It’s time to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021!! 🎊 Admittedly, 2020 was a difficult year for a lot of people, including myself... but I’ve spent some time reflecting today on all the good 2020 had to offer.... . ❥ I said goodbye to a toxic relationship that I didn’t realize at the time was taking a toll on me... and learned to never settle for less than I deserve. ❥ I learned how to love myself on a whole new level that I never knew existed before. (Flaws and all.) ❥ I learned never to force anything. Be patient. The mind is a powerful tool and it’s important to know when to set it down🤔 ✨ Tools are great but they’re not always appropriate for every task for example turning on a light switch with a hammer is an inappropriate use of the tool😅 ✨ What if the same applies for the mind? Managing Covid-19 and Autism
Covid-19 isn’t something you fight against. With Autism (Asperger’s), just trying to get my head around the fact that the world has it and it’s a life and death scenario, means I’m already mentally and emotionally struggling.
There are days when I wake up and I have a wave of anxiety come across me, then there’s the odd day when I wake up and I’m feeling slightly more positive and I cope, primarily because I’ve had a good night’s sleep. The pandemic has brought about many challenges, mostly challenges around my mental and emotional health.
Not knowing I had Autism, has made it more difficult, but more so in Covid. The tools for me to cope have never been there. Trying to live through the pandemic, is like trying to fumble my way through a maze blindfolded. In the early days of the pandemic, I managed even less.
With Autism, my mental health is fragile. News can be overwhelming. It is inevitable my sensory issues are continually tied into problems with the pandemic. How I feel about everything is three to five times more magnified, which means being able to regulate my emotions is more difficult.
A year in and I am learning to focus on what I have control over, versus what I can’t control, paying attention to my mood, diet, getting adequate sleep and taking regular supplements. I work on trying to maintain control when things are out of control, but also being more prone to anxiety and depression, means I am continually susceptible to problems.
By taking good care of myself during such a difficult time, by learning to regulate my emotions and choose what I let in, I manage my anxiety in Covid-19 times. It’s not something I can overcome and win. Autism makes it so.

Today's affirmation reminds me of Kimi ni Todoke. 
Kuronuma Sawako's favorite motto is: 
"one good deed a day."
I'd like to add at least one good deed a day. I feel that the more kindness you share/give, the more happiness you'll feel. 
Starting today, I'll make sure to apply that in my daily life.
