Oh my goodness!! I am in love with “you hurt me pretty good too” I would love to read more about them if that’s possible? I mean anything about them I would love...could be their back story (like how they became fwb), the time between part one and two (like telling the cameron family and going to doctors appointments and when reader gives birth), a part three of the story, headcanons of a normal day at reader and rafe’s house, anything
you hurt me pretty good too pt 0.
pairing(s): rafe cameron x fem!reader
warnings: implied sex, pet names, alcohol consumption
summary: the story of how you and rafe meet.
authors note: i’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it!! i’ll make another part to this as well to explain the rest of the story, but for now, here is this!

“kie, i’ll be fine. ‘m just gonna go grab another drink,” you drunkenly assured your friend. “i’ll be right back.”
“hurry,” she replied. “come right back.”
you jokingly saluted. “yes ma’am.”
you pushed the glass door open and headed inside the spacious house, pushing past the crowd of drunk teens towards the kitchen where the drinks were held.
you looked to the bowl of red liquid with an empty bottle of vodka beside it. upon noticing the small pockets of whatever unknown substance floating around in it, you opted for something closed and untampered with.
you opened up the fridge and saw the bunches of cases filled with beer. opting for a bottle instead of a can, you picked one out and shut the fridge. as you turned to the side to begin your way back to your friends, someone unknowingly collided with you and whatever cool liquid was in their cup began to pour on and down your shirt.
“shit,” you heard the voice say. “sorry, i wasn’t paying attention.”
you jaw was practically on the floor, arms frozen by your midsection and body beginning to erupt in goosebumps. it was like you’d just jumped into an ice bath.
you were already pissed off that someone had ruined your red top, but that apology was also absolute shit. they couldn’t be more insincere.
you looked up to see who it was, annoyed to find that it was none other than rafe cameron. the shitty apology cashed out now.
he grabbed your hand, the one not holding your beer. “c’mon.” he began to lead you through the watchful eyes of the party and towards what you assumed was a bathroom.
he shut and locked the door once inside and began to bunch up some paper towel. not wanting to stand or sit on a toilet that has been puked on by teens all night, you hopped up on the bathroom counter and sat by the sink.
he ran warm water onto the paper towel and turned to you, beginning to wipe by your collarbones. “so that’s how its gonna go? not gonna ask or anything? just start rubbing a soggy paper towel on me?” you questioned, head tilted down to watch his hand move.
“do you want to be sticky or not?” he snapped with a sassy attitude.
“you were the one that spilled your beer on me,” you replied just as sassy.
he stopped for a second and took a deep breath. “i apologized. did i not?”
you laughed under your breath. “it was a shit apology.”
“yeah? well, at least i apologized,” he replied.
you rolled our eyes and shook your head. you weren’t going to win with him. you knew you weren’t. so you decided to just sit and wait until he finished.
he threw away the old paper towel and grabbed a new one, dipping it under the water again then wiping over the tops of your breasts.
you couldn’t help but look over his concentrated face. he’d truly changed since you last saw him.
he’d traded the side part for a middle part, the polos for flannels and quarter zip sweaters, and he no longer seemed like he was as much of an immature asshole.
still an asshole but much more immature.
“stop ogling at me,” he said.
there was that arrogance you knew so well. “you’re the one staring at my boobs,” you replied.
“so what?” he asked.
your brows furrowed. “so i can’t look at your face, but you can stare at my tits.”
“only reason i’m looking is cause i’m cleaning you off. wanna do it yourself?” he snapped back.
“i’d probably do a much better job,” you replied.
he stopped his movements and leaned back slightly to look in your eyes. “maybe i could work a little better if you’d shut up.”
“you talk big shit, cameron,” you mumbled under your breath.
he squinted at you and leaned in closer. “i didn’t quite catch that. what’d you say?” he knew damn well what you said.
“maybe if you’d just hurry the hell up and clean up your mess, we can both be on our merry little wa—“
before you could even finish your sentence, his lips were on yours.

Do u know any good mob psycho 100 fanfics?? Or authors??
well obviously my sister but I’m guessing you’re the same anon so 1) you already know her fics 2) you want different recs from what’s on her list (some of them being fics I rec’d to her lol). recs will skew heavily seri/rei and I’m just going through my bookmarks so it’s gonna be most recently read to oldest read. also seconding sister’s recs of bobmoss and crookedturtle. but I’ll add a fic from each anyway because I already wrote something for one while I was drafting this (oops)
Recollection by CowardlyBean
This is the journal of missing 31 year old Reigen Arataka, distributed with permission from friends and family. The version presented in this document has been kindly edited with added commentary by a loyal customer of his. -Editor’s Note
gen, experimental and in progress at 14k so definitely deserves more love than it’s getting. inspired by house of leaves; as the summary says, it’s some rando writing annotations about reigen’s journal, but Something Weird Is Going On. the 4th chapter updated so I actually need to catch up. also, sister rec’d this fic to me
Like Acid Reflux, or Love by partingxshot
Dating Reigen is like dating a single dad—only with more children, weirder scruples, and an extreme ruthlessness vis-à-vis group takoyaki discounts. He's not hot enough for this.
OR: "Me, You and Steve" by Garfunkel and Oates but with fifteen million teenagers.
OR: Outsider POV exploring Reigen’s dedication to his gaggle of bizarre children through an ill-fated dating attempt.
OR: Serizawa gets bruxism.
gen(/pre-relationship seri/rei), oneshot, 7k. oc/reigen breakup lmao. extremely funny concept, extremely good execution
Dream Dial by Alakazamboni
For the better part of nine years, Arataka has proudly worked in customer service at a behemoth of a company. At least, that's what he remembers, but a strange illness and a mysterious caller keeps trying to convince him otherwise. It doesn't help that this caller has the power to distort reality.
seri/rei, in progress, 16k. great uncanny atmosphere, and also reigen is trapped in time prison as a miserable office worker. hasn’t been updated for a while but read it anyway, the stoping point is fine
What We Make by crookedturtle
Reigen and Tome are kidnapped from the Spirits and Such office to be used as leverage against Mob. They have two goals: to contact the outside world, and keep each other safe. In doing so they engage in a dangerous game of lies and manipulation with their captors—a game with potentially deadly consequences.
gen (bg seri/rei), complete, 36k. Good for whump and high stakes interpersonal maneuvering & drama. I liked how the story extends beyond rescue and goes into how everyone navigates the fallout
Man's Best Friend by bobmoss
A cursed dog gets left at Spirits and Such. Anyone who pets it is doomed to die a horrible death.
Reigen, of course, pets it.
seri/rei, oneshot, 4k. funny and cute and sweet :) there’s a very charming tentative & tender vibe
heart line by ruthwrites
It doesn’t really matter, he reminds himself. He’s making a change, just like all of Reigen’s clients. What’s on his hands isn’t set in stone. He just has to make sure Reigen doesn’t see it— even if it might feel nice to have that steady attention, Reigen’s hands that are so much nicer than Serizawa’s folding around his.
(or: Reigen starts offering palm readings as a service, leading to Serizawa having to confront his feelings for his boss.)
seri/rei, oneshot, 6k. getting together fluff, a fun light read that also highlights serizawa’s insecurities—the internal narration has good character voice
If you won't believe me when I say it, believe me when I don't by deathdefied
Two years after Reigen invited Serizawa to work for him, he still can't quite categorize his feelings for his coworker. Instead of actually dealing with those feelings like an adult and talking to his friend, he decided to get really paranoid and overthink everything Serizawa does.
seri/rei, complete, 26k. reigen drives himself nuts lmao
Obvious by skeilig
Tome’s perspective on Reigen and Serizawa’s developing relationship.
gen (but about seri/rei), oneshot, 3k. I like outsider perspective getting together fics, especially when the perspective character is like ‘I’m actually not invested in this except when it affects me directly’
Cover Me by flecksofpoppy
Reigen’s shadow seems longer as the days move forward, more solitary. The cuts on his face heal and the ache in his bones go away, but a new sting replaces it. It’s loneliness, the thing he had managed to avoid ever since a primary school-aged kid who could make cups float stumbled into his office so many years ago.
seri/rei, oneshot, 3k. getting together fic that shows off a little of reigen’s gloomier side, it’s cute
loved you just a little too much by shcherbatskayas
You learn how to let go.
(It doesn't come naturally.)
gen(ish), oneshot, 2k. 2nd person character study of serizawa’s relationship with touichiro, I liked the ambivalence; effectively captures development over time with a relatively short wordcount.
offering genuine help with genuine results by suitablyskippy
“The curse was pretty clear on me not telling lies,” concedes Reigen. “It was pretty clear on me telling the truth. But,” as he lifts one finger, already sliding into the same educational tone he generally uses for imparting wisdom to Mob about life and love and the overall holistic benefits of making sure he’s always available for unexpected overtime work on weekends, “telling the truth isn’t necessarily the same as being honest, is it?”
“You’re the professional liar,” says Dimple. “You tell me.”
(Being cursed to only tell the truth and being cursed with Dimple as an employee are pretty much equally bad, as far as Reigen's stress levels are concerned.)
gen, oneshot, 2k. the tags include friends with no benefits whatsoever, which is very apt. Very funny to have reigen and dimple be petty and shady
a slightly more miraculous miracle by suitablyskippy
“Rumour has it that something impossible’s happened. Something that could never have happened. That shouldn’t have been able to happen.” In a single slick move Mezato produces a tiny voice recorder from an inside pocket, flips it open and active, and holds it up before Mob’s mouth to ask him, in a tone of devastating intensity: “Do you know anything about… a miracle, Mob-kun?”
Mob doesn’t hesitate. “We had maths homework to hand in,” he says. “But now we don’t have to. We don’t even have to go to the lesson.”
(The sun is shining, the birds are singing, Salt Middle School has been closed by an unexplained miracle, and the only thing wrong in Spice City is the fact that nothing is even slightly wrong at all.)
teru/mob, incomplete, 55k. for the most part I haven’t been repeating authors on this list, but listen. listen to me. I need you to listen. it is extremely unlikely for this fic to ever be completed. but hark, lest this sad probability turn you away and leave you dispassionately scrolling to the next fic, I need you (you specifically) to know that if I were in the same room as you, I would be wrestling the phone/mouse/trackpad/touchscreen/etc from your hands and furiously clicking the link. when I bookmarked this fic in 2017 I described it as having “some breathtakingly sensical prose and the funniest misunderstandings I’ve ever read”. trust me from seven years ago. open your heart.
skylight by inexhaustible
unconnected snapshots in what might, in some worlds, be something a little like recovery.
seri/rei, oneshot, 2k. character study that nails the tension of an escalating romantic atmosphere.
come on, come on, come over (take it off your shoulder) by mortarsmayfall
Reigen's free hand cradles Serizawa's head, curled under his ear just so to turn it for a better angle. He feels his pulse pound under Reigen's fingers, shivers just the slightest bit. If Reigen notices, he doesn't say anything about it.
seri/rei, oneshot, 2k. when I first read this I saved it as a private bookmark because I was so embarrassed by the sheer intimacy of haircuts with severely unresolved sexual tension. I’m guessing this was written after studio bones gave us reigen cutting serizawa’s hair. crumbs no more; for once we had a feast to enjoy. short & sweet getting together fic
Off-White by reigreitz
Some habits are tells.
seri/rei, oneshot, 1k. snapshots of pre-relationship and established relationship scenes, I’m quite fond of it. on my first reading I’m pretty sure I remember not paying attention to the habit piece at all (even with it being right in the summary) so at the last scene I was hit by the double whammy of ‘oh so that was what serizawa was reacting to’ and ‘AW… THAT’S SWEET…’; I think the fic does a great job of hiding/not acknowledging certain things the perspective character knows and is reacting to, which makes it fun to reread and pinpoint what exactly serizawa’s previously more opaque train of thought was. like, it’s the same stuff, but you get to read into more nuance.
the seven stages of falling in love by reigen arataka by matsunoble
You suppose one of the weirdest times to realize you've fallen deeply and irrevocably in love is when it's fuck o'clock in the morning and you're blearily checking your fridge for leftover curry.
seri/rei, oneshot, 3k. I was quite taken by the mundane (and sometimes unappealing) descriptions of love, and I like when serizawa has the upper hand
Mr. Psychic by beefstatic
Looks like trouble in Spice City...
seri/rei, oneshot, 4k. Serizawa Acts Like An Intimidating Bodyguard During Tense/Shady Situations. fun emphasis on that potential aspect of his character, I like how it’s done.
Late by hamlingo
For the first few days after hiring Serizawa, Reigen couldn’t help but be alarmed when the door opened at eight o’clock sharp in the mornings. He got used to it eventually, and in a month’s time he was more surprised when the door didn’t creak open right on time.
This was one of those mornings.
seri/rei, oneshot, 2k. this is actually among the first seri/rei fics I bookmarked so I can say with relative certainty that on may 20th 2017 I decided that maybe seri/rei was not just a joke of me indulging my own spurious unreasonable whims. fun character study and has that enjoyable tension of pleasant pre-relationship uncertainty.
Quiet Talks by krypkaktus
At some point, Reigen cutting his hair twice a month had turned into a mutual habit.
seri/rei, oneshot, 600 words. another charming snapshot of pre-relationship uncertainty, pleasantly embarrassing unresolved romantic tension.
walk in by ruthwrites
It was then he realized that the reason Reigen and Serizawa were standing so close was because they were kissing.
Mob was not really sure what to do with that information.
(or: mob leaves something at the office, comes back, and walks into something he wasn't supposed to)
seri/rei, oneshot, 3k. an extremely popular fic for extremely valid reasons, this is a shining example of the outsider POV shipfic where the perspective character is like. I’m 14 and did not want to see you guys kissing. and the couple is like. we also did not want you to see us kissing, this is excruciatingly awkward.
tomorrow isn't always another day by suitablyskippy
It’s like Reigen’s been waiting for the question. He stops dead on the pavement, grips Mob by the shoulders, and stares down into his eyes with an expression as haunted as though every ghost the pair of them has ever exorcised has taken up residence behind it. “Mob,” he says. “Mob,” he says again. “Tell me, Mob. Look at me and tell me. Tell me truthfully. Do I look cursed to you?”
Mob looks at him, and tells him truthfully. “No.”
“Well, you didn’t look very long,” says Reigen. “Let’s just stand here for a moment, like so, and you can have another look, a nice long look, and really think about it...”
(There's nothing strange about being called back to exorcise the same haunted photocopier six days in a row. It must just be a very haunted photocopier.)
gen, oneshot, 18k. I didn’t mean to rec the same author three (3) times but this is also one of my top faves. extremely funny time prison where nobody is on the same page ever.
space voyage by Anonymous
Tome Kurata is slightly famous—or notorious, more like—for being... a weirdo, to put it simply. She's definitely a person of interest. Just not exactly in a newsworthy way, which is obviously the only way that matters.
mezato/tome, oneshot, 1k. charming pre-relationship contention, they’re the same type of self-absorbed and tunnel vision (affectionate)
I was thinking of not writing up recs for sister’s fics but since one author got three (3) fics on the list I’m gonna also put 3 of my fave fics of sister’s
Reigen's Comprehensive Fool-Proof Guide on How Not To Be Next Door Neighbors With Your Employee (because that'd just be creepy) by MalkyTop
Reigen hires Serizawa and they somehow end up as roommates.
seri/rei, complete, 17k. a fic sister wrote for ✨ME✨ that shows off reigen’s neuroticism and his decidedly not-normal attempts to come across as Extremely Normal, The Most Normal Man Alive. there are so many comedic setups and payoffs. there are so many shenanigans. reigen gets frog-boiled into romance. actually, I drop that term a lot but I’m not sure it’s a common enough to intuitively understand. it refers to the boiling frog metaphor
If At First You Don't Succeed, Find a Loophole by MalkyTop
Reigen keeps dying; Serizawa keeps trying to save him.
seri/rei, complete, 18k. sister was insane for this because she trapped all of her readers AND herself in time prison by releasing one chapter a day. it was really funny to witness because I was the only person not in time prison by virtue of editing privilege. while we were watching mondays: see you next week (an office time loop movie), sister was saying she was impressed at how effective/efficient the movie was at picking which scenes to repeat. this is to say, as someone who notices these details, sister was very intentional about when things changed and how things changed from the perspective of a character completely unaware of time prison. also, the emotional momentum is extremely good, I loved reading serizawa’s increasing desperation from reigen’s context-less perspective.
in absentia* by MalkyTop
After what was supposed to be a routine exorcism, Reigen wakes up in the wrong body.
serirei, complete, 26k. slowburn bodyswap with mystery and intrigue. a solid casefic! I can be biased and right. there are metanarrative elements that I find fun and that, in my opinion, highlights how sister did in fact get a degree in philosophy. there’s also some fun subtle and messy characterization notes, like when serizawa asks reigen not to cook for him. it’s hard to talk about what I like about this fic without giving away a lot of specifics, so go read it.

so as we all know, the live action atla airs tomorrow. knowing me, I'll end up binging the whole thing in one, two days tops.
I think the majority of my followers on this platform followed me back in 2020, when the animated show dropped on netflix and saw a sudden resurgence in popularity. so most of you know me as a fan, and it's not exactly a secret. I adore the animated show. It's somewhere in my top ten favorite tv series of all time. it might even be the top, I've never actually sat down and thought about it that deeply, but if I did, atla very well could be number one.
it's not a perfect show, far from it. it has flaws. everything does. but I was there with atla from literally day one. I remember back in 2005, all the tv ads for this cool, anime-esque nickelodeon show that was gonna air soon. I memorized the date and time of the premiere. I made damn sure I wasn't gonna miss it. my 12-year-old ass forced my little brother to surrender the remote for that hour and refused to let him touch it. turns out I didn't need to, because we both got invested right away. and I tuned in for every new episode from that day on. even if I was at a friend's house, I made sure we watched if a new episode of atla was airing. I was that insane about this show.
I can remember making up fake bending routines in my parents' living room (usually firebending lol). in the summers I'd pretend to be a waterbender in the swimming pool. some of my earliest drawings are of katara, aang, and zuko, and then later azula. I remember when the blue spirit first aired and presenting my brother with the "zuko will definitely become aang's friend and teach him firebending" manifesto. he was not convinced. I was devastated by the season two finale, and so vindicated by season three. I remember how long the 2008 writer's strike felt when it delayed the second half of season three. and I remember when the finale finally aired- by this point I was now 15- and just the rollercoaster of emotions that was for me as a teenager. I remember not wanting it to be over, delving into the online fandom and discovering all the different ships, fanart, fanfics, and video edits (and drama). I learned how to use windows movie maker and pirate the episodes just because I wanted to join in on the fun. I wrote a not good zutara fic that I never finished. I put my shitty little azula videos on youtube. I've been in and out of this fandom ever since.
so to say I have a lot of love for the animated series would be an understatement. when I think of the media that defined my childhood, there's really five things that first come to mind- harry potter, pokemon, anime more broadly (special shout out to yugioh and sailor moon), disney, and atla.
I say this all to establish that there is zero chance the live action adaptation could ever overtake the animated original for me. I will always love it more, it will always be the more special version of this story. I was exactly aang's age when that first episode aired. there's no replacing something like that. when I think of this story and these characters, I think I will always default to the animated version.
that said, I really am feeling optimistic about the live action adaptation. I'm frequently skeptical of these kinds of projects, especially the disney remake trend, but there's a couple reasons I feel pretty okay with the adaptation of atla. one is that there has been a recent uptick in popularity of the original. it's a good time to re-visit this story, people are interested, and it can only serve to get even more people to watch the original given both will now be on netflix. two is that I'm very encouraged to see that both in front of and behind the camera, asian and indigenous people are taking center stage. I don't think we can discount the importance of that. third, everything I've seen about this show that's not a panicked hot take on twitter or a headline pulled out of context is fairly encouraging. I mostly like what I've heard from the cast and showrunners in interviews. several reviews of the first episode's premiere have been broadly positive, most importantly to me, from actual fans who attended.
I do have some reservations. I'm not totally sold on the visual aesthetic, with the somewhat darker color palette and the contrasting saturation of the costumes. for this first season, I'm easily most concerned about how katara is going to be written. I want them to make changes and tell the story differently, but I do worry they won't find the right balance. too much change to central character arcs could deleteriously impact the story. and I will always be concerned about the portrayal of azula.
I also have mixed feelings about the sexism thing- I'm not necessarily pressed that they might tone down sokka's or even pakku's overt sexism, and frankly the "girls can fight too!" version of feminism is kind of tired in 2024. I also know several indigenous people have spoken up about how the water tribe's being sexist was not a great look. but I am concerned that, in toning this aspect down, they might inadvertently neuter katara's character arc or remove some of her best moments. I have to question how this change will impact suki as well. ironically I'm not as worried about sokka, his sexism was a minimal part of his overall character arc- but it's impact on the women around him was much more meaningful. that's what I'm more concerned about.
I've also heard that the first episode suffers from a glut of exposition that was felt necessary for new viewers but returning fans will likely find tiresome. and naturally I'm worried some things will look goofy, fail to translate from cartoon to live action well, or that some of the heart and charm of the original will get lost in translation. so yeah, there's concerns.
but generally speaking I'm more excited than not. if the show has as much love put into it as the cast and crew interviews seem to indicate, then I think revisiting this world and these characters in a new way with a new generation at the helm will be a lot of fun. the nostalgia market is definitely oversaturated right now, you can certainly argue this didn't need to exist, but I'm not going to pretend I'm not interested to see what they do with this. especially when we already got such a bad live action version- it's not like this is a new idea for atla as a franchise. there's a precedent already set for trying it again. so I'm going in with an open mind. let's see what they do- it's not like it's ever going to replace the original. it can't.
...also I think the tag I'm going to use is "natla spoilers". I've been tagging "atla live action" but I think I'm gonna switch over to "natla" primarily from now on. and believe me, I will be sharing my thoughts.

god Verg I love a Structure so much, it’s gonna be “despicite, dei, gaudete” for the WIP game & I would love to hear more about the said structure if you feel like sharing it!
hello!! an excuse to talk about my project? yes please thank you <3
so it’s three “layers” which are entangled (maybe laced is a better word — i’m still ironing out final structural presentation, but the core is there)
1. sopwith, a book published in 1950 about pilots in WWI — aiming for an american modernism style, steinbeck influences (god i love steinbeck) with a dash of the faintly surreal, though i wouldn’t call it experimental. presented in standard book style, not terribly long
2. the life of sopwith’s author, who was himself a pilot in the second war, discharged after a serious plane crash — sopwith is published after his stint in the air force and he spends the last six years of his life in a new york hotel (based on the chelsea) obsessively redrafting a second edition of sopwith and filling a horde of journals, which themselves are published 50 years later as an academic text (though the second edition of sopwith never sees the light of day). told in journal passages
3. the efforts of a lit studies doctorate to piece together what it was sopwith’s revised version (never published) was really trying to say while she struggles with her own psychiatric health and her relationship to literature and the world at large. told in footnotes on sopwith, journals, and letters to her brother.
that’s the simplest sort of breakdown — the lit. studies doctorate ends up living in the same hotel the author lived in while she’s working and enters a psychological spiral where she becomes entangled with those last years of the author’s life and the thing he was trying to excise via his book, so the lines get a little blurry as the whole thing progresses. there are lots of throughlines about doubling/communication/the effort of people to corral the world with the written word/etc — inspired a lot by jorge luis borges and also house of leaves. i’m still in the glorious haze of Throw It All On The Page so i expect there’ll be some. refinements? (please god)
despicite, dei, gaudete is the first thing the author ever wrote and published — it’s a novella about an odd family myth a grandmother is telling her grandson, but taking a borges tact what we read instead of the actual novella is the lit doctorate’s essay about it, an excerpt from the middle of which i shall offer you here :)
thanks much for the ask my friend <3 <3
The seemingly obvious moral is twofold: old gods are infinitely cruel, and splitting up in strange forests is a terrible idea (a fact any B-list horror film will readily remind us of). Little chou hears this story, and when the telling of it is over, we discover that chou is now an old man, telling the tale to his granddaughter, and we have been hearing the telling of a telling, itself impressed upon by dimly-recalled circumstance and the erosion of an old man’s memory. Now we see why the impressions of intermediate narrative — a family dinner, a bedtime, a certain firelit drawing room — are so loosely sketched, so half-filled and yet so elemental. They are the memories of a child.
Most take Despicite as Witten’s first establishment of in loco, absentia on the basis of the fact that the real narrative concealed within is the life of chou, understood to us by the particularity of the details he does remember: his mother’s hand vividly recalled, posed mid-stir over a soup pot, thought by many to imply both her early death and chou’s pursuit of the culinary arts; the flames in the hearth and the strange vision chou has of the stones blackened, suggesting at one time that the house burned down; chou’s exquisite ekphrasis of the ceiling in his childhood bedroom, so vivid one cannot help but think that this is where we find him now, perhaps confined to the same quarters he slept in as a child, an old man at the end of his life. Legion readers have pointed out the obvious Biblical influences, the echoes of Cain and Abel (raised as a Protestant in his hometown of Valentine, Nebraska, it’s no small wonder that Witten’s works tend to touch on Christian themes). The first brother, killed and then dismantled by the second, plays our ready Abel, and the second our more hapless Cain, whose inciting sin is perhaps his abandonment of his brother to the dark wood in pursuit of his own reckless belief. He then attempts to “hide” his sin by rectifying it, collecting his brother in an attempt to reverse his transformation into earth. It’s no great leap. Our Cain, of course, is not condemned to wander, but instead condemned to a miserable stasis, from which he similarly does not escape.

I'm rewatching Fringe and rereading some of your stories recently. In Time is GREAT!!! And I wonder what's your initial plan for this fic, like have you ever thought about the chapters ahead of the previous ones? To me Polivia having a boy in all timelines is fun for imagination (as I firmly believe that after s5 they're gonna have a second child named Charlie)
Tumblr media
That makes me so happy! Literally no one ever reads In Time because it's more or less hidden on ff.net 😂😭 Someday I might edit it and post what I have of it on AO3 just so it's archived there, especially since I think it does help anyone getting traumatized by In Reverse whoops. Writing them having another baby who actually survived birth sure helped me back then!
I had SO MUCH PLANNED for that fic, too, beyond where I stopped (I think Nathan was about 1 year old in the last chapter I wrote). Basically things were about to get super angsty again because I'm an angst!whore who can't control herself. Here goes:
(adding a read!more because not everyone wants to read my angsty musings 😂)
But yeah, I was planning on their son slowly developing Peter's infamous illness from when he was a kid, and Olivia slowly dying too because she would be using her cortexiphan ability & bond with him to 'take' his illness and keep him alive, while Peter slowly lost his shit over not being able to stop her from doing it & not being able to come up with a cure for his son.
EXCEPT that I wouldn't have killed anyone this time, because Peter would have managed to contact his biological father (Walternate was on that side when the other universe was destroyed), who was the only person who made a working cure for Peter back in 1985. Walternate would eventually agree to help him save Nathan, after realizing he was actually responsible for baby Elizabeth being stillborn, as a result of Olivia getting injected with Altliv's genes when he kidnapped her & tortured her, which led her to have some version of VPE like Altliv, resulting in her baby's death. Which I always knew was the cause of her death by the way, I just never got around to explaining it in In Reverse, because I thought I would get to it in In Time
Once Nathan was cured, Walternate would also have started working with the Fringe division to start healing their world instead of killing it, and it would have been as close to a happily ever after as I could make it.

hiyaaa would you care to share some kobra thoughts cause im thinking about him again
(aka: in the process of dying my hair and have to wait for an hour :/)
YESSSSS OKAY-
oh my god i just wrote like four paragraphs that i realized were basically just a summary of shut talked abt in the next ttid chapter since that chapter 90% just Kobra Kid Thoughts atm soooo this is take two with lighter shit that Isnt just basically spoilers lmao
- he has heterochromia, one eye's green and the others brown (dont ask me which is which i have it written down somewhere but i dont remember rn 😭) this fact is very important to me and is something i gotta bring up when i go back and edit past ttid chapters
- he looooves old karate movies, an obsession which was sparked very early on in his time in the zones. the doc has a collection of old tapes and shit, one of which was the karate kid! yk thing abt how every transmasc has a dude from an 80s movie that they wanna steal the gender of?? yeah. kobra's is danny larusso
- one of the few things thats consistent between pretty much all versions of kobra's story in my head is that, a few months after he gets out to the zones he and poison get into a huge fight that causes them to part ways for a 1-2 year period
- its during that ^ year when kobra finds his bike in what he thinks is an abandoned warehouse. it is Not Abandoned but it's fine. i mean, if those other guys really wanted to keep their bike, they wouldve put up more of a fight right? kobra certainly wouldn't have stopped after a few broken bones if he were in their position anyways
- ZERO self preservation instincts. he absolutely thinks he can win every single fight he gets into, which lead him to picking fights with people either a lot bigger than him or a lot more skilled and it doesnt always end well!
-this also extends to animals but in a sort of opposite way. this fucking dumbass will just pick up any fucking creature to try and pet it bc he thinks if it attacks him hell be able to handle it. he does this with snakes a lot in particular- the amount of fucking heart attacks jets had bc he sees kobra just. picking up snakes she was taught to avoid her entire life bc Venom,,,
- i like the idea that hes got a streak of red in his hair to match party's, and party has a blonde streak in theirs to match his :]
- the venom siblings also have matching snake tattoos that wrap around one of their arms. they get them a little while after reconciling from that huge fight and year apart and shit- its sort of a reminder that theyre family, even on the days where they have to hold back from killing each other
- jet is kobra's favorite person to go on supply runs with bc he thinks shes the one out of the crew with the best music taste (second to him of course) and theyre really good at negotiating together bc they are both intimidating in just the right, slightly different ways
- kobra also likes jet a lot bc they know enough abt mechanics to be able to hold a conversation with him, whereas party never has a single clue what hes talking about. and then when ghoul comes along kobra is like "oh okay im in love with you now" bc ghoul actually knows A Lot abt mechanics and bikes and cars and actually maybe he knows more than kobra so kobra's all "yeah okay ur mine now ur gonna talk to me abt bikes for hours rn rn rn" like an excited puppy
- i think kobra is also the more tech savvy of the group. ghoul and jet are old fucking men when it comes to that shit bc theres not a lot of computers in the zones. but kobra was really into technology back in the city, way more than party, so hed the one responsible for hacking the vending machines or dealing with the computers and security shit when they break into bli buildings
- at some point the kid finds an old laptop and that becomes his other project. when theres nothing to work on with his bike, hes trying to get that laptop working. when he does get the laptop working, he finds a bunch of old 2000s era memes saved onto it that he ends up referencing constantly despite not knowing what the fuck theyre talking about (im like 90% sure i got this idea from a fic or something i read *years* ago but idk what it was and i havent been able to find it so someone plz lmk if any of that sounds familiar 💀)

Kind of a stupid question but how does one deal with the potential influence of later propaganda, history rewriting or exaggerations when reading ancient Roman historians? How do you know what to trust in writings like those of Suetonius, Plutarch etc and what to take with a grain of salt?
Not stupid at all - historians are arguing about that to this day! Buckle up, 'cause this is gonna be a long post.
I'm not an expert, just a nerd. But I like to ask questions about the text:
Who is the author?
Who are they writing to, and for what purpose?
What surrounding circumstances influenced this person?
Where did the author get their information, and how reliable is their source? How close in time are they to the events?
What information is missing? What is not being said?
Are there multiple versions of the text?
Is there other evidence corroborating/contradicting what this person wrote?
How have other historians interpreted this text? Do they contradict each other? Have historians' views changed over time?
What emotions arise in me as I read this? How do my own values influence how I read this text?
I'll use The Jewish War by Flavius Josephus as an example, mainly because it's one of the few ancient histories I've read in full. Warning: allusions to antisemitism and the Siege of Jerusalem ahead.
Who is the author? A Jewish historian and commander from the eponymous war, who switched sides to the Romans.
Who is he writing to, and why? He was intentionally writing a history book in Hebrew, and later had it translated into Greek. Although he appears in the book, it's not a memoir. He probably intended the Greek version to be for a general audience.
Surrounding circumstances? Josephus defected to General Vespasian on the Roman side, who would become Josephus' patron and later an emperor. So he mostly portrays Vespasian in a neutral-to-positive light, even though Vespasian was brutally suppressing what we would now call a struggle for independence. However, Josephus continued to identify and live as Jewish throughout his life.
Where did Josephus get his information? He's an eyewitness to most of it, so he knows what he's talking about. But that doesn't necessarily mean he's always telling the truth, or being objective!
What is not being said? Josephus portrays Herod's family as deeply fucked-up, including the women. I'd love to hear the women's side of the story. He also does not mention that he was on Vespasian's payroll by the time he was writing!
Are there multiple versions of the text? Yep! Josephus himself altered the text when republishing in Greek, which would have been read by more Romans than the original Hebrew version. So he may have altered it for Roman sensibilities. And later Christian writers would edit some phrases to make Josephus appear to be a Christian and claim more historical evidence for Jesus.
Is there other evidence? Yep, and it mostly agrees with Josephus' account. Modern historians think he's factually reliable.
How have historians reacted over time? Old-timey Christian historians loved him, and often used the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem to further an antisemitic narrative of divine punishment for killing Jesus. Jewish historians, as you can imagine, vastly disagreed! They usually saw Josephus as a traitor for defecting to the Romans, and didn't trust Christian translations of the text. With the advent of secular and Jewish-led translations, some Jews have come to see his work more favorably.
My own biases and emotions? I read the book as both tragic and inspiring, since it highlighted the courage and resourcefulness of the Jews in resisting Roman brutality, but also the many bad actors (on both sides) who used war as an excuse to grab power and unleash vengeance. I was raised Christian but had deconverted by the time I read Josephus; I may have read the text differently if I were Jewish. I also have not read Tacitus, the Talmud or the Midrash, so I can't directly compare this text to other sources.
The print edition of ancient texts usually has an introduction that will answer most of these questions for you. You can also look up the author and book on Wikipedia, then look at the external links/references at the bottom for further reading. For a really well-rounded take on a subject, try picking up an anthology, so you can read lots of different historians' views!
It's also helpful to learn a little bit about media literacy. Crash Course has a great YouTube series on it, and you can use media literacy skills to analyze anything, not just historical texts.

Accidental Star Wars Fungi Headcanon???
Ok so i'm doing Big Edits for Yoda's chapter of This Story Can Kill You, and it's set in the room of a thousand fountains, aka the giant garden on a city planet, so I got to writing about plants.
I fucking love writing about plants--like so much, you don't even know--it's addictive, they should put a warning on it idk--
Obsessions aside, I started talking about grass and moss and clover and then I was like fungi are here too. So then I was like mycelium and symbiosis obviously. And then I just wrote a line all casual, as one does,
Their roots are tended by fungi gardeners in a relationship half as old as the Force itself.
Based on the vague idea of the Force coming from life. But then I was like i need to fact check that to be satisfied with it, because I am not an evolutionary biologist but I am a nerd.
and like according to wikipedia numbers,,, I was wrong,,,but not that wrong:
Life started on earth ~3.7 bya (billion years ago), and fungi emerged 1.2-1.5 bya o, and the first plants about 0.8-1.0 bya. The first land plants and land fungi, as well as this specific symbiotic relationship (probably) evolved out about ~0.5 bya. That's about a seventh as old as life, not a half, but it's still a significant fraction.
Anyway the head canon part of this comes from the fact that “half as old” sounds better than “one seventh as old,” and obviously none of these numbers are technically relevant to SW anyway. Fungi themselves are about half as old as life itself, so let's say water plants and water fungi had a similar relationship to their land versions on whatever planet first developed life in the SW universe. Then the relationship would be about a third as old as life going by a proportionate time line, and the title of the chapter is literally "A Poet at his Work," so Yoda can be afforded a bit of poetic license and say half. He's cool like that.
How does Yoda know about how old the fungi are? The Force told him obv. He couldn't give any answers about it that would make a biologist happy he just knows the Force things fungi are neat and likes to share facts about them. He also probably wouldn't give those answers if he could. He would say something cheating and the fungi prefering to be mysterious anyway.
Side note: Also in the process of these edits I have learned that giant sequoias (eg the real big tall trees it takes like 10+ people to hug) don't have tap roots??? (tap roots are the biggest root a lot of trees have and they typically grow like straight down looking for water, unlike other roots that are much closer to the surface) Apparently their stability is achieved with super wide but shallow root net works instead? I mean I've been to a giant sequoia forest and there sure are a lot of roots to trip on but that's still insane to me.
Sources (all wikipedia)
plants
fungi
specific fungi-plant relationship: mycorrhiza
land plants & land fungi emerge
Anyway is there a fungus side of tumblr? i feel they should explain everything I'm getting wrong here
i'm gonna go try and find some fungus people brb
Edit: (15 min later) ok I've harassed (politely asked) four different fungus people so we (just me) are really just waiting to see if I was funny enough in their asks to be noticed

Hey Cin, Just checking in to see if I wasn't accidentally blocked. *smile* After marveling at the detail of this post with the Target trip (like someone else mentioned the foreshadowing of both in and outside the store with the little families.) Side note: why is it folks have to get Starbucks at the Target Starbucks? :D Especially in regards to Hope she may have JUST had coffee at home? That was also a cute detail. I also wanted to build on the the kind words from the TheRichantsim. As I have mentioned before, I have been a enthusiast of your work since your S2 modeling / story days. In regards to your talents especially with your carefully crafted pictures and Sims storytelling you were greatly missed I am sure by your OG RRC members when you had to adult for I think a almost a year? But you came back refreshed and look at the result! Even the gameplay pack pitstops have been fun to read. As this world gets crazier, for this introvert it is fun to check in and see what you have wrote for your beloved Drake-Carruthers families and the RRC comment sections. You inspire me to want to follow through on my writing as well.
So, as long as you have it in you to write them into old age and big family trees we love to see the growth and that you continue on as long as you feel there is material to explore. And if you ever do get an Adult Swim, Peacock, or Netflix show of the story I hope they also have an edited version like the TV version of Dave Chappelle so I can watch it. ;)
FRIENDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!! I promise I'm going keep writing until they take me to Shady Acres Old Lady Home and I'm gonna cuss them out so bad that they bring a PC in my room anyway lmfao
Thank you so much!! This means so much to me and apparently we go way back so I better not have accidentally blocked you because I will fall out like a great auntie at a funeral!!
I say it all the time but I'll say it again, this game and us nerds who geek out over it and use it for our creative outlets has saved me so many times. It really is just fun in general but creating complex situations for these little made up characters is going to be something I always come back to, even when life rips my keyboard out of my hands lol!
Appreciate you friend!!

@therichantsim tagged me for this
1. What’s your favorite sims death? I haven't really had many other deaths besides old age. Even if I did I don't think I could choose a favorite way for them to go. I'm gonna steal @mysimsloveaffair's answer lol. She said her favorite death is old age because it means they lived a full life.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis Mix
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? For gameplay, not at all. But for stories I might if it makes sense for the character. For example, Kameron is a very fit character. But in real life, he doesn't workout as much as he used to so he often loses muscle mass. Lean Kam just don't look right, so I used MCCC to freeze his body frame so he doesn't gain or lose weight/muscle.
4. Do you use move objects? Absolutely
5. Favorite mod? MC Command Center closely followed by Relationships and Pregnancy Overhaul by lumpinou. These two keep me on my toes and give you guys all the drama you love lol.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I got the first one when it came out.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? ALIVE!! I will die on this hill lol. Don't get me started!
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Either Kameron or Amina Pope. I've been with Kameron the longest, and he is my dude forever. Amina was special to me even in CAS, and when I finally found the right story for her, she made it so easy. The story wrote itself!
9. Have you made a simself? I've been making simselves since TS2
10. What sim traits did you give yourself? I think she is creative, music lover, loner?
11. What is your favorite EA hair color? I use the neutral black the most, but I really love that new ashy brown. I think it's the 3rd one? It's Tori's hair dye color.
12. Favorite EA hair? Ehhhh...I tend to ignore EA hairs lol
13. Favorite life stage? Young Adult
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Building is not my ministry lol
15. Are you a CC creator? No, but I have recolored some things before.
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? Sure do! (Hey y'all!)
17. What’s your favorite game? That's tough to say. Gameplay-wise, I think I'm still partial to Sims 2. But seeing as I'm addicted to Create-a-Sim, I'd have to say Sims 4 because the other games can't hold a candle to the current genetics and options!
18. Do you have any Sims merch? Yep. I used to have this ginormous mouse pad with that Sims mouse. I also got those notebooks from the shop that came out a few years ago. Now I want to burn them all LOL.
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims? Sure do! My list of videos to make keeps growing. I just need to make the time to do them...and my hair LOL.
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I'm not sure if this question is referring to play style or CAS style so I'll do both. My play style has not changed. I've always enjoyed family play even though that's not all I do. People say I have a sim style and they know a sim is mine when they see them, but I can't see it. I just like making unique sims. Not sure if I've changed or not.
21. What’s your Origin ID? Jes2G
22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? No way I can pick just one...or even 5 lol. Just to name a few... peacemaker, simstrouble, severinka, mclaynesims, jius, wisteriasims, crypticsim, pralinesims, sifix...
23. How long have you had a simblr? I technically joined in 2014 but I wasn't active. I decided to give it a real shot in 2017 and decided to go all in in 2019.
24. How do you edit your pictures? I have a set of actions I created in Photoshop that I run. I used to make different actions for all my stories to give them unique looks. Now I create ReShade presets and let it do the heavy lifting.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? GROWING TOGETHER! It's all I really wanted.
26. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? I don't want or need anything else EXCEPT for all the bugs to be fixed! I'm ready for this version of the game to be over so the modders can make the game great in peace!

introducing my new AU...bricks and border!
Tumblr media
back in april, jetpackbraggin's thumbnail image for caddicarus' resident evil 4 remake stream series sparked something in me - i started developing an idea for a cartoon series about the personas of online reviewers living in a large city. this idea eventually evolved into bricks and border!
bricks and border follows the escapades of the nintendo-obsessed scott (the woz) - an ambitious guy from the midwest who just so happens to be the younger cousin of the hot-headed mayor, and "laz" (caddicarus) - a brit with a mysterious past who is only known by his nickname. together they solve mysteries and get into other shenanigans in their city of oaksport. nothing is off limits!
this is basically a love letter to the entire comedic review genre on youtube. i'm super excited to start working on this!!
more info about the world and its wacky cast of characters will be revealed soon, but first we need to get into some format/release/disclaimer talk...(some of it's pretty important!)
this project will be written in prose format. i'm still deciding whether it will be in first person with the chapters alternating between scott's and laz's viewpoints, or just in third person. i know first person is looked down upon in fanfic, but that's just what my mind immediately goes to because they're youtubers who review things, and it's easy to imagine them narrating their points of view. i'm still deciding that though.
i will draw a lot for it as it's meant to be imagined as a cartoon series - and just like my previous major fandom project (onward the fanmade series), i will be drawing stills to accompany each chapter/episode! and i will gladly negotiate with any lumpy germ or wozzer who would like to contribute a guest still! and yes - you absolutely CAN create fanart/edits/etc. based on this AU! i would love to see them!
the big differences between this and OTFS are that B&B will not be contained in one book/AO3 work. OTFS episodes were written in script format, and episodes were released as one whole chapter. however, for B&B, "episodes" will be separate stories that could range from 3 chapters to 15.
as to when the first story will come out? i can say maybe soon, but i can't say the exact date and time. i'm gonna be a bit easier on myself with this one - as in, i won't be busting my ass to get a chapter out every single week. not only will i not be able to accomplish that with both my summer job consistently exhausting me and my senior year of college on the horizon, but i also don't want to burn myself out and not want to produce anymore content for the project. that's how the original caddicarus show died.
also, just a little disclaimer - this is not RPF. these are heavily fictionalized versions of the youtubers' already exaggerated personas - i mean for god's sake, B&B!scott is the younger cousin of B&B!AVGN, who is the mayor of the fictional city oaksport. lore from scott's and caddy's shows is referenced, and private people in their lives are absolutely not included in this (for example, cerys and the kids will not be mentioned). however, caddy's sister may be included, as she's a public figure.
with all that being said, i'm doing this as responsibly and cautiously as i possibly can - trust me, i previously wrote realistic non-AU caddicarus RPF and i almost got in trouble for it in 2017 when i was a stupid 15 year old who didn't know better. i know the harm RPF can do, which is why this is strictly being labeled as an AU. also i'm just gonna go ahead and say i won't be shipping characters in this. even though they're fictionalized AU versions of the youtubers, i feel uncomfortable shipping them. if you would like to create your own fan content of this AU where you ship the characters, i can't stop you. but i'm not gonna make it canon or anything.
that's pretty much all i have to say, i think. i hope that the caddicarus and scott the woz fans of tumblr will take interest in this!

I wanna practice writing full stories. I'm gonna work on posting some of them soon but you can also send me recommendations or inspiration.
(grammar and quality are not guaranteed)
What I'm willing to write:
• Fanfics about characters I'm familiar with (I'll edit to add more over time) • Hunger games • Stranger things • Scream Franchise • Buffy the vampire slayer • Doctor who • Supernatural • Marvel • Bones • and more, just ask
• About characters above the age of 18 (if romance or sexual situations is involved)
• Xreaders of any gender
• Headcanons and AUs
• No name characters for the sake of pure story prompt (example: My old story please keep in mind I wrote this 6 years ago and hopefully I've grown since then)
• Oc characters: a bit more difficult so I'd prefer either lots of details in the ask or to dm me so I can ask questions
• Lgbt, Poc, Disabilities, and more, I am lgbt and disabled, but if its about a group I am not apart of I will do the research I can to make sure its accurate, not stereotyping, not offensive, etc
• Non romance based stories
• Kink/kinkish dynamics, yes no smut but that doesn't mean no knives or leashes
• Polyamory
Things I won't write:
• Currently I don't want to write smut, I'm not confident in my ability to write about it so I want to practice writing in general before diving into that
• Gore, I will never write full gore, the sweet spot is between the Saw franchise (which I genuinely cannot watch) and the Scream franchise
• Pregnancy
•Real people, even if they have specified they are comfortable with it, I am not
• Underage characters in inappropriate situations
• Incest
• SA
• Bigotry of any sort
• Overall anything I consider immoral (just incase I haven't listed it)
Other notes:
• I am up for criticism at this time as long as its in good faith
• I would like to write about characters/concepts that don't get written about often enough or are underrated
• If your ask, prompt or request is vague then I will run with it, if you want to specify in the future I can make a new version of it (I don't mind rewriting things because this is so I can practice writing but also practice posting publicly and accepting public opinion)
• If I decide to delete any stories, and if my reason for deletion isn't moral, I will give fair warning and you can message so I can send it to you privately if you wish
• I will attempt to update any future multi-part series as much as can but I do have job irl and I tend to do projects like this in spurts
• If I'm start being proud of any specific stories I will cross post them, I will have them linked here so no one thinks I'm stealing my own writing, but if they are posted on accounts not linked here then thats not me and please let me know
If I forgot anything I will edit to add, last updated 02/03/2024

20 questions
tagged by the best bird @dreamcrow!
Tagging you !
1.) how many works do you have on ao3?
11 works, 1 series
2.) what's your total ao3 word count?
46,333
3.) what fandoms do you write for?
Trollhunters/TOA occasionally. Mostly I write original stuff off Ao3 so this may not be the most exciting thing lol
4.) what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Tales of Arcadia: In Search of Home
A week in the Woods
Glimte
Wait
Parenting 101 BC
everything is TOA except for glimte, which is an original work you can read on Ao3 OR you can pwyw for the final edited version of it over on gumroad :3c
5.) do you respond to comments? why or why not?
yeah! i try to at least thank people for commenting if I have nothing else to say
6.) what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It's not an ENDING per se but Parenting 101 BC has the saddest chapter that's been posted I think?
7.) what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think Wait probably? If only because a Week in the Woods is nothing but fluff
8.) do you get hate on fics?
nothing that I've seen so far. If there's any hate my way, it's probably a vagueblog somewhere that I haven't seen.
9.) do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Meh. Like I don't go out of my way to avoid writing it, I just don't often write anything where it feels necessary personally?
10.) do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?
not legit crossovers but I love imagining my various OCs in the silliest possible situations. My favorite remains a spider librarian in centaur.world as a spidertaur
11.) have you ever had a fic stolen?
not my fic. I had an ooooold rp group stolen twice, but beyond that I haven't seen anything reposted and claimed. If there's something out there please let me know!
12.) have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! there's a fantastic group of russian folks who liked to read In Search of Home when I was updating it. If i start it up again, it's gonna be for them <3
13.) have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not in recent history nope
14.) what's your all-time favorite ship?
Honestly I don't think I have one? I like imagining various blorbos together but nothing stands out to me off the top of my head.
15.) what's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I want so badly to finish In search of home, but the motivation....the muse...they are away never to be seen again...
16.) what are your writing strengths?
scene setting and character building. Action and dialogue can sometimes feel stilted, but I'm really good at giving the narration a strong voice and making strong, 3D characters :3
17.) what are your writing weaknesses?
pacing and plot. I get lost in the weeds, or I dont go into the metaphorical grass at all, and it's so hard to find that middle ground. Fortunately for fanfic you don't need to worry about pacing quite as much as you would for more traditionally-written stories with a planned beginning middle and end
18.) thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I love it honestly. I threw in some spanish here and there for a bilingual character, and I think it adds some authenticity when you know the language. But if you don't, there's nothing wrong with just writing it in the language you do speak and just indicating that it's in a different language.
19.) first fandom you wrote for?
When I was 9 years old I was introduced to na.ruto and made my first OC. nothing was ever the same.
Although my first FIC fic was a H.arry P.otter fic when I was 11, posted on quizilla. Anyone remember Quizilla? That shit rocked. i loved those interactive fics.
20.) favorite fic you've ever written?
Honestly In Search of Home. It's just fun and silly and feels like a good continuation of my version of the series finale.

Hey! I’m new to your blog and just read the happiness story you wrote about Spence’s tummy and I was wondering (if you’re taking requests, if not you can just ignore this) if you can do either hc or a full story about Spence feeling insecure about his tummy (like in happiness story) but with a plus size SO. Like when he starts thinking she’ll leave him she reminds him of all the times he’s supported her when she felt insecure and how he helped her feel better about herself. Only if you’re comfortable writing it of course, I don’t wanna put any pressure on you or anything. I completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable writing about this, I just thought I’d ask. Hope you have a great day/night/whatever time zone you’re in. Love your writing! :)
You got it anon! I didn't have the time for a whole new piece so here's a slightly edited blurb based on the last fic!
+++
“If I take it easy you might not want me anymore!” he blurted.
“You’re worried I won’t want you?” you asked, tilting your head. "Because you've gained weight?"
He nodded, sheepish.
"Spence, listen to me. I'm not going to stop loving you because you have a tummy. I mean, I have a tummy. I'm fat. That's never stopped you from loving me, right?"
"What? No!" His eyes went wide, frantic to dissuade you of the idea. Not that you had to be convinced, you already knew the answer from years of experiencing his affection. "No, you're perfect. You're perfect. But I feel like I'm changing. And what if... you don't like those changes?"
You grabbed his hands, stroking your thumbs over them in a soothing motion. "I've changed too. My body has changed. My mind has changed. And our life together has changed so much. But you've always been there. Even when I'm insecure, even when I don't feel like I'm lovable, you're right there to cheer me up or make me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. Babe, you've loved me in every iteration. And I love every version of you."
And it was true. You loved all of him. You loved the man who treated every inch of you like you was something sacred, who loved even the parts of you that you didn't always like. Spencer called you from worlds away and kissed you like nothing else mattered and made you smile like nobody else ever had. He held you tight and never made you feel like you were too much or not enough, and anyone who tried to say otherwise was immediately shut down. He was just so good to you and you couldn't stand hearing him be so mean to himself.
"We're going to change. That's okay. I want to change with you, though. I want us to get old together and have a bunch of babies together and live our whole lives together. And I'm gonna love you through all of it. Whether you look like a pipe cleaner with eyes or you have a dad bod, that's the one thing that's never gonna change."
Spencer gave you a weak, shy smile. "Yeah?"
"Yeah. Come to think of it," you added, winding your arms around his soft waist. "How about you let me show you just how much I love this version of you."

So I used to be the lead writer for Friday Night Funkin’ Minus.
In my spare time, I have been taking the old script I wrote for the mod and rewriting it. I'm now free to write the full story the way I had originally envisioned it without having to worry about length.
I posted this on twitter a while ago. It’s the tutorial through week 3 script for Friday Night Funkin’ Minus. It only has Beta, Blue, and Mean right now. Golden BF has been written up to week 4, but I was gonna release a new document that includes him in the week 4 script update. That will be releasing soon. It’s actually been done for a while, but the people I sent it to kinda...forgot to look it over for me. Progress slowed for a  while I dealt with a burnout and went to work on other projects to combat it. I wrote a small short story for minus that I will post later. After I finish the current Minus short story i am working on, I'll go back to the main script. Beta week 5 is already done and Mean was in progress last time I worked on it
Feel free to send me questions you have about Minus, I love to answer them. Until Iago states otherwise, what I have written is the old canon and how the story goes. Even if he strikes down this canon, I'll just call it “Old Minus” or “Scrapped Minus” and it’ll go on to be it’s own thing. I had planned out this whole story until after week 7. Like I said: this is how the story was set to go before this version got cancelled in early 2022.
Anyway, enough rambling. The link below leads to the google doc that has the current released rough draft of Minus. Let me know if you like it. There is more coming. I promise. Much like I told Iago when he cancelled the first project in early 2022, I ain’t letting this story die.

Reading This Week
I am back home and reading like my life depends on it! I'm going to start working through articles I have saved to my computer bookmarks and such
Abandoned:
Pregnant Butch by A.K. Summers i tried! i've been meaning to try reading this for ages! but i got turned off by goodreads reviews saying theres a transphobic screed in the middle, and then just not clicking with the storytelling style.... oh well...
Finished:
The Secret to Superhuman Strength by Alison Bechdel (colored by Holly Rae Taylor) I kinda stayed up later than I technically meant to finish reading this. Bechdel really is a fantastic memoirist
Started & Finished:
As Yet Unsent by Tamsyn Muir tbh, kinda wish i'd read this before Nona so that I would have a tad more context for like the connections between the other House characters. but this was pretty great as a quick read, and really enlightening for the inner life of a character that I never really cared about before
"I wrote a story for a friend" by Julian Gough this is the personal essay by the guy that wrote the Minecraft End Poem about the trouble surrounding its creation and copyright. I find it kinda funny when he's like "the capitalism game makes me sad bc it gets in the way of the art game and the friendship game.... but there's nothing inherently wrong with the capitalism game!" he's got the spirit but ain't quite there yet yknow? anywho. one day I will actually beat Minecraft and read the story in its proper context!
What Did You Eat Yesterday? Vol. 1-5 by Fumi Yoshinaga, translated by Maya Rosewood (1-3) and Yoshito Hinton (4-5) now I did not intend for reading this manga to be a christmas season read, but somewhere in the beginning of vol 2 or 3 it was just christmas season within the manga itself!! anyway this is a pretty chill slice of life manga, half cooking/recipes, half daily life for a middle aged gay couple in 2000s Tokyo, and it's been a fun easy read
Nectar edited by Tab Kimpton & Harry-Anne Bentley most thoughts remain in my private journal for this one, but I can say that kinda like the last one only like 2 or 3 of the stories within actually like. worked for me on an artistic style level. still delighted that this exists
Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 2-3 by Bisco Hatori, translated by Kenichiro Yagi while i'm enjoying the nostalgia of reading the manga version of a childhood anime, i find the panels of this really difficult to read? also this is the last volume available through my library so i probably won't read more for a while
Decolonizing Queer Games and Play from First Person Scholar, edited by Khee Hoon Chan:
Editorial by Khee Hoon Chan A Boy is a Gun: Weaponizing Black Gender in Video Games by Oluwatayo Adewole Unmaking and Undoing: A Trans* Reading of Katamari Damacy by Julie Fukunaga Interviw with Caro Asercion by Olivia Popp
working my way through articles that i've saved to my bookmarks bar! i absolutely want to check out more stuff like this
Masters in this Hall by K.J. Charles now THIS is a deliberate Christmas read for me, as it's the surprise un-advertised Christmas novella from one of my favorite romance authors! it was fun and funnily enough, most of took place in the days following Christmas. it was fun to see Jerry again (this time as a side character), and kinda made me want to go reread Any Old Diamonds since it's been a couple years now
Started:
Secrets Typed in Blood by Stephen Spotswood YES YES YES i am only a few chapters in at time of writing, but i am so happy to be back with my delightful butch private detective duo. i've been waiting for this inpatiently ever since i finished the second book in the series and i'm so glad to be back to get my historical mystery fix
Hen Fever by Olivia Waite
this is another surprise christmas novella from a favorite histrom author and the cover is absolutely Delightful. i'm gonna try and savor it but i make no promises
