this is honestly a great tag because it gives me an excuse to talk about the wip playlists that i keep making haha. i'm currently focusing on my short story collection while i prepare the first novel in my duology(?) for camp nano. with its respective wip playlist, here are the 10 songs that came up first:

all these songs share some sort of sadness that resonates throughout my short stories, a kind of resigned to your fate vibe. also a decent chunk of the songs in my playlist are folk classics which have a personal meaning to me, and hopefully shines through when i write.

1. Are you named after anyone?

First name no, but before I transitioned my middle name was my Great Aunts name. I just switched it to the masculine version of Louis because she was pretty cool.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Maybe three weeks ago. I moved out of my parents house for the first time about a month and a half ago and suddenly only being able to see them once a week if that, living with three strangers, and starting at a new university all at once caught up to me. I probably cried for nearly half an hour straight with my boyfriend over it.

3. Do you have kids?

Nope, and I fully plan on never having any. I’ll be the cool present uncle to my brothers kids with a handful of cats and other small creatures.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Oh yeah. My humor is really ironic recently so I try to be overt about I am joking by using sarcasm so no one thinks I’m actually insane.

5. What’s the first thing people notice about you?

This question is unfair, I’m not other people. Used to, I can say it was my eyes. I’d get compliments pretty often on my eye color before I started wearing glasses all the time. Now I’m not sure? Hopefully my personality, I try to be kind to people.

6. What’s your eye color?

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

When I’m with people? Scary movies. I love horror in a group setting or as a date movie, but alone I can’t get enough of cheesy happy ending movies.

8. Any special talents?

Finding the cheapest frozen pot pies in a 100 mile radius. I literally just found some for 99 cents at Aldi.

9. Where were you born?

Houston Texas baby

10. What are your hobbies?

Procrastinating my Chem homework by over-studying for my rock identifying geology labs. Oh, and writing, and a little painting.

11. Have you any pets?

I have three beautiful (stinky) rats making a racket in my room as I type this.

12. What’s sports do you play/have played?

I used to do color guard way back when (like nearly 6 years ago), but once I recover from top surgery I want to get in to rock climbing.

13. How tall are you?

5’5” :(

14. Favorite subject in school?

Geology and earth sciences

15. Dream job?

The goal is environmental conservation, but the dream is honestly something along the lines of a park ranger. I just want to be outside and in nature.

Historical or Futuristic?

I'm currently writing stories going in the historical direction! History and stories of the past have always interested me (which is also the reason why I am a ride or die fan for the Magnus Archives).

Opening or Closing chapter?

As much as I enjoy the feeling of writing the beginning of a new idea, I'd prefer the closing chapter and the cathartic sense of relief in finishing what I had started.

Light & Fluffy or Dark & Gritty?

Both of my current stories are primarily dark and gritty! When your inspirations are various horror podcasts and the stories revolve around indifferent gods, it of course would go in that direction. I don't specialise in fluffy stories much, but I do give myself a break sometimes.

Animal Companion or Found Family?

Depends on the story! The light and fluffy stories usually have the animal companions, but some of my grittier stories do have them too. I am currently focusing on found family, however.

Horror or Romance?

Horror for sure! If I went into real detail about the subgenres I love it would take up half this post, but I love analog, psychological, found footage, cosmic and folk horror! Not to mention mythological creatures.

Hard Magic or Soft Magic?

Probably a mix of both. I prefer hard magic overall though, considering how much thought goes into making such a system and how there's concrete reasoning as to how things happen.

One project at a time or Juggling 2 or more?

Definitely 2 or more, haha! I did mention working on two different projects earlier, which those interested in gods and nihilistic themes should look out for it 👀

One award winner or One bestseller?

Getting both would be a great achievement for me! For once I would prefer an award, because that personally means academic validation oops

Fantasy or Sci-fi?

Fantasy definitely, I'm currently quite passionate with more fantastical horror and thriller right now.

First Draft or Final Draft?

Final draft! I love the feeling of finally making it to the end!

Love triangle in everything or No romantic arcs?

Writing about love is difficult, and I figure it would be best to leave it to the aspiring filmmakers like Baron Ryan. So no, I don't put any romantic arcs in anything.

Rainstorm. The coming of rain always brings calm to me, having grown in a dreadfully hot and humid country.

"dog" is a later model of the DCA, part of a group that was mass-produced for a short period. he uses the same base code & design, but he's lost the majority of his original characteristics from repeated rebuilds and heavy modding. he's a heel for a bot fighting ring.

once made for much lighter showbiz, dog uses his loud announcer's voice to hype up fights and taunt the audience. his job is to make them hate him, it's all part of the show.

outside of the ring, all that put-on energy and bravado vanishes. sirius avoids talking and direct eye-contact, his pupils always looking up and away in any direction other than the person who's addressing him. it tends to give him a sneering, sarcastic look, even if the rest of his face is entirely immobile. his passive-aggressive remarks and constant deflections don't help.

he's an antagonist(*?) in a fic im working on, but its not in any kind of presentable state yet. i'll be honest. its dca/reader. my bad
