Oooh what a fun question! I’m sure as soon as I hit post I’ll remember a bunch more but here’s what I was able to come up with~

Robin: I actually like head-canoning Robin as having ADHD. I could ramble about that for ages tbh but I think they fit the “twice exceptional” profile really well and that a combination of being an anxious perfectionist and having an attention disorder would make a lot of sense given that we know Robin is both very confident in their tactics and intelligence but also prone to workaholic tendencies with pushing themselves to extremes to make sure they’ve thought of everything. I also headcanon Robin as being kind of a slob LOL like I think their room would always be a mess with things strewn everywhere but *they* know where everything is meant to be so don’t even think about moving anything, Frederick >:(

Also this may be obvious from my writing, but I like headcanoning Robin as having darker skin than in canon in large part to circumvent Awakening’s unfortunate tendency to only feature that trait for Plegians who are antagonists. OH! And I love the idea of Robin being touch-starved when the shepherds first find and adopt her too.

Chrom: I headcanon he has very pretty cursive handwriting that he was forced to learn by his tutors growing up; that he low-key kinda likes PDA; that he’s mindlessly touchy with Robin specifically, even before he realizes his feelings; that he has a praise kink; that he is a morning person; and that he’s not particularly religious, despite being….ya know, the exalt of a halidom.

Idk if it’s cheating to also list that I headcanon him as biromantic demisexual (given that I have a whole fic about that) but I’m restating it anyway because that one is very dear to me. Also! I did not come up with this one myself, but I saw a tweet from another Chrobin author once about how they hc that Chrom would abdicate the throne before he gets particularly old to help ensure that Lucina’s coronation is a happy and celebratory event, and I love that idea and thinks it suits both of them really well <3

I think the one you shared is cute and fitting for them too! Both of them take their jobs really seriously so I can absolutely see them making an effort to keep too many court politics out of their work but then debriefing about stuff and laughing at all the stuffy nobles together after to help maintain their sanity.

As for things brought up / widely accepted in the fandom that I dislike and / or strongly disagree with, the three that come most immediately to mind are:

- That Chrom and Robin have a dumb one / smart one dynamic. I think they’re both very competent leaders and that while Robin is clearly the smarter of the two, I’ve always interpreted Chrom as probably having above average intelligence and just being really blunt and kind of oblivious / not tactful in certain delicate social situations which….tbh I fully believe Robin can be guilty of that sort of thing as well LOL

- That the f!Chrobin supports are “objectively” some of the worst in the game”. I can definitely understand and sympathize with some of the complaints about them, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re my favorite supports in awakening full stop. And I do also think that a subset of the complaints leveled at them are wildly off base

- That male and female Robin have different personalities. I just do not think this is true. I think the differences we see in their supports are pretty much always a direct function of being treated differently by the other character on account of their gender and responding to those differing circumstances accordingly

I have started drafting and ultimately aborted so many posts making arguments for all these points but somewhere along the line I usually remind myself to take a deep breath and that people can enjoy these characters and ships however they want to. Ultimately if I don’t like something, it’s easy enough for me to tune it out and keep doing my own thing and I’ve found fandom has become a lot more pleasant that way LOL

Ok, I have a sad theory about Alex Turner's relationships with his women and his music, that is, I hope, not 100% true. And I do want to share it with you!

The concept is that Alex takes only inspiration from his girlfriends for the new albums, write lyrics about them, but not really love them. And the only person whom he is in love with is Miles Kane.

Before we start I'd like to say that I don't wanna blame or offend anyone. I personally do not know any of the people described below and I can be wrong about them. I respect everything they do, and in fact I sympathize with absolutely every character. All the thoughts described below came to my mind only during a small investigation of some Alex's texts, which hooked me with their references even though sometimes they are not obvious.

Sooo, let's begin with Johanna Bennett. They were dating in 2005-2007, Alex was 19, for sure just a kid. The development of Arctic Monkeys has just begun, first album, first fame and fans confession. In fact, there is little information about them on the Internet, and the only thing I found was what he recorded with her "Fluorescent Adolescent". I can't say anything about specifically her influence on the first albums, because the press did not really catch their relationship. Then let's slowly move on to the favorite of most fans Alexa Chung.

In a word, she fit well into the concept of AM. They also looked cute with him, drinking together in bars and wearing damn cool Halloween costumes. And, more importantly, she got along with the rest of the members, as did Alexa, by the way!

Several months passes and Alex is in a relationships again - this time with a model Taylor Bagley, the most chaotic and crazy one (in a good way). After stunning success of AM Monkeys are taking a hiatus, and Alex starts having fun with Miles. We come to the intriguing part. During their relationship with Taylor, they are recording a new album with TLSP, which, in addition to the sound of vintage soul with strings, is also very romantic and poignant. What they did with Miles on stage is another story, but we'll get to that later. So, he and Taylor got paired tattoos with their names, he literally wrote at least "Sweet Dreams, TN" about her (Although being born in Oklahoma, she states in interviews that she considers herself a Nashville, Tennessee, native and she has a piercing in her nose), by the way, she also made a tattoo with the name of this song. Together with Miles they hang out at her house with a pool and dog; she is in "Bad Habits" clip, and in general they are real safely threesome. They are crazy, drunk and happily doing some odd things, like the 2nd TLSP album.

And finally we are coming to the most provocative part. Louise Verneuil. I will not say whether he cheated on Bagley with her or not, but the time between the breakup and the new relationship was negligible. Rumors say that Louise was almost in his dressing room backstage while he was still in a relationship with Taylor. So, so far, their relationship with the French singer is the longest he's ever had (2018-till now). Visually, I am insanely impressed with how they look together, they complement each other incredibly, if only because Louise is finally lower than him ahahaha. She is petite and flirtatious, infused with the spirit of the 70s and Jane Birkin. Look at her clips (Love Corail, Desert and etc.), and then at the Car....

Yes, he produced some videos for her, so maybe they are similar. But his style of Alain Delon, the image of the horny teacher of geography from the 70s, scarves at concerts and so on - all this gives off the atmosphere of Louise. For example, a There'd Better Be a Mirrorball clip, in which, by the way, there is Louise as well.

Let's sum up a little. 1) Since 2005 Alex cannot be without a relationship for more than 4-5 months, which is not normal obviously. He seems to be afraid of being alone, thinking that he will not find inspiration for a new album, or, in principle, he has a fear of loneliness. 2) Vibes of all his albums are a reflection of his girls. Next to them he changes also. 3) Remember the evolution of his images, in addition to age and interests, the style of girls also influences him. With Alexa, it’s simple T-shirts and old jeans, while she is in plain dresses and shorts with knee socks; with Arielle he is in tight pants and leather jackets, and she is in extravagant coats and heels; with Taylor he is in colorful suits and flared pants, and she is in very short tops with pink hair; with Louise he is in corduroy jackets and white shirts, whilst she in vintage jeans and flowing blouses - boom, all matches! 4) Obviously he has a type of girls with a square face, blond hair and bangs. The only one who deviated much from this type was Taylor. 5) I have not seen him hugging, laughing and kissing someone the way Miles Kane does, next to whom he literally glows, not afraid to show himself, not afraid to be real, foolish, but really himself.

Perhaps happiness loves silence and Alex, as a not very public person, keeps all the feelings between him and his woman, but he is too open next to Miles, not afraid to show his feelings in public, which raises some doubts.

ONE OF MY TOP 5 FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME EVER. yes yes yes yes yes OK. so this is. all encompassing crossover jrwi au which means I'm pulling characters from different campaigns. which. usually im not a huge fan of but i think i pulled it off rlly well in a limited sense here bc i have very specific reasoning behind why i put each character where. u will know at least two of them and they WILL cause you psychic damage so trust me when i say the other ones will too. putting this under a cut bc im gonna ramble

BASICALLYYYYY it's gonna follow the plot of the movie pretty closely just with slightly altered character dynamics + each of their reasons for going into the shimmer. so each person on the Current Team has lost someone on a previous expedition, and basically all of them are trying to find answers for what happened to their loved ones.

im gonna talk mainly about the ones you know because youll understand where I'm coming from the best with them but just know I am OBSESSED w the roles I have put gillion and chip in here. god I miss riptide every day .

DAKOTA COLE AS ANYA. Anya is the retired paramedic !! she's the one that. hold everything. gets killed by the fucked up bear. smile. that was just a fun little coincidence for me . ORIGINALLY I was dead set on having the pd representative be william bc im biased and I love him but after rewatching the movie I just think dakota fits in anyas place so perfectly. she's the most outgoing of the group, she's the one that initially invites Lena to join their team (also side note there is a pre-existing dynamic between dakota and chip because they've had MULTIPLE interactions in various what if crossover episodes and their dynamic is one of my favorite things ever). she's also the most aggressive. she's the first one to snap into action mode after finding the body in the pool, she's the one to take josie away from it and has a very protective stance over josie for the rest of the time after that (this is going to be relevant i am gonna talk about josie next) . once the group starts arguing about whether they want to continue further into the shimmer, anya shifts into a VERY black and white mentality, pinning ventress as The Bad Guy immediately for wanting to continue. and then when Lena shows some hesitancy over what she wants to do, anya snaps into a "youre either with me or against me" mindset. she also has this growing sense of paranoia ever since they find the tape of what appears to be the previous crew killing each other, and after she learns Lena is lying to them about her connection with Kane she goes way overboard with tying them to chairs and threatening to kill them. while i don't think dakota would necessarily go that far I DID say this to jonesy when we were rewatching the movie together so. bfu connecting two dots meme

anyway i think dakota is in the shimmer looking for william AND vyncent. parallels to the "dakota leaves for 10 months without telling them" which is why the three of them would be separated in the first place. william somehow finds out about the southern reach and his draw toward a mystery is what causes him to join the first expedition. vyncent goes with him because he can sense it's dangerous (and basically a suicide mission) and doesn't want william to go alone. I have. ideas. for what happens to them in the shimmer but they are vague at best right now and even then. dakota never finds out what happens to them before he's killed by the bear. the bear uses their voices to draw him out btw. smile. he dies protecting thr rest of the group even immediately after his paranoid breakdown.

SHILO AS JOSIE. ohhhhh josie radek one of my favorite characters in media of all time. God I love her so much. anyway she's the only one of the current expedition with no previous combat training, so she's often seen by the rest of them as someone who needs to be protected. if I'm remembering correctly she's also the youngest. (in this. au. dakota would be older than shilo. feels better in my mind. none of them would be Kids they'd all be adults at this point but I'd put shilo in early 20s and dakota maybe in mid 20s. so . still young.) shilo is in the shimmer looking for his twin brother who went missing. somehow he was able to track down the southern reach and find out emizel was part of a previous expedition, and desperately wants to get him back. he's the one with the LEAST amount of knowledge going into the shimmer. he doesn't realize it's a suicide mission. he just wants his brother back. anyway when they get to the first outpost they find the remnants of the first team's base of operations, with names on a guard patrol rotation and leftover weapons and. a video camera. with a tape in a plastic bag labeled "for those who follow". josie is the one holding the camera when they watch it. the tape shows members of the previous party in the abandoned pool, one guy tied to a chair while the others cut open his abdomen to show his intestines moving around like snakes or worms. in the movie, the guy who cuts him open is Kane, Lena's husband. the rest of the party doesn't know her connection to kane, and she knows now if she tells them they won't trust her (and is proven correct by this when anya eventually finds out her connection) ANYWAY I'm going off track. sorry this is my favorite scene in the whole movie I get distracted. ANYWAY so when they see this, josie is the most immediately horrified by it because she's the only one who hasn't seen anything as gruesome as that before. for shilo. well. he gets to see the one being cut open is emizel. and then later when they get to the pool and find the body still there (again. josie is the one to find this. she's also the one who reaches down into the old dirty water and accidentally picks up the knife. which was still left in the same place they saw it be dropped in the tape) corpse plastered to the wall by all kinds of multicolored fungus and lichen, I think shilo doesn't immediately break down, he doesn't really. process it right away. I mean it's completely unrecognizable. it's not until he accidentally picks up the knife that it all clicks into place in his mind and he realizes "that thing right there used to be my fucking brother" and completely shuts down. runs out of the complex, dakota has to chase him down because they all know its dangerous to go anywhere alone, etc. after this he loses any sense of purpose, the only reason he came into the shimmer in the first place was to get emizel back and now seeing what happened I think he just gets. hopeless. which is the beginning of the end for him . i haven't decided if his exact death is the same as josies but i want it to be peaceful in the same sort of way. I have been trying to think about Luxu and how exactly he fits and what his motivations are. Because it’s important 2 ME that he parallels Ven’s role in the story in a foilish way. Also it’s integral to the rest of the story so not having it figured out is somewhat of a roadblock. Ven’s almost completely passive, things happen to him and he takes a long time to be confident enough to try to do something for himself because every time he does that it goes badly. Luxu is so active that every time something goes wrong he has to know why. He has to have his fingers in every puzzle even when what he’s supposed to do is wait. Ven doesn’t want to be Unity’s liaison at all and Luxu wants to be him so bad it makes him look stupid. So I think that like. The timeline of such events. Goes

Nightmare waited near the fireplace, reading his newest mystery novel. Killer took Ribbon out shopping in Crystaltale. Unlike their usual supply runs, this one was only for fun. Killer wanted a new jacket, Ribbon wanted to go along for fun. She's been so well-behaved that Nightmare thought it would be okay. He gave them the malice to teleport and they left.

Nightmare sensed two auras enter the room, both excited. Killer came in first. He wore a new black jean jacket, torn up at the sleeves. It was the same color as his empty eye sockets. He grinned at Nightmare. "Hey, boss! We're back! Ribbon had a great time and I swear we didn't get into any trouble. We got a plushie for him."

"Good, good." Nightmare flipped the page of his book. "Bring him to me."

Killer made a hand gesture and pointed at Nightmare. Then he left to to to his room. Ribbon entered his sight and they made eye contact. The doll started wearing darker dresses instead of the pastel colors. Ribbon carried a strange plush toy in her arms Nightmare couldn't identify.

"Nighty! Killer and I found a Sanrio shop at the mall and there was this bin of plushies. There were a lot of them, but I chose my favorite! Her name is Kuromi!" Ribbon held out the stuffed animal with a smile.

Nightmare took the plushie in his tendrils and looked it over. He couldn't tell what type of creature it was, perhaps a bunny or a kitty, but it wore a devil hood and tail. "It's . . . charming."

"I know! Its going to be perfect in my room!" Ribbon paused for a moment and looked away. "Night, I know you weren't really happy about me changing up my room but . . . can I keep it that way? Please? I have some more ideas for it! I can put some moon lights in the room and still add pink things! I just like it darker, I match with you so much better!"

Nightmare sighed, tight with frustration. "We've talked about this, my little doll. That's not who I want you to be."

"Please?" Ribbon gave Nightmare her best puppy-dog eyes with a little whimper, also like a small puppy. Nightmare narrowed his eye, but he couldn't resist Ribbon's hopeful stare. He hated to admit it, but she was adorable. That meant her training was working well.

"Fine, you've convinced me. However, I will design your room and all design choices must go through me first." Nightmare took Ribbons hand and pulled her close. He adjusted the black frilly headband on her head. He stood up, staring at the small plush again. "Come on, let's go fix it."

Nightmare stood up and walked with Ribbon down to her room. The walls were still black, but now a proper coating instead of frantic strokes. The pinks were exchanged for soft muted lilacs. Nightmare changed none of the main pieces of furniture, only the decorations. Pink bows were exchanged for black and lilac, but it remained just as adorable. Ribbon wanted to learn how to dye the plushies she stole from other AUs to make them fit. Nightmare wondered what it would be like if Dream saw her now. He would call Nightmare a horrible influence and try and coax Ink out. Good luck with that.

He still wanted Ribbon to appear innocent, so he required her to repaint the baby animal art on the walls. Ribbon painted two silver fox cubs cuddled by a larger fox. Then she covered the rest of the wall with stars and moons. It reminded the Lord of Negativity of the real galaxy, almost.

Once it was all done, Nightmare set his hand on Ribbon's shoulder and stepped back to reveal the darker bedroom. "Well, does this make you happier?"

Ribbon nodded. "It does! It's a lot better! Wait." Ribbon walked over to his shelf and took off Kuromi. She lay the plush under her blankets instead, giving it one last kiss. "There. Now it's perfect."

Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls- Season 2, Episode 22 (Last Episode of the Season). "I Can't Get Started" Part 4

You ever watch a Stars Hollow crowd scene on Gilmore Girls and go, who the hell are all these people and where did they come from?

This is so ridiculously corny and cute. This is what we live for. This is what Gilly Girls is all about. You ever see some of the spicy tight and low cut blouses Lane wears on this show and wonder how Mrs Kim ever allowed her out of the house? I'm asking the important questions today.

R: I'm about to cheat on your ass so hard your head will spin. I am gonna kiss my stepcousin so hard.

D: (pointing to Miss Patty, Babette, and the Stars Hollowans gathered around the piano) How many cocktails caused that? R: None, but when they start drinking we're going to have to hide you. Dear listener, I turned on my car radio for about five hours on a long drive this week and found myself suffering and appalled through the advert-heavy and song-lite nature of it all. Seriously, this is what passes for radio programming these days? The ninety-nine and one-half trillionth T-Swift breakup ballad? Pop-country tunes that manage to all sound the EXACT same as the previous pop-country tune?? Radio rock stations featuring tunes with less balls than a castrati troupe!? Modern hip-hop/rap music that all sounds roughly equivalent to setting up a lawncare sprinkler system in my car only without the water!!? Nine-to-ten agonizing commercials in a row before you get to the commercial-free hour, only to be then reminded between each individual song that it’s the commercial free music hour!!??!?!!?? I flipped from station to station hoping for some form of alleviation, for SOME hope that music is still alive and well on the radio in 2023. Y’know what I found out? The absolute BEST music programming on modern radio is based on tunes created around two to three centuries ago. That’s right folks! The best radio station I came across was a classical one. The classical radio deejay was informative, his voice was soft and pleasant, there were minimal commercials and the musical interludes lasted forty-five minutes at a stretch until the next commercial break. Inspired by this, until the end of 2023, I’ll be posting 3 classical tune sets (Bach, Vivaldi, and Brahms) starting with my personal favorite German musician of all-time, Johann Sebastian Bach.

Generally regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western culture, this man was truly fit for the title ‘Master of Composition’. Starting off as a mega-talented organ player and violinist, Bach had a distinct flair for blending widely varying instruments and regional musical styles, regularly synthesizing multifarious sound techniques to make a noise ain’t nobody on Earth had heard before. Having been employed by local churches early on, Bach began composing his own ‘sacred music’ (see also ‘church music’) and being something of a musical jack-of-all-trades engaged in his own ‘non-secular’ works which did not jive with very simply defined and rigid church traditions. Having a penchant for engineering complex and experimental arrangements, Bach developed a special talent for weaving melodic lines and immensely complex interdependent harmonies together to provide compositional structures that were simply second to NONE in the early 1700’s and even up to this very day. His concertos for orchestras, sonatas, suites, cantatas, keyboard works, choral works and organ works really are the stuff of legend which is why they are hailed up to the current day! I could go on endlessly about his accolades, but instead I’ll just leave you with the following final thought. Some of Bach’s individual works are like observing an incredibly detailed drawing or painting, except with audio. If you concentrate enough on a single piece, you’ll very clearly hear the overlapping elements, the solid lines accompanied by the abstract rudiments floating softly in the background and be moved emotionally by the very physics of the harmonic motions. It’s not just the melodic nature of the man’s tunes, but also the harmony that accompanies them. And for that reason, he has more than earned his placed in the annals of human history as one, if not the greatest composer, and my personal favorite classical composer of all time. How can I start to explain my thoughts on Youth? First, Beginning was a perfect start and Dallas Love Filled was the best choice to close the album. The way the songs are placed is exceptional. I agree with the other anon, although Time Machine is a good song, I expect the two of them to have a more “explosive” duet in terms of singing, but sometimes less is more and having Mark in it could have been a decisive factor. For the ballads, Rewind takes the crowd in my opinion, Warmth is probably the least memorable song in the album but still it blends with the other songs and permits DY shine with his technique. The last three songs are so good individually but together, one after another in order works the best. From Little Wave is the best song in the album and knowing the context of its creation makes it ten times better.

All the songs are so Doyoung that you can feel how much he was involved in the process. (As expected for our management Kim). To help with that idea, he gave us the documentary which I really appreciate. Almost all the content he gave us was just him singing and being happy because of it.

I said it in the past that I believe that NCT songs sometimes vocally limit DY and not because of their structure, it’s more about how the producers prefer his tone and that leads DY to believe that singing in a soft or really high tone suits him more which it’s not the case at all. With this album it’s obvious how more comfortable DY is in his range and the progression and effort he puts in his voice. I always listen the album from the first song to the last one and years had passed without me being able to do that.

With Jaehyun it’s really different. As someone who loves R&B and listens to lots of artists in the genre, I was sure it will be my favorite but to my surprise it wasn’t. I should’ve known what kind of route he would take considering the type of artist he recommends/collabs. So that was my mistake. My problem with the album is that it has really good songs like Roses (the most interesting in my opinion and the best) and Can’t get you, but there are songs like Smoke or Easy which doesn’t work for me really well. I can find myself humming to Easy or Completely but I never really played them beside the first day. With Smoke and Flaming Hot Lemon it’s complicated, I hate smoke chorus but it’s catchy. Flaming hot lemon and Roses are totally North America R&B songs but Roses have some interesting vocal parts and Flaming Hot Lemon it’s just plain (it doesn’t take away the fact I listened to it more often that Can’t get you). I can’t say it better than you, it’s a mixtape not an album, it doesn’t feel cohesive. I would’ve preferred to heard more complexity in Jaehyun’s voice but the selection of songs doesn’t have the room to it.

I’ve been feeling for a long time that Jaehyun is stuck and comfortable (in a bad way) in the place he is now with his voice, and again I don’t think it’s just his fault. Maybe I need to make peace with the reality that he really doesn’t want to expand his vocal abilities.

In terms of the promotion I can’t say too much because I didn’t see almost any of the content beside the ones where he was singing.

Doyoung chose songs that were related to the season and the topic, perhaps a vocally stronger duet with Taeyeon didn't fit. It's a popular song with kfans though.

I think even the way Do sings on his solo album is still affected by the constraints of being an idol. He asked his manager and A&R staff whether they preferred a lower or higher key for a song. And all told him that higher sounds better (he disagreed). And he still applied a stylistic colour to his voice, I think?

I see many Jae's fans liking FHL, perhaps the reason lays in the way it is primitive (unassuming, undemanding of real empathy/attention) with stupid but easy to remember lyrics (and understandable for beginner level English speakers as well). I really wonder how much the overstimulation with information online tires the mind and makes people avoid complexity. Take ILLIT's debut song "Magnetic". It's basically a jingle for a game machine. And yet, it really became a hit. Payola or not. (407k streams on Spotify alone)

Sadly, few care about an album being a cohesive entity. Everyone just releases a bunch of songs, believing people will just buy or listen to selected songs separately.

I often hear fans discussing the notion that Jaehyun is comfortable with his range and isn't interested in developing. However, music producers praised him for his knowledge of musical terms and techniques during recordings. Maybe he does take vocal lessons but polishes what he has now withouth extending his range? For sure Jae became much more confident in singing the past few years. And he sings live better than before as well.

that’s really reassuring advice and it actually helped me write a few paragraphs as of today. From the outside looking in that’s crazy to me that you thought second best wasn’t that good but just like you said everyone’s gonna be critical when it comes to their own work. (Just would like to once again say your writing is captivating and it’s an example of how I’d like to write someday✨)

Is there any particular locations in Brazil that you’d recommend to sometime going for the first time? It’s on my bucket list and I’ve been interested in learning a new language (either Portuguese, Tagalog or German) because I actually wanna move out of the country, I reside in one of the most expensive places in California and the cost of living nowadays is insane.

I don’t know any of the rules when it comes to just about any sport but I love watching them because they’re so intense 🤯. I was wondering if you could possibly recommend any Portuguese artists that you enjoy listening to? I love music and listen to just about everything except for screamo and regularly go to concerts, last person I went to go see was Deorro in San Francisco 🥹.

About the locations, I could spend a whole day talking about it. Brazil is a BIG BIG country with tons of different local cultures and it all depends on what you like to do most when you're traveling. I'll try to make some suggestions though.

If you like the beach: Brazil has a lot of littorals so you could find a good beach in almost all of our states. There's Rio de Janeiro, if you like places with vivid nature and historical national landmarks (the Christ, national parks, the bond of Pão de Açúcar mountain). There's also smaller states with killer beaches and a calmer vibe like Florianopolis, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte (although I would recommend João Pessoa City in Paraíba and Pipa or São Miguel do Gostoso in Rio Grande do Norte)

If you like historical places: We also have a lot of those but my favorite gotta be Minas Gerais. Cities like Tiradentes and Ouro Preto are very pretty, full of history and great great cuisine. Also, there are places like Gramado City in Rio Grande do Sul that are big on germanlike architecture and have a great christmas and new years celebration.

If you're more into big cities, São Paulo is gonna be ideal. (Also sorry i got carried away)

About Brazilian artists, some of my favorites are Jão, Bruno Gadiol, Day Linns, Tinn, NX Zero and Ludmilla (Who's playing in Coachella this year). However, if you wanna have the true brazilian experience you gotta listen to Seu Jorge, Maria Bethania, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Belchior and Ney Matogrosso. (And this is only MPB/Bossa Nova, don't get me started on Samba and Pagode)

See Jazz, the recording project of Brooklyn-based songwriter Aaron Pfannebecker, uses drum machines and synthesizers to construct warped bedroom collage pop guitars and earworm vocals. I’ve always loved this song and I recently rediscovered it on a dive into Lauper’s music again and it always puts me in a great mood. It just makes me happy like a lot of Motown does especially The Jackson 5. It bops.

The The — This Is the Day

This is a top 3 song of the 1980s and probably was the biggest influence on this record I just made whether I knew it or not. I could listen to this on repeat forever and never give sick of it.

The Osmonds — Denim

No one’s written a better song about a decade.

Minnie Ripperton — Les Fleurs

One of my favorite songs. It has the biggest chorus that hits like 20 “Smells Like Teen Spirit’s.“ It’s epic. It’s holy. Minnie Ripperton’s voice is one the most beautiful I’ve ever heard. Maya Rudolph is her daughter and Ripperton died way too young.

Jeff the Brotherhood — Camel Swallowed Whole

Jake and Jamin have always made great music, but this is by far my favorite thing they’ve ever done. It’s great. Everyone should hear it. Kunal Prakash also plays on this I think, and you couldn’t ask for more awesome people to be making great art together.

Bob Dylan — Precious Angel (Live at the Warfield Theatre)

One of the things I think we all take for credit is Bob Dylan’s ability to always evolve and change a song. People use to slam him for not being able to recognize classic songs they wanted to hear because he plays them entirely differently than their record versions. I think people are coming around now and we all should. Its’s rare and it’s brave and no one owes anyone anything especially in art. This take isn’t too different than the recorded version except for one thing. It’s got 100x more soul.

New Order — Regret

This is probably my favorite song by New Order. Although that could change. It’s got everything I love about them. Incredible drums over great drum programming. Peter Hook’s the best melodic bass player from the UK. He shines here. The tones of the keyboards fit perfectly and Bernard Sumner’s guitar is perfect. His direct lyrics are perfect.

Haruomi Hosono — Sports Men

Philharmony is a record I keep coming back to. It’s dense and still open and very much a vision of one person. YMO is great but this one hits me harder and “Sports Men” is the poppiest song on the record. It’s straight ahead in an unusual way or unusual in a straightforward way. Whatever you want it to be, it is.

Discovery Zone — Dance II

This is the last new song I’ve heard that’s still my favorite new song I’ve heard. It’s been a couple years and it’s still my favorite new song. It’s the perfect pop song. Discovery Zone is the recording project of JJ Weihl. She’s brilliant.

R.L. Burnside — Let My Baby Ride

This is a great genre collision. 1 + 1 = 3. It’s still new and it’s evolution. It’s got a very early Beck feel. I love everything about it.

Michail Savitskiy's a good guest - he was good commentating at Nebelhorn last season, has positive, enthusiastic energy and a way of saying what he thinks while being gracious and respectful. had some interesting thoughts on the competition, which he saw live--

that T/V float almost soundlessly - fascinated by how he couldn't hear their blades except in the twizzles, that he doesn't know how they skate so silently. one of his favorite FDs this season- love the delicacy, the softness in their skating- emphasizes their strengths and hides their weaknesses a little bit too. something in the RD isn't quite working though "they're obviously really really good skaters"

he trained with R/A in Oberstdorf and is really good friends with them. loves their RD, thinks it's really them, that they deserved bronze

D/LeM - "last year i thought they were good, they were polished, they were delivering very good stability in their programs, but this year they really have that step up, they really improved over the summer and are on a very good road"

loves L/LeG's FD - so fun and entertaining, "all of the elements are so in character, especially that last dance lift where he just drops his hands and she's just holding on on one hand and you think she's floating in the air. it's so good. their choreography and all the elements fit together so well, and i just wanted to appreciate them"

saw G/F for the first time at Lombardia and was watching for their samba in the RD but that it's so well integrated he couldn't tell where it was. as a choreo element it has to be implemented well into the choreography and that G/F do that the best this year. he doesn't think the RD otherwise is the most interesting, that the Brits's RD is more interesting but "my point stands, i think they're (G/F) a little more clean a little more polished" and that he thinks they should have won. but that F/G have improved more than any top team since last season and he likes that they're doing something different, refreshing.

G/F have "always had interesting lifts- our coach used to show us their lifts all the time and was like look at their lifts and maybe you can take something from there, maybe you can do your own spin on it. i feel like in the past few seasons, when it comes to lifts couples usually tend to take easier lifts and just polish them to an extent where it just looks very very easy and judges are rewarding that really really much. you tend to see way more lifts that are a little bit easier today than let's say for example Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. they were known for their complex new lifts, and i feel like that trend kind of died off. people tend to take easier lifts and polish them to an extent to where they look very very light, very easy, and judges are rewarding that. and i think Charlene and Marco choosing more difficult lifts is a very good thing. this year i feel they're a little bit better on the lifts, they execute them better"

on the FD - "because usually the top couples tend to take slower music to show off their skating skills, their great body lines, how parallel they are, and the Brits take a completely different approach, and i really appreciate that as well" (he said this with zero shade, but🙃) "cause it shows you can take a different route, still be one of the best couples in the world, but i still feel like the Italians are a little more polished. i'm not a judge, maybe i see something they don't see, or they see something i don't see, i don't know, but i feel like they are very close to each other- it's not like the Italians are 10 points better than the Brits, i'm not saying that. i'm saying they are a little higher for me, personally, and i think they should have taken the gold in my opinion, but Lilah and Lewis also deserved the gold" (it's a balancing act😅he's competing at the JGPF next week)

First I wanted to say, Congratulations on this milestone that you received. It just shows how many hearts you’ve touched across the world with your writing and personality! I’m always happy to read your stories, and of course the angsty ones are my absolute favorite, your writing is very addicting. I hope you know that I appreciate all the effort you put into your stories, and behind the scenes takes on the characters. 

It never ceases to amaze me, with the amount of talent and passion you have when you write your stories. For someone who's written over 200k words this year, I fear I can't find the right ones to fully respond to all your kindness except thank you, I appreciate you, and thank you again <333333. I'm so happy (and baffled) that people continue to read my little scenarios and feel affected by them. I know I've said I've been a little burnt out lately, but I don't plan on stepping away (in a permanent capacity) any time soon. Just need a little R&R (if I could actually make myself stop and rest, that would be GREAT lol).

#61) Why do you continue writing fics?  I enjoy it, and I keep. getting. ideas. 😅 I remember when I was finishing up restless waves rise and fall I was like "oh man I only have like 4 other ideas....what happens if I run out?" and let's just say that is 1000% not a problem anymore. Now my problem is "how can I get through all these ideas before something in RL demands my undivided focus?" which might account for why I've been SO active this year.

I talk about how I work in a creative field, and that's true, but I don't get to create from scratch, and fic scratches that itch. And it's totally at my whim! No client briefs to meet, no writing to rigidly fit what other people expect, just....whatever the fuck I want.

#24) Worst writing advice anyone has given you?  "Write what you know." I think that's fine advice to get your feet wet, but if we all did that, I think ao3 would be boring as hell 😅. That's not to say if it works for you, don't do it—if writing what you know is what works, great! But for me, I had to break out of that mindset to really start writing some of my favorite things.
