#the hollow superhero school au

Note
HI HELLO ok so for the superhero au you've got going on, i was wondering if you were somewhat following canon for their power discovery or if you were doing ur own thing? like, does vanessa start flying because she fell tying her shoe next to a cliff?
also, i notived u didnt include kai's knack for mechanics! does that not count as a superpower here or is it just not a thing in ur au? :0
HIHIHI!
And yeah your right on the nail for Vanessa 😭
Im also gonna be so honest here I completely forgot that Kai’s mechanic abilities were part of his powers in the show—
I think I tricked my mind into believing his mechanic abilities were a talent he formed all on his own, which I like better, and just now remember is a headcanon of mind and not actual canon … Oops.
Anyway, take this as me saying that yes—his mechanic abilities dont count as powers.
But! Ill say he tried really hard to learn engineering as a crutch for his ‘loss’ of powers, using his talent to keep up with his peers before discovering his fire manipulation.
(Tysm for the ask!!!!)

What I really appreciate about some Marvel phone games, and have never seen in a DC game, is the understanding that Aesthetics are Important, and that comics fans are often Collectors.
Like, my beloved Avengers Academy game, and now Marvel Snap, are centred around collecting the cool characters I love (or tolerate), and then giving them cool clothes(/art styles).
Avengers Academy mostly dispensed with gameplay OTHER than this mechanic, and was a beautiful perfect unashamed high school AU that transformed violent crossovers into fun battle of the bands episodes, or science fairs. Marvel Snap uses metallic foil and holographic variant cards as it's leveling up mechanic, and lets you save up points for pretty artwork variants. (I'm collecting Scottie Young baby variants. I have a Morbius the Living Vampire guzzling a baby bottle of blood. Hehe!)
Also, Marvel Snap gave me a Jubilee card whose only power is calling another card from the deck to aid her. It understands the characters!
It's also unashamed of Marvel's back-catalogue. My icon is Forge! I have Swarm, a Nazi made of bees, and Zabu, a sabretooth tiger who is the pet of Marvel's Tarzan knockoff, Kazar. I have different decks centred around Magneto, Jubilee, Odin, Devil Dinosaur, and Bishop! SOME of those names are reasonably well known!
I know that all the superhero fighting games are also appealing to a type of fan, but it isn't the type I am. I memorize the names of hundreds of characters and then want to see them interacting and looking cool. Snap doesn't have the bonding I desire, but it ticks all the other boxes. It's fun.
(It's also trying to activate my ADHD addiction circuits, but I am strong. And was raised by a man who hates spending money. And understand how hollow things become if I pay to win. Not even Jubile variants will sway me!)

Ghost (Cow)boy Danny master-post for your ghostly cowpoke needs.
(Stickers & Prints) (Ko-fi)
Full Cowboy au under the cut vvv (copy+pasted from my other post)
The Fentons run a classic little family farm that Jack inherited from his dad. He met Maddie at University and they decided to take over the farm’s operation when they graduated. FentonWorks is small and not heavily industrialized. They mainly harvest hay with a minor side hustle of beef & dairy. In the summer  Jack and Maddie have less time to actively go ghost hunting and work on their inventions b/c running a farm takes A LOT of work.  But hey, they've been at it for years and they're still fanatics who will stop at nothing (also they earn quite a bit of passive income from their ‘normal’ patents).
It's been a long time since they've worked on the Portal Project, which they keep out in the old barn. The kids used to be banned from the old barn (because of chemicals and big equipment of course). Now as a teen Danny A.) Doesn't care about the rule anymore, and B.) Is old enough to "not get himself killed in a dumb old barn."
TAKE A WILD GUESS WHAT HE DOES NEXT.
He's in there with Sam and Tucker trying to find some “old stuff” when he moves a pile of junk and reveals the half finished portal. It's big and hollow like a secret passageway built right into the wall. His parents never could get it to work but it still looks cool as heck. Sadly they never covered Interdimensional Portals in Farm Safety at school 😔.  So the obvious answer is to step inside and well, you know what they say about curiosity and cats....
RIP Danny’s normal human existence. 👻🤠
Miscellaneous Bits:
Amity Park is located in Iowa or Kansas. Something with those spooky Midwest vibes idk American geography.
Team Phantom are 16-17-ish.
After Danny’s accident most of the farm animals treat him differently. The cats are having none of it, the cows don't care, the horses were skittish and skeptical at first but have since stopped caring. And for some reason the chickens like him more now?? Then again, chickens are just like that. They can sense power...
Tucker is a town kid. He and Danny spend a ton of time at Danny’s place running around outside and getting into all kinds of trouble together. Danny likes hanging out at Tucker’s house in town and enjoys the novelty of walking around town just to get snacks. Tucker loves the Fenton’s horses to death but the chickens do not respect him at all.
Sam is still a rich kid but the thing her family is famous for inventing is more agriculturally based. She’s really into sustainability, sourcing locally, and encouraging native plant species. Big into using glass and wood over plastics. Danny and Tucker help her refurbish and sell old tools and furniture. She wants to turn it into a business one day. (This is why they were poking around in the Fenton’s barn the day of the accident.)
They may live in the “bible belt” in this au but Sam is still Jewish. I feel the need to specify b/c I’ve seen fics that give Sam “Strict Christian Parents” and Western aus often have that stereotype.
Jack and Maddie have one hard ghost hunting rule and that's they only  fuck with settler ghosts. Native ghosts and spirits are off limits.  (The canon ghost “dream catcher” can go not exist please. The Ghost Catcher in this au is based on a butterfly net or fly swatter.)
Danny’s main focus is small, local hauntings and helping people move on or find their way into the Zone, rather than big extravagant fights. Less ‘Superhero’ and more ‘Paranormal Slice-of-Life’. But when he does get into a tussle some poor farmer is going to be very confused as to how their field got ripped shreds overnight.
Danny kind of gets a reputation for being a Medium/Psychic since he helps with hauntings, missing people, cold cases and finding old graves whenever he can (<- I saw this in a fic recently and I really enjoyed the idea so I’m including it. Shout out to  Seasilver‘s A Proper Home )
Vlad?? Exists??? Yeah. He more or less follows the same path as canon but with a western twist. He’s either an oil baron or decided to branch DALVco out into agriculture and owns a few mega farms.
Maddie and Jack wear coveralls instead of hazmats. Same colours tho.
Things that go bump in the night are not limited to just ghosts 👀  And Danny is definitely not at the top of the supernatural food chain (though he is up there).
If anyone wants to take these ideas a write something feel free to do so!
Respect nature, and if you can, source your food locally!

Sal’s Art Den
Salutations! I’m Salenna, a fox artist passionate about storytelling, drawing, prose, music, and several other forms of art. You can find most of my art in #Sal Draws (older stuff, from before I started doing digital art, is tagged as “sketchbook”) and my writing in #my writing. I’m also Salenna on Ao3.
While Ladybug Classic is my most active special interest atm, I’m also into Hollow Knight, Psychonauts, Undertale/Deltarune, and some of d20’s campaigns, and may post about them (or whatever else I get into) occasionally.
I’m not a minor, and while I don’t post anything NSFW here (there’s still the occasional suggestive joke, tho), I have more than one work that touches on heavy topics and I don’t tend to filter out language.
My felinette fanfics and others are organized under the cut:
Completed works:
Trickster - Fox!Félix AU - Tag: #Trickster AU - First installment for my main project (read: favorite child), an AU that starts off with the usual post-chameleon salt-fic setup (with some spins on it), but it’s completely non-canon compliant with rewrites and rearrangements on the lore and timeline as well as several characters’ overhaul. Felinette slow burn with focus on developing other friendships too. Superhero, family, and school drama. Link to the whole series.
As Marinette, she already lost. As Ladybug, she couldn’t afford to lose. So when a Trickster offered a hand in exchange for the foxtail pendant he already took, she couldn’t afford to lose it.
Symphony of Lights - Completed - Childhood Friends AU - Tag: #SoL AU - A short romantic fic focusing on Félix’s and Marinette’s reconnection during adulthood after years separated. Features some pre 3d Miraculous concepts and lots of indulgence with my autistic Félix and ADHD Marinette headcanons. The series also features oneshots that take place either in their childhood (pre-Symphony of Lights) or their adulthood (post-Symphony of Lights).
The Festival of Lights is soaring in the streets of Paris and Félix is enjoying it in a quiet corner of a café when a familiar face walks in.
On-going works:
City of Fools - Fox!Félix AU - Tag: #City of Fools - A direct sequel to Trickster, and while the 1st fic had already stepped out of canon compliance and into fanon territory by the end of it, this sequel is gonna dive way further into the AU-ness of it all, from the Miraculous lore to the introduction of some concept characters (at the moment, only one is for certain, but who knows). If that isn’t for you, feel free to ignore this and treat Trickster as a self-contained story (which it is! I just felt like exploring more of the AU in other fics).
“In a city governed by fools, it’s not through the conventional and orderly that you’ll come out on top.”
———
After defeating Hawkmoth and saying goodbye to her teammates for the summer break, Marinette moves with her newly divorced maman to a new place in Canal Saint-Martin. There, Sabine hopes to start anew with her daughter and the four magical beings they brought along.
Of course, things don’t stay calm for long. Especially once new and old foes start popping up.
Good thing a certain fox decides to come back to Paris prematurely.
Double Major in Psyche - Butterfly Hero AU - Tag: #Psyche-nauts - A Psychonauts-inspired AU where the Butterfly can enter people’s minds to help them with their problems (magical or otherwise). Technically a college AU as well, as both Félix and Marinette are in university. Deals with themes regarding mental health—mainly depression and trauma—but the overall tone is mostly lighthearted.
Paris has been dealing with wishes being granted and heroes sprouting left and right for a good while now. And under all this tumultuous, a small butterfly has been jumping from mind to mind, helping everyone he can with their mental demons.
Marinette was one of these people, and after her own wish manifested itself in the form of a mouse, she decided to help him in return. It might just give her the sense of purpose she’s lacking.
Félix Can’t Communicate - Komi-san AU - Tag: #Komi Felix AU - The collective brainrot first spawned by @/kronehaze resulted in the creation of this series. Mostly felinette fluff based around Komi-san eps, but I also want to try some different storylines; featuring: Human kwamis as the school’s workers.
Although he has tons of admirers in Kwomi Shouka École, due to his severe social anxiety, Félix struggles to communicate with others and form meaningful connections, so he just stopped bothering. But it seems like the new student was able to stop and listen.
Stray Cats - Runaway Brothers AU - Tag: #Stray Cats - Marinette and Félix are young adults while Adrien is Félix’s baby brother. A strangers to friends to lovers with brotherly love and found family story; it also turned out to have some superhero action with pre-3d concepts for the powers and a Butterfly Mafia from chap 4 onwards idmdkdidmd.
On a rainy night, customers ventured into Marinette’s shop and interrupt her while she was writing her essay—that she was totally going to finish if those stray cats hadn’t stormed in.
Oneshot Series:
Sal’s Felinette Oneshots - All felinette, all AU, might be connected to something or each other; ranging from fluff, to humor, to angst, to hurt/comfort, to mixes of those; from G to T; established relationship, pre-relationship, more gen than romance, etc; around 500 words drabbles to oneshots past the 1k wordcount. Take your pick!
Between Tricks and Treats - Fox!Félix AU - Where I post oneshots that takes place in the Trickster AU. They might have spoilers for Trickster (the first fic), or need context from it, so I suggest reading it before coming here.
Rewritten Stories and Rearranged Songs - Fav & Mads AU - Tag: #Faverolle & Madamouselle - A series where I organize the oneshots I wrote for @/arcadeology’s Rooster!Felix and Mouse!Marinette AU. Featuring a completely (in-universe) rewrite of the magic system, Baby Brie as Marinette’s little sister, and much, much, more you can find in her blog.
In the year 2231, 200 years after the original series, Nou Paris witnesses a resurgence of magical activity when the Bee miraculous is awoken and starts causing chaos- their beautiful, green city slowly turning into one polluted by smog and black magic, as monsters born from the pollution rampages through Nou Paris’ streets.
(Summary snippet taken from the AU’s reference doc).
Other works:
Sal’s SebSab Stuff - There’s not much in here (yet) but God knows I’ll need this series, lol.
(Not) the Same (Old) Em - A post-canon fix-it The Promised Neverland AU with a different take on Amnesiac!Emma and the human world. First two oneshots are about Em’s two years with Alex and the fic Echoes is where the “post-canon fix-it of sorts” really begins.
Goblin Cacophony - AU for Dimension 20’s A Court of Fey and Flowers where I take Brennan’s tidbit about Hob being originally three smaller goblins fused together and go through with it. Because I can and WILL make this crack-y idea work.
My original pieces collection - Though I don’t have much interest in a longer original book, I like to write some original pieces from time to time. It’s also how I most experiment with writing styles.
Dropped in Seastone - WIP/Indefinite hiatus - A felinette fic based on the Seastone AU by @/arcadeology - currently paused as I focus on other projects but I’m still hoping to come back to it.
Abandoned works:
Miraculous: Tales of Creation and Destruction - In case you’ll like to see my first attempt at a full canon rewrite. I’m still fond of it and think the writing holds up well enough; and some of the concepts I used here are things that I’d still like to implement in other fics, if given the chance.
With Great Powers: Another trunked attempt at a complete canon rewrite. It was a cool experiment, but me realize it’s just not the kinda fic I’m interested in writing. Has some cool sequences though, and I still like some of the characterization choices I made here.
Thanks for stopping by my fox den! ✨🦊

HK magic human Pale King series: I was a former Albino Magic king reincarnated as a kid trying to navigate high school, and I'm addicted to Coke
Very much inspired by those super long light novel titles and it pretty much explains itself. And I don't want to put that much effort on making those "deep" and edgy titles. I just put the contents straight on the cover. This is still part of my AU, so it's just INSPIRED by the game. Everyone are human, not bugs, and I did a of of liberties so there will be stuff that does not follow the game cannon, or fannon headcannon.
This is very PK centric and about him trying to navigate his modern high school life while trying to prevent people from knowing that he have the soul, memories and powers of living ancient relic who was the ruler of a fabled magic Kingdom nearly a millennia ago. Yes he have all the unexplained magic Wyrm bullsh*t like teleportation, mind-reading, make soul daggers appear out of nowhere, etc BUT he can never bring back the dead. Edit: PK here in NOT in another world, nor is it a time travel, it is in the same world set more than a thousands years in the future, to the modern future. This is not the Pale King himself, but simply inspired by him as a character, which is not saying much since there is barely any interaction except in flash backs and when we had to hit his actual corpse. More of an OC really.
This will be very tropey, episodic slice-of-life, a bit shounen and just for fun. Nothing to serious and shenanigans happen, both about him keeping his powers a secret, and his past coming back to haunt him.
Mainly inspired by Noragami and nearly all superhero magical girl/boy shows that takes place in high school, even Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura. Though I will also take some inspiration from the Fate Series, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, and Fate/Hollow Attaraxia. The last one is mostly for the Hollow pun.
Hashtag will be - #Shiro Series

Tumblr media
The deep amber brown liquid swirled easily around the tumblr that Dean  held tightly in his grip. His gaze was fixed on large rain drops falling against the window that was behind his desk, blurring the lights of the city that seemed to sit miles below his penthouse office on the 51st floor.
Below him were thousands of people, young and old, going about their daily lives, only worried about their own little bubble of problems. Most of them were unable to even see past the cell phone that seemed to captivate their attention as they moved about amongst each other.
With a disgusted snarl on his lips, Dean lifted the tumbler, and downed it in one pull. The burn of the alcohol has stopped affecting him a long time ago. Now it was the only warmth he felt..
“Those people, they’re ungrateful for what we do son,” John’s voice sounded from somewhere in the back corner of the room.
Dean had known he was standing there watching him. When you have lived many years with people trying to kill you, tend to heighten your senses in a way you couldn’t turn off.
“Get out of my head old man,” Dean’s voice drew out unamused. “I couldn’t give a fuck what they want or don’t want, see or don’t see. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Dean could hear John moving closer to the desk, and the wood creaking attop it, as the smell of cigar that seemed to constantly linger around his father, misted with just a hint of some expensive Italian cologne and whiskey let Dean know he’d perched himself on the corner of the desk.
“If it weren’t for us, half of this city would be in ruin. Their businesses  would be shut down, their schools and churches would be sitting empty, and they wouldn't even have a roof over most of their heads. Still, look at them down there, walking around without a care in the world, and you’re  telling me that doesn’t bother you? Not in the least?”
In truth, it didn’t bother him. He wasn’t mad that most of them were ungrateful, and lived in blissful ignorance.In fact, he envied them. He wished he could walk around in the same happy little bubble they walked and lived in everyday, not knowing what really went on behind closed doors, or the sacrifices other people made at their expense. “It’s just good business,” or so his father always said. Dean was starting to beg to differ.
He hadn’t  known when he’d take over his father’s ‘family business’ it would come with so much pain, and heartache or so much death. Now here he was, The Godfather, as it were, but it wasn’t anything like it was in the movies. No, it was darker, and colder, and lonely as the grave he’d seem to keep lowering his friends into.
He thought he could have it all when he was younger. He thought that he could have it all, ruling the city on his throne of control as the people  moved about like his little pawns in a game of chess only he could master. He was wrong. So very fucking wrong, and now? Well, now he was just left with the ghost of the past.
“It doesn’t bother me,” Dean said with a slight shrug of his broad shoulders. John’s dark chuckle sounded from behind him as he got up and moved closer to the window, putting a hand on the cold glass as he watched the rain slip down the pane, determined to ignore the old demon that seemed to come and visit him after every failed job.
“Sure is a long way down isn’t?” John’s voice said from directly next to him now, as if he was looking down at the city below him just as Dean was now. “You know, it wouldn’t be hard right? The fall? In fact, it would almost be peaceful. Hell, they say by the time you hit the ground from this height your heart’s already stopped anyway, and you're dead before you even hit the ground. It’s as easy as falling asleep.”
Dean’s jaw clenched as he closed his eyes and fought against the thoughts that were clouding his judgement. “Fuck off,” he growled, but John just laughed in earnest, sending a familiar shiver down Dean’s spine.
“Come Dean, what do you really have to live for anyway?” John taunted, walking around him like a lion stalking down his prey, getting ready to land the deadly pounce that would ultimately destroy the poor, worthless beast that was weaker than he.
“She will never love you Dean, you know that right? First time shit goes sideways, she’s gonna do the same as every other bitch you have ever used to get your dick wet. She’s just there for the money you hand her, and you know it.”
John’s hot breath blew against the back of his neck as the next passing words were made in a whisper against his sweat damp skin.
“But, you had to fuck around and get feelings, didn’t you boy?”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Dean roared, but it only seemed to edge on his torturer even more.
“No! Feelings make you weak, make you vulnerable!” John’s voice sounded louder than his own, and Dean flinched as if he’d raised his hand and struck him.
“I shouldn’t be surprised, you always were too weak. You and your feelings were the reason I’m dead today Dean. Sam would have made a better leader. He was smarter, stronger.  You were never even able to protect him.That’s why you let him go off to Stanford, isn’t it Dean, because he’d be safer out of the life.”
Dean’s fist pounded against the glass in a hollow thud, and he gritted his teeth almost painfully, “Sammy deserved better than this. He deserved to get out.”
“Is that what Benny deserved today Dean? Was that round through the heart his way of ‘getting out of the life’.He’s in the ground right now because you sent him on that delivery Dean, he’s dead because of you.”
“I said, fuck off!” Dean growled, but to no avail.
“Do Y/N a favor. Open the drawer where you keep that 45, and end it. A simple shot to the temple and it’s done. She’ll be free of the coward that she’s tided too.”
Dean’s eyes shot to the small drawer at the bottom of his desk, and his pulse quickened.
“That’s it son, do it, end it.” John's voice growled deep in his ear, as one large tear rolled down Dean’s face.
His legs felt weak. His breath was coming in short spurts as a grip tightened around his pounding heart, like a vise in his chest. John’s voice repeated, growing in his ear to “end it, do it now.” the same tone he’d used his whole life to order him around, and Dean had never been able to disobey an order.
Maybe his dad’s ghost was right, and was weak. Maybe you would be better if he just ended it, took the cowards way out of this shit show, and let you move on. He’d make sure to leave you enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life.You’d be better off if he were dead.
Before he could even move from his spot against the window, two hands, much smaller than the ones that felt as if they were gripping his throat, slipped around his chest, and your scent seemed to push through the fog of self hate and regret that was weighing on him from years past.
“Dean, baby breath, it’s okay,” your voice soothed over him, and he turned to lean into your embrace, thankful that you had come in just in time to once again chase the old ghost away.
“I know, it’s just one of those nights,” Dean murmured into your hair, letting the scent of his favorite shampoo that you always used calm his racing pulse.
“It wasn’t your fault baby. I can see you literally blaming yourself. Benny knew the risk of what he was going to do, he knew that it could go the way it went. You couldn’t have stopped it if you wanted to,” you try to sooth him.
Dean’s eyes flickered to the corner of the room, where a pair of glowing yellow eyes shone like cat eyes in a dark alley, and his father’s face disappeared into the darkness. He was never gone forever. He was always there, always lurking, always haunting, taunting him.
“Come on handsome, let’s get some sleep,” you tell him, grabbing his hand, and leading him from the dark, cold office to the master bedroom were you could keep an eye on him, keep him close to you, and help fight off the old ghost of his past that never seemed to want to let go.
Tonight he’d win against them again, but there would always be a battle, always a struggle with demons that had their hooks in him so deep, that one day they’d drive them to his grave. Tonight though, he’d hide in the safety of your arms, and your warm embrace to get up and do it all over again tomorrow. Until one day, by an enemy or by his own hand, he’d be lowered into the ground, and with a hero’s funeral to cover up a black soul that had more blood on his hands than the devil himself.
As long as he had you, and as long as you were here, he could find his resting place here. This was as close to heaven as he’d ever get, and when he’d died, and they covered him in gold, he’d be able to say he had you, for just a little while. For just a little while, he got to see heaven, and it was all because of you. His hiding place. His sanctuary. A place where his ghost couldn’t find him.

Emotional questionnnnn: What if a superhero died (including Batman and Superman cause why not >:))?
Uhmm...I'm going to talk mostly about if they just witnessed the death of the others since I don't think I'm ready to unpack the emotional baggage of killing a friend. ( But if you also about a specific kill with specific details on how it happened you can bet I'll give you a specific answer.)
It's clear in the aftermath of Superman vs Barman that Superman's death would take a toll on the civilians. He's iconic that way, I think it would be especially hard on Kara. And it would be terrible for Gotham morale and Batgirl especially, if Batman dies while being a hero.
It'd be terrible if either hero died. Both are incredibly strong and intelligent. If either died it would mean a villain strong enough and reckless enough to simply murder any adversary.
It would be pretty scary to all if Superman died....after all Cryptonien's are supposed to be indestructible, no?
Kara would take the death pretty hard. In denial, probably. Insisting that there is a way to bring him back.
If one of the Invincibro's (yo bros) died then it'll hit hard.
It'll hit differently depending on the counterpart. And the situation.
For example, if Hal died both sides will mourn. And the Invicibros will be a mess (I suspect that Steve and Hal were co-captains, if anything Steve is a bit of a figurehead). Speaking of 'captain' the school, whoever knew the confident brunet will be in shock because Hal always seemed a little invincible. Many would mourn him since he grows on you....like fungi. Jess will be wrecked and she'd blame herself because of course she would. She was his partner, she should have been there. 'And oh gosh she was alone now, she'd have to defend the space sector alone. And even if she's assigned a new partner it wouldn't matter because they weren't an obnoxious, confident, self-centered Hal'. And yes, there will be a certain dampness in the atmosphere for both teams.
If Barry died both teams (the whole city even) would mourn. Barry was beloved as both Barry the dessert slinger and the Flash, superhero speedster. Barry was kind of the kindness of the group. The one who did good for no other motive than the fact that he loved deeply and wanted to keep everyone safe. The team would keep chugging along with this mindset...but I don't think they'd be able to eat at Sweet Justice anymore. It would hit Babs' hard because he was her best (guy) friend and they swore to have each other's backs (in my AU) and she didn't have his and now he's dead. I think the girls would prefer to just move their headquarters since Sweet Justice was painful enough to just think about.
If Carter died I'm afraid no one will notice. Hawkman's death will be acknowledged but not Carter's. Carter's death if given any attention at school would be a mystery much like he was. Same with Hawkman, his death will be mourned but he'd be considered a mystery death because of his quiet nature. This will drive the boys mad because Carter Hall was DEAD and no one seemed to care. How can they not realize that everything has changed? Carter was more or less the level-headed one of the group. It would be particularly terrible for Karen since Carter was big and strong and knowing he's dead? Yes...she wouldn't take it well. She'd most likely try to avenge him.
If Oliver died it would be a bit of a scandal. I'm sure he has quite the fan base as both an aspiring actor and the charismatic Green Arrow. He was always the *cue dramatic gasp* dramatic one of the bunch. His death will be, you guessed it, terrible. Since happy, confident, loyal Green Arrow was killed. The atmosphere around the team would tune quiet, if a little hollow but they'd keep chugging through since Oliver wasn't friends with quitters. And it would hit Zee differently because the last thing they did was fight (of course they did) and now he's dead and she realized that she had fun arguing with him and their rivalry made acting so much more fun and now how is she supposed to perform when her co-star was dead? When the idiot who would make rude faces behind the curtains and then grudgingly admit she did 'decently' was dead?!? It would hit hard because Oliver and Zee shared a passion and they both left a stain there. She'd forever associate her love for the stage to her complicated friendship with a dead actor. (I think she'd hate when in the future people forget Oliver Queen's name). The whole girl said would mourn but they didn't know Oliver as well as Zee and Zee's a wreck so they'd channel their grief into comforting her.
God help the idiot who murders Steve. If Diana hasn't already killed you, the team will. The Invincibro's, I mean. Steve is a bit of a figurehead so kill the queen and they will make it their life mission to avenge him. That is all after the grieving, of course. Steve will be mourned heavily by both teams, especially by Diana and the Invicibros. Diana will be confused at first because she never even thought that Steve could die. Never crossed her mind. She never asked for anything, wanted for anything, but she wanted him. Him to be alive. How is that even possible??! Jeez, I don't see much of him so that's all I can really say.
If Garth is killed well... Both teams will be horrified and heartbroken. It's just that Garth is so innocent and sweet. And he was killed. The whole school I think would notice because the football team will mourn (in my AU) him. The city might be a bit indifferent because despite his confidence he never demanded as much attention as his team. But the team will never be indifferent to it. The Invincibro's will be furious to hide the fact that they are wrecked because yes, Garth can handle himself in a fight but he was only fourteen. He had plans and he was their friend, goddamit. (I really want to go in depth about how the girls and guys would react but I'll resist.) Kara will react similarly because how dare they take her little brother away?? One thing is letting him handle himself when he's getting bullied but killing him?
Okay...this is a quick peek at how the team and counterpart will react to their death....now for the girls!!
(they are all killed, okay? No different or accidental deaths)
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
If Jess were killed the team would be a wreck, of course. Jess, I like to think, was the mom friend and medic of the group. The girls will mourn and healing will be hard. Very hard. They'll remember all the things she holds dear. I have no doubt they'll participate in protests like Jess has been bugging them to do when she was alive. The Invincibro's will be sad too, of course. Initially, then they'll be pissed. Won't rest untill they help the SHG defeat the killer. And Hal? He'll be feral, of course he would. He is very possessive and very loyal. He'd be in denial at first (they all would) because how can Jessica Fricking Cruz, passionate kind selfless Jess be dead?? That's not possible. She cared too much, had too much to do- she can't be dead. But I feel like halfway through his revenge rampant he'll remember that Jess was a pacifist and he'll...I dunno.
If Babs died the team will be swinging from horrified, to unbelieving, to furious. They'd be sad because Babs loved being a superhero and she loved helping people and now she was dead and- they'd be a mess. And don't even get me started on how Barry would take it. Wanna know how he'd take it? Very badly. Why? Because Babs is his best friend and his counterpart and he's supposed to watch her back and she's gone for real and this is terrible and he's so sensitive and everything is fallings apart it seems. He'll definitely be a little more jaded, a lot more protective and burst into tears when anyone orders a candy cake triple ripple tower with rainbow sprinkles. But then overtime it'll turn into a sad smile. Man, the Invincibro's will also be horrified since Babs was close to pretty much everyone.
If Karen died? Absolute pandemonium. The team will be equal parts blaming themselves and torn with guilt and sorrow. They will tear the world apart looking for a way to fix it somehow. Fix it the way Karen would have. The boy team, because despite all their teasing, will be in uproar because no one messed with Karen but them!! And Carter? He'll be at war with himself, because he should have protected her, the pipsqueak was too young and small and fragile to be able to hold off evil by herself and how dare she put herself in that situation? How dare she just leave them like that?? I feel like he'll be in denial for a long time, working through everything to avoid processing his grief but when it does it'll hit hard. Probably because of something small but subtle. Like getting electrocuted because Karen had quite a few fractal scars from her experimenting and super heroing. Or when he realizes he got stung by a bee- it's the little moments when it strikes deep.
If Zee died it would be a bit absolutely scandalous of course. Not only will the girls be horrified and heartbroken but so will Zee's fanbase as an actor and her father's assistant. The girls will have quite some time to even begin to adjust but soon enough they will jump straight into plotting their revenge. The boys will be livid of course but none more that her counterpart Oliver Queen. Oliver won't quite believe it, I don't think, he'll just think that Zee will just magically resurrect herself because the annoying actress who liked hogging his showtime couldn't possibly be dead. She was like a cockroach! No matter how many times squashed beneath your shoe those wretched little things will just come back. All the time...she couldn't be gone. And truly he didn't hate her, he just liked having a goal. To outshine Zee Zatara. So...how could she be dead? This will hit especially hard when he doesn't have a counterpart to fight with. Or when the leading lady role goes to someone new. Clear to say that Zee Zatara's death will be every bit heart wrenching.
If Diana dies be prepared for hell. The girls will fall apart with grief after avenging their leader. I feel that Babs would try to keep everyone together at least. The boy team will be furious because Diana was their battle plan leader too! And how- they'd be confused because how can the immortal Diana Prince die? The school would definitely have a service for the mystery top student. How would Steve react? He'd be horrified and lost, and confused but then he'd help the girls avenge W.W and live the rest of his life upholding Diana's values. (I'm not quite sure how he'd handle the grief.)
If Kara dies then there will of course first be the mourning (at least according to the show). Then the shock. Then the doubt because hasn't Kara 'died' before? And that would lead to hope which will make the moment of confirmation the most painful. For both teams. Garth will be completely blindsided with grief and anger because how dare they take his big sister? How dare they hurt moody, cold, rude at times, big softie at heart, Kara? And well I guess we'll discover that rage is also a prominent feature if the ocean, is it not? So yes, this will be an emotional rollercoaster no doubt about it.
✨✨✨EXTRA EXTRA✨✨✨
This extra will be non-super hero's who will also mourn and attempt to avenge the lost one.
Diana- she is the princess of an island of immortal warrior woman. Her mom is 'a final boss'. She will have plenty of people to avenger her (not that she would want that, per say). I kind of have a suspicion that Queen of Amazon's will either be overly sympathetic ('my daughter has chosen her path, now we can only honor her') or furiously because they were part of her daughters dream that got Diana killed (may you pray we never cross paths again or I will curse you as you have cursed me).
Karen- not sure... but maybe her parents??? They can make a suit too??
Kara- Her cousin because family is family and that's period and she's like the only survivor who doesn't want him (genuinely) dead. And Alex, her step-sister- maybe.
Jess- Green Lantern Corp.? Dexstarr?
Zee- her DAD, remember they are super close and he's super powerful and yeah....
Babs- Her dad- who's like a cop and even though he shown to be extremely lazy I have no doubt that he'd drop the donuts to find out what happened to his precious pumpkin pants. Might even call I'm Batman. Harleen, yes Harleen who tried to murder Robin because he embarrassed Babs will definitely go after her best friends murderer (even after finding out Vans secret identity)
Okay for Steve and Carter I genuinely don't know.
Garth, I'm not sure but if he's actually underwater royalty than you can expect a whole lot of flooding, earthquakes and sea monsters.
Hal- starfire is coming for your but
Oliver- Mortimer Drake, maybe? They are sort of bro's
Barry- DA WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD
Well...this was fun, wasn't it? Thanks for the beautiful ask, as usual @thedevilsmusicbox and I look forward to hearing from you. 😁🙋

The Hollow - SuperHero School AU Power Discovery Backstories
SuperHero school au explanation post
Reeve:
- Reeve’s parents died when he was 3 on a Super-Hero mission.
- Once his grandmother took him in, she tried everything to get Reeve to discover his powers. She did this in grief, hoping that Reeve would have his parents powers and the that she’d be able to hold on to a small part of them.
- Because of this, Reeve’s incredibly complicated power was discovered incredibly early.
- At first, Reeve felt pressure, believing he had to live up to all the tremendous stories his grandmother told him about his parents.
- Eventually, his grandmother reassured him that he didn’t have to live up to those expectations. Reeve gladly decided not to care, growing into his own person outside of his powers.
Mira:
- Mira was adopted when she was 5. When her fathers discovered she had powers, It was assumed by them and by the school district that it was genetics.
- This was proven to be false when Mira decided to go back to a lake she’s had fuzzy memories of when she was a child.
- Mira discovers she was in fact slashed by an eerie unidentified creature, one that had somehow found its way out of the ocean and into the lake.
- For some reason, she cannot talk to this creature, but memories flood back and she remembers falling into that exact lake when she was 4, safely returning back to shore with only a small injury and two new powers.
Adam:
- Both of Adam’s parents were Normie’s, so it was a surprise when their son suddenly came home with the strength of a body builder and the agility of a gymnast.
- Turns out, the martial arts/self defense dojo they sent their son to (to stop the bullying) had an instructor who’d been impressed with Adam’s determination and drive.
- The old instructor was a retired Super-Hero. He no longer had a need for his power, a power that’d been passed down for generations. So, he decided to become a self-defense instructor in search of an inheritor.
- Adam was found worthy and was bestowed the power (unknowingly). Adam was given a note by the instructor, explaining everything, but when Adam went to confront him, the instructor was no longer at the dojo.
Vanessa:
- Vanessa’s parents divorced when she was 6. Her mother had floatation powers and her father was a Normie. Vanessa mostly lived with her mother, increasing the desire to have powers instead of being boring and normal like her father.
- One day, on vacation with her parents, she stood a bit too close to the ledge of a bridge. Vanessa bends down to tie her shoes, only to trip and fall off. Both of her parents are too busy arguing to notice her descent.
- That is until she flies. The crowd of tourists clap for her, bringing over her parents attention.
Skeet:
- As a kid, Skeet was a wanderer, constantly giving his single father heart attacks. One day, his father (a nurse) brings Skeet to the hospital to visit, and as always, Skeet wanders.
- Skeet stumbles upon an empty hospital room with a comatose patient. This super-powered patient has specific chemicals being pumped into them due to their super-power requirements.
- Skeet sees the plastic bag of chemicals dripping onto the floor, and being a curious 6 year old, dips his finger in the chemical puddle and licks it.
- His speed powers come in a year later with no explanation. Skeets father rushes him to the hospital and they explain that Skeet swallowed a substance that had a 90% chance of killing him. As shown, Skeet had luckily survived.
Kai:
- Both of Kai’s parents come from a long lineage of super-powered individuals that double in powers. Due to this, his parents have a sense of self-superiority.
- As time passes, Kai feels an immeasurable amount of pressure to have super-powers, especially when he showed no signs of them at the age of 6.
- His parents sent him to every doctor they knew. All they could say was that Kai was a late bloomer (since his parents left no room for discussion of their son possibly being a Normie).
- When he was 13 years old and still showed no sign of powers, his parents gave up on him and abandoned him in Davis’s care. They only visited every few months, enrolling him into The Hollow high-school for super-powered individuals, as a last ditch effort.
- Eventually, at the school, Kai’s powers are discovered. Yet they are still not up to his parents standards, since he only has one power, and its unknown how he received them.

Not a bad thing
AO3 link
Word count: 3579
Summary: May Parker is dating Tony Stark's bodyguard. It would be awesome if Peter didn't have a secret identity to keep. Alternative meeting fic, where May Parker dates Happy Hogan before either of them know Spider-Man identity.
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Blood, stabbing (nothing too graphic), mild language
A/N:
Originaly posted on AO3 on 31.05.2021. I decided to start a tumblr and repost what I've already written.
This is an AU, where accords did happen, but Avengers talked things out (like adults) and CA:CW didn't happen. Tony have never looked for Spider-Man's real identity, so Peter have never met him or Happy.
May has been behaving weird for about three weeks, Peter thought. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Her coming home later than usual made keeping his extracurricular activities a secret way easier, since he didn’t have to make up excuses. Besides, she started smiling again and her eyes shone, which was a nice change compared to the hollowness that followed the months after Ben's passing. So, yeah, weird, but good. Peter certainly wasn’t going to call her out on anything, especially that he also kept some secrets and may have snuck out during the night a couple times or came back home later, with some unexplained bruises. Since the conversation about May would somehow circle back to him and he wasn’t really ready to let go of that secret, he left that alone and enjoyed her happiness, even though he didn’t know its source. He shared his thoughts with Ned and MJ during lunch.
“She’s dating. She’s totally dating,” Ned declared.
“Wha… I… What? No! Ben was like a year ago!”
“Yeah Peter, but there are no rules to how long people are supposed to grieve. Maybe she met someone who helps her,” MJ flatly said, with her eyes glued to a book.
“I know, I know, it’s just weird, y’know? I mean she’s happy so that’s good, but still…”
“Look, maybe it is something else. I’m sure she will tell you eventually. And if she’s dating you can tell her that you are uncomfortable, she’ll understand.”
“Maybe she’s also a vigilante and you are both hiding your secret identities from each other and there will be a big battle and one of you will get hurt and there will be dramatic reveal, sad conversations and happy ever after, of course.” Ned sped through his theory on one breath. MJ looked up her book and lifted her eyebrows, while Peter facepalmed.
~~~
As it turned out, May was dating. Technically, the secret superhero theory was neither confirmed nor denied, but since it seemed highly improbable, it was discarded. One day Peter came home straight from school, deciding to skip early patrol in order to study for chemistry. May was home and apparently waiting for him.
“Hi honey, it’s great you are early.” She hugged him tight.
“Hi May, something happened?”
“I was just leaving, but I want to tell you something,” she started. “Sit down, sweetie.”
“Uhh, you are worrying me”
“Everything is okay, actually is better than okay,” she beamed. “I… err… I think you noticed how I’ve been coming home later lately.”
“Umm, yeah?”
“I know that it may be worrying, but I’m fine, I’m just…” She drew a big breath. “I’m seeing someone. As in dating,” she dropped. Peter opened his mouth, but May gestured at him and continued. “I know that it’s soon after Ben, I know that you can feel like I’m replacing him, but the guy I met? He’s great. We met at that coffee shop near the hospital, you know which one, they have your favorite hot chocolate, we started talking, he helped me and it began more serious lately.”
“May, but that’s great!” In reality, Peter wasn’t feeling exactly great about that, but he didn’t know the guy yet and his Aunt was really nervous and excited, so he decided to draw some enthusiasm.
“You really think so?”
“Yeah, you know I haven’t met him yet, but I noticed that you are happier, so I’m good”
“About meeting him. I was thinking, of course you don’t have to agree, that maybe he could come to dinner Friday, next week?”
“Uhh, sure, why not?” Peter blinked, taken aback by May’s words. She really was serious about this guy if she wanted to meet him.
“If you don’t want to do this, tell me. I mean it. I don’t want to make you unhappy”
“No, May, it’s okay, really, if you are happy, that makes me happy as well,” Peter quickly replied. May eyed him carefully, then stood up.
“That’s great, honey. I, umm, I actually have a date with him tonight and I have to go. There's dinner in the fridge, but you can order the take out. Is that okay?”
“Yes, May, of course,” Peter said, emphasizing the first part. “Go, have fun!”
“Call me if you need anything, okay?” She shot him a stern glance. “Bye!” May pressed a kiss to his forehead and Peter yelped in surprise and scrunched his face.
“Ew, gross, just go. Bye!”
~~~
Despite what he told his Aunt, Peter didn’t like the idea of meeting a mysterious boyfriend. He wasn't exactly opposed to that, but everything just seemed rushed. He was brooding during lunch everyday, to the point when MJ stopped rolling her eyes at him and started ignoring him by putting earbuds in her ears every time he changed the subject to this.
“Dude, just chill out, meet him, and if the guy gives you weird vibes just tell May that he’s a creep, she will dump him in five seconds.” That was Ned’s advice when the fatal Friday came. “And if he’s not a creep, give him a chance,” he said between bites.
~~~
They were going to meet at their favorite Thai restaurant. May spent the short walk from their apartment reassuring him.
“Just give him a chance, ok? But if anything doesn’t feel alright, or you dislike him just tell me. I don’t want to pressure you. It’s fine and you are more important to me.”
“I know May. I will tell you if I don’t like him.”
Finally they reached the restaurant and they entered. There was a vaguely familiar man with broad shoulders and dressed in a suit. Peter knew his face but couldn’t place it anywhere. Man reached them and greeted May, kissing her on her cheek.
“And that’s your nephew, Peter?” Man asked, looking at him.
“Yes, Peter, this is Harold Hogan,” May introduced them, her smile so wide that it reached her ears.
“N-nice to meet you, Mr. Hogan, sir,” Peter stuttered
“Nice to meet you too, kid. And drop the sir, call me Happy”
“O-okay, sir, Happy, I’m sorry,” he berated himself quickly.
Happy eyed him suspiciously and didn’t say anything.
“Right!” May clapped her hands, interrupting awkward silence. “Let’s go to the table.”
Wow, Parker, great first impression. Real smooth, Peter though. But before he could dwell on that, he was seated at the table next to May, Happy across from them and the waiter brought them menus. Peter didn’t need one, he always ordered pad thai, but Happy and May were reading theirs. Meanwhile, Peter tried to place the man's face, but with no avail, so he asked him, “Umm, excuse me si.. Happy, your face is kinda familiar, but I can’t place it.”
“Oh, I didn’t tell you, honey, Harold is Tony Stark’s head of security, you surely saw him at one of his press conferences,” May chimed in. That sounded about right, when Tony Stark or Pepper Potts were speaking, there was always someone in the background. That news made Peter’s heart hammer in his chest. Knowing someone from Tony Stark’s inner circle, as awesome as it sounded, was a danger to his secret. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to meet the Avengers, he just wanted more to keep his identity hidden.
“Oh, okay.”
“You know, Peter was always a big fan.”
“Yeah.” He felt the heat come to his cheeks. If the ground could open and swallow him whole, that would be preferable than sitting here. Fortunately the waiter that came to them saved him from further embarrassment. They placed their order and May went to the toilet, leaving him alone and anxious.
“Soo, Peter…” Happy started and that did sound ominous. It didn’t help that he squinted his eyes at him. “What do you like to do?”
“Oh, umm, I like chemistry and physics at school. A-and I do Academic Decathlon at school.”
“That’s actually impressive, kid.” Happy smiled at him. Happy complimented him. That serious looking, stone faced man smiled and complimented him. Maybe it wasn’t going so bad.
“Uhh, thank you.”
“You like doing something else?”
“Dumpster diving? And I’m in the robotics club at school as well,” Peter squeaked. This looked too much like an interrogation. Maybe the whole thing was a plot to make him confess that he is Spider-Man. “I hate the gym, if you wanna know. I have asthma.”
“You are a proper nerd, I see,” Happy chuckled. “I can’t relate though, before I became a bodyguard I’d been a boxer.”
“Wow, seriously? That’s kind of cool.”
May chose this moment to come back.
“Oh, I see, you are getting along, that’s great!” She said while sitting down. “What did you talk about while I was gone?”
“Happy asked me about school and stuff.”
After that conversation started flowing more easily. Peter still stuttered his way out, when he was asked a question directly and Happy was shooting him wary looks, but he also smiled at them and some of his stories, especially the ones about the Avengers were hilarious.
~~~
Peter and May spent Saturday snuggled under the blankets on the couch, watching TV, and eating a lot of pizza and popcorn.
“So, what do you think about Harold?” May prompted
“Uhh, he seems like an okay kind of guy… I mean he’s intimidating, but I guess that comes with the job.”
“You don’t sound so sure, Peter,” she stated
“Y’know, I met him only once and he was scary at first, but then it was better, he was actually funny and he really cares about you, May.”
“So, are you up to meeting him again?”
“Yeah, sure”
May smiled at him, hugged him and kissed him on the forehead.
“May!” He squirmed. “Stop!”
~~~
Ned was going to burst.
“Your aunt is dating a guy, who knows THE Tony Stark?! You have to ask him if you can meet him! Peter, this is the opportunity of a lifetime!”
“I am not going to ask a guy, who I met only once to arrange a meeting with Tony Stark, Ned!”
“And what about, you-know-who?”
“Voldemort? Don’t want to meet him.”
“No, I mean, the other you…” Ned was whispering in the most suspicious way possible
“That’s what I’m mostly worried about right now.”
“But he could help, Tony Stark could help!”
“No, Ned, they can’t know! They’re gonna take one look at me and see a scrawny kid and forbid everything. And May’ll freak.”
“Whatever you say, man.”
~~~
Next meeting with Happy went more smoothly. Then they started meeting more regularly and Peter didn’t even notice when he started feeling comfortable around the man. His fear about accidental identity reveal diminished.
One day they met without May and Happy took him to the gym.
“I thought that I could teach you some self-defense, you come back home with bruises too much to May’s or my liking.” At the sight of Peter’s wide eyes he added, “I’m not going to ask you who’s beating you up if you don’t want to tell me, I'll just teach you to defend yourself. I won’t hurt you.”
“Thank you. You know, I thought that you train at the Tower or the Compound”
“I do, sometimes, but the atmosphere there is too high strung for me. And most of my friends from my boxer year train here.” Happy was surprised how fast Peter learned.
“Kid, how come you have a C in a gym class? You are better than this.” Peter actually had to pretend that he was in much worse shape than he really was, but on the other hand he kind of wanted to impress Happy, so he wasn’t doing as badly as at school. Still, he found that lessons useful. During fights with criminals he relied on webbing from the distance and spidey senses, but when that failed Happy’s advice on hand-to-hand technique was valuable.
So Happy was really okay. He was gruff, he shot him weird looks, and frowned at him, and definitely didn’t do hugs, but on the other hand he was quietly concerned about his well being. He took him out for ice cream, regaled him with embarrassing stories about Avengers, and asked about his grades. Even so, he didn’t try to fill Ben’s shoes.
~~~
Six months have passed, summer break has begun, and Happy became a constant. He started staying the night and Peter quickly learned the signs at which he should go patrolling for an hour or so. That day started well. Last night’s patrol was mostly uneventful, so he wrapped it up around 1 AM. He went back home, where May was soundly asleep, showered, and went to bed. He slept in, and got out of bed at noon. May was already gone, she left him a note, asking to pick up some groceries. He went to hang out with Ned and on the way back did a requested chore. May came back home, Happy an hour later. They ate together, watched a movie, and went to beds. That’s when things between May and Happy started getting bit… hot. They tried to be quiet, but with Peter’s super hearing that didn’t matter. So Peter dressed in a suit and went out. Patrol was going great. He rescued a cat from a tree, webbed couple muggers, and was about to come back home, when he spotted 5 men dressed in ski masks breaking into a corner shop, a block away from his apartment.
“Hey, are you aware that this is illegal? You should really stop!” Peter called them out, dropping behind them and webbing one of them to the wall. The robbers weren’t talkative and didn’t respond to him, instead they drew knives and guns. “Okay, you’re not in the mood for talking, but can you put the weapons down? It’s really dangerous,” Peter teased them, while covering two guys holding the guns with his webs. He turned to the right when two other robbers were aiming knives at him and shot webs at them. One webshooter released webs and restrained the criminal, but nothing came out of the other. Peter looked at his wrist.
“Shit!” He hit faulty mechanism with his other hand, while he felt sharp pain. He instinctively clutched at his side and saw white. When his vision came back to normal, he realized that he was kneeling, holding his hands to the injury. He carefully pried his fingers off his abdomen and looked down. The wound was really deep and seeping a lot of blood. The sight of it made him want to throw up, but he swallowed the nausea and looked around a scene. Four robbers were immobilized, the one that stabbed him missing, escaped. Right now he was bleeding out and already feeling light-headed. He put a hand on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding, and nearly passed out from pain. Breathing through his teeth he got up and set off in direction of his home, already planning on how to discreetly get to the bathroom and stitch this up. He reached his apartment building and crawled up to his bedroom window, hoping that he didn’t leave too obvious bloodstains on the wall. He ungracefully went through the window and fell with a loud thud. This jostled his injury and Peter let out a muffled cry. He panted on the floor for a second, than he heard movement in May’s bedroom and his Aunt calling him, “Peter, honey, everything alright?”
“Yeah, May, sure,” he said out of breath
“Kid? You don’t sound okay.” Happy also got interested in weird sounds coming from his room.
“Ev’thin’ ‘s ‘right, Hap,” he slurred
“We’re coming in Pete!” Crap, he was still in his suit. He discarded his mask and tried to lift himself up on his elbows, but fell again, just as May and Happy opened the door to his room.
“Peter, what..?!”
“He’s bleeding out, fuck!”
Suddenly there were a lot of hands on him and a lot of yelling, but he didn’t register that anymore. Last thing he saw was May with a broken expression on her face, crying and begging him to stay awake.
Darkness engulfed him.
~~~
Peter was floating. He was warm. There was a softness surrounding him. Like cotton candy. He really wanted cotton candy. There was also beeping and voices that reminded him of safety. And he had hands that were surrounded by something else than cotton candy. That was wrong, he wanted cotton candy. He tried to move his hands, but they weighed too much. He whimpered.
“Peter, sweetheart, can you hear us?”
“Open your eyes kid, please”
Oh, eyes. He had them as well, right. He tried to lift his eyelids, but it was hard. Eventually he managed to do that and saw May.
“May.”
“I’m here honey, it’s ok.”
“Wan’ cotton candy.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll get you a cotton candy, kid.”
“Mmm, Happy.”
“Yeah?”
Peter wanted to tell him something, but he closed his eyes and the darkness swallowed him again.
~~~
Next time Peter woke up there was only May in the room.
“May,” he weakly called her.
“Hi, sweetheart.”
“Where am I?”
“Avengers Tower med bay.”
“Wha’? How?”
“Harold called Tony Stark. You couldn’t go to a normal hospital.”
“Mmm…”
“We’ll be talking about this when you feel better, okay?”
“’kay, May.”
~~~
“So you’re the kid that made my Forehead of security panic for a last few days?” There was actual, real Tony Stark in his hospital room. Which shouldn’t be surprising, because the whole building belonged to him. But still.
Tony Stark.
“Uhh, sorry sir?”
“So, a spider-boy? Spiderling?”
“Spider-Man.”
“Your aunt is currently so pissed that you will be grounded-man for the foreseeable future.”
“I didn’t do anything bad!” Mr. Stark sent him an unimpressed look.
“Sure, kiddo. What I’m interested about is why do you do this, what makes you go out there?”
“Well, umm, if you can do things like I do, but you don’t do them, when something bad happens it’s because of you.”
“Uhuh? And the web fluid? Tensile strength is off the charts. How did you get it?”
“I… made it?”
“Well, you certainly are clever. Let’s meet sometime in my lab. Of course after your aunt ungrounds you.” With that he stood up.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Parker.” And then he left.
“Uhh, you too?” Peter said, gaping and not quite believing that this was just a drug induced dream.
~~~
Mr. Stark was right. May was very, very pissed.
“Peter, do you understand what happened? You were dressed in that ridiculous costume, stabbed and bleeding out! And we can’t call an ambulance, because a normal hospital won’t help an enhanced person!”
“May, listen…”
“No! You listen!”
“But…”
“How could you do this to me! Especially after Ben! Do you even understand…”
“With the great power comes the great responsibility!” Peter interrupted and continued in sobs, “He said that. And I couldn’t… I had these powers, but I didn’t… I… It’s my fault… I will do this for him!” He shouted. Something flickered and softened in his aunt's face.
“Okay,” she said defeated. “It’s okay, sweetheart. I won’t yell at you anymore. It’s alright, it’s alright.” She grabbed him, pulled him into a hug and started rocking them lightly.
“Everything is gonna be okay, hon.”
~~~
After a couple of days Peter was cleared by Dr. Cho and Bruce Banner, (he still couldn’t believe that he met some of his favorite scientists), to leave med bay. Happy brought him to the elevator that went up to the penthouse. They entered a large living room, but Peter didn’t have time to marvel at the view or very elegant and certainly expensive décor, because Happy steered him straight to the couch, where his Aunt and Mr. Stark sat with stern expressions. Peter looked at the adults around him with uneasiness.
“Peter-” his Aunt May began, “-I don’t approve that you’ve been sneaking out to fight criminals for about a year.”
She made a stopping gesture at the sight of Peter’s opening mouth.
“But, I see that you have a fairly good reason for that, so after a lot of consultations and thinking, I decided that I am going to allow this.
“However, there are going to be some rules,” she quickly added. “Also you are grounded for the rest of summer break.”
“What, May, you can’t! Ned and I…”
“I am your legal guardian, that means that I can and I will.”
Peter was only allowed to patrol in a special suit that he was going to make with Mr. Stark. Until the suit was finished and tested in the Tower’s gym he was forbidden from going out as Spider-Man. May also took his phone and computer for a week and gave him a long list of tasks to complete that took almost all of the time (“But May, we never clean the top of kitchen cupboards!” “Yeah? Maybe it’s time to start. Use your powers to do something useful at home!”). After that he started spending most of his time at the Tower training or working on a suit (“This isn’t a reward, Peter. We just don’t trust you to leave you alone and unsupervised without anything to do.”). He even got permission to invite Ned to the Tower.
This isn’t bad, he thought as he entered Mr. Stark’s workshop for the first time. This is actually better than great.
A/N: So there's other loosely connected fic in this series on my AO3 that I'm going to repost on tumblr tommorow and a direct sequel that's mostly written and I'll publish soon.

AU: Biological Dad
Tumblr media
(Warnings: blood)
The school halls were empty and quiet, echoing Tony’s footsteps back to him. The principal hadn’t been very clear about why he’d wanted Tony to come to an after school meeting, but Tony figured it was about the same thing he’d noticed himself: Peter had been... weird lately. Quiet, forgetful, twitchy. Tony was worried, and the fact that his son was acting so strangely the school felt the need to call him in for a meeting made his fears skyrocket.
He opened the door to the front office, closing it quietly behind him before looking up. Peter was there, along with another older boy.
“Hey, kid,” Tony said, stepping closer. “What—”
His voice died. His heart beat so hard in his throat he couldn’t speak around it.
The other kid, a mere teenager, with messy blond hair and pale blue eyes and baby fat still on his cheeks, was holding a gun to his son’s head.
“What?” Tony breathed. “Pete—”
His hand went instinctively to his wrist, ready to summon a suit, to sound the alarm, anything.
The gun knocked against Peter’s temple as the kid adjusted his aim.
“Uh-uh,” he said. “Hands up.”
Peter was looking at him, dark eyes fixed like he was waiting for Tony to save him. His little boy. He was only fourteen.
“Ok,” Tony said, holding his hands above his head. “Ok.”
“Dad—” Peter started.
“Shut up,” the kid snapped. “Or I shoot him instead.”
“It’s ok, Pete,” Tony soothed. “We’ll just do what he says and we’ll both be fine, ok?”
“Think so?” The boy muttered darkly and Tony’s heart skipped a beat. The kid walked forward, snatching at Tony’s wrist, the one with his watch on it. The gun was still pointed at Peter. Tony tried to size him up, make a plan, something, but he couldn’t seem to take his eyes off his son’s pale face.
The watch clicked off and the kid tossed it in a corner, where it fell behind a filing cabinet.
“Alright, see, no cavalry coming, it’s just us here,” Tony soothed. “Why don’t we talk this out?”
The kid snarled, looking back at Peter. “Does he ever shut up?”
Peter’s lips pursed. “Adam,” he said, his voice shockingly steady. “He’s cooperating, you don’t need to hurt him.”
Tony bit back his instinctual disputation, his almost innate need to say that he didn’t care what happened to him, shoot him, just leave his son alone.
“Oh, I won’t,” Adam said. Tony’s stomach didn’t even have time to drop in terror before a shot rang out.
Peter fell back, hitting one of the wooden chairs against the wall.
“Peter!” Tony screamed, already stepping forward, desperate to get to his kid. Blood was staining the front of Peter’s shirt, his breathing was loud and ragged. He’d barely even made a noise of pain, and Tony had a feeling he hadn’t really registered that he’d been shot yet.
Adam turned the gun toward Tony.
“No,” Peter gasped, trying to right himself.
“Shut up, Stark,” Adam barked, and Tony wasn’t really sure which one of them he was talking to.
“Adam,” he tried.
“Shut up!” Adam rounded on him. “Sit, there, by the radiator.”
Tony looked back at Peter. “Just let me put pressure on it, please. You might have hit his liver, he could bleed out.”
To his surprise, Adam smiled, a sarcastic little twist of his lips. “You think so?”
“What? Adam, please, that’s my kid, if I could just—"
“You want me to shoot you too?” Adam yelled, brandishing the gun.
As much as Tony wanted to argue, to take his chance and lunge at Adam, to make him pay for shooting his kid and stopping Tony from helping him, he had to stay calm. Getting himself shot wouldn’t do Peter any good.
He took a shaky breath, then held up his hands and sat on the floor, his back against the radiator. Adam came over with a pair of handcuffs and twisted Tony’s arms over his head, cuffing them behind him in a position that made his shoulders scream in protest.
Peter coughed and Tony’s attention swiveled back to him. They made eye contact and Peter smiled, forced and hollow. There was blood on his lips.
“I’m ok, Dad. It doesn’t even hurt.”
Tony’s heart broke. He strained against the handcuffs, aching to pull Peter towards him, to tend to his wound, to shield him with his own body from the madman holding them hostage.
His voice shook as he spoke, the words thick with fear. “That’s the adrenaline, baby.”
Adam looked between them. “He really has no idea, does he?”
“Adam, come on, this is about me,” Peter said. His voice crackled and caught on the blood in his throat. Maybe the bullet hadn’t hit his liver, maybe it had hit his lung. His kid might be drowning in his own blood right now and for some reason, he was worried about Tony. “Let him go.”
“Not yet,” Adam hissed, pacing away again to peer out the window, probably looking for cop cars. Tony spared half a thought to where the principal was, where the secretaries were. He craned his neck and was able to peer through a crack in the door to the Morita’s office, saw a limp hand. Praying he was just unconscious, Tony turned away.
Tony swallowed, made eye contact with Peter. He was pale, sweat beading on his forehead.
Tony had to do something.
I love you, he thought, looking at Peter with as much affection on his face as he could muster. Peter’s mouth twitched, like he got the message. Tony smiled back, then mouthed, as clearly as possible, RUN. Peter’s eyes went wide, but Tony was already turning away.
“So, Adam, what’s the next step here, kid?”
Adam whirled on him, gun taking quivering aim at Tony’s head.
“I mean, you’ve done really well so far, and I mean that. Not many people can get a hold of Iron Man, but you did it, you’ve got me. I’m not moving. So what’s the objective, man, what’s the goal? I don’t think I’m here just to look pretty.”
Tony honestly wasn’t sure what was coming out of his mouth at the moment, he was just putting his entire focus into not looking at Peter, who was slowly standing from the floor.
Adam glared at him for a moment, hesitating. Then he finally sighed. “You weren’t supposed to be here at all.”
Tony’s brain froze. Peter, in his peripheral, flinched.
“Come again? You’re holding a billionaire superhero hostage on... accident?” Tony asked, blinking.
“I didn’t realize Morita had already called you,” Adam confessed, fiddling with the strings on his hoodie with the hand that wasn’t holding the gun. It was such a childish gesture, one Tony had seen his own son do dozens of times when he was stressed.
“You... you just wanted my kid?” Tony’s voice was low, terrified. He couldn’t think. He couldn’t breathe.
In the corner, Peter was trying to creep into the nurse’s office, presumably to slip out the window. The hand he had pressed over the bullet hole was covered in blood.
“I wanted Spider-Man,” Adam sneered, a small smile curving up the side of his mouth. He glanced over his shoulder to where Peter had been a moment ago, and then let out a snarling yell as he realized Peter wasn’t there.
“No!” Tony gasped.
Adam spun, spotted Peter, and fired.
Peter did scream this time, collapsing to the ground. Tony jerked against his handcuffs, tearing the skin at his wrists and barely registering it as blood soaked into his sleeves.
“Oh, my gosh,” Tony panted, his eyes full of tears. “Oh, my gosh. It’s ok, baby. It’s ok, it’s ok—”
“Dad,” Peter moaned, clutching his thigh, blood pouring over his hands and staining the carpet below him. “Da-dad.”
“I know, love, I’m coming, ok? I’m coming, baby, just—” He turned to Adam, tears dripping off his chin. “Please, he could die. Please, please, just let me—”
“No, Dad, it’s ok, I’m ok—”
Tony twisted, jerking at his cuffs, trying to break free, trying to find an angle where he could dislocate his thumb and slip out of them, anything, anything to save his kid.
“Stop moving!” Adam roared over both of them. “Or the next one goes in his head!”
Tony stopped, his chest heaving.
He sucked in a breath, grasped at all his scattered wits, his utterly shattered calm.
“Please, just let him go. I can get you money, a new life, anything you want,” Tony begged.
Adam stalked forward, gesturing at Tony emphatically with the gun. “I want you,” he hissed, “to shut up.”
Tony swallowed, looking over to where Peter was trying to sit up against a filing cabinet.
“Ok,” Tony panted. “Ok.”
Adam nodded, his own breathing a little fast. His eyes kept cutting toward the window.
“Now, we’re all going to sit here and be quiet and wait for my boss to come pick up the little insect.”
Peter’s eyes darted up to Adam in alarm. Then he glanced sideways to Tony, his expression unreadable.
Tony had no idea what was going on. His normal intelligence seemed to have flown out the window with Peter’s safety, and now he was scrambling to connect the dots.
Adam had said he wanted Spider-Man.
He hadn’t wanted Tony there.
A cell phone ringing made all three of them jump.
Adam fished his phone out of his pocket, glaring at each of them in turn before wandering a few feet away, listening intently.
“Peter, baby, how’re you doing?” Tony asked quietly.
“Shh,” Peter said, his eyes closed. “I’m trying to listen.”
Tony blinked. He strained his own ears but couldn’t even hear the voice on the other end let alone make out what it was saying.
Peter apparently could though. He swore quietly. Tony looked between the two teenagers, his heart beat ratcheting up again when Peter started to move.
“Kid, don’t—”
Peter put his palm on the wall and levered himself up. The way his face crumpled in agony made pain shoot through Tony like a knife. Once Peter was standing, he put both hands against the wall like he was bracing himself, only standing on his good leg.
And then he lifted himself off the ground. Tony’s heart stopped. Peter placed the toe of his one good foot against the wall and lifted himself further, climbing until he reached the ceiling where he positioned himself, tucked away in the corner furthest from the lights.
Tony just stared at him, his mouth gaping.
Peter, after making sure he was secure, lifted his head and met Tony’s gaze. His eyes were apologetic, his face still terribly pale.
A drop of blood fell and splashed on the floor.
Adam turned, hanging up the phone with a muttered curse. He glanced at Tony first, who had quickly shut his mouth, and then to where Peter had been.
“Where—” Adam was cut off as Peter sprang into action, swinging down from his crouch and kicking Adam in the face with his good leg.
Adam immediately crumpled, his nose gushing blood and his eyes rolling up in his head.
Peter let go of the ceiling and flipped down, landing in a crouch then hissing at the wound in his thigh.
He scrambled over to Tony, grabbed the handcuffs and pulled, instantly breaking them.
“Three more guys are coming,” Peter said quickly, not meeting Tony’s eyes. He crossed to his backpack, abandoned in the corner of the office, and pulled out two bulky pieces of metal and plastic, which he fastened on both wrists.
“You need your gauntlet,” he muttered, almost to himself. Tony was still sitting in shock on the floor.
Peter limped toward the corner where Adam had thrown his watch earlier, lifting the filing cabinet with one hand and fishing it out before tossing it to Tony. Tony caught it by habit, numbly fastening it around his wrist.
Finally, finally, Peter paused, looking up at him from under his lashes. His hair was a mess, the haphazard curls a little stiff with sweat, and his favorite Midtown sweatshirt was dyed crimson from blood, along with one leg of Peter’s jeans. The kid was swaying slightly.
They stared at each other for a moment. “...Well?” Peter finally asked.
Tony pushed himself to his feet. “Pete...”
Metal doors slammed and loud voices echoed in the hall. Peter jumped, then winced, and Tony, finally with it enough to act, stepped in front of him, activating his gauntlet.
Peter made to climb the wall again, but Tony drew in a sharp breath and he looked over his shoulder.
“Dad. I can help.”
“You’re hurt,” Tony argued. “And...”
“And what?” Peter asked. The footsteps were getting closer.
Tony opened his mouth. And I don’t know what you are, he thought. But he wouldn’t say that to his kid. It would break his heart.
“Just be careful.”
The men barged into the room and were instantly met with the combined strength of Iron Man and Spider-Man. It was over in no more than a minute.
They both stood, panting and staring at each other for a minute, and then Peter was flinging himself at his dad. Tony instantly opened his arms, pulling his son close to his chest and sinking to the ground.
They were talking over each other, Tony grappling to get a look at Peter’s injuries while Peter tried to bat his hands away.
“I’m sorry, Dad, I didn’t know how to tell you, I hated lying to you, I swear, but I have to do this,” Peter was stammering, hissing between words as he tried to shift all the weight off his leg.
Tony shook his head, barely even hearing Peter. “How are you even conscious right now, kid? You’ve lost so much blood, we-we’ve got to get you to a hospital, I need to call an-an ambulance—” Tony tugged Peter’s shirt up, expecting to find a gaping wound still oozing blood, but instead seeing what looked like a week old injury.
Peter finally stopped talking. Tony swallowed, then turned to his leg, tearing at the denim enough to see that the leg wound, while still open, was barely bleeding at all.
There was silence for a breath.
“Dad?”
Tony put a steadying hand on Peter’s knee. “Oh, thank heavens,” he breathed. “Oh, my gosh, thank you.” He felt weak, suddenly, shaking all over as pure relief flooded him. With trembling hands, he reached out and yanked Peter into his arms.
“Dad?” Peter asked again, his warm breath fanning across Tony’s neck. Warm. Alive. “Are... are you ok?”
“Oh, my baby,” Tony whispered, burying his hand in Peter’s hair. “I thought you were going to die. I thought... I have never been so scared in my life.”
“I’m sorry,” Peter muttered, blood-sticky hands clutching at Tony’s dress shirt.
“No, don’t... Just...” He pressed his lips to Peter’s temple and stayed there, breathing his boy in.
“You’re not... not mad?” Peter asked, hesitant, his muscles tense.
Honestly, Tony couldn’t even think about the fact that his son was now, suddenly, a super-powered vigilante risking his life fighting crime and Tony hadn’t even noticed. He was still in too much shock to be mad.
“No. I don’t care. Well, I do care. I’m going to care a lot once you’ve been given the all clear by the doctor, but right now I just... I love you, Peter. I love you and right now I’m too relieved to be mad.”
Peter slumped against him, relieved. “Love you too, Dad.”
“Ok, Spider-Kid, let’s get out of here. The cops are on their way and I don’t want to be there to meet them. Not to mention Doctor Cho’s got a bullet to dig out of you,” Tony said, pressing a quick kiss to Peter’s head and then starting to heave himself up, helping Peter stand.
“Eh, it’ll be better than digging it out myself,” Peter said shrugging. Tony’s heart constricted.
“Which you’ve never done, right?”
Peter scooped up his bag to avoid eye contact. “Of course not, it was a hypothetical example.”
“Uh-huh,” Tony said, slinging an arm over Peter’s shoulders and pulling him close into his side as they limped along. “And the call I got from Principal Morita about you ditching class was totally hypothetical too, right?”
Peter chuckled, a high, nervous sound. “Of course.”
“Oh, buddy, you’re going to be so grounded when I come down from this adrenaline high.”
Peter smiled, pressed himself closer to his dad. “Yeah, that’s fair.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Superfamily AU?
What if Miles’ parents died of a fire when he was around six months old. After adopting a five year old Peter five years prior, Steve and Tony decided they wanted another kid, and the adoption agency gave them Miles.
Sixteen years later, Peter was off living in his own apartment with his partner occasionally visiting his parents and the other Avengers at the tower. Movie nights on weekends were still the norm for their family and Peter made sure he always took Miles out on Sundays to have a ‘brother bonding day.’ It’s tradition. Peter took after their dad; he had a love and a knack for science Miles would never quite understand, but Miles took after his pops. On the days Peter and their dad would lock themselves away in the lab trying to figure out some sort of equation or theory to solve and prove, Miles and their pops would draw and paint for hours in the studio.
When Spider-Man showed up when Miles was six, Miles could not be more entranced. The masked vigilante the Avengers were assigned to arrest and bring into SHIELD (a job they never really took all that seriously to begin with) was the coolest thing in the world to Miles. He could tell that his dad never really liked Spider-Man because the young hero was a risk, but his pops thought the masked vigilante was doing good. So did Miles.
One day while painting graffiti in a tunnel off the subway tracks (he may get the arts gene from his pops, but his dad’s rebellion streak was in his blood as well) Miles got bit by a spider, and the next day... Well? There were a few issues. Suddenly his fingers were sticking to things - like the pretty new girl’s hair - and the ceiling and the walls. For the life of him, he could not LET GO!
So Miles went back to the subway to look for the spider, but lo and behold, his favorite superhero crashed the party, and he’s fighting a villain, which was kinda more than a little awesome. That was, until he got caught up in the middle of the fight. A fight where the state of New York literally hung in the balance between being sucked into a black hole or not. It seemed like Spider-Man was just about to save the day when Miles slipped and started to fall into the sub-basement. Without hesitating, Spider-Man leapt to rescue him, catching him and bringing him to a metal cart. That’s when Miles’ sensed it, and he coulf see by the head tilt, the narrowing then widening of white eyes that Spider-Man could sense it as well, blurting out: “You’re like me!” as if he were a child receiving the best Christmas gift ever.
Offering to teach Miles the ropes, Spider-Man smiled beneath the mask before shooting away and back up to the powerful generator he was supposed to destroy. Miles watched the epic battle between Green Goblin and Spider-Man unfold, excitement and adrenaline pumping through him, but then the generator went off and Green Goblin shoved Spider-Man into the beam. The room exploded as Spider-Man was yanked out and the generator began to break down, exploding the sub-level they were on. When the dust cleared, Miles could see Spider-Man’s prone body lying in the rubble and instantly climbed down to help. Spider-Man’s breathing was labored and he didn’t look good. Parts of the mask were torn, one familiar brown eye staring back at him.
Lifting the mask with trembling fingers, Miles couldn’t help the choked gasp from leaving his closing throat when it revealed Peter underneath. His brother gave him a weak smile and assured him everything would be alright. It’d be okay. He’d be fine. It was just, Peter needed Miles to use his powers to take the over-ride code up to the the ceiling and shut the machine off for good. When he was done that, they’d go home. But a shuffling and a loud, deep voice echoed from around a corner of precariously swaying rubble pile and Peter turned even whiter. Frantically, he forced the USB into Miles’ hand and told him to run. At first, Miles didn’t move, but then Peter yelled it frantically, and Miles had never heard his brother sound more terrified in his life. The man had always been the picture of calm. A rock Miles could climb on whenever the seas around him had been storming. So he ran.
Miles looked back once, but it was all he needed. He could hear the muffled conversation with perfect clarity, the anger from the man and the resignation from his brother. And he watched as the man rose his fists into the air, watched as he brought them down against Peter’s chest, watched as his brother took his last breath.
With tears blurring his vision and sobs choking the air from his lungs, Miles ran, the USB held firmly in his grip. Ran all the way back to the tower. When he got there, his parents were shocked since he was supposed to be at school in his dorm, but they let him stay the night nonetheless. Miles could hear it from his room: the moment they get the call and learn that their son, Peter Parker, Spider-Man, was dead.
The days following passed in a hollow blur. People mourn, his classmates kept sending him sympathetic looks, the new girl kept trying to talk to him, not seeming to understand that his brother had just died, and his parents... his dad wouldn’t leave the shop. Hadn’t for days, and Miles had to wonder if he’d been broken so bad that his dad had broken his sobriety and spent his hours in a drunk stupor trying to forget the pain. His pops went in and out of the workshop; the first day he stayed in there as well, probably holding his dad and himself together best he could, inviting Miles to come, but not pushing when he refused. After that, though, pops would bring food to dad, try to get him to come out, spend a few hours probably sharing in their combined grief, and spend the rest of his hours trying and trying to get Miles to talk to him. To tell him what he knew his son is hiding. But Miles said nothing because he knew his parents would hate him. They’d hate him because he was there and he didn’t save him. Couldn’t step up the way the rest of them could, and it was his fault Peter died.
There were so many people there for Peter’s funeral. Him, his pops, and his dad were at the very front, Aunt May right behind them, standing in front of an oak coffin. Miles couldn’t help but think this was some kind of sick joke. His pops was standing tall, silent tears running down his grim face as he stared forward stoically, body positioned in parade rest except for the single arm wrapped around his dad. His dad who’s wearing sunglasses and looking pale and gaunt. He grips on to pops firmly as if that was the only thing keeping him standing, and Miles began to think that it was. His dad’s other hand came up to wrap around his collarbones, pulling Miles firmly against a firm chest where a circular object poked into his spine and Miles finally let go, turning around, hugging his dad, and sobbing into his shoulder as his pop’s pulled them both into his broad chest as if he could protect them from this. They all knew he couldn’t, but it was a nice sentiment.
That night, Miles took the USB and visited Peter’s grave by himself. He tried to tell Peter, convince him, or maybe just himself, that Miles couldn’t do this. He couldn’t save Peter. How could he save the entirety of New York?
There was a sudden tingle at the back of Miles’ neck, and he whipped around just in time to send the large shadow currently lurking over him about twenty feet into the air with a bolt of electricity. A bolt of electricity that came from his own palm. He also found himself being tugged into the snow by something yanking at his chest. Cursing under his breath and shouting out an apology, Miles got up and ran to the man, inspecting the string of white stuck to his sternum. Then he stopped in his tracks because that man looked familiar. Really familiar.
When the cops came, though, it  wasn’t like he could stay. His parent’s would kill him if they found out he’d sneaked out. They hadn’t let him leave the tower, with the exception of walking to and from school every day (and hell no is he spending the nights in the un-fortified place anymore), since they got the call of Peter’s death. And they most certainly hadn’t let him go anywhere alone. But he was stuck to this man who was wearing a Spider-Man costume and looked like his brother would in a good twenty-five years. Except maybe a little fatter. Maybe.
With his best shot - which, he’d admit, really wasn’t all that great - Miles grabbed the man’s wrist and aimed the sticky-string on a building the opposite side of the road. He managed to hit a passing train, which was great because the cops wouldn’t get a chance to get to him, but also not great because they were now being dragged along by a freaking train and he may be breaking his not-brother’s face and body as they bounced along the ground and in between passing vehicles.
After they came to a stop, Miles took the man to the subway station because it was the only place he knew he could hide from his parents and the cops, and tied him up. Something the man gets out of easily once he wakes up. It was cool. Super cool because the man said he was Peter Parker. He was Peter Parker and he was alive and well and Spider-Man and standing right in front of Miles. Miles couldn’t help but hug the guy who was not really his brother, but he’s close enough right now, and Miles would take anything at the moment. The man pushed him away, muttering something about kids and how gross and weird they were and started walking away. Something that Miles couldn’t let happen because his brother thought he could save New York. His brother asked him to do this and Miles will be dammed if he didn’t. Not now. Now that he had a chance.
It took some convincing (and some pretty cool walking up a wall action) but Mr. Parker agreed to help him. Well, he agreed to fix the issue himself, but same difference. There was just the teeny tiny problem of the USB breaking during their little train escapade. But Mr. Parker said they could make a new one, and Miles decided to take this as his chance to convince the man to teach him how to be Spider-Man.
They break-in to Doc Oc’s office, which somehow translated to training - not that Miles knew how it translated to that, but apparently it did - and got the computer. They also learned the Miles could turn invisible. Also really cool Oh, and the pretty new girl at his school? Her name was Gwen and she’s one hell of a badass Spider-Woman. The three of them trekked to Aunt May’s house after the fight because Mr. Parker believed that this universe’s Spider-Man had a lair there. Miles wouldn’t be surprised; Peter always made sure to visit her at least once a week, and sometimes he’d bring Miles with him as well. She looked at Miles sympathetically when she sees the group and pulled him in for a hug, which he accepted gratefully. Aunt May had always been warm and soft, and she always smelled sweet and homey. She brought them in, but informed them that Peter never kept a lair there, but did introduce them to three more people. Peter Parker, a man in a black and white mask and an old-timey accent, Peni Parker, a girl from the future with a killer robot, and Spider-Pig. That’s it. He’s just a pig.
No one had any other ideas as to where Peter might have kept his lair except Miles. And it wouldn’t be fun or easy.
The group made their way to the tower and Miles let them in. Somehow, he got JARVIS to aid them in staying away from any other people. Mr. Parker and Gwen both raised their brows at him when JARVIS told him that his parents had been worried sick about him, but he’d just informed them both that Miles was here and okay. Miles just shrugged at them and told them that Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, A.K.A. Iron Man and Captain America, were his dads.
Together, they made their way through the tower, and Miles convinced JARVIS to lead them to Peter’s personal lab. He’d never been down here before, but until this point, he also had no idea Peter had a lab. The lights turned on as they descend, and Miles felt his breath catch at the sight. He could feel his brother in this place. Spider-Man suits lined the walls like Iron Man suits did in dad’s workshop, and Miles could make out a few vials and sparking wires spread across a few tables.
He stopped dead when he also spotted his dad sitting at one of the tables looking at the group in shock.
When his dad looked from Mr. Parker to him, Miles couldn’t hold it back anymore. In a rush of air, he told his dad everything. How he was bitten, how he was there, how he couldn’t save Peter, and how he visited his brother’s grave and ran into another dimension Peter Parker. By the end, his dad was holding him in his arms, telling him that everything would be okay. That it wasn’t his fault, and Miles just holds onto him tighter.
He also said that he needed Miles to stop, now. To let it go and let the Avengers handle this.
Miles stepped away, and he could feel the shock growing on his features as he stared at his dad in astonishment. He insisted that it’s okay; it was his duty to fight in place of his brother. He promised Peter. Promised. His dad, on the other hand, started yelling at him, telling him how dangerous the job was, how he wouldn’t have let Peter be Spider-Man if he had known, how he was not going to lose his other son. And Miles insisted he could fight, that he could help because he needed to be the one to press the button to close the portal so the rest of the Spider-People (and pig) could go home. He was ready. When his dad said that he’s not, Miles looked to the other Spider-Versions for help, but they just looked at him sadly. Mr. Parker stepped forward and tried to say that they might still have time to train him and work with him, but everyone, especially his dad, was convinced that he wasn’t.
Angrily, Miles stormed out, rushing past his pops when he got back upstairs without explanation and heading to his dorm at school. When the group found him, they all had sad looks on their faces, and Mr. Parker put a hand on his shoulder and said, “I didn’t know he was your brother.” Miles just shook his head, looking up at them and glaring at them. He could help, he knew he could. He didn’t want their pity or understanding; he just wanted to fulfill the promise he made. Watching as the rest of them leave, Miles eyed Mr. Parker as the man circled him; he tried to fight. He really did, but Mr. Parker was right. He didn’t know how to electrocute people, didn’t know how to turn invisible on command. So Miles was left in his chair, tied up in webbing and without the USB.
Closing his eyes, he thought back on all the times he and Peter had hung out. All the times when he talked to Peter about Spider-Man, asked him about his thoughts on the guy. He could still see the sly smile that crossed Peter’s face at the questions he answered nonetheless. It was one particular conversation Miles remembers. One conversation that made all the pieces of the puzzle fall together, and Miles wondered how he never figured it out before.
He’d asked Peter why Spider-Man was a good guy. Unlike pops and dad, he wasn’t bound to any organization and didn’t need to answer to anyone. His identity had been kept secret for years now, and no one seemed none the wiser as to who Spider-Man was. Peter had just laughed and ruffled his hair. Miles remembered Peter asking him if Miles would choose to use powers like that for selfish gain if he’d had them. When Miles shook his head, looking a little disgruntled at the thought, Peter got this far away look in his eye as he stared out the window of the diner they’d found. He started talking, as if recalling something deep within the recesses of his brain, about how people were given a choice. They were always given a choice between good and bad, and sometimes that line was a lot thinner than people might think. But there was always a right choice. There had to be because what else would separate them from the people behind bars? What separated dad and pops from the villains they’d faced? Sometimes those choices seemed impossible to make; certain situations seemed impossible to figure out. In those time, though, Peter said he thought Spider-Man probably recalled the people in his life who got him to where he was. The people he admired most, and he’d ask himself what they’d do. If they were here now, what would they do? What would they tell him to do? Peter had shaken himself from his stupor, then, and looked back across the table at Miles, a bright smile coming to his face. He’d leaned forward, like he was about to tell Miles a secret, and Miles smiled back leaning in to hear him. “With great power comes great responsibility,” Peter murmured and leaned back. In a louder voice, as he looked down to pick at his half-eaten food, Peter smiled softly. “Uncle Ben told me that, remember? Sometimes I think Spider-Man somehow has that exact same advice constantly running through his head.” Miles had just smiled and leaned back himself, telling Peter that he missed Uncle Ben as well, even if they hadn’t been related. Uncle Ben never seemed to give that much thought, and Peter’s smile grew as he began shoveling food back into his mouth recalling how much dad and pops loved Uncle Ben as well. Dad had always appreciated the man’s enjoyment of the lab and his tech and his wicked sense of humor and adoration for his sons, and Pops loved his calm demeanor and wise remarks on certain problems.
Memory firm in his mind, Miles took a deep breath and pushed at the energy swirling in his core, feeling it begin to burn its way outward. A smile graced his lips as he heard the crackling and felt the webbing begin to loosen around him. It fell away and Miles jumped to the door, rushing back to the tower.
To his surprise, his dad was still in the lab when Miles got there. His eyes were red rimmed, like they always were these days, but there was a sense of peace about him. He blinked as Miles entered, letting out a breath and closing his eyes. When he opened them, they were determined and set. “If you’re gonna do this, then you’re doing it right,” he said, and Miles watched in astonishment as his dad began tearing through the lab with the manic energy he’d been lacking lately, gathering things in his hands. Pausing in front of Miles, he raised his brows. “You gonna help or what, son?” A smile crossed Miles’ face and he ran to his dad and hugged him tight. His dad simply hugged him back before pushing him towards the suits, telling Miles to grab one while he fixed up the web shooters. Together, they improved the suit and the shooter, his dad taking things apart and putting them back together before handing them over to Miles to redesign how he wanted.
With one last hug, his dad watching him with a proud look on his face, Miles ran out the door and up to the top of the tower, a black suit with red accents covering from head to toe. Taking a deep breath, he leapt down, feeling the wind across the spandex covering his face until shooting his hand out and sending a web to the nearest building. Swinging across New York, running with cars, jumping from rooftop to rooftop... it was amazing. He could feel exactly what Peter had felt; fell in love with what his brother fell in love with. In the suit. it was like Peter was right next to him.
He was worried he wouldn’t make it in time, but Miles jumped at the guy right before he could take out Mr. Parker. Smiling widely at his friends, Miles webbed the USB towards him, asking, “Well? What are you waiting for?”
It was the most exhilarating moment in his life, and Miles never felt so alive before. He jumped between buses and streetlights and other floating fixtures as the machine whirred behind him, universes once again colliding. Suddenly, it wasn’t so hard anymore, fighting next to Mr. Parker and Spider-Woman. He felt like he’d found his place. Taking a running leap, Miles launched himself onto the ceiling, crawling to where the controls sat bared, and inserted the key. One by one, he watched as his friends made their way home. Gwen even promised they’d see each other again; they were friends now, after all. Then it was just Mr. Parker, who lifted his mask and searched Miles face.
“I’m sorry you lost him,” he said quietly, and Miles closed his eyes, nodding his head slowly and swallowing. “He would be real proud of you, right now.” And Miles felt his lips quirk. “I know this because I’m proud of you right now. So very proud.”
Letting go of his hold, Miles launched himself at Mr. Parker, hugging him tight before letting him go and grabbing at the key. “Go,” he said, shaking off Mr. Parker’s arguments, grabbing him quickly and holding him out towards the portal. “I’ve got this,” he said, voice sure. They both blinked at a shifting of movement from the corner of their eyes, watching as Miles’ dad stepped into the control center and looked up at them. His dad, not wearing the Iron Man armor, standing back in a clean pair of jeans, a clean AC/DC shirt, and a newly shaven face. Miles met his eyes, and his dad nodded at him. Miles’ eyes shifted back to Mr. Parker before he repeated, “I’ve got this.” With a nod of his own, Mr. Parker smiled let Miles drop him into the portal and back home to put his own life back together.
When the man who killed his brother pulled Miles away from the ceiling, he saw red. He so desperately wanted revenge. Wanted to make the man pay for killing Peter, and Peter’s words flashed through his mind. If he’d been alive, if it were him fighting this man, Peter wouldn’t kill him. Wouldn’t waste the time or energy because it wasn’t worth it and there was a portal that needed closing before New York became a black hole.
The man was strong, though. Stronger than Miles, and he felt himself losing as the man pummeled him to the bus that served as the ground beneath them. He felt his energy draining from him as the man stalked forward towards his prone body, talking at him about the pain of losing his family and the futility at which Miles was fighting. The man had proven once that he could beat Spider-Man, and he was about to do it again.
Cheek pressed against the cool metal of the bus, Miles glanced at his dad who was staring at him, wide-eyed and gripping the window pane where shattered glass was surely digging into his palms. At that look, his dad cried out, “Get up, Spider-Man!” And Miles knew what he had to do.
Struggling to get himself up, Miles staggered to his feet, wavering in front of a man larger than life who could beat him on pure, brute strength. Miles might not be as strong, but that wasn’t all he had. As the man stepped closer, Miles reached out, digging back into himself and poking at that energy curling and building inside his gut; he pushed with all his might, shocking the man and sending him flying back. Hearing an excited whoop from his dad over the jarring noise of the machines, Miles flung himself back to the control panel, grabbed the USB and twisted.
Beneath (or was it above?) him, he felt the building begin to shake. Watched his dad wobble and fall to the floor as another earthquake wracked New York city, just as it had the last time the machine shut down. He gaped on as the beams sucked everything back into itself before bursting in a bright flash of light. Closing his eyes and raising an arm to cover his face, Miles waited for everything to subside before blinking them back open. Looking around, everything looked to have gone back to normal. The beams were gone, the machines destroyed, his dad was stumbling back onto his feet, looking up to make sure Miles was okay. The large man lay on the ground unconscious and... a smaller, lankier frame lay a few feet away. A frame in a red and blue suit with a tuft of brown hair on top of his head, and young, twenty-six year old features relaxed as a chest slowly rose and fell.
Crying out, Miles jumped down, landing next to the person who looked exactly like his brother. Exactly like the Peter Parker from this universe. Grasping on to lean shoulders, Miles shook and shook hard until brown eyes fluttered open. They didn’t quite focus, couldn’t seem to figure out how, but a relieved smile graced this Peter’s features. “Oh,” he sighed, closing his eyes again and relaxing into Miles hold. “You figured out how to shut the thing down. Good. Told you I’d be alright, didn’t I?”
Peter, his brother, couldn’t seem to keep himself awake after that and promptly passed out again. Miles didn’t even look up when he heard the scraping of footsteps and his dad finally stepping in front of him, looking down at Peter with a mix of awe and shock on his face. His dad couldn’t seem to keep the tears at bay, and suddenly he was sobbing over Peter’s sleeping form, cradling Peter’s head in his lap. Miles let out a choked sob himself, and then his dad was tugging Miles towards his chest as well, hugging both his sons close.
“My sons,” he whispered into their hair, and Miles couldn’t help but smile as he wrapped his arms tightly around his father and his brother.

wip game: flustered/wind/whisper/look!!!—brige
send me a word (check the tags on my rb)!!!
the characters im most comfortable writing arent the type to get flustered very easily which means im pulling a few sentences out of my ass but thankfully!!!!! i have everything else 🤝🏻
untitled yamaguchi neighbor au (tentatively titled banana pancakes)
the knock comes again, this time sounding less sure of itself. in your attempt to stop any further distraction from your show, you open the door.
oh. it’s the cute boy that moved in last week.
oh, you realize in horror, it’s the cute boy that moved in last week. for fuck’s sake, you’re wearing a my little pony shirt from middle school. middle school! “hi,” you blurt.
“i’m really sorry to bother you, but would you happen to have any instant pancake mix? i could’ve sworn i had some left, but i think my friends used the last of it when they stayed over, and-” he looks even cuter when he’s flustered. was that even legal? even in the less than ideal lighting of the hallway, you find yourself counting his freckles before being brought back to reality.
luck of the draw, a futakuchi superhero au
The night winds have always felt their best when you’re above the city, wings carrying you higher than you ever thought you could go. It looks beautiful from up here, and you land at the top of the highest building of the city, taking it all in. Three-Eyes had come by earlier to give you more instruction, and your head still buzzes a bit when you shake it, still feeling his influence.
as long as it takes, a bokuto reincarnation au
“koutarou,” you whisper, and the weight of his true name forces his head to bow to you. he grits his teeth, says your name like it’s poison on his tongue.
that’s all he gets to say before kuroo silences him for good, the ethereal light around the former angel stolen away in seconds. you bring his body back to the town. you collect your reward. you feel hollow, the naked surprise on his face all you can see behind your eyelids.
thirty days has september, a kuroo demon au
unfortunately, the demon is still in your living room when you wake up (feeling significantly better) seven hours later. he’s channel surfing as you leave your room, and from the looks of it, isn’t finding anything fun to watch.
“hello again,” he greets, not even looking up at you.
“so it’s true then? you really are some demon we managed to summon?” one of your friends was big on witchcraft, but you thought it would be the innocent tarot-card type, not the type that brings the creatures of hell into your shitty apartment.
“yup. call me kuroo.”

Ghost-Spider #1 Thoughts
Tumblr media
Since I enjoyed the Spider-Geddon aftermath issue of Ghost Spider and because seeing Spider-Gwen meet Earth 616 Jackal intrigued me I decided to check out the current story arc and...um...oh dear...
So confession. I dropped Spider-Gwen’s title after reading the issue that debuted Earth 65 Kraven. The moment I saw him with his stupid Hipster look I was like ‘Noooooooooooooooope’.
So consequently I missed out on such gems as Gwenom and other great ideas I’m sure were inspired by variant covers.
What I’m saying is I’m out of the loop and therefore any analysis I might be able to provide isn’t going to be that great because I’m literally lacking in information.
That all being said I also maintain what Stan the Man said once upon a time, every comic is someone’s first. That goes for issue #1s moreso than others!
So we come to this title.
Was it good.
From where I’m standing...no not really.
Okay so first of all the art is lovely, it really is. And the scene where George’s surprise party goes very wrong was really well paced out by the art, which sold the comedy very well!
As for other positives...um...the story remembered to address the fact that Gwen can’t just show up to Earth 616 and go to school there. The idea that Iron Man established a scholarship for extra terrestrial and extra terrestrial people fixes that problem...but it opens up a boatload of questions.
Is Gwen and fellow students from other dimensions like her stealing student places from people based in Earth 616?
Wouldn’t education standards vary wildly across dimensions? After all a lot of times when it comes to education it’s less how well you did as much as where you went (or sadly who you know). I mean I know people from my university, which was no slouch, who got great grades but were passed over for jobs by people with less impressive grades but from more prestigious universities. Is a grade from Oxford or Yale on Earth 616 worth as much on the job market as it is on Earth 65? It may well be that on Earth 65 (which we know has a different history to Earth 616 and isn’t necessarily a reflection of OUR real life world) ESU is regarded as a lesser school that’s easy to pass.
Wouldn’t the subject of allowing aliens and other dimensional people to attend schools on Earth 616 open up a HUGE political debate regarding immigration? Provided it was known to the government of course and it Tony was hiding it from them then isn’t that super unethical?
What about the potential for disease and illnesses that could be brought over from a dimension with a starkly different germ history to Earth 616?
Do Gwen’s fellow students get to know she’s a foreign student from another dimension?
Are such things REALLy so common place blasé in the 616 universe? Surely the norm is to acknowledge that aliens and such things exist but to suspend disbelief to allow life to go on as normal, but if people are just actually reacting realistically to something like this doesn’t that break down the verisimilitude of the Marvel universe?
If Gwen is attending school with the legal name of Gwen Stacy and LOOKS like Gwen Stacy wouldn’t that raise a shitton of problems for her because she looks JUST LIKE A DEAD WOMAN! I mean Gwen’s clone at least changed her name. Is ESU really not going to have records of that time one of their students was murdered on a bridge? Gwen’s death was public knowledge the Green Goblin boasted about it on TV and Ben Urich wrote a book on it!
All of which is academic because even if Gwen earns a college education on Earth 616...how is that going to help her in the long run?
Think about it, she might be taught skills and stuff that she could then use in any jobs she adopts. But having skills is sadly only half the battle when it comes to getting a job. Of equal or possibly greater value is having the PROOF you have those skills. Someone can be a brilliant self-taught nuclear engineer. But if they’ve not got a college diploma to prove it they aren’t getting a job.
How is a diploma from Earth 616 going to mean anything besides a piece of paper on Earth 65. There wouldn’t be any records proving she attended ESU and even if Gwen tells them that she earned the degree in another universe they’d only have her word for it, faking a piece of paper saying you graduated is easy! Even if they did believe her no one in authority on Earth 65 has the power to verify how legit or qualified Earth 616’s ESU is. It could be an online course for all they know. Not to mention do the residents of Earth 65 even know that travel between parallel universes is even a thing?
I’m sure a lot of 616 citizens are probably vaguely aware of that but on Earth 65 that isn’t necessarily the case because they’ve not had a long history of Skrull invasions!
It’s all just so contrived to just have Gwen situated in Earth 616 because that would boost her sales in theory.
Creatively it causes problems too.
Let’s put aside how it means subplots and supporting characters are going to have to be divided between two universes where their collision will be difficult if not impossible.
Let’s even put aside how being a public figure in Earth 65 whilst she spends a huge chunk of her time in another universe entirely puts Gwen’s Dad (who’s human and at risk from heart attacks) at HUGE risk!
What is really gained creatively from having Gwen on Earth 616 where she can interact with like 616 Peter, 616 MJ, 616 Miles?
Fanservice. Sure. I mean that’s why I’m reading this.
But creatively speaking it is just...impoverishing for everyone.
Let’s first look at this from the POV of the 616 residents.
Miles gets to potentially date Gwen more easily now. This is a bad thing. Miles is already too similar to Peter and whilst this dynamic might work in the animated movies (which are themselves an AU to the comics) in an ongoing Miles story having him literally dating a version of Spider-Man’s girlfriend is reductive. Not to mention it might be a bad idea to have him date a fellow super in general, it undermines his normalcy and relative normalcy is important to Spider-Heroes. In this case it wouldn’t even be dating a hero, it’d be dating a hero from another universe!
For Mary Jane it also undermines her normalcy too as well as undermining the weight of Gwen’s death in her life because a version of Gwen, is alive and well and capable of regularly interacting with her.
The same holds true but a thousand times more for Peter. Unless you quarantine off this series as ‘Spider-Gwen continuity’ any time Peter feels mournful over Gwen now is going to feel rather hollow because you know he is regularly chatty with Spider-Gwen and literally helped her get into the same school as him!
That’s another bad thing about the comic by the way. Isn’t being on record as helping an other dimensional version of his dead girlfriend going to seriously put the spotlight on Peter in a big way? Does he even have the clout to help her get into ESU given how he’s only recently returned there himself? And what was with the dialogue implying he works there? When did that happen? He attends school there but he’s not got a job there last I checked??????????????
Also...isn’t Peter like seriously waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too chill about Gwen? Remember how in the 1970s Clone Saga (the story this comic actively references) he was seriously shaken up when Gwen’s clone appeared? Remember when he had varying degrees of similar reactions EVERY time one of Gwen’s clones showed up, including when Spider-Gwen was impersonating one of Gwen’s clones in Clone Conspiracy?
Now he’s face to face with a living breathing version of Gwen Stacy who is arguably more real than any of those clones and he’s all smiles and meh. He doesn’t even think about it in the other titles! Like dude if Spider-Man came face to face with a living Gwen Stacy that would dwell on his mind somewhat!
Now let’s consider this from Gwen’s POV.
What does she gain from interacting on Earth 616?
Well she gets to be comparatively more normal than on her own Earth where she is a celebrity. Okay cool...couldn’t you just get to the same ends by mindwiping her identity from people on Earth 65? I mean we already did this with Peter Parker why is the integrity of Spider-Gwen’s narrative more precious?
She gets to interact with Earth 616 Jackal...which is really more interesting from the Jackal’s POV because does she even know who the hell Miles Warren is? It doesn’t seem like it based on this issue. I mean that’s why I’m reading this arc right now. Because seeing Miles Warren react to a living Gwen Stacy is an interesting idea to me. But why move the main character in this direction to do something interesting with a villain. Not even one of her own villains either, another character’s villain. Oh but Earth 65 Jackal is also doing stuff. Why is he even evil in her universe she’s not dead? Was he in love with Peter in her universe?
This basically applies to every villain and supporting character Gwen could bump into on Earth 616. Norman, Harry, Jameson, Curt Connors, Jill Stacy, etc.
The most interesting characters she could interact with from her POV are Peter and Mary Jane. But with Mary Jane you have to think the mileage doesn’t go much further than “Wow you are much nicer than my Earth’s Em Jay (who’s name has apparently changed now) who’s a total diva b-word!”.
And with Peter...well this issue already basically dispelled the drama from that. She regards him as a older friend but not a peer, not her Peter and someone she can chat to and fight crime with sometimes. That’s it really. There was more emotion and drama derived from that Conway backup story where she met the Goblin Peter back in Spider-Verse.
Meanwhile her own supporting cast and villains are very much left in the lurch. I mean the Man-Wolf is getting released on her Earth and I’m just like ‘so what she’s not even there right now!”
And like Peter and Miles this torpedoes the idea of Gwen being relatively normal. Juggling normal life problems with superhero problems flies out of the window when you are commuting between dimensions, one of which you are famously dead and the other of which you are just famous.
What else is there to talk about.
So Gwen’s costume is apparently composed of spiders but is also a symbiote...um...weird. in fairness maybe that’s addressed in older issues.
What’s weirder was the random giant rat...what was that even about?????????????
The only other positive I have to say about this issue was that at least it wasn’t as pretentious and not as obnoxiously zany as Latour’s run.
Finally...what was up with that opening page saying Gwen got her powers a few months ago??????
You telling me Gwen got her powers in high school, became famous as Spider-Gwen, Peter got crazy and turned himself into a lizard before dying, Gwen changed her world view, a campaign to capture her happened, she went to college, THEN Spider-Verse happened, THEN everything in volume 1 happened, THEN everything in Secret Wars happened, THEN everything in volume 2, Clone Conspiracy and Web Warriors happened (including the Spider Women crossover), then everything in volume 3 including Spider-Geddon happened and all this shit happened...in under a year?
What the fuck was everyone on speed or something that’s ridiculous!
I’m gonna pick up the next few issues but if they’re more of the same I hope the Jackal story wraps up sooner rather than later.
