This is a good example of what my friend has managed to do with funds from donations.

Meanwhile I’m selling my art and making 90% of proceeds towards helping - I don’t know what else I can do, and I believe that $$ directly into the hands of those in need is the most efficient and moral solution. I believe this even for US.

I’m not doing badly but it’s not enough - everything is inflated and overly expensive, there is a distinct lack of clean water, everyone is malnourished and has skin issues from the heat and lack of cleaning supplies/ water.

My friend will be getting a fan and battery today (his tomorrow).

Please don’t forget him, or any of them. Everything helps 🙏🏼 literally ; cash, shares, talking about that specific country. They’re falling out of the discourse and we need to keep advocating, no matter how cool Snoop Dogg is. I know many of you still are advocating and have never stopped. I am sick and tired of seeing people talk about the similarities between Anakin and Leia or Luke and Padme. Switch it up!

Talk about how Luke learned to be compassionate and see the good in everyone from Beru. How he got his sense of morality from Owen. Owen and Beru are his parents just as much as Anakin and Padme.

Talk about how Leia's knowledge of politics didn't come from Padme, it came from Bail. How she picked up her fighting spirit, not from Anakin but from Breha. Bail and Breha are her parents just like Padme and Anakin.

Give me angsty fics of them mourning the people who raised them. Talk about Leia mourning her people, her planet, and her parents. Bring up how she wanted what was best for people. How she learned of her mother, far before she learned of her father. How Breha and Bail would speak so kindly of their close friend, how they would take trips to the Naboo burial places.

Talk about Luke mourning his aunt and uncle, reminiscing on his childhood on Tattooine, and the stories he heard of not only Anakin but of Shmi as well. Think about how Owen's hate towards Obi-Wan might of affected both Luke's want to become a Jedi and the amount of faith he put into Obi-Wan.

I never make posts like this but there is one scene I NEED to talk about.

In season 15 episode 4 “the gang replaces Dee with a monkey”

When everyone is sitting at the bar together, talking and drinking “monkey beer” in this scene Dennis is talking and he just taps Mac’s hand. Like a couple of times. To get his attention I guess. And Mac looks down at their hands AND HE JUST TAKES A DEEP BREATH IN. He looks at their hands like he has to calm down just because Dennis is touching him. It leaves me wondering how Rob knows. Like he just knows, because that’s exactly what would happen. I cannot explain it because it’s driving me insane my apologies for my ramblings.

THIS SCENE BUT LIKE A DIFFERENT TIME IN THIS SCENE? I can’t find the exact moment I’m talking about but when I do, I will be unstoppable. OKAY EVEN IN THIS GIF SCENE. DENNIS DOESNT EVEN TOUCH HIM HIS HAND JUST HOVERS and to be fair mac doesn’t really have a noteworthy reaction I’m just saying it’s important to me.

I would very much appreciate debates about transmultiphobia/transmultimisia that don't only include man/woman bigender experiences. Because, yk, not all bigender people are man/woman, and not all multigender people are partially man and/or partially woman.

Queerness and neurodivergency and other ways of being different from the "average" person - inborn ways - are so....applicable. To horror movies.

You see a character succumb to what they've been fighting against - something within themselves, who and what they are - and they just...they let go. They stop fighting. They become whatever they've always been.

Based on narrative, such a letting go is either negative or positive...in some cases, it's both.

This is repeated through countless horror movies. Countless horror media.... It's the personal context that comes from the life of whoever is watching, that is what makes this stuff click. If you do not have a "different" life, you may be able to see the connections but you will not understand to the fullest - because you do not live with that extremely personal battle within yourself.

2023 Reading Challenge

I set myself a reading challenge this year. I usually average about 25 books a year, and I'm challenging myself to make 12 of those (so one per month) fit into the following categories:

3 - March - A Genre You Don't Usually Read

5 - May - Something Translated (from a language you don't speak into one you do)

6 - June - A Fantasy With a Non-Western Mythology/Setting

7 - July - A Memoir or Narrative Nonfiction

8 - August - An #OwnVoices Disabled book (any disability, fiction or nonfiction)

9 - September - Something Generally Considered a Classic

10 - October - Made Into a Movie

11 - November - Something LGBTQ In Content (fiction or nonfiction)

12 - December - A New Release (wildcard, can be anything at all as long as it came out this year)

The purpose of this is to challenge myself to read diversely, and to put money into the pockets/otherwise support diverse authors. I welcome you to join me, or come tell me what reading challenge YOU are doing in 2023!

more good news from tiktok: they’ve started blocking celebrities.

they’re calling it block party 2024. just blocking and ignoring countless celebrities who havent said shit about palestine. influencers, actors, anyone who went to the met gala, whatever, they’re getting blocked. and people keep talking about how cathartic it is, how good it feels, how they never realized they could DO that. there was some kind of subconscious law against blocking famous people, but it’s broken, and people are LOVING it. and it’s WORKING. a social media/digital advertising coordinator was talking about how ad companies are PANICKING, because they can’t accurately target anymore. so many big influencers, including fucking LIZZO started talking about palestine the MOMENT their follower counts started going down. and the best part? no one is forgiving them. lizzo posted a tiktok asking people to donate to palestinian families, and all the comments just said you’re a multimillionaire. put your money where your mouth is. blocked.

i feel like i’m witnessing the downfall of celebrity culture, right here right now. people are waking up.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
