The Purge but everyone stays at home bc they're scared except Gen z who go out bc they have no will to live and when they notice it's all empty they take the chance to party in the street and be queer in public spaces
(Fourteen-year old boys ransacking Gucci and running around the street in stolen 5000 dollar dresses)
(Trans kids taking over the deserted malls and cheaply recreating 90's music videos)
(The autistics climbing buildings)
(Older teen lesbian weddings in the empty church)
(The Minecraft kids make makeshift spears and go hunt boars. They manage to hunt zero boars but have a hell of a good time)
(Teen girls forsake gender-imposed dress code and wear whatever. Some people are just naked cuz it's warm)
(At least 1 mormon church is set ablaze)

"These magnet clothes are expensive."
"I know, it's a pain. But they'll make your full moons so much easier, trust me."
"But none of these are even fun."
"Look, sweetie, it's very new accessibility clothing. They're working on it, alright? This is mostly being marketed towards adult humans still."
"This is stupid. I'm getting along fine with stretchy pants and snaps."
"It won't be long before you'll start getting full transformations. A little stretch won't be enough when you stop being bipedal. And snaps are better than buttons and zippers, but they're very difficult with claws."
"Heidi's clothes have velcro."
"If you want to spend every waxing moon cleaning your own fur out of every single patch of velcro on your clothes, knock yourself our, honey."
"...do they at least have something in black?"
"If they don't I'll dye them for you."

The absolute least consequential debate you can pull from Dungeon Meshi is "Does Kabru get laid?" and I'm gonna come down on the funniest possible side by saying no. I think it's a misdirection like everything else about him. And that's hilarious to me.

You know those humans are space orcs post? Yeah, So, like. What if that...but, with a fantasy twist?? Urban Fantasy Twist? Vampire: "So, human. Please explain to me what a blood bank is?" Human: "Oh, it's kinda like a place where people go and donate blood for medical reasons." Vampire: "Humans willingly donate blood??" Human: "Yeah, people need blood to live so, sometimes blood banks have these things called blood drives where they drive around in a huge truck. They gather somewhere with medical supplies and chairs to donate blood. After you donate blood you get a snack and some juice plus a sticker!" Vampire: "...Gather in one place...and GIVE their blood away??"
Human: "Stop looking at me like that, i can see you drooling from here."
And thus, this conversation sparked another conversation to get the vampire elders to bargain to humans to donate some blood to the vampires in the community...it was a weird town hall meeting that day.

Something I'm wondering about - for us fantasy writers, how many write in a different subgenre that's not their favorite? It's a silly musing since genres and subgenres are, in the words of Captain Hector Barbossa, less like rules and more like guidelines, but I'm still interested.
Only including those genres because a.) those are my favorite types of fantasy, b.) we got limited space here, c.) I don't want to search for every subgenre of fantasy there is.
I wouldn't really say I have a favorite, but if I had to chose I'd probably go with Urban Fantasy. While I write a lot of that, I haven't released any of it. So the closest poll option for me would be Option 4 lol

Im so tired of Wizards being all robes and fancy towers and posh accents. Give me the trailer park wizard. Give me years of experience passed down around a mouthful of chew with a beer in hand. Give me hand rolled cigarettes and homebrewed potions. Give me rough hands and tan lines and thick accents. Give me intelligence that doesn’t fit the rich white mold and is cherished all the same

When you have a clear idea of how you want your OCs to be in the future but
If you place them in Chicago, you’ll have the constant dread of your old d.resden files fanfic haunting you
If you place them in Columbus/Cincinnati, you’re subjecting them to Ohio
If you place them in NYC, you’re doing a cliche
But if you place them in Boston, you’ll feel like you’re betraying the Midwest aesthetic of the project

can we see Selma! my girl deserves more attention (and one belly too full of food)
Tumblr media
kskdjdks missed the parenthetical of this ask oops! Anyway.
Selma is Kalila’s mom/Idrees’ first wife (peep that 90s maternity wear lol). I don’t talk too much abt her bc I used to think she died tho now I think she might just be in like. Miami. Doing her thing.
I think this universe has witches, which I think I’m basing in homeopathy/phytotherapy with some fantasy sauce on it. Historically they would have occupied the same niche as midwives in the western world. Selma is a witch, however she’s Afro-Cuban so I think her work is influenced by Santeria in a holistic kinda way & she’s an Obá/high priestess also.
to be clear I’m not fictionalizing Santeria, which I think would be rude. I’m saying that Selma is a witch (fictional) and also practices Santería (very real) bc of her ethnicity:)

why are the 4star medics so good i just read chestnut's profile and. this precious man. the wear and tear of being a doctor getting to him but then just. recentering himself, and still with doubt in heart, deciding to keep going. why are the 4star medics so good tumblr user aresmarked?
...y'know anon, i was thinking of a joking answer (they're all alters in waiting) but i think everyone has At Least one 4* medic they hold in their heart because they are real in a way most of the higher ranked ones cannot be. Real, in a, 'we could be doctors and scientists and paramedics and nurses like them' way. people who know well their limits and expertise, and hone themselves everyday to try helping just one more, one more person. Chestnut's attempt to come to terms with how much cannot be prevented, Sussurro's exhaustion in her operator record... all grounded.

Ditches and Spiders
God, his forearms ITCHED.  Ugh – they sang a horrible siren song, to which the only answer was the raking of claws, the bloody contact of skin and nails. Or whatever. He clenched his fists, twisting them, rolling his wrists, and watching the taut, lean, yet somewhat gaunt muscle flexing under his scarred skin. Calixte hated the scars so, so much. They weren’t ugly, contorting, or shredding, and they weren’t spirals of thorns or carved spines. They were “beautiful”, twisting, mending – spirals of petals and curving stems. Calixte always hated the mix of lily flowers curling up his arms in a monotone white of scar tissue. They made him sick. His entire lunch – half of a white chocolate granola bar – tickled the very top of his throat, acidically ghosting over the roof of his mouth. He ought to practice Magic again.
He applied the Sepal Balsam. Almost half the container coated his forearms thickly, massively surmounting the blood below it. Was that... wait... quadruple- no, pentuple the recommended dose? Perhaps that was why he could feel his pain fade into such intense numbness so quickly that in mere seconds he could not feel his forearms at all – and could, in real-time, watch the open wounds, cuts, gashes, and lacerations riddling his forearms and climbing up his bicep close, and twist at themselves, forming sickeningly intricate floral shapes, layering onto those already there. What a disgusting toll he has to pay, really. And, sure, he could always not push himself so much or just wait for himself to heal, but how would he get better, then? The best around don’t just rest. No pain, no gain, after all! He just has to push himself a little harder, surely...!
The gloves contracted around his arms. They squeezed and cried at the Magic pouring into them, pushing and lashing at his flesh. The gloves wrung his arms, and blood dripped out from their hems at his biceps. All for... him.
The bouquet strained in his arms. The paper tore open at the pressure pushed into it, flowers spilling around his flesh. Ditch and spider lilies both wrapped around his forearms, slipping from his embrace one by one. All from... him.
“Are you proud, dad?”
