yall I just had to read and see more “Gale is the token straight” “I can’t see Gale as anything but straight” type of posts and I am BEGGING this fandom and Gale fans in particular to DO BETTER and even if you romance him as a female character to SPEAK UP and AGAINST this type of bi/panphobic bullshit, because why is this still happening? i love rambling and getting out my thoughts on my silly little blog so here we go

i LOVE underverse and it's interpretation of ink and error; genuinely an interesting possible dynamic between the two!!

however, i think people forget underverse is an alternate MULTIVERSE, not just an AU (Xtale).

i see people all the time misinterpret canon error and ink as hating each other, being enemies, ink being an edgy emotionless POS, and error being angry and grumpy all the time. but... that's a fanon interpretation of the two?? again, i genuinely love and enjoy underverse ink and error, but people forget that they are NOT the same as canon ink and error!!

(plus underverse ink and error are more complex than the fandom potrays them anyway. jael i love you frfr)

ink and error canonly do not know each other, and im pretty sure their creators said they'd be friends, actually, if they DID ever meet. crayonqueen has literally drawn them being friendly towards each other??

yet people will sit on a high horse and bash on people who enjoy any possible dynamic between the two that isn't just "wow ur the opposite of me so i hate you!! lets fucking fight stupid bitch!!!!" like oh my stars. oh my goodness. that isn't their canon either. they HAVE no canon dynamic, because they have canonically never MET 😭🙏

anyway yea if you do this, please stop. it's annoying! i cannot stress this enough; the enemies dynamic is FANON and you are not special for bashing on people who enjoy them having a different relationship !

plus they're just silly skeletons. the ship isn't even problematic, because what their relationship is like is completely up to your personal preference. it isn't that serious. you will not die if you see art of them clanking teeth.... i promise...

Okay but I need to know what the people who have only watched c3 think about Beau and Caleb because I've been rotating them in my head for three years too long to be objective anymore but like. Getting to see them through the eyes of a new party just reminded me that even though so much of our delight in C2 was focused around the constant indignity of the Nein, they are objectively a flickering metronome between "how the fuck are these people alive" and "this is the most hyper competent group of mercenaries I've ever seen" and I just. Do they know. Do they know that Beau is so fucking cool. Are there people who learned these two npcs have a whole campaign and want to learn more about them. I look at these two and see a montage of tiefling dicks and red eyes and promising to kill the other if something goes wrong. I see Caleb smearing mud and bat shit on Beau's face and Beau just resigned even as she makes the most aggrieved and annoyed sounds, Beau hauling Caleb's dissociated ass over her own skinny shoulder and walking him to safety. I look at them and see 500 hours and more of the empire siblings. The weeks and months they spent going from hating the parts of themselves they saw in each other to loving in the other what they still struggled with in themselves. I see chosen siblings, best friends. What do other people see?

tired: caine x pomni, in the sense that caine is trying to keep her there forever with his own malicious intentions (and pomni has given up entirely, probably on the verge of abstracting if caine will even LET her), or pomni is using the relation in order to escape . very bad. very ooc. what is wrong with you

wired: caine x pomni: in the sense that they both understand that they cannot be together forever and that's ok. they still love eachother so so SO much nothing can change that and are ACTIVELY working to help pomni escape in a way that she can bring caine with her.

sometimes they find themselves thinking "i want to be with you forever", then pausing and going "...when exactly is 'forever', really?". sometimes one panics over the idea of being abandoned and going back to square one all over again, or one of them abstracting, or some horrible event that will separate the two. but they understand that the shitty situation exists and is stopping them from anything further, and they're trying to fix it as best as they can. and even if they do part one day (in the case that caine is unable to, somehow, come to the physical world), who cares? they'll have one another in their hearts, holding their memory close for as long as they live

then again it's 8 in the morning, im half-asleep, and have no idea what im doing

I'm sorry I haven't been super active lately. I'm just kind of in this weird mental state right now, kind of like floating in the void pretty much

Nothing bad, it just feels like I'm kind of... there. Plus I'm busy with other stuff at the moment and I don't really have a whole lot of motivation to draw or write things (for selfship stuff, I'm also working on my personal project, but even that's kind of "eh-feeling" right now)

I'll answer asks when I'm able to, and I'll have stim stuff queued up, but I won't have the energy or motivation to reblog that much (if I like your art work during this time, that means I'm telling you, "I have this saved to my drafts and I will reblog it with tags when I get the energy to")

So, no art or writing for a little while

But I will be reopening commissions on October 1st, so those may be the only art I do until maybe (hopefully) before Vanilla's (non-canon) birthday, which is October 15th

But yeah, I just have low motivation and low emotions right now (just overall kind of numb, no bad or painful feelings, just numbness and apathy) and I'm just trying to wait it out like usual.

So I may disappear for days at a time, or it'll only be queued up stim gifs, or I may not answer things right away or enthusiastically. It'll pass, but I just wanted to let you all know 🫂

Just know that I do care and I do enjoy getting messages/asks/and being tagged in stuff, even if it may seem like I'm ignoring you.

Why do you think s4 lmk is sometimes seen as a drop-off in writing quality compared to earlier seasons?

IS IT REALLY. That's so funny, I personally think s4 elevated lmk's writing to unbelievably high levels. It recontextualized previous seasons in ways that cemented my faith in lmk's writing team, and proved to me that this wasn't just going to be good, it was going to be GREAT, an honest to god masterpiece.

I find that the more complex the writing, when things like love and devotion aren't put into "good" or "bad" boxes, when characters are hypocrites and things develop in a way people don't like (it doesn't make them "feel good" but the writing itself is solid), that's when people start to say things like "the writing's gotten worse". I've seen plenty of takes for characters like Wukong and Viren (from The Dragon Prince), where folks want to boil down the mess and the complexity into "the writers don't know how to write this character," when the truth is the opposite. Sometimes, characters say one thing and do another and that's on purpose, thank you. Sometimes, characters mean well and have good intentions, but they still suck. Writing like that is fucking awesome.

It's not really a surprise to me that something like The Owl House, where the characters are fairly one note and everything is said out loud and the themes are much more simplistic, is/was far more popular. Obviously, I don't want to shame anyone or make people feel bad for loving toh—like it's great if you love it, keep doing that—but I do think that objectively, toh has pretty weak writing (which honestly doesn't/doesn't have to determine how much you love it).

I was discussing this with a few friends last night, how with toh, the implications are hardly thought through, and characters aren't viewed beyond the role they can serve in the episode or the arc. Like, I think of the beginning of Hollow Mind, where King says "No one wants to believe they've spent their life following the wrong person", which is fine, it's something that could be interesting given the proper execution, but when you analyze it deeper, try to find the consistent character thread...it doesn't make any actual sense for King or the development he went through at the beginning of s2. Had he said something along the lines of "No one wants to believe they've spent their life following a lie", now THAT ties directly into the lie he believed for his whole life, and to King as a character. But that's not what happened, and that's never what happened in toh.

Even with Belos, the main villain, it's clear the writers wanted Grim Walker angst for Hunter, but they didn't want to explore the implications of Belos recreating his brother over and over again. So at that point, it's like...why not just have Hunter be adopted? Why have him be a grimmwalker at all if it's not something we're going to explore deeper on Belos' end?

Needless to say, lmk isn't like that. If a character has dialogue or a scene, it's going to contribute to our perception of them and their internal motivations. If Pigsy is worried about his relation to his ancestors in s4, and what that says about him, we can actually trace that back to 2x04: tradition matters to Pigsy, and it's a huge part of his heart, identity, and life. Of COURSE Pigsy is affected when he learns his ancestor was someone he doesn't like, someone who tried to eat the love of his life. He even tries to comfort MK with what he thinks is a shared experience, and it's AGH. It's so good

If something is established in lmk, it's expanded upon. Hell, even the Mayor of all characters was given his own spotlight outside of LBD. He even has a direct parallel to Azure—following and giving service to an Emperor before becoming disillusioned and changing loyalty to the person that will bring about real change: their Lady and their King.
