Forgot to post this yesterday but I managed to get out yesterday! We had a cold snap where it was super icy and snowed but it warmed up enough to warrant getting back to running!

I didn't go as far, but I did make it out. I'm slowly running more than power walking and it's showing through my run times! I started out with a whopping 17:00 pace and I'm a little less than 16:00 now!

Maybe by May I could run continuously for 20 minutes! That'd be neat!

Weighed myself this morning and I'm down roughly a pound, so my hard work is paying off!

My fav show ever (Succession) is ending today, I'm watching the finale at 3am and then promptly descending into madness 🥺 This has been my biggest and longest lasting fiction hyperfixation - it's been going strong since I started it in Feb 2022 - and I can't tell you how much I'm gonna miss both the show and the fandom.

The main characters are a family of horrible rich people but they're all so complex and traumatised and human, them and their dynamics are like nothing I've seen in a show before. The three adult siblings are the main part and what makes me go insane the most, they're such a realistic portrayal of the sibling experience, the good and the bad, and man I cannot believe this is the last we'll ever see of them. They parallel my family in some ways too (we're not as messed up lol but still) and that makes it all the more personal. They managed to be insanely relatable despite coming from a completely different world, not to mention so freaking hilarious. Just... them 💛

Show/book/game withdrawals always suck but I have literally never been this invested in a character like I adore these sibs and I'm not ready to say goodbye. Mostly, I just appreciate that we got this show the way we did - the writing and cast and directing and music and whatever else all came together to make something magical and I'll be forever grateful.

For dnn wedding headcanons:

Dream buys engagement rings almost immediately after they start dating because he is so sure they're going to be forever, and he carries them around in his pocket for ages before the question gets popped. It's especially funny to George and Sapnap as they watch him fall all over himself trying to get the rings out of his pocket. The rings are cheap and don't fit but they all wear them on chains after getting fancier rings.

If they do a traditional wedding then during the ceremony George gets so choked up he can't say the vows he wrote, and after someone makes a joke about it during the reception he pulls Dream and Sapnap into a private room to read them the vows he wrote. Dream and Sapnap agree that it's more special that they get to keep that moment just for the three of them

Even if they don't do a traditional wedding Sapnap is a huge romantic and is slightly sad that no one will be wearing white until he realizes that he can wear white. The simple cream linen suit isn't what he had imagined as a kid but it fits them even better, even if George calls him their blushing bride at least once after picking his jaw up off the floor.

i can totally see romantic Dream getting so overwhelmed with love when they all start dating that he just can't imagine not marrying them. they're each other's futures, ofc they're gonna get married. and he's gonna be overwhelmed with love when he proposes, too. ma mans gonna be stuttering and he's gonna be crying before he's even popped the question, meanwhile Sapnap is a shy, blushing mess and George is jumping up and down with the biggest grin like "i knew it! i knew it!!"

leading up to their wedding and all throughout that day, Dream is gonna be so nervous, wanting everything to work out perfectly, and it's gonna take Sapnap and George to calm him down constantly. Sapnap's gonna be nervous, too, but he'll be less vocal about it to them. he'll probably say it a million times to Karl and Punz's faces, but he won't really be calmed down until George notices his tense posture one day and teases him about it. and George, oh George, he'll be so wrapped up in contradicting the others' nervousness and he'll boast "i'm not nervous at all! haven't worried one bit!" and he'll keep his cool all throughout the day of the wedding until he's up there reading his vows and then his voice will break and he's crying bc wow he's getting married to the loves of his life

and you're right, Sapnap would totally want a traditional wedding :') him wearing white... that's so cute. i was thinking that George could wear like a light blue suit but then that got me wondering about the color of the wedding. would it be their colors? i feel like it would clash. maybe a soft blue and soft green with like an orange wood? i'll have to think about it more

Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.

Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.

Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.

When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?

this is a poster i made for my call to action assignment in humanities! it's a bunch of basic and easy stretches for people who sit and work at a desk all day (me)

the idea is that you'd put the poster up above ur desk and do the stretches every 30 minutes or so,, the whole routine won't take more than about 6 minutes to complete and when done regularly it can prevent wrist, shoulder, neck and back pain! :)

all these stretches can be done while sitting (although i HIGHLY recommend you stand up and move around while taking a break from working)

the thing is that they're so fascinated by sex, they love sex, they can't imagine a world without sex - they need sex to sell things, they need sex to be part of their personality, they need sex to prove their power - but they hate sex. they are disgusted by it.

sex is the only thing that holds their attention, and it is also the thing that can never be discussed directly.

you can't tell a child the normal names for parts of their body, that's sexual in nature, because the body isn't a body, it's a vessel of sex. it doesn't matter that it's been proven in studies (over and over) that kids need to know the names of their genitals; that they internalize sexual shame at a very young age and know it's 'dirty' to have a body; that it overwhelmingly protects children for them to have the correct words to communicate with. what matters is that they're sexual organs. what matters is that it freaks them out to think about kids having body parts - which only exist in the context of sex.

it's gross to talk about a period or how to check for cancer in a testicle or breast. that is nasty, illicit. there will be no pain meds for harsh medical procedures, just because they feature a cervix.

but they will put out an ad of you scantily-clad. you will sell their cars for them, because you have abs, a body. you will drip sex. you will ooze it, like a goo. like you were put on this planet to secrete wealth into their open palms.

they will hit you with that same palm. it will be disgusting that you like leather or leashes, but they will put their movie characters in leather and latex. it will be wrong of you to want sexual freedom, but they will mark their success in the number of people they bed.

they will crow that it's inappropriate for children so there will be no lessons on how to properly apply a condom, even to teens. it's teaching them the wrong things. no lessons on the diversity of sexual organ growth, none on how to obtain consent properly, none on how to recognize when you feel unsafe in your body. if you are a teenager, you have probably already been sexualized at some point in your life. you will have seen someone also-your-age who is splashed across a tv screen or a magazine or married to someone three times your age. you will watch people pull their hair into pigtails so they look like you. so that they can be sexy because of youth. one of the most common pornography searches involves newly-18 young women. girls. the words "barely legal," a hiss of glass sand over your skin.

barely legal. there are bills in place that will not allow people to feel safe in their own bodies. there are people working so hard to punish any person for having sex in a way that isn't god-fearing and submissive. heteronormative. the sex has to be at their feet, on your knees, your eyes wet. when was the first time you saw another person crying in pornography and thought - okay but for real. she looks super unhappy. later, when you are unhappy, you will close your eyes and ignore the feeling and act the role you have been taught to keep playing. they will punish the sex workers, remove the places they can practice their trade safely. they will then make casual jokes about how they sexually harass their nanny.

and they love sex but they hate that you're having sex. you need to have their ornamental, perfunctory, dispassionate sex. so you can't kiss your girlfriend in the bible belt because it is gross to have sex with someone of the same gender. so you can't get your tubes tied in new england because you might change your mind. so you can't admit you were sexually assaulted because real men don't get hurt, you should be grateful. you cannot handle your own body, you cannot handle the risks involved, let other people decide that for you. you aren't ready yet.

but they need you to have sex because you need to have kids. at 15, you are old enough to parent. you are not old enough to hear the word fuck too many times on television.

they are horrified by sex and they never stop talking about it, thinking about it, making everything unnecessarily preverted. the saying - a thief thinks everyone steals. they stand up at their podiums and they look out at the crowd and they sign a bill into place that makes sexwork even more unsafe and they stand up and smile and sign a bill that makes gender-affirming care illegal and they get up and they shrug their shoulders and write don't say gay and they get up, and they make the world about sex, but this horrible, plastic vision of it that they have. this wretched, emotionless thing that holds so much weight it's staggering. they put their whole spine behind it and they push and they say it's normal!

this horrible world they live in. disgusted and also obsessed.

Happy Halloween! I'm really excited to be finally launching* what is maybe one of my most ambitious, largest work yet. This online library is the next phase of a research project that began in May 2020, when I first mused on how comics as a field doesn't have a resource that catalogues devices used in the medium. Like, theatre has devices, so does literature, and film! So why shouldn't comics? I always had an interest in comics studies and analysis. I love reading, making and thinking comics. However most of my knowledge was intuitive - I learned comics from osmosis and experience. This is true for many of my peers. Speaking about comics as a creator is hard, because we don't have a robust system of language. When we had to speak, many of us tend to reach for the language developed for film by film practitioners. If there is language specific to comics, it's either scattered in multiple blogs or hidden away in academic journals. The Comics Devices library is meant to aggregate everything and everybody into a single hub! After exploring some multiple resources, alongside some original, independent research, here is the first edition! * The Comics Devices project is still a work-in-progress! It's not final, nor will it ever be. This is why I am seeking contributors to help build this library. Translations, comics examples, etc. There is a lot of work to do!
