i love being cared for and spoiled just as much as the next lesbian, but it's so important to do the same for the other person in the relationship.

helping them out when they've had a bad day, give them a shoulder to cry on or a neck to hide their face in, reassure them that they'll be ok no matter how much the world feels like it's crashing down on just them and them alone. or if they're not that much into physical touch, just lending an ear helps. even if you can't give them great advice, just being there and letting them get their bad day off their chest says a lot, and it means even more. and some people don't like to talk about their bad days. that's ok too. sometimes it's just space that they need but sometimes they just need to be distracted from their bad day. indulge in some of their favorite hobbies with them, watch a comfort show/movie of their's, cook them their favorite meal.

remembering the little things and doing them just because. adding in small details that you've remembered they hold so dear to their heart for whatever reason. it always feels good to know you're actually being listened to.

So I came across your eternal servants au pic, and I was just wondering how would the dynamics change between the twice as bad duo and Peaches if she was their master? And how would they be the same or at least similar?

No pressure to answer obviously, I was just curious because it's such a cool pic.

(eh. i cant think of a good reason for her to be their master in my au, so ill just describe what my reader would be like as the master in @emelinstriker 's universe)

reader is a very benevolent master. she doesn't want to punish her champions. and it's only partially because...she doesn't think she can? they're all incredibly powerful, so...what right does she have as a relatively normal human to enact any sort of repercussions on them?

however, she also doesn't want them to kill if they can help it. i imagine she would attempt to talk any enemies down first (if she's present) before one of her fellas has to step in and take the aggressor out.

i really can't see reader giving orders to the champions unless she has to. it just feels so...wrong to give them commands, like they're nothing more than machines. she feels a sense of remorse for the champions. reader can't help but wonder who they were before.

reader doesn't play favorites. mostly because all of the champions unsettle her to some degree. she just can't get used to the idea that these powerful beings are at her beck and call.

however, wukong, macaque, mk, and azure are the ones she interacts with the most. the others seek her out as well (as is their want), but at least one of these four are never far from her side.

(i know it's just a cute collab w/ @theweepingegg and it's not canon, but bean mk is a cutie, so that's how he'll appear here) lil guy mk follows reader around like a duckling. reader genuinely can't help but baby him, he's just too cute. he'll tug on her skirts for attention and look up at her with those big ol eyes; she has to pick him up, she can't resist. it doesn't matter that he's capable of incredible violence, he's just a lil guy!

idk exactly how the masters are usually "acquired," but i imagine that reader was living a fairly normal life before she was nabbed and brought to the palace. she takes an exhausted pride in the fact that she didn't freak out as bad as she could have. and y'know, in spite of the way she got there, reader really hasn't minded having all this free time.

if the palace has a library, that's where you can usually find reader. she feels safer in there than anywhere else.

the only champion who gives reader a hard time is mink (of course). however, it's less in a "genuinely doesn't like her" kinda way and more in a "teasing her because he thinks it's funny and otherwise doesn't mind her" kinda way. he thinks it's funny to rile her up, knowing she won't actually punish him. the others don't really voice their opinions on the masters, so i think mink's attitude is a good indicator for whether a master is a good one.

overall, reader tries her best to be a good master. she knows her champions are doing their best.

Perhaps my single favourite piece of writing in the comic book medium. This was my introduction to Cassandra Cain, and is the perfect place to get into her. Everyone should read Batgirl #19, and bask in the way it lays out the core of Cass' character with surgical precision. Puckett's Cass is fascinating: a fine balance of absolute confidence in her ability, crushing guilt about her past, a desperation for redemption and to see others redeem themselves, and a fundamental belief in the preservation of life. 1st batgirl on going, very good overall run, do it for Cass everyone its quite literally required reading for cass, babs, and steph. the way kelley puckett is able to explore cass’s character through her relationships with the other bats and the parallels between her and bruce is actually insane. theres so many little details in the visual story telling as well that just make the experience that much better. the fluidity and expressiveness of the art also adds on to the overall experience. it is literally DCs magnum opus Life changing series.

Young Justice (1998)

It's 6-8 fifteen year olds living in a cave, and their only adult supervision is a robot wind machine one of them graffiti-ed all over within the first five minutes of meeting him. The only two with anything even RESEMBLING normal childhoods are the demigod and the son of two billionaires (literally just some guy). They have an alien motorbike and at one point they save the world from aliens by playing baseball. Everyone in it is just so stupid all the time and I love that for them (god bless 🙏) Never has a comic quite that batshit and quite that sincere graced my presence I just love it and I enjoyed reading it

Blue Beetle (2006)

Just a good introduction to a character with a satisfying conclusion. I love you, Jaime, a guy who's just trying to do his best for his loved ones and his local community. I love you Khaji Da, scrungly lil dude speaking in glyphs. I love you, Brenda, and your complicated relationship with your aunt who adores you, but is also a crime lord. I love you Paco, a genuinely good friend. I love Jaime's family and the way they all adjust to Jaime being a superhero. I love the effort made to portray Jaime as a person with community and connections. i looove jaime sososo much he's such a fun protagonist and the developement of his character + his relationship w khaji da is sooo interesting and well written. i love seeing him bond with his little alien bug parasite !! all of the side characters are also so great like brenda and paco are so fun and la dama is suuuch an interesting character. jaime's family is also so lovely they clearly care abt jaime so much and its nice to see a kid superhero with parents who respect and also deeply care abt their kid. the art is also very fun overall its just a really stellar run Quite honestly one of the best written comic runs I've ever read, DC or otherwise. It flips so many standard comic book tropes on their heads and does it well. The main character is the epitome of just some guy and he is my favorite of all time. AMAZING characters. Fresh perspectives on comics tropes that are so overused it's hard to imagine comics without them. Everyone is worthy of respect and treated with dignity, even the villains. Khaji Da's character arc is amazing. And the adults make me laugh so much. Guy and Peacemaker as mentors who IMMEDIATELY recognize this kid is FAR more emotionally mature then they are, so they're not going to bother with that side of mentoring!

oh this boy. this poor boy.

i like to think that he goes through random bouts of sadness and frustration, especially before he regains his memory; he doesn't even know where his deep-seated rage towards demons come from! that fact just perpetuates his frustration. he can't understand why he's so angry and that only serves to anger him more.

also, let's not forget that he's a child. he is a fourteen-year-old child. he has a hard time processing his feelings and working through his trauma alone. children need love and support, love and support that he does not get enough of.

(the other hashira try their best, but let's be honest—they're all always so busy. they wouldn't realistically have time to attend to the emotional needs of a child.)

i don't care how independent canon muichiro seems to be.

he is a child. he grew up too fast.

to ease his soul, i think the best course of action would simply be to dote on him.

simple little gestures are definitely the way to go, too. he's got a big heart. it's really not too hard to cheer him up, as long as your efforts are genuine.

also, definitely give him a big hug. he'd love that. squeeze him like your life depends on it. it won't hurt him; he's a hashira. he'll be fine.

i headcanon that he's a very good cook!

he is, however, a disaster with baking.

doing things like cooking and baking with him would raise his spirits so so effectively. trying to teach him how to bake would be really good for making him laugh, because i guaruntee that you & him would end up covered in flour and shit like that LMAO

we all know this man is flashy and loud!

because of this, i think the best way to cheer him up would actually just be sitting in the silence with him.

no words, nothing. just calm silence between two friends.

observe the stars at night with him. listen to the wind rustle leaves and blades of grass.

anything that's simply low effort and relaxing would be good for him, i think. he's got so much energy all the time. tengen spends so much time being... loud and—obviously—flashy.

because of that, every now and then, he needs quiet time to recover.

he needs to decompress sometimes.

like kyojuro, i think he'd appreciate a good hug too. in his case though, it would be best and most effective to hug him once he's feeling better, not while he's feeling bad.

with his permission, massage the tension out of his shoulders. that would help too.

really, he just needs a judgement-free safe space in which he can wind down. i don't imagine him as the type to vent, so that's not something he'd be doing. he just needs someone who understands his need for the quiet, someone who won't pressure him to open up when he just isn't ready to.

He goes once (doesn't get Hob this time around) but the coffee is genuinely delicious. And cheaper than others around. So Dream comes back. And then he finally gets Hob and he knows, after seeing how the (bikini top/harness/nothing?) looks on his glorious pelt of chest hair and how warm and inviting his smile is, Dream knows he can't ever go elsewhere.

And if the other baristas notice the largest tips from the hot goth twink always go to Hob, they'll never tell. But they do always make sure Hob's there to take his order instead.

I think my favorite thing about this is that Dream is initially like, "Meh whatever, they have good coffee" and then Hob shows up and BAM.

And Hob is that guy who started doing this to make a couple of extra bucks at school, nothing meant to be long term, and certainly nothing meant to be serious. He doesn't mind the lycra shorts that almost have his asscheeks hanging out, nor the fact that he's got a little bit of love handles hanging over the waistband. Nor does he mind the top/harness thing they're supposed to wear It's kinky, of course, but it doesn't phase him in the slightest.

He spent his entire sophomore college year sleeping with anyone (guy, girl, or otherwise) who looked at him sideways so he knows that despite not being conventionally attractive to some he's wanted by his fair share of people Hob's the type who loves people, so fucking much, and having a job where he gets to cater to that love, and to give people a bit of a show in turn? Well, that's heaven if he ever saw it.

So he keeps the harness as his shoulders broaden and the shorts get a little bit tighter as he goes from scrawny college student to someone closer to their thirties than their twenties, and then someone in his thirties. Hob is well-aware that he has a specific clientele that comes in for him (determined to sit in his section, at least, when he's not working the register) - a handful of middle aged ladies who sport a permanent blush in the shop, a few younger boys who want something that he won't give them, and others who don't give a damn about the overall experience of the shop, they just want coffee.

(The people desperate for their coffee fix are Hob's favorites.)

Which is precisely how Hob meets the wraith of a man he starts calling his Stranger. The man, prior to his coffee, seems to have a permanent scowl etched on his face, but there's this LOOK he gets, after he takes his sip and tips his head back just a fraction that Hob... well. He's certainly not immune to it, and sometimes he's damn glad for the counter between them. It takes more than a dozen meetings where his Stranger just stares blearily at him as he dutifully recites his order, but then It happened.

It was June 7th. It was a Wednesday. It was moderately cloudy outside. Hob was tired. The waistband on his shorts was going, and the harness today was not sitting right no matter what he did. He tugged at it impatiently as he typed in his Stranger's order and heard a sharp, pointed intake of breath. When he looks up, his Stranger is staring at him, and the clear lust in his eyes is enough to have Hob ready to vault over the counter.

There's one beat, two, before his Stranger clears his throat and offers his credit card. Hob takes it and nearly drops it when his Stranger licks his bloody lips and then bites one, all without looking away from where the harness is digging into his skin more than it should be. Hob swipes the card, not wanting the moment to end, but he is at work, and well. The people who looked at him like this weren't ones he usually wanted to devour alive.

He hands the card back and their fingertips brush, and Hob prays he isn't imagining both of them shivering. There's a moment, both of them still staring, and fuck he's going to have to duck into the back room because these shorts really are TIGHT and don't leave anything to the imagination...

"Will..." His Stranger's voice is insanely deep on a good day, but now it sounds half strangled and Hob wants nothing more than to hear it when it's because the man has had his cock down his throat and... he really needed to not think that at work.

"Will you be here, later? I'd like..." His Stranger paused, considering. "To sit at a table in your section."

How the hell a relatively innocent question sounded precisely like a proposition, he had no idea, but his Stranger had managed it. Well-aware that his face was bright red, Hob manages to stammer out that yes, he will be working later, and his Stranger is welcome to one of the tables. He gets one more nod from his Stranger before the man is walking away and Hob knows he is staring at the not particularly substantial ass hungrily, because two of his coworkers make it a point to wolf whistle. Loudly.

Later, when his Stranger sits down with his computer and demands a bottomless cup of coffee, Hob wonders precisely what he is up to. It's only when he brings the check at the end of the night and his skin prickles over with the weight of the stare levelled at him, and his Stranger's hand settles over his as he puts the check down. Hob's heart is pounding as he watches his Stranger struggle for the words, starting and stopping several times over. Eventually, Hob has to save the man from himself, because he wants to climb him like a tree.

"If you're attempting to figure out how to proposition me, I get off work in thirty, I will keep my work uniform on under my clothes and we can go back to your place because I have a roommate and figure things out from there," Hob offered, cocking his hip as he leaned against the table. His forwardness pays off, because his Stranger's mouth drops open and his expression is RAVENOUS. Hob has never wanted to be devoured more.

A single nod is enough to have him grinning, bright and wide. He gives his Stranger a wink and runs his card, before going to clock out. If he made sure that his Stranger saw just how excited HE was as he walked away from the table, well.

No harm in making sure they were on the same page, after all!

Working on my tf2 hcs with the differences between RED N BLU teams

So far, I'm still vry surface level, but I'm thinking that like, even tho both sides are made of morally grey ppl, BLU is "less bad" (it seems) and RED is more asshole-y.

These are very broad personalities and there's clear "Good VS Bad" guys, I'm aware, but note that I'm also focusing on the possibility of a more cartoony au, rather than a genuinely deep/sincere one (I will put far more deep lore in the serious one and more thought into the characters)

Spy:

RED: The pompous prick everyone figures he is, super fucking full of himself, still kinda "suave" when he wants to be, but ironically tho he's lowkey greasy/stank. he's much more of a bastard/jerk to other ppl than his BLU counterpart and he just finds it entertaining to be a bitch, usually hanging around the other guys to look cute in a gross middle-aged man-way and be an ass. (Plot twist, it's a front, haha I love a little angst)

BLU:

Engie:

While he's snarky when he finds it necessary (his teammates are being dumb, or it's meant as more of a funny joke than actually being mean), he's much more chill and agreeable, willing to be polite until he gets provoked enough, unlike RED, who is bitchy until you give him reason to be civil. He's more introverted than RED, tending to stay quiet, or completely out of team situations unless they're actually important (ie missions and stuff, like in MTSpy). Lowkey depressed, yes in the angsty way, but he won't act like it, wanting to be taken seriously. (ALSO, unlike RED Spy, he actually fucking washes that mask and cleans his hair lmao)

RED:

He's super laid-back, though often to the extent of laziness. (Dude was the one to invent the Rancho-Relaxer or whatever the taunt is called.) He's rather good at his work when he gets the occasional boost of inspiration/energy/motivation, and his work-"schedule" with his machines is very spontaneous and random, and his workshop is a MESS (organized chaos, but he can barely find shit he needs without rummaging through all his stuff.) He's a bit crude and sarcastic, as well as stubborn as a mule and borderline alcoholic, (rarely getting drunk, but can't go a day without a few beers.) His "son" is Pyro, who gets to be both his henchman and his favorite lil guy ever.

BLU: Also took his Scout (and sometimes even Sniper) under his wing, being the more genuinely caring type of guy. He's more stern/strict/high-strung than RED, but less stubborn and more polite, being a decent, but old-fashioned man. This one is Dell Conagher, ofc, so do be warned, he's actually a bit of a good guy, but he will absolutely fuck your shit up, if need be. He's high-strung, and while he puts in effort to not look it, the chronic anxiety he deals with is a bitch. His work is more organized, he's the kind to frequently work all night, and he has a pristine workshop, which he will only let folks into when he is fully attending to them.

the filmbros. oh god. Owen is 100% the type of guy to love Quentin Tarantino films and think they're the peak of cinema, all the while hating Jennifers Body. Jordan however, king, he loves Jennifer's Body and 100% listened to Leah and Nora spend like three hours talking about the nuances of girlhood and queerness in the movie. Definitely watched and appreciated Barbie with them, even dressed up in all pink! borrowed some of Leah's clothes to do it <3 he loves channels like Dead Meat, because I feel like he especially likes horror movies? will defend the slasher genre with his life, hates torture porn movies. big fan of sleepaway camp!

I don't know much about nick but I can say this is accurate, I feel like he also does those videos reacting to weird white people recipes? like how long does it take for them to add a block of cream cheese to the crock pot, or the weird obviously fetish content ones? and he just makes this really stoic disappointed face like. fr.

I imagine the salt lake crew occasionally goes clubbing, and you're so fucking right about Leah. they all get kinda tipsy, but Leah takes two shots of vodka and starts falling in love with every fem presenting person in the building. gives the good compliments too. how beautiful they look in the party lights, the shine of their hair, the twinkle of their eyes, the highlighter! the outfit! is literally fawning over every fem person she sees and Jordan is just like yeah go ahead. mostly because he knows she loyal and also, she's literally just so cute. disclaimer that it's never in the like, fetishizing wlw for men, Leah literally just compliments every girl she sees ever. especially in the bathrooms! if she sees you crying, she is the first one at your side, offering to beat up whoever made you sad, holding your hand, helping you fix your makeup, the works. drunk girl Leah is a gem to humanity and there are leagues of girls out there whose nights have been saved by this drunken sweetheart. there have been. too many times where abby has had to physically throw Leah over her shoulder to get her out of the bathroom because they need to Leave and she's starting conversations with everyone who walks through the door.

Young Justice (1998)

It's 6-8 fifteen year olds living in a cave, and their only adult supervision is a robot wind machine one of them graffiti-ed all over within the first five minutes of meeting him. The only two with anything even RESEMBLING normal childhoods are the demigod and the son of two billionaires (literally just some guy). They have an alien motorbike and at one point they save the world from aliens by playing baseball. Everyone in it is just so stupid all the time and I love that for them (god bless 🙏) Never has a comic quite that batshit and quite that sincere graced my presence I just love it and I enjoyed reading it

Blue Beetle (2006)

Just a good introduction to a character with a satisfying conclusion. I love you, Jaime, a guy who's just trying to do his best for his loved ones and his local community. I love you Khaji Da, scrungly lil dude speaking in glyphs. I love you, Brenda, and your complicated relationship with your aunt who adores you, but is also a crime lord. I love you Paco, a genuinely good friend. I love Jaime's family and the way they all adjust to Jaime being a superhero. I love the effort made to portray Jaime as a person with community and connections. i looove jaime sososo much he's such a fun protagonist and the developement of his character + his relationship w khaji da is sooo interesting and well written. i love seeing him bond with his little alien bug parasite !! all of the side characters are also so great like brenda and paco are so fun and la dama is suuuch an interesting character. jaime's family is also so lovely they clearly care abt jaime so much and its nice to see a kid superhero with parents who respect and also deeply care abt their kid. the art is also very fun overall its just a really stellar run Quite honestly one of the best written comic runs I've ever read, DC or otherwise. It flips so many standard comic book tropes on their heads and does it well. The main character is the epitome of just some guy and he is my favorite of all time. AMAZING characters. Fresh perspectives on comics tropes that are so overused it's hard to imagine comics without them. Everyone is worthy of respect and treated with dignity, even the villains. Khaji Da's character arc is amazing. And the adults make me laugh so much. Guy and Peacemaker as mentors who IMMEDIATELY recognize this kid is FAR more emotionally mature then they are, so they're not going to bother with that side of mentoring!

Well have i got a WEIRD ANIMAL for you!!

(i know u know about this cause. Its a bird. And also was in the bracket if i remember right (to be fair ive been just a TAD confused as to wich bird poll blog this is ever since u changed ur url lol), but i dunno maybe i can give u some new info! And maybe not, but hopefylly you'll put up with me anyway!)

VULTURE!!!!!!

Anyway this is my FAVORITE. BIRD. And more people need to talk about her!!!!

So first of all there's the main thing they're known for - being the ONLY known vertabrate whose diet consists mainly (between 70 and 90 PERCENT!!!!!!) of BONE!!!!!!

ALSO however! This bird is POSSIBLE evidence of non-human animal using COSMETICS!!!! Y'see, they are naturally mostly white in coloration, but they roll in iron-rich mud and dust, thus dyeing their feathers a rich red color! Interestingly, Bearded Vultures, a primarily solitary and somewhat territorial animal, seem to be more respectful of and submissive to others of their species who have more red to their feathers. Though it is worth noting, as these birds live in very high altitudes, that we havent been able to observe them in the wild enough to prove the connection between dyed hue and perceived dominance.

Also i seem to remember in some poll (genuinely cant remember if it was urs or not) the Bearded Vulture was beat by a bird whose main notable trait was commiting fratricide - something that the Bearded Vulture ALSO does! The mother lays two eggs, one egg hatches about a week before the other, and upon the second egg hatching one chick (almost always the older one) kills and eats the other. I dont usually share that bit cause it would turn a lot of folks off from my Favorite Bird Ever but it really bothered me how that poll went down lol (lighthearted) (not actually mad)

Anyway, uuuuhhhh i think thats it -

So they eat bones right? And some bones are to big to swallow yeah? So, like any strong-legged bird would, they pick up the too-big bones, fly way up high, and then drop them on rocks to break them into edible peices.

Seems pretty normal yeah?

Well (allegedly) they also do that to turtles/turtles to access the meat on rare occasion.

Still not that weird? I completely agree!

However, (allegedly) a Bearded Vulture once killed a greek playwright by the name of Aeschylus by mistaking his bald head for a rock and dropping a tortoise on it from a great height!
