Fortunately, Katniss “Nepo Baby” Everdeen is not gonna be like her super famous crazy singing rainbow bird grand aunt (Lucy Gray) because our ✨Girl on Fire✨ will have the same serious personality as her canon self.

But she’s also going to volunteer steal poor little Prim’s spot (out of spite and for fun) as D12’s official ✨Panemvision Female Tribute✨💅.

Unfortunately, Catnip’s greatest rivals will be Glimmer (D1’s youngest and fairest opera singer), Cato (D2’s hottest theatre nerd and rock whispering prodigy) and Clove (D2’s youngest broadway musical genius).

Moreover, Peeta Mellark (who whistles like a pro) will be Katniss Everdeen’s official “duet partner” because her extremely gorgeous Capitol Mentor, Seginus Cadmus Plinth-Snow-Creed-Price (AKA: the gorgeous grandson of Coryo, Sejanus, Festus, and Persephone) got stuck in a dusty broom closet with poor sensitive Philip Anthony Ravinstill-Anderson (AKA: the wacky socialite grandson of Felix and Androcles).😅

Nevertheless, here are some other interesting “facts” in this weird timeline:

1. Primrose and Buttercup (the crusty cat) are the unapologetically ruthless founders and leaders of the infamous Anti-Katniss Everdeen Fan Club. #antivolunteer #realroseofD12

2. Poor Peeta had to fight a jealous Gale Hawthorne (via dance off battle) in order to defend his “rights” as D12’s official male Tribute for the upcoming Panemvision competition.

3. Crazy Lucy Gray married Panini Panlo for fun. She also had a lot of kids with him for fun.

4. Coryo and President Sejanus are still madly in love with each other even after the birth of their 35th grandchild.😍😂

5. Hilarius Heavensbee is the favorite nanny of Sejanus and Coryo’s grandchildren.

6. Glimmer is a very popular opera singer in D1 because of Facet and Velvereen’s influence.

7. Rue can’t sing to save her life because of Reaper Ash (but don’t ask why).😔

8. Foxface is the “Hannah Montana” of her District.

9. Brandy is still a self proclaimed werewolf.

22. The Plinth-Snow Dynasty is still the most powerful and influential family in Panem thanks to old scheming Strabo and the Grandma’am.

23. Mags and Mizzen are cousins.

24. Maude Ivory is still busy selling and reselling popcorn balls with Mrs. Everdeen (illegally).

25. One of Sejanus and Coryo’s gorgeous sons (Cepheus) married Panlo and Lucy Gray’s youngest daughter (Poppy) because of ✨love✨ political reasons.😏

What We Know About Okyann

(as of the second beta; last updated 8/27/23!)

Kayo Tomiyama, codename Okyann, is a 44 year-old housewife, and family friend of Wonder's who is very talkative. She joins the team as a "Phantom Idol", or cognitive teammate.

Notably, Kayo's design changed drastically between the two betas- in the first beta, this was her appearance:

Her Japanese voice actress is Atsuko Tanaka.

With a text icon appearing for her in the data, and with Kayo being a Phantom Idol, she's likely to be a Confidant of Wonder's eventually.

In the story, Kayo appears on three separate occasions. The first time, she runs into Wonder in front of his house as he's heading to school, and gushes about how he's grown up so handsome since she last saw him, and mentions Wonder's mother. She goes on to talk about how her "Darling" also went to Kokatsu Academy, and mentions the directions to get there. She eventually lets Wonder leave and head to school.

The second time, she comes across Wonder in Shibuya, shortly after he's returned from going to Kiuchi's Palace for the first time. When he asks her about a crafting table (which he needs to make infiltration tools), she mentions there's a secondhand shop in Yongen-Jaya that might have one, and rambles on a bit more before continuing on her way.

The third time is again on Wonder's way to school, where she asks about his health. She fusses over this, and brings up the problem with phantoms, saying she'd have some more peace of mind if she knew he had medicine, recommending Tae Takemi's clinic in Yongen-Jaya to him. After a moment, she admits she doesn't actually know what medicine would help with phantoms, or much about them in general.

Kayo is very friendly and outgoing, seeming to be the type that loves to chat and gossip (even to her friend's son, if he happens to be nearby). She seems attached to her "Darling" (likely a family member, possibly specifically her husband), and mentions them in at least two of the three conversations you have with her in the second beta.

Translated information mentions that she used to be a fashionista when she was younger, and her phantom thief attire and attitude seems to suggest she was specifically a gyaru (or, at the very least, had an interest in gyaru fashion), as Okyann's hairstyle, darkened skin tone, manner of speech, cellphone decoration, and dancing are all directly associated with gyaru.

Her Persona is Cleodora (based on a water nymph with the gift of prophecy in Greek mythology), and functions as a navigator.

While she doesn't strictly have a melee or ranged weapon as a navigator, P5X does have tools that the navigators use for their abilities, also obtained through the weapon gacha, and hers are flip phones.

There's also some information from the game data that may be spoilers, so I'm putting it under a cut.

A Shadow Kayo 3D model was found in the second beta's data, along with pieces for her Shadow's portraits in both betas' data. It's likely she is a future Palace ruler, though it's unknown when her Palace will come up in-game if so. Her first beta "original design" may actually have been an altered version of her Shadow's model and portraits.

What is possibly her Shadow's more monstrous form also has hints in the data, as there is a "chiyome" battle portrait in both betas' data, and Cleodora was mislabeled as "chiyome" in her own battle portrait in the second beta's data.

Mattel Disney Princess

I’ve gotten a couple of the Mattel DP dolls and thought I’d share my findings lol Re: hair type; the general rule seems to be that if a doll has relatively straight and loose hair or a very simple style, she will have poly- if the doll has bangs, short hair or any kind of specific hair style or a style that requires gelled curls or (in Moana’s case) textured curls, she will have saran. From what I’ve been told by designers at Mattel, they really do try to work saran into as many dolls as possible and usually reserve poly for dolls with longer/straighter hair (that won’t be damaged as easily through play) or colors that can’t be found in saran; this isn’t a steadfast rule and it really depends on the line and particular doll, but that’s what I’ve been told and what I’ve generally noticed since Mattel started using poly. Based on photographs and videos, my tentative guesses for the budget dolls are that budget Ariel, Pocahontas, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Raya and Elsa- are all poly. The other budget dolls are saran as far as I know.  Deluxe dolls are more likely to have saran but it’s not guaranteed, for example the Deluxe Elsa dolls have poly (I think) but the Hairplay Rapunzel doll has floor length saran hair, and the singing Moana is also saran!  

Of the budget dolls I have Pocahontas (probably my favorite), she has polypropylene hair but it is so straight and simply packaged that it comes with absolutely no frizz and all it took was a quick boil and flat iron to make it look not just nice, but actually gorgeous and sleek and shiny!

I might even prefer it over g3 Cleo’s poly honestly, it’s that nice lol  I absolutely adore the sculpts for this line so far and Pocahontas is definitely one of my favorites! It only took Mattel, like...30 years to make a new Pocahontas sculpt and it was well worth the wait imo because this is probably her best sculpt of any brand!  My only real issue with Pocahontas is that she has really skinny short legs, which will undoubtedly be present on any version of her with non-sculpted clothing so I’ll have to find a Tall Fashionistas leg donor in her skintone lol I also have the Singing Moana doll! Her (saran) curls were very damaged from the packaging so I just went ahead and straightened them, she was my first Mattel DP doll from this launch and I LOVE her face!! I wasn’t able to get the Deluxe Ariel dolls when they first launched so I’m glad Moana could be my first instead lol

I also have the Hairplay Rapunzel!

I hate her crown honestly, it’s just so large and weirdly proportioned lol Sculpted top, fabric skirt. I’ll be controversial for a second and say that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sculpted tops and I don’t know how anyone was expecting Mattel to do full fabric dresses for the 10$ budget dolls considering it has been the industry standard for almost a decade at this point, but I don’t know why the hell this doll has one- not just because she’s 23$, but also because the hair gets stuck in her hinged shoulder joints lol.  If that weren’t an issue I would have considered leaving her like this because I actually think the sculpted top is really nice, but I went ahead and ordered the Rapunzel and Maximus doll set to steal her body, because that one does have a fabric dress for some reason lol 

(the original Maximus set head is poly btw)  It really is surprising what a fabric dress and saran hair does to improve an entire doll, even a printed (albeit well made) dress like this one lol

I’ve rarely liked the Rapunzel dolls made by any company, but I really love this one’s sculpt and screening- she reminds me of the 2015 Signature Rapunzel doll from Mattel but with a much softer expression!  These all have UV facial screenings, by the way; pixelated screenings have honestly never bothered me in certain contexts and I like the level of detail they can get with UV, (and that they have a lower frequency of wonk than traditional slide-decals and spray screening) but I figured I would note for anyone who absolutely hates UV screening lol Also, the non-budget Rapunzel dolls come with a frying pan that doubles as a hairbrush, which is the funniest and coolest design for a Rapunzel accessory I’ve ever seen lol 

I remember wanting an accessory for her like this when I was younger and it’s just so funny that they actually did it lol  And since Rapunzel is my only 2023 Mattel DP doll that I have with fabric clothing right now, here’s a quick body comparison!

L-R: Short flat foot Hasbro DP body, 2000′s Mattel short DP body, 2023 Mattel short flat foot body and a Petite Barbie body!  The short Disney princess body from Mattel is actually one of my favorite body sculpts from Mattel, but I do really love this new one! I like the larger feet, the slightly more graceful hands and the fact that the 2023 waist is wider than the bust which is my only gripe with the older version lol  The new Mattel dolls also have shorter necks than before (similar to the G3 MH dolls) so any rebodying with MtM or Fashionista bodies will give them a much longer neck lol  Anyway, while this line is definitely not perfect and I have my own personal critiques, I am actually pleased with a lot of the offerings from Mattel so far and I appreciate them for what they are; the head sculpts are all very nicely done (some of them are the best versions for their respective characters across the board even), the screenings are nice, the accessory sculpts are clever and interesting and the relative frequency of saran hair is a gift from the heavens after all these years of Hasbro princesses with poly hair across the board lol I was never expecting this line to be what other people wanted it to be; it’s pretty clear that Disney wants the Disney Princess line to be marketed for a much younger demographic than a Monster High doll and I can only assume the sculpted tops are working for them if they’ve been so prevalent after all these years, and if they keep the sculpted clothing within the 10-15$ range I don’t think it’s that big of a deal- and I do think there is enough demand for a more ‘deluxe’ set of dolls from Mattel with fabric clothing and full saran hair at a 20-25$ price point, so I hope they make an effort to do more dolls with fabric clothing. And  I would LOVE to be able to get my hands on a Pocahontas and Moana with fabric clothing instead of having to cover their sculpted tops with big baggy sweaters and jumpsuits lol  (oh, and if you want to call any of my dolls ugly, keep it in your own post- I don’t want to hear it! xx)

Matthew I like because I am also a chronic fashionista. My closet looks like a costume shed and has about that much material in it too. I have so much jewellery I need a replica salmagundi tin to store it out. I may not be addicted to any dangerous substances but I have a serious retail therapy problem and boy does it show.

I may not relate much to the rest of Alastair's story but I know what it's like to have the kid you called best friend for five years throw gravel at you, it does things to the brain and he'll always have a place in my heart for surviving that with me.

Thomas because this guy has hidden depths. He looks like he's just this kind doofus but he has so many more layers than that and I especially love the angry ones.

Matthew: I don't usually deal with headcanons about canon where [we know what] happened but I do have this one about that—in his grief and also in attempting to grow closer to his father he tries approaching science from a theatre perspective. He befriends a few stage effects people, gets them to help him understand how this chemistry stuff works. And then he accidentally gets himself way too into the backstage side of theatre. Maybe as a Shadowhunter he can't act on stage which would be his preference but nobody said he couldn't take home a project or two for an overwhelmed costume mistress or be an advising consultant on Baroque furniture for the set people or—

Alastair: he started messing with his hair when he was in the Academy already, even before he started dyeing it. Elias wouldn't shell out cash for Alastair to get his hair cut while he was there and he wasn't going around with long hair other people could pull, no sir, plus he wasn't facing down his father's insults about it, so he taught himself to do it. He'd hack away with the shears and the first few times it looked absolutely horrendous but with practice he learned tricks and got better. Between that and the hair dye he's actually secretly a really good hairstylist but nobody will ever know because he won't do it for anyone else. After the events of Chain of Thorns he decides he'll give in and try having someone else cut his hair, he doesn't have to do it anymore so he can lay off and relax now. He hates it. It doesn't look right. The barbers don't know his style the way he does. He goes straight back to doing it himself.

Thomas: he likes knit sweaters/jumpers, which are just barely starting to become a Thing then, and they'll really kick off during the wars. Particularly argyle and cable-knit. They're warm, he looks good in them, and they go on and off a lot easier than waistcoats. The problem is they're not easy to find in his size. He has to order in from some obscure local company in some small town somewhere and spend nearly as much on postage as he does on the sweaters themselves.

23 is hard because I do not under any circumstances have good answers for this nor energy to dig them up because I interact with the art so little. Like, it exists, I'm aware of it, I've seen it, but it's not my preferred way of engaging the media so I kind of like it all equally and don't really have attachments.
