I'm actually starting to be of the opinion that nick is the more manipulative mastermind one out of the lot once he's suspicious or hurt enough which means Boston is in some serious dangerous waters and I can't wait to see him taste some of his own medicine right back. I was of the belief nick was going to just fall apart in Boston's scheming cunning hands before but it actually seems like he's going to use some of Bostons own tactics to put him in the uncomfortable position for once.

Something I've wondered since the trailer is that everyone eventually finds out about Boston and Top but how? Whose responsible for making Boston face those consequences? I think it genuinely might be Nick with Sands help. Which would also explain why nick is upset at sand for something he's done to Boston which makes nick feel "embarrassed" and sand is so angry when he tells nick that Boston is a shit person anyway. He clearly has the context Boston doesn't value anyone's feelings let alone nicks by next episode and that's only episode four. So what on earth is Boston going to have done by further down the line to nick that makes sand that upset?

I'm tempted to believe that because nick wants to play a long game with Boston after finding out about Top, he starts getting suckered in again and Sand, being Sand, isn't about to let that happen to his friend so he reminds Boston that nick is more inexperienced or something which causes nick to feel like he's lost a bit of the equal footing he's gained through sitting pretty and silent with Boston's manipulations to Boston's face but in reality doing things like bugging cars, snooping into his personal belongings etc. All that confidence nick has gained by being sly and now he feels stupid and inadequate again.

let me preface this by saying im not judging this lady at all, this was just a really funny experience i want to share. but the last time i went to the dispensary there was this lady there with her husband and their newborn baby and she was like way oversharing her life story to the person next to her and im nosy so i was listening in and 1) when i say her baby was newborn i mean she literally got out of the hospital that morning and immediately drove to the dispensary after being released 2) she said she has a medical marijuana prescription because in her own words and yes im quoting here, "im autistic as shit" 3) she said the only reason she brought her newborn baby to the dispo this time was because the last time she went to the dispo she was heavily pregnant and the workers had to deny her services and said they will refuse to serve her until shes not pregnant, so she brought her baby as proof to tell the workers "see im not pregnant anymore!"

Ugh ok so firstly thank you so so much for the ask and secondly sorry this was like a dissertation XD Let me know if you want more specific thoughts on Misty, this was more Lore lol

She would definitely struggle with being on the outside of everything- and it would be made the hardest by the fact that Van is both everyones favourite AND also the one who enjoys picking on her the most. Like in canon we see Van keeping up the mean girl bs into season 3 for no reason other than amusing herself and it's clear that she isnt taking it super seriously, she's not like 'Im going to bully her bc I hate her!', its like 'Im The Funny One and its funny when I score off Misty so I will and who cares how it makes her feel' bc like...Van is the funny one! She's nice! everyone likes her! How can she POSSIBLY be a bully in a way that matters? Especially when she jokes with everyone. Except bc she DOESNT like Misty like she likes the others, it kind of hits differently. And I dont think Misty exactly realises this herself, that someone who isnt your friend teasing you is different to a friend doing it: like to her, Van teasing her means they ARE friends. So there would be I think a growing frustration from Nat that Van cant just leave Misty alone and be nice to her and eventually she'd call her out on it and Van would be REALLY defensive, like what do you mean, I'm just joking! And she'd call Tai out on it too, bc Tai I think sees herself as beyond mean girls high school shit so she closes her eyes to the fact that Van really isnt. I think Nat would try sublty telling Van to back off and when that doesnt work, she'd snap: like she'd see Van making yet another comment to Misty and maybe getting everyone to hide from her so they dont have to play with her and she'd call everyone together when Misty was out and ask what the fuck is wrong with them. I think what would really hit home for Van would be Nat asking why Van doesnt make comments about her too- bc yeah Misty is the weird kid but Nat was also the weird kid, bc she was the poor girl with the abusive parents. And Van would be kind of silently horrified bc to her, ofc its different but Nat would make her see that it just...kind of isnt. Nat would also point out how much Misty has done for them all and I think from guilt, theyd all try being nicer to Misty, and from that, theyd be like 'Hm ok...yeah shes actually fine to hang out with-' and perhaps also realise how Mistys overeagerness thats so annoying is really just her being so so desperate for the friendship she never ever got. I think Nat would make a point of playing with Misty and including her and hanging out with her and perhaps make a subtle point of including/not including people based on how nice they are to Misty. Like oh you're gonna exclude Misty from your game? Cool, Misty and I are going to the park just us. You're gonna not give her space on the couch? Well I'm definitely not up for cuddling with you while watching cartoons- watch with someone else. And bc Nat is just....so nice and good, it really brings home to everyone how shit it feels to be excluded by people you just want to be friends with.

Spoilers below for the ending of Season 2 of Arcane, be advised.

We can be mad about Jayvik dying and not getting an absolute confirmation (though some may argue it is pretty clear) .

Some can be mad that there wasn't enough verbally said to add that romantic nature to CaitVi (once again, some may believe they have done more than enough)

IT ISNT A CONTEST!

I personally think we are fortunate to have an ending that truly feels complete in some way. It was a good ending overall for everyone expectation wise.

Most of the time we get a physical show of love to confirm anything gay whereas lesbians often say some soft confirmation of love to be 'official' but this gave what media needed.

Lesbians showing a very physical and verbal show of their love while men are having their soft confirmation through verbalizing their love.

It's wonderful, even if you are unsatisfied by the ending for your ship (if you have one) that's why we have fanfiction, to explore what could have been.

You got a problem with the finale, write a what-if spinoff or write how it should have ended or what happened after the official ending.

Stop comparing Jayvik, CaitVi, and Time bomb. It's a waste of your time when you could be writing what you wished would happen in fanfic.

Be happy that the ending is something you can work with, be happy the possibility exists with a solid world built to utilize.

Heck, don't like the world? Build an AU (alternate universe) for them! Make them coffee shop owners, have them be military personnel, make them crazy European tourists!

Do something constructive and add to your Fandom instead of tearing down someone else's.

Getting mad at someone else's ship or flaunting about your own having a better ending is a waste of time and just literally detrimental to the show itself. Respect Arcane and what it was able to accomplish without push back, it is able to walk firmly because previous shows and their small steps.

So, in short, behave yourself. This may be the internet but your words stay forever. Don't try to bolster the status of your ship by pulling down someone else's.

If you feel called out by this, evaluate your recent behavior.

If you feel offended by this, really think about why you feel this way, because it probably isn't because of my language.

Yes yes, I know comparing shows is how we understand and make progress, but I am specifically talking about unhelpful dissertations or memes that specify a ship.

It's fine to write a logical explanation of why you prefer a different ship. It's absolutely fine to explain how something could have been better or evaluate the show and what it has done and could do better.

What's not fine is bashing it because your ship didn't have what you deem a good ending.

Not all people have good endings, not all characters will achieve their good ending despite how good they may be. That's simply the truth of reality and sometimes an author wants their story to mirror their idea of truth.

Respect the show and the work people put in it, and respect that someone else's joy does not deserve your anger just out spite.

by making the high into the low, it takes away sooo much of what makes high art complex and multifacted and provocative so it isn't as impactful. Likewise removing elements of camp lowness in the arts to "elevate" them makes them so much less engaging and entertaining. For example, when every expensive TV show attempts the label of prestige, it can come off silly and pretentious. some people say we've exited the prestige or peak tv era and entered the reboot/spinoff age:

arguably, the walking dead, game of thrones, succession, bridgerton, severance, and white lotus were part of the golden era. But those are all either finished or pumping out abysmal later seasons and terrible spinoffs.

So can they successfully manipulate a high (or just costly) art into being low without the genre savviness to execute kitchy camp absurdity? I think Riverdale, Now Apocalypse, and American Horror Story (et al) pulled off expensive camp well. And it isn't tv, but Jordan Peele is brilliant at bridging high and low. I don't think it's a coincidence that I think the BEST of high-low balanced TV are also campy horror series:

And it isnt only TV -- graffiti, prints, and handmade archive zines don't need to be treated the same as European oil paintings. In fact, putting a book or any handheld art object behind a glass case can consequentially mitigate a LOT of its importance and impact. the best curatorial display method for something like this:

is NOT only a glass case on a white pedestal. when me and my team curated a show for renaissance book leaflets a few years ago, we made pdf transcripts on a qr code and uploaded our readings into an audio tour. our museum wasn't well-funded, but we found a way to record free mp3s through our phones. the viewers couldn't touch the books, but they could read them. people want to elevate the perceived importance of an object without contemplating whether that worsens it.

when you put kanye's ugly streetwear on the runway with couture, then it is no longer street fashion. art historians don't need to write their dissertations on cartooning and comic book arts (though visual culture theorists do!) Rap music isn't courtly intellectual chamber music, which I listen to for relaxing at home all day or at work. but, I will also blast Megan on my airpods max to hype myself up to be a bad bitch on my morning commute. high and low art forms are functional! they are made for communicating to a specific purpose and audience. And I don't want to understate the white saviorism component to the "elevate everything low" trend. very much akin to the early jesuit missionaries' valorous and noble pursuit to save those poor uncivilized african souls, there has always been a Westernized context to high art and a markedly "urban" slant to low genres.

If you are going to exhaust death of the author to underpin every critical idea you sprout, at least make sure the theory is grounded in some sort of reasonable or intellectual curiosity to explore the boundaries dividing high-low and not in a paranoid response to repair an artform that was never broken. Respect the balance! <3
