Well, I’ve been working on a Warriors TTRPG called Path of the Clans! It uses the Powered by the Apocalypse system (uses 2d6) and is intended to be as customizable or non-customizable as you’d like. Broken Bronze (TTRPG)

The Glorious Age of Bronze has ended, and an age of brittle & ugly iron is now before us. It has been 100 years since the Atala Calamity brought about an age of famine, plague, & war. Now the factory palaces of Hellagro lie abandoned, the wonders of their automata and storehouse of wonders broken & forgotten. The once holy and rich land of Blessed Hapinebu lies divided after the death of its last sun queen, while north of Isial’s Womb, unstable upstarts claim its lands. The Great Syberan Empire retreats to its island leaving Urnin & its great forges to burn, the secrets of Orichalcum & Adamant lost as the once proud fleet of chariots sit rotting in the fields. In this twilight of civilization horrors, beasts, pirates, & raiders grow rampant and wild. Shadowing over all of this is the dread of strange ships in the mist sailing from what is left of Atala with crews more monster than men, leaving little in their wake.

Not since the fall of the First City and desolation of the Sacred Kingdom has the world known such chaos. It is a time in need of heroes, for it is an age of blood and fire, where much has been lost, perhaps never to be regained.

I've played D&D with 2 completely different groups of people, both beginner TTRPG players. One group was more story focused & one was more combat focused, and I can say with complete certainty that neither group had a great time playing D&D because it's not really a fun game lol.

The story focused players did a LOT of work to make both their characters and the setting interesting, but basically ignored 90% of the rules in order to do so. And our first session was basically a 4 hour meet up of dice rolling, trying to figure out powers & game mechanics, assigning horses, gods, weapons and adventuring packs. It was grueling and confusing, and we used literally 10% of what we did in game.

The combat focused game was just encounter after encounter of monster fighting, in which we all took turns rolling dice, and during which non-combat focused PCs were basically limited to doing nothing after using 1 or 2 powers. No matter how you frame it, going around and rolling dice over and over while a harried GM is focusing on subtracting and adding damage is just not that fun.

And I will say that both of these groups put significant effort into creating tokens, creating background stories, and helping players understand the rules. So it's not like the players weren't invested. I just don't think the system is fun.

I’m just thinking. As a DM myself, I have a lot of fun talking with my players about their PCs and their PCs’ relationships. Making up random headcanons (that may very well be canon because it’s YOURS) about a relationship is almost as fun as roleplaying out said relationship.

So it just makes me wonder if Matt and Liam ever had in depth calls at 1am discussing random Caleb/Essek moments that we never got to see in the campaign.

Through the battered portholes of the brig, you catch sight of the edge of your destination. The island is all hard stone and sharp edges. Its many soaring rock arches and sinkholes catch the water that falls from above, as well as other stranger kinds of debris. This water in some places flows in pitiful trickles over the edge, but is mostly trapped in fetid pools, lakes, and swamps. Although you can tell that in the open Ariel above there would still be daylight, down here things are dim.

Picture this: you're on your way to prison and the only thing on your mind is escape. Every guard, piece of equipment, and door becomes a potential obstacle or ally.

But what if the prison itself was the ultimate challenge? Welcome to Boneyard, the island where forgotten prisoners go to rot.

This place is no ordinary jail, it's a sprawling, treacherous terrain with lakes, mountains, caves, and even its own capital city. It's no wonder why adventurers can't resist the call to explore this forbidden land. However, don't let the beauty of Boneyard fool you. The inhabitants are not to be underestimated. Sure, there are some kind souls who will lend a helping hand, but for every one of them, there are just as many robbers, pillagers, and bloodthirsty maniacs out for their next victim. This is not a place for the faint of heart, but for those daring enough to take on the challenge, Boneyard awaits.
