Arguably the most important representation of the year comes from a movie directed by one of the Coen brothers. Ethan Coen directs this wacky comedy that is very much in style for him.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage

A game had to be added to this list and here it is, the best one. From the creators who gave us Life is strange. Lost Records: Bloom and Rage tells the story of four friends who experience a transformative summer in 1995. After 27 years of no contact, Nora, Swann, Autumn, and Kat are reunited by fate and forced to confront the long-buried secret that made them agree to never speak again all those years ago. From the teaser alone it is obvious at least two of them dated.

Pluto

A Thai gl from GMMTV, known for its successful Thai dramas. The story is the telenovela cliche we've always wanted. Two girls in love. One gets in an accident and her twin takes her place to find out who was behind her accident, the other girl is blind. The twin has to fake being the real one so has to be in a relationship with the blind girl and of course falls in love with her. Match made in fanfic heaven.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

It was announced so long ago people are getting frustrated. However, with both a writer and a director now attached to the project, and the strikes over, we have every reason to believe we will finally get to see the hit novel, that centers the love story between two closeted Hollywood actresses, come to life. Whether you loved the novel or were indifferent and didn't see what the fuss was about, it is a very successful wlw romance and we want to see it on screen!

The Paying Guests

The director that brought us Carol adapting a book by the author of Fingersmith? Yes please!

Speaking to Indiewire, Haynes revealed he’s developing an adaptation of Sarah Waters’ 2014 novel The Paying Guests. “It’s a three-part limited series that would need to be a British production, but it’s a really great novel.” Set in post-WWI London, the drama is part lesbian love story and part murder mystery following a down-and-out widow and her daughter, the latter taking up a relationship with one of their lodgers. Waters also wrote Fingersmith, which was adapted into The Handmaiden by Park Chan-wook.

NCIS Hawaii season 3

One of our favorite pairings of last year, Kate and Lucy are the main couple of their show and they carry it well. They look good together, have progress and evolution in their relationship and have fun working together.

The Secret of Us

Thai channel CH3 is expected to hit us strong with this Thai gl. CH3 is big in Thailand so this one is a big deal. The story is the typical exes meet again trope and it's magnificent. It centers Doctor Fahlada, nicknamed Doctor Angel. She is trying to hide the pain after being abandoned by the woman she loved. But then...by chance that woman comes back into her life.

Whisper Me a Love Song

Our resident anime entry has to be Whisper me a love song. Based on a manga it is the story of Himari Kino. On the first day of entering high school, Himari Kino "falls" for her senior, Yori Asanagi, whom she watched singing with a band at the welcome party for new students. When Himari confesses her admiration to Yori, Yori misinterprets Himari's feelings as romantic love. However, before Yori realizes, she comes to fall for Himari anyway, and promises to win her affections for real.

Bad Sisters season 2

Bad Sisters is one of the best reviewed and hilarious shows on this list. Coming back for a season 2 was inevitable. Bibi, the lesbian sister, will keep entertaining us in 2024.

Station 19 season 7

One of the most enduring shows and wlw couples on TV are coming back for a season 7! That is a lot of seasons but Maya and Carina do still have that spark.

About Galaxy The Series

Part of the gl renaissance that is expected to go full force next year, this series is already hugely popular among Asian romance fans.

Dream the Series

We already have enough Asian dramas in this list but we couldn't leave out one of the most anticipated gl, Dream. The story is that of a woman that sees a girl in her dreams every night only to meet her in real life. While in real life they are friends in her dreams they do much more. She thinks her friend doesn't know about that what she doesn't know is that she also remembers everything they do in their dreams.

Harley Quinn the Animated Series season 5

Another season of our favorite criminal duo Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy? Yes please and thank you. These two, and this particular iteration of them, might be the best representation American television has ever given us.

Chaser Game W

Chaser Game W is the first gl produced by TV Tokyo so it has a historic significance for the advancement of representation for queer women in Japan. First episode airs January 8. Based on manga series "Chaser Game" written by Hiroshi Matsuyama & illustrated by Yukitaro Matsuyama

The story:

synopsis: Itsuki has been working in the "Dynamic Dream" game company for five years and is now appointed as the lead for a big Japanese-Chinese collaboration project, which she is fully motivated to work on. Vigil season 2

The first couple of episodes of Vigil season 2 will technically be shown in December 2023 (in the UK only) but we'll basically be able to watch it beginning 2024 and we're looking forward to it!

Several upcoming TV shows and movies have cast actors that make it obvious they'll have lesbian and bi characters but until we know whether the representation will be enough to be worth watching we're holding off on making that other, more elaborate, list.

Pierre and Ocon: both are secondary love interests on a book that once was a wattpad original they only exist so the actual main love interest looks good so they are an inch above absolutely dreadful still main love interest is so bad they are considered good by the haters.

Logan and Alex: both are wattpad Born lover boys in different books Logan it's the secondary love interest who was actually the good option but he is against a tatoo covered dark haired asshole so he loses meanwhile Alex is in those quirky mindless fluff books that it's almost all pining he id basically a manic pixie dream boy.

Hi anon! Did you know (i know you did't know this information but bare with me) brazilian fandom compares q!cellbit with a famous brazilian telenovela character called Félix and the trajectory of the character's in the vison of the wiewrs is similar?

So Félix was a villan turned into a protagonist in the 2014 brazilian telenovela called "Amor à Vida" (Trail of lies in english releses), Félix is from the rich medical Khoury family (they have a rich people hospital) and he has a lot of issuies because his dad hates him and very clearly loves his sister (paloma, the actual protagonist of the novela) more and his dad is homophobic and he is his mother's favorite so after paloma abandons medical school and Félix sees a chance of getting the hospital he is very happy but then while paloma is in her hippie lifestyle she gets pregnent and gives birth to a babygirl in a dirty bar and the only one that saw her birthing the baby and helped her with it was Félix and Félix seeing that a grandaughter from the favorite child you get him to lose the little live he his father has for him, he does a very sane thing and trows the baby into a trash can, years in the future he is married with a woman and has a preeten/teenager son and he cheats on her constantly with other men

Then the true of this henious action and was disoned by his father BUT brazilian people simplily LOVED Félix and could't get ENOUGH of him and they thought paloma was too boring so the author made a redenption arc for Félix (were he gets poor and sells hot dogs in the street for a living) and he gets a love interest, niko, a chef that was cheated by his husband with their best friend and almost lost his baby for the surrogacy mother (the same woman that cheated with his husband) after a bunch of telenovela shenanigans heppen they get together and do the first gay kiss in a "noble" time sloth and Félix gets a happy ending with Niko and his dad finaly accepting him (its very touching)

So what i want to say is that q!cellbit is very similar to Félix in therms of personality (but a kinder, better dad, dirty and pathetic version of felix) and the trajectory of a gay villan turned into a VERY beloved protagonist by the brazilian public is also similar

‘Land Of Shadows’: Portuguese-Brazilian Period Drama About Romance Of Gay Soldiers In Development

A Portuguese-Brazilian drama series about the romance of two 17th Century soldiers is in development.

Land of Shadows will follow their blossoming but forbidden love during the 17th Century, when Brazil was a colony of the Kingdom of Portugal. It’s based on No País das Sombras, a novel from Emmy winner and telenovela writer Aguinaldo Silva, who is supervising the text adaptation and will be executive producer.

Director is Pedro Vasconcelos, who won an International Emmy for Brazilian net Globo’s 2014-15 series Império (Empire), which was also from Silva. Luiz Felipe Petruccelli is the writer of Land of Shadows and Diosual Entertainment the producer.

The show’s set in Olinda, a Brazilian village, during in the Captaincy of Pernambuco in 1604 and 1605, and reveals how the soldiers’ equality puts them in opposition to Portugal’s Holy Office of the Inquisition. Side plots will include the persecution of New Christians, abuses against women and the romance between the wife of a sugar cane plantation lord and one of his slaves.

What are your top favorite ships?

Oooh, thanks for asking! I have so many! A lot of soaps and telenovelas probably because it's daily and they really build the anticipation. Let me list out a few faves.

Xena and Gabrielle from Xena Warrior Princess is my all time favourite. There is yet to be a better sapphic couple imo and it's because the show couldn't officially come out and definitively say they were in love and so they had to show it over and over and over again through action. They had them moving (literally) heaven and earth for each other, they had them as soulmates for all of time. Epic. Must watch.

I have a huge soft spot for Olivia and Natalia from Guiding Light, that was my first active sapphic fandom, what a ride. Enemies to Friends to Lovers 1 year slow burn with a cute kid where they find themselves playing happy family before they even realise they have feelings for each other. It struggled with censorship and though it's a happy ending, it lost its way near the end, but love this pairing.

What else? Root and Shaw from Person of Interest. Root flirting with Shaw and Shaw pretending to hate it, so much fun and then them actually falling in love. Hated the ending with a passion though.

Same goes for Bea and Allie from Wentworth, I was so invested and then they just.... both in 2016, the year of dead lesbians, that was not a good year for my ships.

I was deep into Clara and Marina from Em Familia back in 2014, such lovely chemistry.

There was Barbara and Mercedes from Perdona Nuestros Pecados, so dramatic.

Rich Man's Daughter was also so dramatic and I got hooked.

Luisita and Amelia from Amar es para siempre, they were so cute and the build up was just delicious.

Loved Sarah and Eva from Legends of Tomorrow. The show has that same warm campy vibe that I enjoy about Xena and they did a lovely job with the ladie's journey and watching them support each other.

Maya and Carina from Station 19. So impressed with how they used their love to help Maya face her trauma, so well done. Chemistry is top notch.

Very much interested to see where The Wheel of Time goes with the Moiraine and Siuan relationship

Suki and Eve from Eastenders, so. damned. good. So much chemistry and Balvinder Sopal blew my socks off with her performance.

My latest ship is Harper and Phil from Shortland Street, honestly been waiting 10 years for Harper to have another relationship with a woman so I just love that it's finally happening so. much. I really hope this pairing goes somewhere.

2013. The first time his mother allowed him to wear a smoking. He isn't sure, still is searching for himself, but he knows he prefers he/him to she/her and that his name is not his name anymore.

Seeing that validated made him happy. Seeing his aunts kiss like everything was normal made him happy.

Only cloud in front of the sun was seeing his cousin cry. Why is he unhappy ? This is a happy day.

2014. He changed names, his mother accepted him but his father ? Not so much. It doesn't matter. None of them are really stopping him. He's thinking about taking hormones, but changes his mind every two mornings.

At the very least being called by his new name feels good.

2015. He was just going back home when that guy grabbed him. A punch went through his nose, followed by another, and slurs that he never heard in his lifetime.

Worst is that this voice was strangely familiar.

He got confirmation when he went hiding at his aunt. She was going through a rough patch, her wife's cheating finally revealed and the divorce getting messy, but she still took him in. That's where she confirmed him it was her wife's brother.

He was thirteen and already exposed to transphobia, his cousins silently staring at his wounds from the other side of the room.

He knows what it feels like to be hated. To discover the worst in people. But he is spiteful, he is resilient, and he survived another night.

The following day, he tells his parents he wants hormones. The same day, his aunt is single for good.

2017. He hardly sees his cousins anymore, lost in the divorce and so many other rough patches they went through. Puberty blockers did their job, and he is now on T, with the permission of his parents. His therapist helps him go through that puberty easier that he would with his assigned one.

He has friends, and his heart beats faster when he sees that man in the school grounds. Said man is a proud gay, taking under his wing the baby transgender he was. Looks are exchanged in-between classes, and he gifts him some drawings. The others are made of his face, more beautiful that he ever drew faces.

One day, a group of bullies took his notebook from his hands and saw the drawings he was hiding. They ripped them all, calling him a fag and a tranny, words that are now so familiar to him.

He drew them as he saw them. Ugly, exxagerated villains. Spite is still powering him.

When he's 18, he will have his top surgery. It's already planned. Nothing else has importance.

2019. When his cousin disappeared at the beginning of the year, he never thought he would find him on TV, in the most horrible telenovela there was. But he coudn't stop watching. Even after the end. The most awful end he ever sees.

He remembers the twisted smile, the cries, the shouts. He puts them on paper.

This would be his last act as a free man before long.

2020. He got out of hell only to get back in another one. Unable to get back to his home, to get his long-awaited top surgery, he stayed behind to survive. Alone.

He never was alone before. Even in hell.

He is still spiteful. His drawings get more and more depicting of an horrifying reality. He still survives.

His estranged half-brother asks him if he wants to come live with him in Norway. Norway is not the paradise it was anymore. It was taken over by devils. he can see the devils. He still goes, because he is tired of being alone.

He gets his top surgery on his brother's allowance. His sister-in-law hates that. He feels like he doesn't belong.

He still gets the letter.

The same letter his cousin got two years ago.

2021. He had no choice but to go to that school. Hope's Peak. Nobody really pays attention to him, a survivor among the survivors, and that suits him. His promotion is already considerably down. Apparently, this year's killing game almost exclusively captured new people.

He doesn't care. At least he's alive.

A statement that gets more and more weak.

2022. That new guy is suspiciously interested in him. It's not rare to see him in his vision field just watching over him with his piercing turquoise eyes. His own are always down.

Once he tried to call him. Something simple, a "why are you watching me" kind of call. The guy dissapeared instantly after realising he got spotted.

This is annoying. So he tries to get intel. A vampire hunter, says the other survivors of the 2022 promotion. He had difficulties learning english and speaks in Latin or Romanian most of the time, but it's not what made him the hardest to be integrated.

People think he's a cult survivor. Still is part of it, apparently, and tracks down vampires even here at Hope's Peak. People believe he found one.

He has the same turquoise eyes as a man from his past.

2023. He started talking to the weird guy, discovered he was not that weird after all, just lost. That he could relate. Both of them are survivors of something. This conversations started to make him believe the world was not that rotten after all.

Until he saw in the 2023 promotion his youngest cousin and the relative of the people who ruined his life. And realised he stopped being spiteful a long time ago.

Still, he could be at least for him. Him, who gets flustered around him for reasons he attributes to his supposed vampiric nature. He knows very well what he is, but can't believe people would love him, as his broken self and the sword of Damocles hung above his head.

At the very least this world is worth something. If there is still people ready to approach him.

2024. He is so tired.

The cute guy went in with a prosthetic arm.

He didn't get why he acted horrified at the sight.

That world took away something from him and he can't even realise it.

This world is so rotten.

2025. He didn't wake up at Hope's Peak.

He knows why. He knows what that means.

A novela foi um fenômeno adolescente. Muita gente da minha idade comprou os álbuns de figurinhas, chicletes... Mesmo com seus efeitos vagabundos, típicos da Rede Globo.

Eu não assisti, mas a abertura é de respeito.

Infelizmente a cantora Vange Leonel morreu cedo, conheci um pouco da sua obra, que parece perdida. Fora o seu sucesso Noite Preta, não há mais nada dela em qualquer streamer de música, nem mesmo no you Tube. Morreu em 2014 aos 51 anos de câncer. deixou saudades.
