WTAF. I spoke about this a few times before. People in many parts of West Asia/many Arab people have been wearing keffiyehs for CENTURIES. They represent many things, and yes -they do symbolize Palestinian resistance and solidarity -and if you have an issue with anyone wearing a keffiyeh in any space you're a genocidal apologist.
This is BEYOND ignorant and IS discrimination. I hope we see a class-action lawsuit that sues the provincial government for doing this/normalizing this because it's ILLEGAL. These politicians (especially the PC's -who were shouting no to overturn it and one of them saying they felt UNSAFE... the audacity) are just racist bigots.
something about how trades really do affect players. how it's not just us as fans being crazy or reading too much into it. it's real and it's painful. erik johnson has lacked the hutzpah he once had ever since leaving colorado, as if he could bear landeskog's injury but the second he was forced to leave it all came crashing down. sidney crosby has lost much of the joy he once carried and it's because he had the human, golden embodiment of that joy in jake guentzel torn away from him when he needed it most. dylan larkin shed genuine, heartfelt, distraught tears when tyler bertuzzi was traded away. the penguins still welcome marc-andre fleury to pittsburgh every time he plays there because, no matter where he is, that is his home. pk subban could never return to the same player he was after he was taken from price. trevor zegras is seemingly incomplete without drysdale at his side. brandon duhaime is lacking his connor dewar. bowen byram no longer has his alex newhook to lean on and laugh with. travis koneckny and nolan patrick may never even get the chance to play another game with or against one another. and who could imagine kuznetsov as anyone but a capital? do you really think of pavelski in the green of the stars or do you see him proud in teal beside thornton and marleau? did shea weber ever really stop being a nashville predator? and what about beauvillier, horvat, compher, dumolin, burakovsky, kadri, yamamoto, hornqvist, eberle, o'rielly, barrie, jost, gaudreau, karlsson, carter and richards, martin, and so many others? even wayne gretzky himself went to three teams post trade, searching for that spark he had in edmonton after they made him leave. jagr had eight after pittsburgh. you are not crazy for grieving, in some small way, a player you lost. and they aren't crazy for feeling distraught either. these teams are family. and family is everything, even if it gets ripped apart so easily.
There’s something about Haviah Mighty’s voice that always takes me out. It’s magical. She’s such a talented artist — next level. Definitely one of Toronto’s best artists in 2022.
This song is a great lyrically, has moments that are tongue in cheek, she shows some vocal dexterity, sings, gets into her R&B bag. It’s so good.
Shad comes in and flows so effortlessly. It’s beautiful. The collaboration — the Yin and Yang vibes, the male and female energy speaking to each other, sometimes about each other, at each other, never over each other, cleanly sharing the space. It’s amazing.
Earlier this winter, when Toronto resident, K.J. McCusker was out observing nature, he saw something unusual soaring above the city.
“That bird is really big. It can’t be what I think it is. No. It can’t be,” he thought to himself.
There’s a good reason McCusker couldn’t believe his eyes. There has never been a documented bald eagle pair – nesting in Toronto — until now.
“Total miracle… being here for twenty years, you just don’t see eagles and I come from a place where you see eagles, from out west, so we see eagles all the time and I just remember hanging out in ceremony with some people and saying like, why don’t you ever see eagles here,” said McCusker.
It was only a short while ago that UofT made signs (like many universities have) about 'prohibiting' tents on campus -and they went so far as to lock grounds for 'convocation' ceremonies -so seeing this resistance brings happiness to my soul.
