I don't write so read: idk if doujinshi counts here, but the first ship I really started consuming fan content for was ginhiji (gintama)

I try to avoid discourse, so no. I get mad at people with bad takes, block, move on

There was this one niche yukio (ao no exorcist) ship that bothered me a lot, but I'm not in that fandom anymore and even if I saw it I wouldn't be as bothered. Otherwise, none currently. I just have meh-TPs

From dmbj I'm actively into heihua, less actively into pingxie, neither of them really at the highest brainrot levels. I think fondly of some of my other ships every once in a while

🤔🤔 I don't think so, I either get the vibe right away or I don't. I can get a better understanding of why people ship them, but that won't make me ship them

uuuhhh yukishura maybe? even years back people were pointing out the age difference and I know, I know, but their dynamic is still nice even if I probably don't ship them like that anymore. xuexiao isn't from "the past" and it's been cancel worthy from the start lmao

I don't have crack ships, I'm too canon obsessed

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

Might be louis/lestat, I only read the books a few years ago and I had to do so much archeology for them!

What do most of your ships usually have in common?

Time to call myself out 💁‍♀️ I like more than one type of dynamic, but there are some elements that a lot of my ships have in common if I put them side by side: it's the "whatever souls are made of, yours and mine are the same (sometimes derogatory)" type of dynamic. I love characters that are complicated and think they're unlovable until they find someone that's Kind Of Like Them. It's even better when on the surface they seem very different, but they can tell they're the same. And the reaction of the two might be to be wary of each other, to antagonize each other, to clown each other, to take refuge in each other. Could be the premise of good enemies to lovers ships, but I usually like lower stakes. ginhiji (gintaka also), buckynat, wenzhou, heihua etc different flavors but I think they have this common thread

I haven't found something clear in common about ships that don't fit the above

There are romance tropes I dislike, fandom tropes I dislike, maybe I'm too tired to think of things that annoy me right now even though there are many

WIP WEDNESDAY!

Day late and a dollar short as they say but I have been tagged in by @starla-nell

I should apologize in advance for this. CN: Bugs. Insects. Roaches. I watched the Planet Earth episode about caves and it impacted certain decisions in fiction going forward. But dangit I’m really pleased with this. I’m not tagging anybody in but post a snippet if you want and if you do, mention that I tagged you so I see it to read it.

Someone who hadn't spent more time than was good for a person in the deep roads (which was any time, truthfully) would have missed it.

Duncan looked up. Caves had ups and downs, in addition to all the other directions. A ledge opened up off the back-most chamber.

It was an easy climb, even with the lantern. Duncan found good handholds and places to hook the thing every now and then.

When he reached the top and could set the light down on the ledge, the flickering revealed approximately a billion skittering roaches, give or take.

Caves. A shudder moved through Duncan's whole body.

The entire floor moved.

Not as a single object. This was much worse. If there was one thing in caves that was worse than darkspawn, it was the fact that everything else had too many limbs and eyes or not enough of either.

He told himself that he could turn around. Surrounding him and crawling all over his arms was the surest sign possible that no humans used this level of the cave. Nobody even stored their stuff here. It would get eaten.

Nope. This was certainly not the direction that Duncan had to go.

Duncan sighed.

Except that it was.

This was the way through the cave if there was one at all, and writhing all over the place was the surest separation of the local teenagers from the highwaymen.

Duncan absolutely had to crawl, and sadly it was indeed crawl, forward through the teeming life.

He contemplated the relative merits of a frontal assault, sneaking in the front door, or straight up surrendering and being ransomed to the King, which Duncan knew would work and the highwaymen wouldn't have thought of. None of these were good ideas, but they temped him just at the moment.

Anything but this.

Duncan wallowed for another minute and then hauled himself up onto the ledge with a mental fuck it.

Definitely mental. He bit his lips together as creatures fell off the near ceiling and onto his head.

Most of the insects skittered away from the light, thankfully. He crushed fewer of them under his complaining knees that way. Cleaning his clothes was also going to suck.

Crunch.

Bleh.

Pep is strong, tough and good with her hands. She’s good at charming people too. She’s very sweet natured and can be a bit naive, and her persistence can lead to her developing tunnel vision. She does have a sprinkle of luck that helps her out of trouble though.

Tricia is no nicer than she needs to be, but thrives due to being very smart. She’s good at reading both people and situations, seeing which way the wind is blowing and laying her plans accordingly. Thind enables her to avoid most direct confrontation, useful as she’s not much in a fight. Years of travelling the wastes have left her a tough old bird.

What in-game songs to they like?

Pep likes all the dirty blues. Tricia likes jazz, especially the mysterious signals. She would she fit in well at Big MT.

How do they feel about people from before the war?

Tricia feels bitter towards them, for squandering all they had. War, sure; but what’s the point in a war that leaves nothing behind for the victors to enjoy?

Pep feels sorry for them. It breaks her heart when she finds journals by people who’ve lost their families. She can’t really comprehend war on such a scale, or fighting for anything other than self defence.

Where are they from

Tricia grew up in the outskirts of the Bone Yard and trained in medicine under the Founders. Much to their disappointment she used her high grades to score a job at a private clinic in Shady Sands. She fell in love with the daughter of a water baton and life was peachy for a while. One night at a party she overheard her wife’s family calling her a climber. When Susanna didn’t defend her, her pride wouldn’t let her stay a moment longer. She left and has plied her trade as a travelling surgeon ever since.

What faction(s) are they currently a part of?

Pep: Atom Cat, becomes a Minuteman specialising in power armour repair and training under General Garvey.

Tricia: NCR by default. Essentially a wild card who does just enough to stay in their good books while working her way to the top of the pack. She refuses to run House’s errands, and she’s too smart to think she can be “not like the other girls” with the Legion.

What faction(s) have they been a part of in the past? As above.

Have they met any canon characters?

Tricia is the Courier, so she meets the characters you’d expect. Particularly enjoys the company of Raul. She and Arcade have a similar field of research and a lot in common, except for the fact he thinks she’s a selfish nightmare and she thinks he’s a naive nitwit they get along brilliantly.

Are they friends with any canon characters?

Tricia as above, Pep is friends with Moe, Sturgess and Piper in particular.

Are they or have they been romantic with any canon characters?

Tricia has a wistful love for Veronica, but she also knows she would eat her for breakfast. She’s not a good person, but shes good enough to know she’d be bad for her. She has dalliances with Beatrix, Ranger Ghost and Red Katherine

Pep has an on again, off again thing with Magnolia, but she wants to settle down and Magnolia doesn’t. She doesn’t expect to end up with Nick, but grows to love his style, his dry sense of humour and the fact he’s an idealist at heart like her.
