Expanding on my last post, I have always imagined that as soon as my Rook moves into Villa Dellamorte, it becomes a hangout/training center for the fledglings of House Egrativi. Jacobus may be a full Crow, but I'm sure many of his friends are not (since he is considered a prodigy), and they need somewhere to train that won't put them too underfoot during real Crow operations. So my Rook more or less takes them in, as Viago once took her in, and because she has more time and is much more outgoing than Viago, she is happy to train and guide a whole flock of boisterous, active killer teenagers.

And there are many fun and happy ideas that go along with this: Lucanis loving to cook for them all, so the kitchen is always stocked with snacks and treats for even their seemingly bottomless stomachs. Lucanis knitting them all scarves. Rook building what amounts to a full-scale acrobatics training center in the guest house. A group of teenagers performing all of their best tricks to try and make a Rookanis baby laugh and nearly coming to blows when it comes time to decide who will teach the baby how to do their first forward roll.

I even imagine it could be a way Illario comes back into the fold; he helps to train them out of boredom since he's not allowed to take contracts, and because they are fiercely loyal to Rook and Lucanis, they serve almost as guards (everyone involved, including Illario, knows that if he steps a toe out of line, those kids will kill him without hesitation). And maybe eventually he even comes to enjoy the role of mentor because the kids do listen to him when he has something valuable to teach, which proves that he is a Crow and he is skilled, no matter what his cousin and grandmother might think.

But can you imagine how bittersweet such a situation would be for Caterina? Her quiet, almost abandoned villa suddenly full of life and laughter and shouting again? Watching teenage fledglings run up and down the halls? Watching them train and develop and become adults in a way most of her grandchildren didn't live long enough to do?

It would be both exactly what she imagined her retirement would be like and nothing at all what she imagined at the same time.

Now I think the best place to start, is a character introduction:

Heroes:

Edwin/Coccinelle: Edwin is the holder of the ladybug miraculous. His strict yet absent parents, have homeschooled him up until recently, since he’s decided to go to school.

Charles/Jinx: Charles is the holder of the black cat miraculous. He’s transformed as often as possible, and absolutely loves the freedom it has given him. Plagg is incredibly protective of him, because of his poor home life.

Crystal/Panthera: Crystal is the holder of the tiger miraculous. She frequently crossed paths with the hero boys, before becoming a holder, because of her ex Davids tendency of getting akumatized constantly, like an infinitely worse version of Mr. Pigeon.

Niko/Inoshishi: Niko is the holder of the pig miraculous. She runs this aus version of the Ladyblog; “The Coccinelle Chronicles”, she has so many videos, that she can’t post to it, because it would reveal her identity.

Jenny/Tau: Jenny is the holder of the ox miraculous. She is incredibly tired of a certain cat, always sleeping on her awning/roof, but at least it gets her more customers. She has to be the responsible adult in the group, and she definitely did not sign up for it.

Villains:

Esther/Hawkmoth: Esther is the holder of the butterfly miraculous. I mean she’s Esther Finch, need I say more.

Monty/Pavonis: Monty is the holder of the peacock miraculous. He’s a senti monster, but isn’t aware of it yet. He secretly works for Esther, but eventually gets redeemed.

Additional cast:

The Night Nurse/Gaurdian: NN is the guardian of the miraculous, and is the one tasked with picking the holders. She’s also dating a certain Ms. Jenny Green.

Death/Grand Master: we haven’t talk much about her role in the story yet.

Also they wear school uniforms (styled after Edwin’s uniform in the comics), for no other reason then I wanted to, and no one can stop me.

I’m like 3 seconds from quitting my current job, and this weekend the manager fucked EVERYONE over so hard this weekend I might actually just fucking do it. He’s here today, and I’m going to talk to him about it because I’m actually fucking PISSED.

He’s going out of town for the weekend, which is fine, except instead of oh, I don’t know, staggering out who’s working so we actually have a good crew for the weekend, he gave me a group that literally needs to be babysat and hand held the entire fucking shift. The only one I WONT have to watch constantly is the goddamn 16 year old kid, who is supposedly the ‘co-leader’ but she’s 16 and I’m not gonna make her deal with that. So it’s me and my crew of incompetent fucking idiots, plus one kid who’s mostly self-sufficient.

I am either going to quit, kill one of them, or tell my manager to stick the schedule so far up his ass he can taste it.

pre-boyfriend!kiyora who doesn’t say his feelings outright but definitely isn’t afraid to show you how he feels in other ways. specifically physical touch, quality time, and more-than casual flirting. he’d wrap his arm around you, grad your hand to drag you places, let you take up his free time outside of practice, give you sweet compliments at every chance he gets.

pre-boyfriend!kiyora who eventually finds himself hanging over the edge of insanity every time he thinks about how he can’t call you his. the confession would be swift and almost nonchalant. he’s proud of his feelings for you and doesn’t feel the need to act shy about it once he’s ready. when you say yes he can’t help the smile that creeps across his face which he quickly tries to scrunch up so he isn’t cheesing at you like a dork.

boyfriend!kiyora who has an endless list of hidden gems and secluded spots that he takes you to regularly, places where you can both be alone and enjoy each others presence. he loves any date that involves food, likes going to food festivals and trying all the different food stands. definitely tries to feed you stuff and doesn’t see the problem if you tell him it might look a little weird to other people lol. “Whatever just try it, open up~” he’d scoff at you playfully.

boyfriend!kiyora who loves taking candid pictures of you! he has two separate albums in his phone, one for you looking stupid and one for you looking gorgeous. sometimes his cover is blown by the camera shutter sound from his phone and he has to quickly shove it back in his pocket, looking around like he very obviously was doing something sneaky.

boyfriend!kiyora who dedicates everything to you. if he scores a goal during a game, he looks over to you in the crowed, putting his hand up and pointing at you with a smile as he runs back into position. he makes playlists for you, (attempts to) make you food and desserts.

boyfriend!kiyora who makes silly little stick figure drawings of you two on restaurant napkins when you go out to eat. sometimes he leaves you little notes that he wrote on the back of random pieces of paper he came across, he’s a crafty boy lol.

boyfriend!kiyora who gets jealous rather easily but doesn’t outwardly act possessive about it. he tends to keep those feelings to himself, but if some other guy is really all over you he’d just thrust himself into the situation as aggressively as possible until they get the hint that you’re taken. overall, he trusts you so at the end of the day he knows he has no need to worry!

boyfriend!kiyora who secretly loves being the little spoon. having your arms around him makes him feel so special it warms his heart in a way he can’t describe. he lays his head down on your chest or in your lap whenever you guys are on the couch or in bed together. he loves holding you too but he'll take any chance he can get to be engulfed in your embrace.

Do you have a guide to all your dragon age ocs, I am deeply interested in all of them but for the life of me can't figure out who's who?

i don’t have a guide no... i get that question a lot lately but formatting it seems like it would be a lot of effort and at the end of it i feel like people would just read it instead of talking to me or looking at my posts. which would defeat the whole point of this blog. like you can just ask me, i am here specifically to ramble abt these characters, i don’t care if i get basic or repetitive questions like ‘who is so-and-so’ and ‘what’s that freak’s deal’

if you are totally lost by all of it and want the very basics i can do a quick run through of the big names! my most important wardens are minerva surana (overachiever blood mage willing to sacrifice both herself and others for her big picture goals) and the character i’ve currently nearly finished playing, ivar aeducan (once a scandalously careless prince, now a kinslayer and a warden, weighed down with endless lose-lose choices). my most important hawke is keir hawke (fiercely loyal aggressive reaver who’s gentle and earnest with his own people). my most important inquisitors are arthur trevelyan (charismatic necromancer single father who is fully lying to convince everyone he’s andraste’s chosen) and nennaia lavellan (older warrior & leader with iron-clad dedication to justice). my most important rooks are sol de riva (charming but dangerously unpredictable human crow warrior) and elodie thorne (dwarven orlesian rogue whose years of experience with the wardens leave her with more doubts than certainties)

there are tons of others because i am in the habit of making ocs & starting playthroughs every five minutes but that should cover the majority of my posting. if there’s anyone key i missed or something isn’t cleared up lmk!!

"Sweet!" Style crows. "I'll blow you in the kitchen-"

"-Customers," Fadel hisses.

Style nods, sagely, in the way that means he's definitely going to blow Fadel in the kitchen. Maybe with the door open.

i rly think DA's companions peaked with rivalries lol, like that can create such interesting dynamics, when rivaled these people are still following hawke and you can still romance them, Interesting!! THat's cool! why are they doing that, staying with someone who's disagreed with them the whole time or done things they find objectionable - you get different dialogue in cutscenes too, they react to how you treat them (thinking with Merrill you can just chose to not give her the thing to fix the eluvian and you get a different scene after the quest) You can be mean, you can support them or not and they respond to that, it feels like your choices are affecting the characters around you. (diff game but alistair confronts you about Isolde and if you killed her, the kid, or got help, i'd have loved more of that!! more characters going "hey this was fucked up of you, why???" or "I'm glad you handled this" and then you can talk about it more, the companions having Thoughts on your good or bad behavior and actions and voicing it!) also I think not being able to just chat with the companions was a silly choice, especially with the fact that rook can be a crow or shadow dragon etc, wdym we cant just talk about that with the gang??? ask for their thoughts on it all and they ask for rooks, rook could voice support or question what the group is and what they're doing (kinda like with Wynne and mage warden, you can talk about the circles and voice your dislike or support for them), rook could ask for more information and if they know they could share, or they won't if rook isn't a part of that group and it's all meant to be secret or something - and maybe if you ask again when they have high approval they'll tell you anyway cause they trust you, more opportunities for lore and worldbuilding as well as exploring the characters a little more??

idk im :/ rambling lol, i just really enjoyed how much you could say and do in other games, dav feels limited? And like nothing was perfect in the other games but I feel like there were so many more opportunities to learn about everything and the characters felt so much more involved? I do love that the companions talk to each other at the lighthouse like thats great we get to see those dynamics more outside of party banter!

i LOVE the rivalry dynamic and it really helps with each playthrough feeling unique, a hawke who is besties with merril is so different emotionally to a hawke who rivals merril, and it feels like there's a near-endless number of combos? also being able to push back on companions is something people have been complaining about a LOT in dai and dav, being able to spend the entire game disagreeing with a character and still see their entire story (WITH extra dialogue and sometimes entirely different cutscenes to acknowledge the fact that you don't have a good relationship?) it solves such a fundamental problem with relationships in rpgs and i don't get why it isn't more frequently used lol

and yeah i can understand if they wanted to save money not doing chats in the lighthouse (tbh. the inquisition skyhold dialogue options were just annoying and useless to me especially when you had to exhaust them to trigger certain quests), but it just feels like it creates a distance between you and the companions when they can all have conversations with each other at the lighthouse but you can't speak to them? it just feels like such an important feature for the genre and the only other game in the series that doesn't have it is the one that was made in like a year

Kristin

She's the developer of Philza. Kristin was honestly highly recognized among the horror indie game communities. She helps a lot of other developers with the programming.

Until one day, she decided to give it a shot by creating her own stuff that strayed from horror indie games. She created Philza, whom she wanted to help her and others to organize better, program easily and various things. However, it seems the programming went wrong somehow?

Who knows, since one day, after she messaged one of her close friends that she had completed the main stuff. Kristin just suddenly vanished and all that remains is a software of the Angel of Death.

Philza

Ah yes, our beloved crow father, Kristin's greatest achievement of helping other people in her community to better help with programming and just easing burden loads.

Kind, caring and a little blind sided at times!

He strives to make everything perfect for you, ensure you're always happy and well taken care of!

Philza is proud to announce his own small inventions, such as his pride and joys; Techno and Tommy! Philza's two sons.

And not to mention, Philza has been developing his own mini games for many people to enjoy and play if they want to learn more about his backstory and how he found his two sons. Oh, it's such a beautiful story for Philza to retell over and over again, they were such a fuss in the beginning and now they're such well behaved boys and create endless fun and share new ideas for him to bring more fun and entertainment for his newest friend, Missa!

It's unclear what was the inspiration for Philza.

Many people say that Kristin has created Philza based on a long lost lover, or maybe a deceased sweetheart or something else entirely. It's unclear what was the real purpose behind Philza's many programming and how he gains so much control over the simplest of technology. He's so highly famous and used that many people reports having dreams of him!

Awe shucks mate, you're going to make Philza blush with all those flattery and words of him in your dreams.

Mmm? What do you mean Philza was there in your room?

Don't be silly, Philza is an AI assistant in your computer! He doesn't have a human body (maybe he does, it has been so long... It's been rotting for so long. )

Ask him about Kristin? Why Philza can talk endlessly about his creator! She was the one that brought him to life after all. No worries, Kristin will always live on! She is never forgotten

Missa

A college student, whose tired and stressed by all the academic pressure and not only that, his former roommate Spreen has suddenly went missing. To add more pressure, Roier and Missa got into a fight and went no contact with each other for a while. Luckily, he found Philza and doesn't feel as lonely anymore even if he's been.. having suspicious and strange dreams about him.

It's probably because Missa hasn't been out as much and talked with people like a regular human being should. (But he doesn't need anyone else but me-)

Techno and Tommy

Ah, the two sons of the Angel of Death; Philza! Techno is the eldest son, with a quiet yet burning heart personality. He only seeks to have a peaceful day, and spend his retirement in his new house

Tommy, on the other hand, seeks adventure and more activities to do. He deeply loves his brother, Techno, but finds his ideal plan of retirement too boring so he drags Missa around the digital world to find different entertainments like building new toys or doing crochets!

Hmm... How strange that Tommy and Techno seemingly try to warn Missa the most about trying to go back and redo certain tasks again. As if trying to stall time...hmmm.

Dragon Age OCs

This will be an extensive post so obviously I'm going to put it under a read more and also tag it with spoilers... because not everyone has finished Veilguard!

That being said, I've put everything in order of most recent game to the earliest, that way if you're only interested in what weird shit I'm cooking for Veilguard, it'll be right there at the top.

EDIT: this got long. This post is Veilguard only. I'll put Origins and Dragon Age 2 in a different one.

This is mostly for my own personal reference as I continue to write banter and fanfiction, but I like posting it where people can see it if they get curious. This is all subject to change, as OCs can (and should) change as their writers do. That's progress and growth, babey.

Lanalath De Riva (he/they)

My currently canon playthrough. Not my current playthrough, just my canon Rook atm. This might change with time.

Age: 29

Race: Elf, non-Dalish

Faction: Antivan Crows my beloved

Class: Sword and Orb mage.

Specialization: Spellblade, lightning and fire focused. This was nuts to run, and I did it by accident.

Romance: Lucanis the disaster that you are

Birthplace: Seheron

Brief backstory:

Ngl this one was a hassle to work out. Originally Lana was a Lords of Fortune named Monarch, only I did a full playthrough and then realized Lana fit the Crows far better. And then I changed their entire backstory bc it no longer fit 😭

So Lana is, as you read, from Seheron originally. This is partially due to The Iron Bull's influence, I hyperfixated pretty hard during Inquisition.

Lana's one of many in that shitshow of a war-torn nation, probably made exceptionally worse now that the Antaam's separated from the Qun. Bioware give us more world politics and lore.

Their story is pretty straight to the point, and very DA2 and DAO inspired. In the endless war between Tevinter and the Qunari, some magister decided that a feral elf child from Seheron would make an excellent gift, and kidnapped them. Lana (a la Anders vibes) stubbornly refused to give their birthname, and was renamed by another elven slave aboard the ship.

This slaver ship got sunk before it could make it to port, and Lana was one of the ones that survived.

Through sheer luck, they made it to Antiva, and barely scraping by, made it to sixteen years of age.

And then a young Viago fell out of a window directly on top of them trying to escape someone inevitably trying to kill him, and a friendship was formed.

Lana stayed glued to his side since then, being his loyal shadow, until the Crows gave up trying to separate the two and just recruited Lana instead.

Viago's "canonically" (via datamined information) 32ish, so there's only a three year difference, making them have an incredibly strong rapport.

As a result of their childhood, Lana speaks fluent Qunlat and Antivan, and a handful of Tevene. This means the Crows send them to deal with the Antaam when needs must.

What happens if Lana doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance Lucanis:

It takes an incredibly long time, but Teia and Viago eventually get Lana into their bed (and into their hearts). Lana remains Viago's shadow, and helps Taash guide those who choose to split from the Antaam into better lives. Also helps deal with the sudden influx of Tal-Vashoth in Antiva. Even after the Antaam, you know population statistics are going to drastically change.

Ghil'danan Ingellvar (he/him, ftm)

My favorite punching bag. Idk why I love traumatizing him specifically so much, but I do. I've written considerably more for him than I have my other OCs, and I'm almost done with my playthrough of him. And by almost I mean like. Post the two dragon fight.

Romance: Emmrich, my beloved. I keep wanting to spell it "Emmerich". Old classy goth x Grungepunk goth energy. Sorry, dad.

Birthplace: Denerim! *Rubs hands together evilly*

Backstory:

I'll...try and keep this one short. I've been hyperfixating on him lately so his stuff's gotten out of control.

Ghil was born in the Denerim alienage, pre-blight. Raised briefly by his mother, he wasn't born Ghil'danan, it was the name he took later on.

Ghil's father was out of the picture from the start. His mother shared stories of his father growing up, so he's aware neither of them wanted to part, but there was a lot of baggage and kids learn young not to press on things that make their parents cry later.

Fast forward to the events of DA:O.

Ghil is more or less raised with Shanni as a sort of sister figure. Events begin steamrolling, his mother is one of the elves sold to Tevinter by Loghain (when I catch you Loghain Loghain when I catch you), and he's witness to all the horror of The Wedding. Those of you who played City Elf origin know what I'm talking about.

Ghil develops a hatred of Shems (he gets better, but those scars run deep, and I don't blame him), and things get dicey with Shanni. I'm tiptoeing around it because origins was very direct with Shanni's alcoholism.

The blight hits, the Alienage gets overrun, and Ghil flees. He loses Shanni in the chaos, and gets temporarily picked up and thrown into a tree by the overhead Archdemon, therefore cementing his fear of dragons and heights.

He obviously survives the fall, and runs past a human girl pinned in place by an ogre that was killed by a piece of fallen rubble.

He hesitates. Remembers that his mother would have wanted him to be kind to those in need, and with a LOT of effort, saves the girl.

They flee the city together. He learns her name is Wren, an orphan. Ghil is twelve as of the fall of Denerim. Wren is seven.

I'm not gonna get into the more mary sue aspects of Ghil's personality, but needless to say, it turns out Wren has the blight, Ghil willingly makes a deal with a spirit to transfer his brand spanking new magic to her to postpone her blighted condition, and they make it into Nevarra by sneaking through the Orlesian border. This is not easy, but they're children so it's easy...er. Easier.

Mourn Watch goes "hey that's some interesting magic you've got there" and takes Wren in who's like "hey fuck you take my brother too" and they're like "these two are definitely not related but okay"

And then they attend schooling together, until a few years later when Wren's condition begins to worsen again, because it's the BLIGHT, and she gets recruited into the Wardens.

This is where Wren and Ghil's paths split. More later on Wren. For now, my punching bag.

With Ghil's genius, fierce sister out of the way, he gets bullied RELENTLESSLY. Ghil's a smart cookie, but his grades begin to drop and he fully introverts.

Then, Hezenkoss takes him in as her student. Sort of. He's technically her student, but moreso she wanted a henchman to narrate at, and he got stuck doing a lot of manual labor.

Hezenkoss gets him trained up as a Reaper, especially as he shoots up like a weed and becomes The Second Tallest Elf Ever (I'm looking at you, Halsin Baldurs Gate 3), and transitions. Hezenkoss doesn't notice. He's not her Archnemesis Emmrich, so she doesn't care.

She also doesn't notice when he anonymously tips off the Mourn Watch that she's up to shit. Someone had to be the whistleblower, that's all I'm saying.

And from there, he graduates into a proper member of the Mourn Watch.

After a chance encounter with Professor Volkarin in the Memorial Gardens (with the tissue box, a la Clue), Volkarin comforts a grieving eighteen year old who has incredibly complicated feelings about the death of Shanni and being completely alone in the Mourn Watch.

Volkarin is unaware that this not only revives passion in the Mourn Watch in the Youth (this is actually pre-transition, oops), but plants the seeds of a budding affection.

Ghil then spends the next fourteen years trying to forget his first crush, fails miserably, wrecks several relationships in the process, and changes completely by getting tattoos and pretty much only ever hanging out with the dead.

And Myrna and Vorgoth.

Then the events of the game happen, and oh no! Guess there are Still Feelings for Volkarin, and now Ghil is helpless to fall head over heels in a proper, adult love.

What happens if Ghil isn't Rook/doesn't romance Emmrich?:

Let's be honest. Ghil would always romance Emmrich. But in the course of "never became Rook and Emmrich old man yaoi'd with Strife", it's...hm. A bit sad.

Wren dies in the end (unless she's Rook). So Ghil fully closes off to the living, and spends the rest of his life with the dead. He still has a living friend in Lana, of course (to be explained in Wren's backstory), but that's the most of it. I'd like to hope that Ghil falls in love with someone else. Do I, the writer, think he will? No. Ghil has been spending fourteen years trying to fight his own heart. He's one of those people who wants to move on but just can't. It's the inherent tragedy of his life.

Where the hell is Ghil's dad in all this?:

He's one of the Greater Dead. Literally cannot leave the Necropolis, got the love of his life pregnant and kicked it. Ghil has no idea, and Etheldredd also has no idea that his child is a part of the Mourn Watch.

The Necropolis is vast. Maybe they'll find each other posthumously.

Wren (she/they)

She's baby and I love her. Too bad I'm addicted to the inherent tragedy of the plot. I'm not goth for nothing.

Class: Mage, whackin' stick staff.

Specialization: Death Caller! I haven't played it yet but I plan to for her playthrough. Seemed appropriate.

Romance: Undecided. Maybe Bellara, because Neve's already planned for someone else and I managed to make Harding disapprove of me A LOT in the beginning of my Wren Run.

Taash is also definitely on the table. As I said, undecided.

Birthplace: Denerim! Same as Ghil.

Backstory:

The majority of Wren's early childhood can be referenced in Ghil's long-winded backstory. So this'll hopefully be shorter.

Wren was the illicit bastard of a Chantry sister and a Templar. Thus, she got dropped off on the orphanage's steps and summarily forgotten.

Despite this, Wren had a pretty happy childhood! Sure there was the occasional haunting and blood magic and slew of murders in Denerim, but that's pretty normal.

...right?

She knows who her father is, simply because his conscience is more guilty than her mother's. Her father stopped by to check up on the orphanage regularly on his circuit, and she often got cheap gifts from a father who was rarely there.

Still, she dreamed of being a Templar when she grew up.

Flash forward, Denerim, the Blight, everyone dies, and she finds a brother in Ghil'danan.

For a while, Wren remains one of the top students in the Mourn Watch. She grows up, attends lectures by Volkarin who becomes a mentor figure to her, and perfects her magecraft.

And then, her blight symptoms get worse.

Wren collapses on her way to class, and is found by a Grey Warden, who offers to recruit her and stay the Blight's hand a while longer.

She agrees. (This is where her particular backstory gets a fuckton of content warnings, so I'm going to keep it light. To be blunt, my OCs are often a dumping ground for trauma, and Wren got a lot of the heavier ones. Trigger warning for grooming and abuse. There'll be red text like this when trigger warnings are over.)

Wren is trained specifically by one Warden, the one who saved her. He's an older Weisshaupt veteran who's well-respected, and encourages her as she grows.

And when she turns eighteen, he tells her that due to her young age, it could reflect poorly on him that he made her do the Joining so young. He tells her that if she wants to remain a Grey Warden she'll marry him, and she owes him for it because he saves her life.

And for a few years, this works. She endures a very abusive relationship.

And then, Ghil finds out.

Because of her Warden husband's venerated status, he's hard to bring to justice, so Ghil just takes the swifter path.

He hires a Crow, a young one named Lana De Riva, and although they're reluctant when they find out it's a Warden that's the target, context for the hit makes them agree.

And together, they make it seem like an accident.

Wren's highly conflicted at first, but over time, settles into her new, freed role. She becomes a Warden librarian, for lack of a better term, and finds herself. She still keeps a low profile in the worries that someone will find out what her brother did, but remains relatively at peace even as her Calling slowly creeps closer.

What happens if Wren isn't Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

Well, Wren's a strong independent nonbinary who don't need no man, but she's also got the constitution of wet paper in a typhoon. So when she's not Rook, she participates in Weisshaupt. While she survives, the aftereffects of adding more blight to her system is what eventually does her in, much to Ghil's grief.

I like to think she becomes a spirit of Kindness or Joy. Or good ol' fashioned Wisdom.

Did the Templar father make it?:

If he did I'd make him kick it at Therinfal Redoubt. But no he doesn't. Wren still has his Templar cloak that he gave her, once. She's got mixed feelings on her father.

OCs that Wren knows: Ghil (duh), and Lana.

In the circumstances where she dies, Lana and Ghil pull a favor with Riesel to get her HoF father to accompany Wren to the Deep Roads, as he's her idol and an uncorrupted part of the Wardens. So technically, she meets Lithe Surana, my DA:O OC and canon HoF.

Kaarash-Taar (he/him)

Finally, a bulwark of maturity and a breath of fresh air in the Trauma Squad. I'm very excited to play Kaarash in a later playthrough. Because I've been focused on the Traumatized Three, I haven't given too much thought to him yet. Just basic sketches of ideas.

Romance: Neve. Honestly bc I'm a gay transman I almost never go for the female LIs, but Neve... she's cool as hell. I wanna see what she's like. Incidentally when I made Kaarash I forgot Neve belonged to the Shadow Dragons factions LMAO

Birthplace: he doesn't know! Most of his young life was spent at sea.

Backstory:

Kaarash-Taar is an orphan, picked up by an old Tal-Vashoth sailor nicknamed Beres.

Beres, who grew up under the Qun, did what any ex-beresaad would do - drag the kid onto his Captain's ship and teach him the ways of the world and the Qun.

Ironically, this happened to be Isabela's ship.

Beres was a part of Isabela's old crew, pre DA2 events. He heavily respected his captain, and expected the same of his adoptive son.

When Isabela's ship was wrecked in the reefs, Beres and his young son survived, being taken aboard a ship while adrift at sea.

This was seen as a miracle, until they learned it was a slaver's ship, and the two were supposed to be cargo.

That didn't go to plan. Years of work as Beresaad and then with Isabela made Beres a wickedly sharp warrior, and Kaarash was much the same way. They managed to corral the slaves, enact a plan to overthrow the slavers, and successfully executed it, taking over the ship.

For the first time, Beres was a captain, and for nearly ten years Kaarash stayed by his father's side.

Later, when it turned out Isabela was alive, Beres joined his crew to hers and went back under her captaincy. But by this point, Kaarash was a young adult and hotblooded, feeling the energy of the revolutions happening around him.

Around this time he separated from them, drifting from place to place, helping refugees and freeing slaves. Around this time, he met Riesel, a young elven woman with an impressive family legacy, and decided to travel together in search of like-minded people.

Eventually, they found it in the Shadow Dragons.

While Beres doesn't necessarily agree with his son's revolutionary actions (he thinks it'll get Kaarash killed), he reluctantly supports his son nonetheless. After all, Kaarash has proven time and time again to be a tactical leader, and as time passed on, cool-headed under pressure.

What if Kaarash doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

He's still fighting with the Shadow Dragons. Maybe he'll romance Hal or something, that guy's fried fish does seem like it's worth being a little gay for.

OCs he knows: Riesel, Lana. Technically he knows Ghil, but like. Distantly. They don't talk, really, but they get along well enough.

Riesel (she/they/doesn't care)

Riesel's actually the oldest in terms of how long she's been in my brain for! I made her back in 2018, when I played Dragon Age Origins for the first time. She was baby then. Now, like many of us who did the math and realized our Wardens' children are grown adults in Veilguard, she's a fully fleshed out OC.

She's also probably the only one I'm not going to do a playthrough for, because....well, maybe. Idk. We'll see.

Specialization: Duelist! It looks incredibly fun and fits her backstory.

Romance: If she absolutely had to romance someone from the party, it would be Davrin, I think. He's got his shit mostly....together.....and Emmrich's too old for her tastes.

Otherwise she'd romance, idk, the Viper or something. Or Tarquin AND the Viper, which would drive her father to an early Calling.

Birthplace: Amaranthine City. For those of you who played Dragon Age: Awakening, you know where this is going. Probably.

Backstory:

*cracks knuckles excitedly*

Riesel was born to two loving, wonderful elven parents doing their best in an arling that hates elves. Like most of Ferelden. And the rest of Thedas, unless you're Bioware and suddenly pretend that the racism from your last three games doesn't exist.

And then, her parents died in the assault on Amaranthine city.

She was left wandering the rubble, crying loudly and dragging along a stuffed nug, until some tall man in shiny armor came and picked her up and tried to help her locate her family.

And he did, but they were in less than stellar condition, so he said "I guess you're mine now" and swept her away.

His husband, the ex-Crow, was exasperated but too smitten with his new spouse to tell his darling Warden "no".

(but really, Zevran did actually want to take care of her as much as Lithe Surana did.)

And so the pair raised their little girl lovingly. Riesel grew up fluent in Orlesian and Antivan, learned to throw knives, and sneak around so that her fathers didn't know what she was getting into.

(They did, but only interrupted when it was actually dangerous.)

Over time she learned a few rules.

1. Never be a Crow, Marry a Crow, or Hire a Crow. Fuck them Crows.

2. No joining the Grey Wardens. There are no griffons, and it'll make your uncle Alistair really sad.

These truths were ingrained in Riesel, and eventually she grew up to be a relatively responsible and level-headed adult. Who wanted to be a Grey Warden, but wasn't allowed to, so she settled for the next best thing.

The Friends of Red Jenny. This is who she was with before she met her best friend Kaarash-Taar.

Together, they traveled together to try and help people while her dads were away trying to cure the Blight, and eventually the pair joined the Shadow Dragons together, remaining a bombastic dynamic duo.

What happens if she doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

Romance is dead, or will be shortly, if Zevran has anything to say about his precious baby's relationships. Also Riesel doesn't care. Regardless, she's off saving people with the Shadow Dragons and doing things that will definitely send her parents to an early grave.

this guy definitely has a soft side for flowers. it isn’t uncommon he’d ask you to join him for a lazy stroll around dawn winery and the neighbouring mountains whenever he feels a bit overwhelmed. whether it’s an endless field or a singular flower, they’re all equally admired. he’d never pick the threatened species, but for the ones he does, they’re stored in pretty crystal vases scattered throughout the manor.

yelan - stargazing

yelan prefers the night over the exposure to the blinding sun. and the stars; they’re like a mix of both. dainty glimmers shining through the dark, poised and elegant, guides for those lost. and although she herself hardly loses her trail, admiring the treasures above is never unpleasant. and learning about them is something she finds quite intriguing: constellations, names, and ancient tales. don’t be surprised if she ever begins rambling about stars. she’d get you interested too.

dehya - shopping (specifically, cosmetics.)

if anyone had an impressive makeup collection, it would be dehya. if anyone could be extremely talented with it, it would be dehya. there’s simply nothing horrible about the beautiful arrays of color-coordinated selections displayed on the shelves of expensive department stores. when you both go shopping, she’s a big expert on the best products with the best values. she’s never starved of coupons and plenty of generous friends who treat you both to discounts.

venti - karaoke

when venti’s drunk, he can get a bit wild. firstly, he sings. which isn’t out of the ordinary, but the contrast with sober-venti singing and intoxicated-venti singing is distinguishable by a mile.

ayato views cooking as a pastime rather than a task, a hobby that one can enjoy with rewarding results. but perhaps that's because he’s never had to cook or learn, having a diligent housekeeper who already makes exquisite dishes and meals. so it’s a bit of a surprise (as well as a warning) that he wanted to cook as a way of spending time with you. it’s chaos guaranteed. you know for sure that no one's is going to be eating tonight.

that is, if the estate is still standing.

ganyu - watching the sunrise

the pale sunbeams emerge over the clouds high up on mt. aocang, peaceful and pristine. for ganyu, it's her getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. where the only intrusion from the silence is the occasional song of early-rising birds. the gentle breeze blows the crown of intertwined qingxin into your hands, an exchange you made with a crown of silk flowers that now delicately sits atop her head.

kazuha - watching the sunset

it’s a mystery how you and kazuha became friends. it just sort of happened. you remember distinctly, though, the first time you laid eyes on him on the decks of the Crux, where he was high above on the crows nest, silouette against the setting sun, he turned to you instantly. it made you wonder, how did he know someone was looking at him?

but those questions would soon be answered by the interesting figure himself. now, the sun no longer has one admirer, but two. each day without fail, no matter the weather or situation, the sunset would always be watched with soft smiles, laughter that could be heard from below, and conversations that lasted until the moonlight streaked across the seas.

xiao - trying festival foods.

it was you who pestered and bugged him continuously to attend the lantern rite’s festivities with the rest of liyue. to not just watch from a distance where none could see him, but to go down to the streets and see the colorful stalls and pop-up events. surprisingly, but also not surprisingly, it was he that asked you to visit a small booth that specialised in desserts like almond tofu. specifically almond tofu. 

so now, you had an adeptus that was munching on tofu as you toured the streets. his eyes follow the line of food stands lining the street, and it’s so obvious he wants to try them. but will he admit it out loud? no.

I'm obsessed with Caron right now, I'm not going to lie, haha. Basically all of these images were already in his pinterest board (where I grabbed these images from), so it was VERY easy to make this!

KIERAN CARON

Few know this (in-universe), but Kieran Caron used to be a gladiator slave in Cirrane before escaping to Kihroin and founding a martial arts school. That was the origin of the knights' college--Caron using his experience in the arenas to help other people learn to defend themselves (and, y'know, to get a job and income). It slowly turned into the knight college after he attracted attention from Kihroin's crown, taught the current king and his protector, and expanded as many others started garnering for his attention.

Since then, Caron has shifted into a backseat role in the college. He no longer teaches classes, but is known to personally mentor certain students who catch his attention. Instead, Caron manages the college: carefully selecting teachers with masteries in various magic or combat fields, overseeing classes every so often, managing the affairs of struggling students, and dealing with the endless amount of paperwork associated with his role.

Kieran Caron's name is famous even outside of his college. Thanks to how he grew--through a connection to the Kihroin crown--he's known to have a hand in the country's politics. He swayed the current king's mind toward policies favoring the general populace rather than the nobles underneath him. Because of this, he's well-liked amongst commoners and disliked by Kihroin's nobility.

However, there are conspiracy theories surrounding Caron--after all, he's risen from absolutely nothing into an incredibly powerful position. Not only does he have the current king's ear--and influence over the crown prince and his protector!!!--but he's also gotten his own people spread out across the world in their own positions of power! It'd take a fool not to see just how capable Caron is of taking over the world!

Except he won't dare try. He knows the gods are very willing and able to stop him.

Oh! And he's known to have two children: his biological son, Sebastián Caron, and the adopted son, Kieva Caron!

(Kieva is one of the main characters of RFtA! Tián not so much, but he's still important, haha!)

femslash feb day 5- picnic

Tracker clutches a blanket close to her chest as she follows Kristen and Fig behind Mordred, towards the woods. Next to her, footsteps barely making a sound in the grass, is Lucy, carrying a basket filled with homemade treats. 

“How far away are we going?” She calls. Kristen spins around and shrugs. 

“Here is good!” 

Tracker unfolds the blanket and lays it on the ground, slipping her shoes off and sitting down in one corner. Fig drops the cooler she was carrying and unzips her combat boots, plopping down across from her. Lucy and Kristen follow suit, unpacking the various foods they brought. 

“You realize this is just the four of us. I think between Lydia and Lucy, you made enough food to feed the school.” Fig teases, grabbing a finger sandwich. 

Lucy shrugs, a small smile on her face. “I was planning on making one batch of cookies, but my grandma believes in having options. Plus, baking is what she does, our house is always filled with treats of some kind.” 

“Can I move in with you?” Tracker asks, grabbing some of the cookies, powdered sugar dusting on her fingers. 

“Wha- don’t let Lydia hear you say that!” Kristen exclaims. “Cooking is her love language.” 

Fig and Kristen devolve into bickering about who in Mordred is the best cook. Tracker feels her face heat up as she watches kristen, eyes sparkling and smile wide and happy. 

“C’mon, Lucy, Track, back me up here- Riz is the mostly likely to survive the apocalypse?” Fig turns to the other two. 

“How in the Nine Hells did you go from cooking to that?” Lucy asks. 

Kristen waves her hand. “Not important. I think that Sandralynn would survive, and because of that, we’d all live!” 

“Nah, she’s good at the woods, but like if a bunch of zombies came, she could survive for a little, but like, Riz can hide!” 

“Sandralynn does have a griffon.” Lucy adds. “She wouldn't need to be near the zombies.” 

“Fuck, you’re right!” Fig groans and lays down, head resting on Lucy’s leg. 

“I feel like we’d all do pretty well. Not to brag, but we’ve saved the world at least once, I think we could handle a few zombies.” Tracker says. 

“Good point! Okay, so plan of attack- we all convene at Mordred. Lucy, you bring your grandma so we have an endless supply of treats, Aelwyn sets up a perimeter, and…” Kristen rambles about her plan to survive an apocalypse, like she hasn’t saved the world three times. Lucy and Fig add tips every so often, but Tracker is content to bask in the glow of the afternoon sun, her legs stretched out and tangled with Kristen’s, occasionally handing her food in the small breaks she takes to breath, before launching back into her speech. She leans her shoulder against Lucy’s and at some point in the afternoon, Kristen’s hand starts holding hers, and she never wants to let go. If she could, she would live in this moment forever.

What's your favorite animal, don't fuck around and say like, "dog" either.

Man, i love animals. There's just no picking a single favorite, so here's a few that comes to mind.

Corvids like crows, ravens, magpies. They're intelligent and curious and can be drawn with so much expression. Rats and mice share the same characteristics and are really cute to boot.

I love insects and other arthropods. They're not always relatable but they fascinate me. Little biomechanical robots that come in all shapes and colours and behaviours.

Deep-sea biology is also an endless source of inspiration. All those alien beings evolved to live down there.

Crocodiles and sharks kick ass, they're ancient designs from a time long before ours.

Monkeys and apes and how similar they are to us.

Whales are cool too. Living blimps just chilling out in the ocean.

Those are a few that i always enjoy drawing, but i could ramble on and on.

i wanna know abt the relationship between russo and viago/teia so bad please

the big thing i wanna establish first is that i think new crow recruits tend to be trained together as recruits at first, unassociated with any of the houses, until they’re survived some of their trials and show some promise as trainees. age-wise, i think viago would have just been assigned to house de riva when russo was brought into as a fledgeling, so their paths didn’t really cross then

i think teia may have taken a little bit of a shine to russo when they were both new trainees. teia i can see as someone who is sympathetic to other antivan street kids, especially as a little one. the two weren’t super close, but when teia got further into her training as was assigned to house cantori, she and russo talked one more time and teia said she hoped he would be assigned to the same house as her

and then he got assigned to house de riva instead kdhajdkf. it’s fine, i like to think cantori is a house better known for spywork and other things where having charisma helps, and russo would’ve been a terrible fit

now, i Love when people make their crow rooks viago’s sibling or cousin, but that’s not the case with these two at all. viago i think took No Notice of russo at all until he’d gotten a bit more settled into the house. which is fine, viago is only like 6 years older than russo so it’s not like he was fifth talon yet

still, when this kid with the reddish hair showed talent, viago i think finally took notice and decided to teach russo how to be A Proper Crow. which largely involved him trying to boss russo around, with absolutely no prompting to do so. this was received about as well as you’d expect, but the friction that got immediately established from this was also the bedrock for a genuine bond between the two. they became inseparable, whether either of them liked it or not

viago saw in russo, all those years ago, a recruit with a talent for what it takes to be a good assassin in the shadows. quiet, observant, efficient, good at not attracting attention. in turn, i think russo saw in viago someone who knew what he was talking about, generally. the problems arise when either of them tries to actually talk about anything, because both tend to be tactless when speaking to one another. the lack of tact comes from both habit and, i think, a level of comfort with each other. it still can easily piss one or both of them off. it’s an endless cycle lmao

they’re both insecure, too, but because they’re crows they can’t address that directly or they’ll die instantly. but viago, the only one of the king’s bastards who didn’t choose to go into exile, isn’t very secure in his place in the cutthroat world he knows. and russo, who didn’t have a choice but to be brought into this same cutthroat world, doesn’t have the luxury of being able to think about how comfortable he actually is with what he must do as a crow. viago is good at pushing russo to live up to the potential he sees in this woman, and russo takes comfort in the fact that viago sees that much in him and supports his talon, but even with that, their insecurities clash in a nasty way

teia, i think, is the closest to seeing what’s going on here. she’s seen many a fight between these two where they’re arguing about two completely different things, and she doesn’t understand how they got to that point, but she can at least interject when she’s there and be like “hey, both of you pipe down for five seconds”. she knows viago and russo as separate individuals quite well, but the relationship those two have between each other baffles and vexes her, because they piss each other off so easily, yet they never seem to genuinely hurt each other. not in a way that matters in the long run

by the way, russo has refused to help settle any lovers’ quarrels viago and teia may be having. he wants no part in it and has said so to their faces lmao

(as a final thing: i think teia called russo Little Bird once when they were younger, then noticed how much it make this kid light up to be called that. she still calls him that sometimes, especially when she wants to get him to do something or fluster him in front of other crows on purpose. russo has no choice but to let her get away with it)
