Ok this might be an unpopular opinion but someones gotta say it...
Cassandra is a better Casey Jones than Casey Jr
Ive gotta be honest... i think casey jr is a kinda mid and i dont particularly think all the fanfare about him is warranted LOL
I want to note real quick that i dont DISLIKE him! He is a good character who only got as much development that a 2 hour movie could give him, and he filled and satisfied the role he needed to play in the movie, but the way the fandom latched onto him over the og casey... kinda makes me raise a brow
(Essay/rant about the prioritization of casey jr vs og casey under the cut :P)
Tumblr media
Fandom spaces love a traumatized boy from the future, and believe me i do too! But the amount of attention given to casey jr after being revealed as casey is a wild amount compared to the amount of attention the original casey gets. Maybe its just me getting into rottmnt after the movie aired, but this seems a little baised?
Not only that, but the amount of... idk the best way i can think to describe it is infantilization of casey jrs character isnt helping my opinion of him. It feels like most content surrounding him babify him and reduce him only to his trauma post movie. I understand that it can be interesting to explore his trauma now that he no longer lives in the literal apocalypse, but it feels strange to see him reduced to someone who cant get around on his own and lives with the turtles when the original pitch for the movies ending has him leave to explore the world, which i feel is very appropriate for him and wish they had kept it in
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the movie when april shows us where the og casey has been and what shes been doing throughout the film, it tells us that casey is friends april which in theory, shouldve also shown us that she and the turtles are friends to some degree as well and should already have her place established within the group as this generations casey jones
Tumblr media
However the final shot of the movie is a group shot of the family+casey jr, which subtlety implies that he's the new casey instead, and that this is the main cast moving forward (should it move forward *sob*). While both caseys being considered in the main cast could be true, it does strike me as a little odd that this was the final direction the rot team decided on for the official ending versus the scrapped ending, especially because it complicates the pre-established canon. It wouldve been one thing if our og casey was a different character, but that isnt the case.. y... (<_<)
Tumblr media
Casey jr is an interesting character though! And i can understand why he appeals to fans, especially as his character post movie is fun to expand on aswell as developing his past involved with future versions of the main5, but one (me lol) could argue that the og casey is just as interesting of a character to delve into as she was involved, when you boil it down, a cult most of her life, and that concept, as well as the guilt she could hold for working with the foot and releasing the shredder, ontop of trying to befriend and gain the turtles and aprils trust are also intriguing concepts that could be explored, yet finding content that mentions her at all beyond her relation to casey jr is scarce
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It feels as though shes been reduced to a background character within the fandom despite being a reoccuring character for the entire show.
For the two seasons of rottmnt that we did get, we are shown just what kind of character casey is and her possible dynamics with the turtles+april. Shes passionate and powerful and beyond determined to prove her worth and reach her goals. Shes also playful and reckless, a side that fits well with the main cast and their humor and, if the show was given more time, couldve developed naturally as the newest addition to the family as most caseys are. I could also argue that her characterization fits that of previous caseys more than casey jrs does (though i will admit that considering the plot of the movie, i cant positively say what hed be like outside of life or death scenarios, but i also cant imagine hes going to make a 180 in personality without it feeling jarring and ooc)
Tumblr media
Now, i wont ignore the fact that her arc was cut horribly short and her involvement in the movie was quite literally a brief mention, both of which definitely play into how under appreciated she is. But at the same time it almost feels like everyone, including the show runners, have willingly pushed her aside for this new boy version to fill the role of casey jones. Hell, even when you look up rottmnt casey jones, cassandra barely shows up. Its casey jr which further proves my point
Idk, TLDR im pretty disappointed that despite being a consistent character for the entire show, no one seems to write or acknowledge her and if she is mentioned, its only relevant to push forward casey jrs character development or a brief cameo. As much as i do love casey jr (i can feel like hes mid and i can like him!) it seems like most people forget about the original casey, or favor casey jr in her place and she deserves more love and credit than shes given!

can we have a blurb about reader returning to school and being cornered by jason? 🙃
so funny enough i almost wrote this in the original post but i decided not to last minute so this is perfect. i hope you enjoy this darling! i wrote this in one sitting so just let me know if i fucked something up lol.
tw: language, a/o/b dynamics, unwarranted touching (not assault)
word count: 2.1k
Waking up just as the sun peeked behind the huge oak trees in the yard, you woke to an empty bed for the first time in days, Eddie returning to his place before you both made your return to school.
Nerves had kept you tossing and turning, wondering who knew or who would notice. You felt different, physically and mentally, and when Eddie came back from presenting, most figured it out, although an alpha’s transformation is more drastic visually.
The warmth of your sheets comforted you as you stared at the popcorn ceiling, making shapes from the ridges. The birds outside chirped to each other, rustling by and landing on a branch. Your smile at the peaceful scene was cut short by your alarm clock, jumping out of your skin before slamming it to snooze.
Applying makeup with shaky hands and putting on a blue, cotton dress with sneakers, you tried to regulate your fears before they got the best of you. Grabbing a snack on your way out, you took a long exhale once on the opposing side of your front door, wishing you could hide for a bit longer.
Your stride gained momentum as you neared Hawkins High, grateful to see Robin being dropped off by Steve, rolling her eyes at something he said from the inside of his BMW. She caught your gaze and let a grin spread across her freckled cheeks, signaling you over as Steve drove away.
“Hi Rob, thanks for your help last week.” You said as you approached her, feeling blood flood to your cheeks at your compromised state. She snorted, swinging an arm around your shoulder, her jean jacket rubbing against your bare arm.
“Anytime, just owe me a movie night this week since it didn’t happen on Friday.” She compromised, making you laugh and agree, knowing she didn’t say this with accusation. The tiled halls were bustling with students, not taking much note of who was coming in and out of the doorway.
Thankful for the busyness, you felt a significant weight being lifted from your shoulders, but still kept your eye out for Eddie. He was notoriously late, so you figured it would be awhile till he returned.
Robin rambled about her movie night with Steve and how he hogged the popcorn and burnt it, something you always managed not to do. As she continued her rant, you saw a quick glance of a basketball player whose name you couldn’t recall. He quickly disappeared into the sea of teenagers.
Trying to shake it off, you figured it was awkward eye contact, knowing you usually cowered away with awkwardness yourself at that. You bid goodbye to Robin as you entered your first period, taking a seat at the end of the middle section, attempting to garner as little attention as possible.
As class went on, you could feel sets of eyes lingering longer than usual, blaming it on your heightened nerves and that it would all calm down soon enough. The math equations scribbled in your notebook were barely legible, foot bouncing beneath your metal seat until the first bell rang.
Grabbing your bag, you took one step out the door until a hand grabbed you, yanking you into their chest. While the action startled you, the recognition was instant as you saw his curls, smelled his potent aura, and the lips pressed to your cheek.
“Hey pretty girl.” Eddie greeted, intertwining your fingers as you both descended down the hall. He was in an Ozzy Osbourne tour shirt from ‘84, a pair of black ripped jeans, and bracelets on his wrists with one dangling cross earring in his right ear. You wanted to bite him.
“Hi Eds.” You smiled, quickly wrinkling your nose, “Did you skip first period?” Your question made him scoff, shooting air as if he couldn’t care less. While you did care about his education and making sure he graduated this year, you both knew this past week was eventful to say the least.
Forcing glares to anyone giving less than a smile or not looking at all, Eddie was on high alert with you on his arm, his chest puffing in authoritative nature. He had the urge to stay by you in every class, but knew the teachers would either give him detention or kick him out.
So he dropped you off at every class, racing back when class finished to repeat the action. The only time he didn’t was when they were going to lunch as the cafeteria was right between both rooms, a bit of distance between it.
The fluorescent lights felt more intense as your exhaustion settled, rubbing your upper brow as another scientific theory was explained poorly by the P.E. teacher who was brought in to substitute. As he began to describe Newton’s laws, the bell signaled lunch, your stomach grumbling as if on cue.
Filing in with the array of overly energized underclassmen and chronically stressed upperclassmen, you went in the direction of the lunch room until someone called your name. Walking to the side to fully turn around, you didn’t see anyone looking your way besides for quick glances, making your brows furrow. As soon as your back turned, you heard it again, this time closer until a majority of the students were down the walkway, getting their daily dose of cold meatloaf.
“Well hi there sweetheart.” You heard a chilling voice, not belonging to the one shouting your name previously, only to notice Jason and two of his teammates beside him. Their looks made you feel two feet tall, biting the inside of your lip to avoid crying which made you even more frustrated.
The influx of emotions were too much, if this would’ve happened weeks ago, you’d just walked away with no comment. However, your feet now felt cemented in place as he loomed over you, a few strands of his blonde hair falling out of place.
His friend backed away, continuing a conversation aside from you as Jason smiled, leaning against the lockers beside you. His eyes sparkled with mischievousness, unable to read his direct intentions.
“So a little birdie told me you had a life changing weekend…” He trailed off, his fingers trailing against your elbow, “I could take care of you, would never have to lift a finger or be scared ever again. I would keep you safe.”
Swallowing the lump building in your throat, you could only muster up a whisper, barely recognizing your voice. “Eddie takes care of me.”
This made him chuckle, rolling his eyes as he grabbed your arm lightly, his golden skin warm against your tricep. His rough fingers brushed against your dainty dress, feeling much too thin at the moment, making the tears come to your waterline.
“I could truly take care of you, want you to be my omega,” He cooed, his free hand catching the stray tear, “No need to cry, I’ve got you. I’ll drive you home today.”
As he finished his sentence, you felt your feet be lifted from the figurative quicksand,  turning on your heels. A burn blossomed within your ribcage providing you a shortness of breath as you wiped away the dampness on your cheeks. Breezing through the now empty lunch line, you bought a lemonade and treat from the end cart, the older woman giving you a look. One that meant you better eat something better tomorrow, you smiled at her in appreciation, knowing her for years.
Eddie was looking amongst the crowd before he met your sight, shoulders relaxing visibly as you walked to him, sitting at the seat saved beside him. The boys of Hellfire gave you a kind smile and a hi before going back to their campaign talk.
“Where’s your lunch?” Eddie questioned as you popped open the plastic covering the small rice krispy treat. You shrugged, taking a bite of the sugary snack as Eddie began quietly reminding you how important it was for you to eat well, particularly after heats.
The anxiety didn’t leave as you took a sip of your drink, nearly choking on it as you saw the basketball team sitting at their typical table, including their MVP. His touch taunted you, his voice grating as he spewed false promises, but nothing felt worse than seeing his false smile and almost trusting him.
You didn’t like Jason, but the nature aspect of alphas and omegas was irrefutable in the beginning stages. He was telling you what you wanted to hear, things Eddie didn’t have to directly vocalize because you already knew he was your alpha, knowing he would provide for you.
“What’s wrong? You’re scared.” Eddie interjected your psychoanalysis as you twisted a sticky piece of puffed rice in between your fingertips. Shaking your head, you tried listening to Gareth describing their next attack, but Eddie reigned you back in.
“Hey, talk to me, please.” He whispered, his hand grabbing your knee in a comforting manner, the best feeling you had experienced all day. Yet the whiplash of feelings made the tears resurface, opening your lips to speak before clamping them shut and scurrying out of the lunch room.
You didn’t look back as you went straight to the parking lot, inhaling the fresh air intensely as if you hadn’t breathed in a minute. The sound of sneakers followed behind you, feeling Eddie behind you mentally until his hand reached your lower back.
“It’s nothing.” You muttered, wiping your black stained tears, sniffling. It was naive to believe you could hide things from each other anymore as every interaction was more intense than the last, feeling your bodies mush into one cohesive response system.
He didn’t need to edge you on, only raising his eyebrows and staring down at you. Damn those soft, brown eyes that always made you melt, enticing you with every blink. He hugged you close to his chest, hearing his heartbeat evenly.
“Jason talked to me in the hallway,” His body instinctively tensed, “S-said he wanted to be my alpha, drive me home, and take care of me. I don’t want that, you’re my alpha.” Nuzzling deeper against his band tee, his jaw clenched in an attempt to reign in his anger.
“He’s not going to lay a hand on you, baby doll, but let me pay him a visit.”
Tumblr media
The final bell rang to signal everyone out for the day, escaping as fast as you could for the gravel filled parking lot. You waited near the steps for Eddie as cars sped off, blasting the newest Billy Joel or Soft Cell record, much different from your alpha’s taste.
Peace only lasted so long though as Jason drove around the road, looping back to pull up in front of you. His car purred to a stop, hopping out and pushing his sunglasses to his hairline.
The green letterman jacket on his arms squeaked as he outstretched his arms, waiting for you to come closer until he saw your hesitation, sauntering a few inches closer. His breath fanned against your face, tickling your lower lashes to make you blink harshly.
“You have two seconds to back the fuck off, Carver.” Eddie all, but growled at the shorter man before him, leaving the double doors a foot behind you.
Anger was laced with every word as his disdain for the spoiled rich kid interfered with his newfound alpha protectiveness. His knuckles cracked as they clenched at his sides, only opening a hand to push you behind his frame.
“How about you learn to treat your girl right-” Jason began until Eddie grabbed him by the collar, lifting him from the ground.
While they both were newfound alphas, having an omega meant enhanced results, like an increase in strength. He saw the flash of fear in his light colored eyes, making his brain produce serotonin.
“Say one more thing to her and you’ll never speak again or be able to have children, got it?” He ordered, watching as the boy in his grasp rolled his eyes before he slammed his body into his car, grunting in pain.
“Eddie, please.” You begged softly, not wanting to risk suspension or a crowd of people who couldn’t give less of a shit of his well being. Thankfully Jason nodded, making Eddie release his firm grasp before walking you back to his van.
The ride was quiet as he drove down the winding roads of Indiana, the leaves going from green to orange, some scattering the ground. His hand rested on your upper thigh, tight as if you would vanish right beneath him. A part of him feared you would really leave him for Jason, someone who could take care of you financially and not have the town's eyes on them in a negative light.
“I wouldn’t dream of leaving you, handsome.” You spoke as if to his thoughts as he smiled, eyes still trained on the black road before him, lifting your hand to put a gentle kiss on your soft skin.

‘Tis The Damn Season.
Part one. HJP x wolfstar!daughter
No content warnings. Pining and a little angst.
A/N- hello! This is part one of a multi-part oneshot series based on ‘Tis the damn season by Taylor Swift. (It’s supposed to be two parts but who knows lol.) there aren’t a lot of lyric references in this part, but the next part will have plenty to make up for it I promise! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You find that the sunset always looks best from the roof. It looks as if someone has painted the sky with precise brush strokes of orange and red that blend seamlessly. Though it’s hard to focus on that when you’re holding Harry’s hand. The way his fingers are interlaced with yours is warm, comforting, and familiar. You couldn’t fathom not being able to have this feeling at your fingertips anymore, but you’d have to make do without it soon. And crazily enough, it was completely your choice.
Your plane leaves tomorrow. You were off to study music at your dream college, just like you’d always dreamt about. Harry would catch his flight the next week, to study acting and film. At a separate College, miles away from yours. You two had been avoiding the conversation since you got your acceptance letters, ironically on the same day. You both had been so caught up in the overall joy of the moment, that you didn’t think about the separation. The bomb dropped on both of you a week later, but neither of you dared to break the bliss of the moment.
Now, here you were. On Harry’s roof watching the sunset with him. It’d be the last time for a while. Harry squeezes your hand but neither of you looks away from the sky. Even as something draws you closer and your head ends up on his shoulder you can’t look at him. A part of you thinks you should say something, reassure him and yourself that’d it be okay, but another part of you isn’t so sure you will be. You’d never been without Harry before. You’ve been attached by the hip since you could walk. He’s been the person you cried to when you were sad, the person you ranted to when you were angry, and the person who made you laugh throughout all of it. Harry knew you, and you knew him too.
“We’ll call and text. We’ll talk every day and nothing will change.” Harry says suddenly. He says it like a promise, and you find it in yourself to relax a little. Harry has never broken a promise to you. You knew that wouldn’t change just because you weren’t going to be attending school at the same place. “Nothing,” you promise back. “It’ll be just like it is now, only we’ll be a little farther apart.” Harry smiles, turning his head in your direction to kiss your cheek tenderly. Blood rushes to your face immediately, but you still look back at him. His smile is softer than usual, there’s no hidden trace of mischief or even a hint of trouble. You can’t remember a time he’s smiled at you like that before. “That’s the spirit. We’ll be back together before we know it.”
Nightfall sneaks up on you faster than it usually does. As you both climb down from the roof you catch yourself looking at Harry again. Suddenly you can’t tear your eyes away. it’s like gravity is drawing you toward his eyes, his hands, his lips, him. Your heart speeds up drastically. It’s all a little too much for you. You leaving tomorrow, the distance between your college and your home, and realizing the fact that you might like—no, love your best friend. That makes leaving feel a thousand times harder than it did originally.
Harry is smiling at you from his doorstep, his same trouble-free smile that set you off in the first place. Your heart is jumping out of your chest and screaming at you to tell him how you feel, but you can’t put that on Harry. Not when you leave tomorrow. When your heart slows down enough, you press a soft kiss on his cheek. It lasts longer than it should, but neither of you complain. When your lips leave his skin you walk across the street to your house. If you had turned around for a second look, you would have seen the way Harry’s face heated up as his eyes followed you across the road.
The next day you board your plane and the long flight passes you slowly. You spend the time napping and looking out the window at the clouds. When you land, the sun is setting. It’s duller than the ones you watched back home. Not quite as beautiful as it is from Harry’s roof, but you look anyway. For a split second, you wonder if it looks that way because you weren’t holding Harry’s hand.

I think I worded it better lol
How you think Rebekah Mikaelson would react to the girl she keeps rejecting (who always gives Beks princess treatment and her undivided attention) suddenly being super nice to Elena
𝕽𝖊𝖇𝖊𝖐𝖆𝖍 𝕸𝖎𝖐𝖆𝖊𝖑𝖘𝖔𝖓
"Hi, Bex" you grin, sitting next to the blonde. It was history class, first period, and the only seat next was the one left next to her because she glared at everyone else that dared to try. Not so secretly, you want her, and also not so secretly, she wants you. But Rebekah likes to be chased, she likes to be pampered, and she likes to make life hard. So though she also wanted you and enjoyed any previous advances you had given her, she was going to play hard to get.
"You again? Won't you ever learn to bugger off?" she huffs, turning away to hide her small smile at your presence. You catch the smile, though, and decide to play along despite the small pang in your chest.
"Never. What would i do without my favourite original by my side to talk to, hm?"
"Oh shush, Mr. Saltzman's starting his lesson, now let me borrow a pen"
___
This same back and forth continued between Rebekah and yourself for a few more days now and you stupidly began to think she would start being nice back. You shared your lunch, met when she called, watched her cheer leading try outs like she requested, even tied her laces for her once. And yet, today it seemed like it was going backwards.
"Oh go away, would you. You and-" Rebekah started, about to rant about the 'bloody Salvatores' and 'whiney Elena' but when she turned around to give you a practiced scowl she was met with the sight of you actually walking away.
The smile hidden under her grimace disappeared, wiped cleanly off of her face. Instead, a blank expression laid there, with eyes wide in surprise.
What was more surprising, though, was when you didn't show up for her practice. She no longer felt the need to show Caroline up, and slunk to the back of the group to peer at the stands.
Even more so, when she didn't see you sat next to her usual spot in history class. Instead at the front, doodling in your notebook.
Okay, so maybe it hurt a little. But she got what she asked for, right?
But what actually made her react was getting to the bonfire, expecting to speak to you and bicker - to hash it all out and move along - only to see you laughing with... Elena??
The two of you just looked like peas in a pod, giggling together and reminiscing about when you were closer as kids, when it was all less complicated. And then... and then you shared a smore. Like actually bit into the same one as that - that bitch!
And Rebekah was seething. Not that she really had any right to be.
And so she marched right up there, arms crossed in discontent, "A word, please?" and yet her tone indicated the 'please' was more of a 'get your arse up now'. And so, with a huff of annoyance and a shrug from you, Elena stood up to follow Rebekah. "Not you, you pest" she glared. Elena only looked to you with worry.
Brushing it off, you stood and followed Rebekah.
"What on earth has gotten into you lately? You've-" The blonde girl begins after sputtering for a few seconds
"I thought you wanted to be left alone bex, isn't that what you always tell me? To 'bugger off'?" and she has to hold back a wince at the way her own words are thrown back at her. "You asked to be left alone, and im leaving you alone. Is that all?"
"No that's not all!"
"Then what, hm?"
"Then... then-" she surges forward, kissing you deeply. "That, that's what!" she says angrily. "I'll see you Monday, in your normal seat, thank you very much" she turns to storm away, pointedly ignoring the hammering in her chest and the butterflies in her belly
"Okay" you whisper, fingers ghosting over your lips, mouth still tingling from the feel of hers. "See you Monday"
And that Monday she decides that maybe it's time to switch the narrative. Maybe its time for her to be attentive to you.

The "dragons technically have 4 legs crowd" are fools and not to be taken seriously. Dragons are not real and the term wyvern and tbh most fantasy terms that originate in mythology and folklore were not used in that way.
This would be a much longer and structured rant if i weren't dissociating lol
Tumblr media
Dragons aren't real..? 🥹🥹🥹
Lmao, seriously tho, thank you for being part of the vast majority in this community who has a reasoned take on the whole debate.
Its not worth anyone's time to argue about the terms and I just wanted to have a public explanation for anyone outside this community who tries to "correct" lore terminology they aren't familiar with.
But fr I wish dragons were real 😔

Captains with a childhood friend who was usually touchy and clingy suddenly stopping and when they confronted them, their friend admitted to starting to like them romantically and didn't want to take advantage? Pls let them end up together!
I wasn't sure which captains you wanted sooooo I did all of them lol Admin Neon
Tumblr media
Hyuuga: He's always complaining about the random hugs and clinginess from you anyway, so when you stop doing it one day Hyuuga actually isn't all that bothered — he thinks, maybe, you finally decided to cool it a bit. He thought it meant you would be bothering him less, but when weeks go by and you still haven't greeted him with your usual death grip of a hug, he realizes you meant for the change to be permanent. It has him more upset than he would have originally thought and your explanation only manages to further confuse and upset him.
"Aren't you supposed to want to hold someone you like more?" he asks you, implying he wouldn't mind if you went back to doing that.
Kasamatsu: Prior to your confession, Kasamatsu already felt flustered every time you got touchy with him. He's not a very physically intimate guy in public, so the affection you showed him often left him red in the face and yelling in embarrassment. After your confession however, he's suddenly looking back on all those moments where you'd hugged him for a bit longer than necessary, where you'd let your fingertips graze over his skin, where you'd stared at him with what he now realized was longing. And he found himself missing the affection despite the embarrassment it brought him.
"You don't have to stop," he mumbles, looking away from you. It's not exactly a confession of his own, but it's enough for now.
Imayoshi: When you first started getting touchy with Imayoshi, he constantly teased you about being careful — he might fall for you, or vice versa, if you kept it up. After a while though, he began to think it was just part of your personality. After all, he wasn't the only person you got touchy with, you just took it a bit farther with him. He chalked it up to your long friendship with him and familiarity. Eventually he stops teasing you about it; you never reacted anyway so it was getting boring. The day you finally confess however, he's trying hard not to let you realize you'd caught him by surprise.
"Ah, see, I knew you would fall for me one day because of that," he teases. "But that's okay, because I was right about me, too."
Otsubo: The day you stopped outwardly showing him affection, Otsubo finds himself ranting to his younger sister — it was something he did often, actually. The two of you had been friends for so long, even his sister knew all the ins and outs to your personality. He was in the middle of a sentence, describing to her how you used to act before versus how you acted now, when it all seemed to suddenly click for him. Leaving his sister hanging, he goes to find you, shocking you when he asks you outright if you had deeper feelings for him.
"You don't have to hide them from me or stop what you were doing," he reassures. "Don't you know I've felt the same way?"
Okamura: He doesn't receive a lot of physical affection, romantic or platonic, so Okamura relished in every bit of affection you gave. If he was honest with himself, he would realize that the fleeting touches and lingering hugs had actually made him fall for you at some point. So when you suddenly stop giving him any affection one day, cutting him off cold turkey, he's upset and confused. He won't mention it at first, but after a while he starts to believe he's done something to upset you. When you reassure him it wasn't him and that you were simply being conscious of not taking advantage of him, well...
"You can take advantage of me!" he blurts before reddening as he realized what he said. "I mean. I like you, too. Please don't hold back."
Akashi: Being rather perceptive, it doesn't take Akashi long to realize why you were suddenly refusing to embrace him like you once did. He had started noticing the signs of your growing infatuation as soon as they started happening — the lingering glances, the soft blushes, the stuttered words — and he had been glad you'd finally caught up to the amount of affection he held for you. Maybe now you would be ready to take the relationship a step further. When you suddenly stopped giving him that affection however, he knew he had to clear up any confusion you may have had about his own feelings.
"I'm afraid you are mistaken," he explains. "Not once did I ever say I didn't enjoy your affection. If I'm being honest, I crave it."
Nijimura: As one of his dearest and longest friends, Nijimura never really minded when you would cling to his side or hold onto his arm or tangle your fingers with his. In fact, he found it endearing. When you suddenly start treating him differently, he's quick to pick up on the shift in your dynamic with him, though he doesn't exactly know why it's happening at first. After confronting you and hearing your confession, his once hardened expression softens into one of understanding and, if you were to look closely, you would probably see the light flush on his cheeks.
"Please don't push me away because your feelings for me have evolved." Asking for your affection back was clearly not beneath him.
Hanamiya: On the outside, it always looked like Hanamiya was annoyed with your clinginess, but other than his mother, you were the only person who would willingly embrace him, so he didn't mind it as much as he made it seem. He doesn't mention it at first when you suddenly stop, letting things play out naturally — he was convinced you'd start up again on your own anyway. Eventually weeks go by though and you still haven't hugged him. People start to notice that he seems more prone to anger because of it, like the simple hugs he got from you daily had been the last thing grounding him.
"Hah, that's why you stopped?" he asks after your confession. He's glaring at you. "Idiot, that's not a good enough excuse. Get over here."
Iwamura: If there was one thing that Iwamura liked about you, it was how forthcoming you always were with your affection. You never beat around the bush — if you wanted a hug, you would take one; if you wanted to hold his larger hand in yours, you would grab it. So when you suddenly stop, coming up with weak excuses as to why your attitude toward him had changed, he starts to press you further for a truthful answer. He's not surprised when you eventually confess your deeper feelings for him, having seen in coming, and he supposed now was as good a time as any to tell you about his own feelings.
"I appreciate you being honest with me," he murmurs, moving a hand to place it on your cheek. "Allow me to be honest with you now."
Nash: Similarly to Imayoshi, Nash teases you about your touchy feely attitude with him from the very beginning. He's relentless, never letting you get a simple hug in without making some remark about how you're falling head over heels for him. You think he's just joking — that he doesn't mean it all seriously — but the day you stop giving him those affectionate touches, his attitude seems to sour. He doesn't take long to track you down, asking you what your problem was and if you didn't want to associate with him anymore. Your confession has his mood changing just as quickly as prior.
"You're not taking advantage of me if I liked it," he reassures with a smirk. "And I just so happen to like when you throw yourself at me."

I hate all of this “well he was Buffy’s first love!” talk when discussing how much pain and devastation Angel caused in Buffy’s life as if for women our first loves MUST be horrible and painful always???? As if it was unavoidable anyway so let’s not be too critical of him.
First off, HE LITERALLY WASNT EVEN HER FIRST LOVE
The show acknowledges what happens in the movie so canonically what happened in the movie happened to tv show Buffy INCLUDING HER RELATIONSHIP. ANGEL WAS NOT HER FIRST LOVE.
Angel was just the first guy who stalked and targeted Buffy when she was at her most vulnerable and continued to constantly lie and manipulate her for his own selfish gains only to toss her aside once she no longer served her original purpose while continuing to lead her on and show up in her life every time she tried to move on and THAT is why it was so painful!!!
STOP NORMALIZING THE PAIN CAUSED BY ABUSE AND MANIPULATION AS THE SAME THING AS REGULAR HEARTBREAK IN NORMAL RELATIONSHIPS.
I did not have a good childhood, my parents had a horrible divorce when I was 7 and I had never seen a healthy relationship modeled IN MY LIFE - AND YET - my first serious relationship when I was 16 while it definitely had it problems like all young love does (his friends didn’t like how much time he spent with me and his mom both hated me for “taking her son away” but also loved me because she wanted a daughter so badly but only had sons - she was insane lol and we were both teenagers who made stupid teenager mistakes) he was with me for 3 1/2 years and absolutely would have married me if that was what I had wanted.
He would sneak out to see me when I was sad despite his strict parents, always bought me lunch because I would eat what I was sent to school with by 10 AM because I was STARVING because I had an almond mom who never fed either of us enough. Would happily listen to me rant about the twilight books as I read them during that whole phase, WROTE ME A SONG for my birthday (he was actually a talented musician and works as a sound engineer and music producer now) and basically just spent every second he could either with me or talking to me when we were apart. He loved taking me on dates and writing me love notes and we just laughed all the time. He was my best friend as well as my boyfriend and ending that relationship because I had outgrown him was SO PAINFUL because he loved me so much and even during the break up - which I handled HORRIBLY - he was kind and even gave me the birthday present he had bought me because he wanted me to have it even though it was still months away. (I say all of this to try and just show first loves CAN be more than just pain and devastation and if it isn’t making you happy a minimum 80% of the time and you instead just feel sad and confused THAT IS NOT NORMAL AND YOU DESERVE BETTER 🩷)
I know good experiences are not the case for everyone when it comes to first relationships and that’s awful and is not fair because young love SHOULD be innocent and naive. Just two idiots in love who have no clue what they’re doing but just happy to be around each other no matter what they’re doing (like what willow got to experience with Oz in high school) and Angel robbed Buffy of those experiences. He broke her trust of other people and in love and her trust in HERSELF - that’s not her “first love” that’s her first abusive relationship and calling it “her first love” or worse “her soulmate” only serves the patriarchy and harms little girls everywhere who grow up not knowing to look for or expect better because everyone around them and society is telling them “your first experiences with love and sex will be awful and painful and there’s no escaping it” when that is just NOT TRUE at all, especially if you date someone age appropriate in high school. Angel is the first older “man” she dated and like all older men with high school girls do, he took advantage of that imbalance in power in literally every way possible and I will despise that whiney little bitch until the end of time for that and wish he would have just stayed trapped in that hell dimension until the end of time as it is what he deserves.
“True love” doesn’t require severe pain and tears for it to be deep or meaningful. Don’t believe the lies terrible men like jw and so many others feed us.

Heads up another depressed rant lol
I just wish I had known how much webtoon was going to abandon most of its creators when I signed a few years ago. If I had, I would have pushed my SM so much more back when they still valued my series so maybe I could let more than 30% of my audience know it’s back.
I’m not exaggerating at all when I say the fallout of that terrible return last month had devastated my finances. My fast pass revenue is literally cut in half from before the break. I love my new little apartment so much but I don’t know how much longer I can afford it. I didn’t account for my income to be cut literally in half.
Because every break before this my revenue actually increased. Thanks to proper promotion to past returns WT used to give series, I always regained my audience, and actually saw increasing FP profits the past 2 seasons.
I expected a decline for this return to be clear- the series has been in a slow arc and the episode count is getting up there. But my FP revenue is insanely consistent. It’s one of the few things I’m proud of. X% has always fast passes at minimum (sorry can’t share actual number ofc). Even during past slow periods, that X% has always been consistent. But ever since this last return that received 0 promo, that X% that has basically remained consistent for 4 seasons across 4 years has been cut by almost exactly 50% despite this being my shortest break ever. This decrease has nothing to do with a slow spot in the story or the episode count getting too high. It is because half my readers still don’t know it’s back from lack of promotion. And I’m probably not gonna be able to afford my new home much longer because of it. I can’t share numbers but my series use to be profitable. Idk if it is anymore. But literally all past experiences and records show it would be if readers were just aware that it was back.
I wish I got my social media to blow up when my comic was still kind of popular. Because it’s the only way to promote your webtoon original series now. Webtoon doesn’t do it for you, they expect you to. And if you don’t have the social media to advertise it yourself… then just say good bye to any success your series had.

YOU 🫵 please tell me like anything and everything about your wolfwalkers au.
also for no reason in particular do you have a colored ver/ref of any of the characters. or just, like, their colors in general?? for no reason other than curiosity. of course :3c
Hehehehe >:D
(I have a finished ref of the BM twins and that’s it rn, I’ll put em in at the end for ya)
Now onto the word vomit :
Timeline-wise, the wolfwalkers au takes place in more recent times, at least up to the point of the latest episode of mgafs because those events are not canon to this au (im kinda cherry-picking what I want to be canon here or not as i go along, some things may change tho)
That being said lots of things stay the same but there are also lots of things that go differently both in past and present
The twins have already been separated for a long time and are still reluctant guards for FC, them being wolfwalkers making them all the better for the task; they were given radio collars by Monty to keep track of them even when they’re in wolf form
As for Ruin and Solar and all that happened there…Solar still dies in this au because of Ruin’s plans though there are some key differences, and let’s just say that more than Solar’s energy residue stayed behind :) (*cough*if you ever watched wolfwalkers you might know what I’m getting at*cough*)
The origins of the celestial fam being wolfwalkers is kinda the same as with how things work in the Death’s Keepers au w/ the reapers: it all started with KC and the “killcode” being the code that the creator basically implanted magic into and thus the fam have these abilities due to the creator embedding it in all their codes (even Earth)
This code and them being wolfwalkers also affects their animatronic appearances and behavior (claws, sharp canine-like teeth, prey drive—some having it stronger than others, enhanced sense of smell, wolf hierarchy and pack behavior—and no not a/b/o stuff, I mean like accurate wolf hierarchy and pack behavior, which if y’all don’t know what I mean by that I will gladly rant about it if asked)
They shift using magic and their magic is strongest at night, though they can shift whenever they want to
It’s weird to a lot of them shifting from something that is mostly mechanical to being wholly organic though most of them have gotten used to it by now (a lot of the other animatronics think it’s weird but also kinda cool, Monty makes a lot of furry jokes and Moon hates it lol)
They all had to learn at one point or another that yes, you are no longer fully a machine and can be hurt or even killed as easily as any other person or animal (*cough* Eclipse learned this the hard way *COUGH*)
Going back to them more accurately representing wolf behaviors and such, I’m a nerd for anything to do with wolves and wolf genetics are one of the things I love the most (as many probably already know from my rants-)
That being said, all of them when in wolf form have their own things assigned to them, like how a few posts ago I talked about how Eclipse has the KK gene (basically black coat gene but the rare one because wolves with this gene rarely survive to adulthood for reasons that to my understanding are still mostly unknown—this is because the wolf I made based off him in WQ had it and I liked the idea of it)
Lots of the stuff that happened earlier in the tsams canon timeline happen in the timeline of the au, like Eclipse being created from Moon and Sun separating and then creating the twins and Lunar, the October takeover, etc etc
I’ve drawn them—BM twins, Lunar, Eclipse—as puppies before and mentioned Eclipse being a sickly pup due to his genes at some point and that still holds true though I’ve made alterations to my og plan for the story
Originally things were gonna diverge heavily from canon in the timeline and take more inspo from the Death’s Keepers au though wasn’t really vibing with it so I scrapped that idea
Instead things will still go relatively the same as in canon, as I stated before, and while yes Eclipse and Lunar and the BM twins were all technically “pups” at one point, it was when they were in the mindscape and they grow fast being magical and mechanical beings (so their aging is like wolves in that sense; only taking two years or so to fully mature into adults)
The others were all puppies at some point too (Sun, Moon, Earth, etc) but like I said they mature and grow fast in both wolf and mechanical form since I’m basing their aging off a wolf’s
As for Eclipse being a sickly pup, not only his genes in wolf form but his coding plays a role in that, being buggy and unstable for the first year of his life due to being a new ai created from a jumble of somebody else’s discarded code
Despite them not being around as long as some of the others, the BM twins (nicknamed Hunter and Bam in this au) are the most experienced and skilled in their wolf forms, especially when it comes to hunting
This need to hunt and prey drive while in wolf form has given the others more of an open eye to the twins’s pov and how their minds work, which has helped them in the long run as Foxy and others have more sympathy and understanding of their situation (Foxy may not be a wolfwalker like the celestial fam tho he’s been told of it by Monty and seen firsthand the others as wolves and how they behave/work)
Injuries gained in wolf form can be easily healed if done properly as their magic aids in the healing process and their injuries usually do not carry over to their mechanical form though that’s not always the case (it really depends on the injury and the severity of it)
For example, Eclipse later in the timeline has a permanent limp from an injury not healing correctly both in wolf and mechanical form due to the time when he fucked around and found out the hard way :)
That’s all I have to share rn, thanks for giving me an excuse to rant about this au :D
(They don’t have their radio collars here cuz I forgor)

(Sun and Moon Show Rant #5: Ruin Has So Much Potential!!)
Maybe this is part two of my last rant (in which I rambled nonstop about Ruin being the most tragic character in the show), but I just felt like I had to talk about this!
Ruin is probably the most intelligent character in the series so far. He has currently given himself up to Moon and the others completely since he has achieved his goals, no longer has anyone from his original universe, and thus doesn't feel the need to try and defend himself or escape the prison he's allowed himself to be put in. He also isn't hostile toward the family and understands why everyone currently despises him. Heck, he even wants himself dead.
But he can still be of use to the family! I mean, it's obvious the Creator in their dimension is going to cause them hell soon. Ruin is essentially an expert when it comes to the Creator in all the dimensions and how they work and think. He has knowledge on the things they plan to do and all that jazz. He hates them just as much (if not more so) than Sun and Moon. He'd be willing to help them if they'd allow it! Of course, they still see him as someone who harmed their family and they're not yet willing to overlook this in order to see the bigger picture, but his knowledge and intellect isn't something they should just throw away, especially when it comes to the Creator.
He also, of course, has angst potential. I won't go into detail about his backstory (I did that enough in my last post lol) but I will say that he's definitely not well mentally after everything he has gone through. Normally, Earth is the one who helps others through their thoughts and trauma, but Ruin is the only person she has claimed to hate, so I don't see this being something she'll be ready to do, at least not for a while. But there's some amazing potential when it comes to her possibly confronting him! Maybe he'll open up and start telling her all about his backstory and the things he's gone through in order to get her to see why he destroyed so many dimensions. Maybe he can make her realize it wasn't personal and point out how she herself has been wronged by her own Creator in a very intentional, personal way.
Also, when Solar is revived, we'll be able to potentially see him confront Ruin! I think he and Earth should be the ones to have the final say in what happens to him...and I have a feeling they wouldn't want to kill him.
I dunno, I just think this dude has potential. Lol.

What are your thoughts on OG obey me not getting anymore lessons after 80? It worries me because it kinda feels like they are trying to kill it slowly.... This is making me not enjoy nightbringer because i thought i would be a spin off new game with a new story that we could play while waiting for OG obey me to come with season 5, but now it seams like nightbringer will be their only foucus and season 5 will never happen. Sorry this kinda turned into a rant just not liking what's happening now.
Yeah, we weren't too happy when we first heard about it, which was the AMA the devs did on Reddit. It was a shitty way to release that information, and it sucks that they really only said so when people ASKED if OG was going to get season 5/more lessons. It did create backlash right away, which we guess they were...attempting to avoid in the first place lol. But they definitely should have handled that announcement a lot better than they did.
In terms of what it means for the future of OG, we don't think they are trying to kill it per se so much as they just sort of...wrote themselves into a corner, and this was their way of hitting reset, on that and other things.
(no need to apologize for ranting, ours is even longer LOL -- rest under the cut!)
We definitely have some criticisms of the writing in Season 4, particularly how they squandered much of what was narratively set up in Season 3, and they didn't really set anything up on where it goes from there. It's also unfortunate that the original game is just going to be doing the same events as Nightbringer, rather than separate ones, which just means there's really nothing to motivate people to stay. And in that way, it does also sort of feel like a waste of all the effort people have put in to strengthen up our cards and grind affection and stuff, because we can't transfer ANY of that. They probably hope to continue that both sides will make money for them, but realistically speaking, it does feel like they are effectively just pushing everyone to migrate to the new game, and that the original is being sort of abandoned to just a maintenance mode kind of thing.
One thing they did note about the decision was that Ruri Tunes was originally supposed to just be an additional mode, but they decided to split it off as part of a separate Nightbringer game/story in order to not make the original "unplayable" with all they wanted to add and change "under the hood". Part of that, at least at a guess, may be due to the difficulty curve of the original -- despite them adjusting the difficulty in a patch, plus their zero-AP lesson battle promo campaigns, they probably were seeing a lot of drop-off just for people who gave up because they couldn't make it through those earlier lessons to even finish Seasons 2, 3, and 4. In that sense, it's good and bad to shift the continuation of the story to this new game even though they don't seem to have actually learned their lesson with the difficulty curve problem... But that's another thing they get to hit reset on by making a new game.
As for a Season 5, we do know from the same AMA that the story from the original is supposed to "continue" in Nightbringer, which suggests that it might pick back up from the end of Season 4 as effectively a Season 5, like maybe MC will make it back to their own time and continue from there, just in this other game instead of the original. Which, um, is certainly a choice on their part, especially since not everyone has the time or interest in a rhythm game. It kinda feels also a bit like this sudden time travel thing in Nightbringer may almost be a way of buying them some time while they figure out what to do as a continuation to the OG plot.
All of that said, however, considering the lack of direction for the original, we've actually been really enjoying Nightbringer's story! It dives into a lot of super interesting questions and content that fans have been begging for and brings back some of the darker themes from Season 1 that we've really missed, so even though it's not quite the Season 5 we've been waiting for, we're really hyped for the new content to keep coming!

DECEMBER 2023 WRAP UP
[loved liked ok no thanks (reread) book club*]
Mixed Magics • Chalice • To Shape a Dragon's Breath • The Haunting Season • Hither Page • The Henchmen of Zenda • System Collapse • The Phantom of the Opera • An Unexpected Peril • A Minor Chorus* • The September House • (The Dream Thieves) • The Fragile Threads of Power • The Pinhoe Egg • (Network Effect) • Some Desperate Glory
total: 16 (audiobook: 12 / ebook: 4)
Happy New Year booklr! Here's to actually getting my last monthly wrap-up post of 2023 out in decent time for once.
Some Desperate Glory - I'm getting myself off to a bad start here because I don't actually remember much from the book and I didn't write a review at the time. oops. But I do remember that once things got going I was hooked, and I couldn't wait to pick the audiobook back up. Definitely some content warnings to look out for, but an incredible read. I definitely need to go back and check out the author's other work.
Network Effect - the last book of my Murderbot reread, still great, glad to have finally read this in a text format! Also better suited to be read *after* Fugitive Telemetry, I wish I'd known to read them in chronological order the first time.
The Pinhoe Egg - a nice wrap up to the main Chrestomanci series! Though if anyone can tell me why on eARTH the 'recommended' reading order is like *that*, please explain it to me. I'd forgotten so many things by the time we got back to Cat, if I ever reread I'm going chronologically.
The Fragile Threads of Power - lord help me, I could do a whole rant. A quick summary of my relationship to this series: loved Shades of Magic when it first came out, did not love/was very annoyed by most of it when I reread them in 2023. Also have not really liked any of Schwab's other work. BUT. I was under the impression that this spinoff would have new main characters, and the old ones would be present but not in the center. If I didn't just make this up, it was LIES. The original MC's still dominate probably at least 60% of the book, and you'd think 7 years in-book and more experience on behalf of the writer would mature them, but a) no, and b) so many goddamn flashbacks. And Kel's assasin-sona was so cringe I wanted to cry. I did actually like the new main character which really is the biggest shame of all. If you see me contemplating the next book please stop me.
The Dream Thieves - I don't know that I have much to add yet to my thoughts about TRB in my Nov post, but I've been having a very strange experience where when I'm actively reading these, I'm having an incredibly good time; when I'm not I completely forget I was reading it. lol?
The September House - this is possibly the closest to my ideal horror book that I've ever found??!!? I have a weird relationship with horror, wherein I am not uninterested, but I almost never enjoy the ones I read (I think it has to do with my irl anxiety, idk). But THIS one. It's such an INCREDIBLE blend of like, mundane horrors and dark humor? I loved it. The "you can live with the horrors if you just follow the rules" is very much my vibe, and the way the author chose to have it integrate with the main character's experiences of domestic abuse was very smart. Deeply enjoyed, but probably won't be a favorite.
A Minor Chorus - this month's book club pick! I really really wish I'd liked this, and I'm torn between "thank god it was short," and "oh I wish this was longer." It's about a queer Indigenous doctoral student in Canada who's somewhat lost his way on his dissertation and is instead writing a novel (maybe), inspired by the stories of people in his community. On one hand, the writing was sometimes very beautiful and the different stories were interesting! On the other, my academic-speak abilities are limited, and the narrator did not hold back. He even explicitly states at one point, oh I can't describe my book this way to [character] because he won't understand my academic language. And...yeah. My brain got a little overwhelmed and I skimmed a lot of those parts. The hopeful part of me thinks if that if the book had been longer maybe I would have had time to "get it," but idk.
An Unexpected Peril - Veronica Speedwell is as Veronica Speedwell does. Had a good time with this even though it's proving to not be the most memorable. Mostly I remember intensely panicking over whether or not V had practiced forging the princess's signature, lol.
The Phantom of the Opera - this was a last minute sub for my classics challenge; I've never seen any of the adaptations, but I happened to see the book on tumblr when I was scrambling for a replacement and thought it might be fun. And it was! Quite ridiculous and dramatic, and I had a good time reading it. I was surprised by the outsider POV on the story, but it was good, just a shame that it didn't allow Christine to tell her own story. If anyone has a Christine-centered retelling I should read, let me know! And are there any adaptations I should watch?
System Collapse - new Murderbot! I was so excited for this, I'm irritated that my brain and work schedule didn't want to cooperate and let me read my nice pretty hardcover; I ended up getting the audiobook from the library instead. I had an incredible time, because it's Murderbot, how could I not? But it's also interesting, because Network Effect felt quite cohesive and contained on its own, but this feels very much like an in-between story (almost like Fugitive Telemetry), rather than a continuation of the same thread. I'll be interested to see where Martha takes us from here.
The Henchmen of Zenda - my last KJ Charles of the year! I did mean to get through all of her books, but things slipped by me these last few months so I still have a couple, but managed to fit this standalone in! It's not the only time she's pulled characters from works of classic fiction, and I admit, I'm now very curious and kind of want to read the original Prisoner of Zenda? Definitely this version had an exciting plot that was fun to read, though I don't think it'll be my favorite of her works (yay for a non-traditional relationship structure tho :)
Hither, Page - I don't think I've read Cat Sebastian before, but I've had this one recommended and it sounds right up my ally - historical/cozy myster/spy shenanigans/gay romance! And it was an incredibly pleasant read, would recommend, but I do think it could have been better as both a mystery and a romance.
The Haunting Season - I almost picked this up in October for spooky season, but put if off for Dec since it's meant to be wintery ghost stories - and only just remembered it in time! I almost wish I hadn't. The first two stories were so meh for me that I almost DNF'd it, I just didn't want the fuss of having to find a new audiobook for work the last day before Christmas break. Luckily Natasha Pulley showed up next with a good story (I really ought to read her books) and there was a good run of 4 stories with another 2 meh to round things out. It wasn't a total loss, but I wouldn't really recommend.
To Shape a Dragon's Breath - If you've seen people singing the praises of this book, they're not wrong! It's a very good if sometimes heavy read, and this is definitely the closest I've gotten to liking a boarding school story since Protector of the Small (I got burned out on them very quickly, lol). It does sometimes read like the debut it is, it's not perfect (lots of infodump speeches, lord save me from the technicalities of alchemy/chemistry, and I would have liked to see more done in her relationship with her dragon), but it's also doing some incredible and unique things that really make me want to see more books in this series and whatever else the author writes.
Chalice - I've read Robin Mckinley before and I've found her work ok, but this one has been repeatedly recommended in the HOTE discord server - I figured it would be a good one to wrap up the year with! And surprise surprise, the fealty-coded discord loves a book about... fealty XD and good stewardship, and magic bees, etc. It's incredibly on brand, and I had a lovely time with this fairy-tale of a book.
Mixed Magics - a collection of Chrestomanci short stories; I actually read one of the stories a few months ago due to the recommended reading order (bleh), and thought it would be fairly simple to finish it off before the end of the year, now that I'd finished the rest of the series. All fun, if not equally interesting, and a nice end to the year. Now I just need to find a new Diana Wynne Jones series to try (not on audiobook, alas, my library is all out of those).
(I did almost consider then binging the Hither, Page sequel on new year's eve, just so I wouldn't split the series, but decided against it :D)

Holy crap???????
I very recently started reading (most?) of the stories you have wrote on Ao3 and I'm in love. Marry me?? I'll give you a plastic spider ring I got for 25 cents.
Anyways, I aspire to be an author and was mostly wanting to know, how do you continue??
I have so many little ideas that float in my mind and I don't know how to keep writing after getting through one paragraph.
-Turtle-shell anon.
Oh dear, unfortunately I'm sworn to only marry Danny Devito...
Okay, I've got a lot to say abt this apparently. I was originally just gonna write some quick tips and it somehow turned into a full essay lol
#5 is my top suggestion for anyone who's feeling uninspired or stuck. Stories are driven by their characters, so let them lead the way!
1. Write your ideas down as soon as you have them
I've got about five or six tiny notebooks stowed away in different places (purse, desk, bedside table, etc.), and as soon as I have any kind of story idea, I start writing it down as soon as I can, otherwise I tend to lose it or lose my enthusiasm abt it, and it's harder to keep steam later on. I do this with ideas for future stories, ideas for dialogue five chapters from now, random descriptions of scenes, just literally anything that pops into my head.
Like dream journaling makes your dreams more vivid, the more you write down your ideas, the more ideas you'll start having! It's like unclogging a dam.
Also, physical writing is always better for me than typing when I get stuck because kinetic movement engages the brain more, so I have a few full size journals too to write longer ideas in.
2. Start stories even if you know you won't finish them
Writing is like a muscle. The more you use it, the more stamina you build up. So starting on stories, even if you don't know where you're going or know you won't finish is still productive because you're exercising that muscle and making it stronger. And who knows? Maybe you'll come back years later and finish this story brilliantly!
3. Download WriteorDie2
Write or Die is a horrific torture device for writers, but it is genuinely helpful for me to power through pointless writer's block or procrastination stints. Even when I feel completely uninspired, suddenly I find I'm full of ideas when threatened with screeching violin spiders.
4. Get a hype man
A big reason writers lose steam on projects is you start listening too much to the internal critic, and you end up hating your own project when you've barely even started. The best way to combat this is to get a non-writer friend to read your stuff and tell you everything they like about it. Ask them to say specific things they liked, not just vague "Yeah, it's good!" because specific positive feedback is always more encouraging than generic platitudes.
5. Do free form character PoV word-dumps
Get out a journal. Set a seven-minute timer and start writing in the voice of your main character (or whatever character is most relevant), like they're making a diary entry or giving a soliloquy. Your pencil cannot stop moving until the timer ends. Just keep writing and ignore any spelling or grammar mistakes.
Have your character dump out all their thoughts and feelings and insecurities, have them rant and cry, have them giggle and blush and kick their feet, or maybe they're still masking their feelings and trying to be strong. Just write in their voice, and you'll be surprised by what they have to say.
6. Explain your story to a rubber ducky
If you're stuck in a plot and don't know where to go, explain your whole plot to a rubber ducky. Make sure you go into all the intricacies and details, explain all the side characters and background lore, tell that ducky where you want your story to go next and why you're stuck.
8 times out of 10, simply talking out loud through your plot will get you thinking differently, and you'll unstick yourself. And it doesn't have to be a rubber ducky; it can be literally anything with a face, but trust me, it is important that is has a face, and you need to be talking out loud, even if it's just a whisper.

Ghosting anon. Someone in the comments said: " Agreed. Jealousy when ppl see their friends interacting with other friends is not a good look."
How about you do me the bare minimum of charity and consider that there might be more to the situation than someone so entitled who literally can't bear to share their friend with anyone else?
And maybe read the original message, which was about weeks spent without so much as a how-do-you-do while happily chatting with other people, not "wahhhh my friend is talking to someone else they don't care anymore". No, I'm not a shithead who'll take issue with my friend interacting with others, but you all realize that this will only stretch so far, right? If it looks like your friend is the only one you can't find time/energy for (but you can find it for gaming, Tumblr, Twitter, groupchats and so on), that shit hurts. Maybe your friend is not the only one you're semi-ghosting, maybe all your DMs look like this, but without communication, said friend has absolutely no way of knowing that. And it is up to you to communicate that shit, especially if the two of you have already discussed this problem and you resolved to do better, and your friend resolved to not bring it up again and be happy with what interaction they get specifically because they don't want to be the jealous clingy friend, oh my god.
Christ, you people are exactly what I'm talking about. "We don't owe anyone our time and attention" is well and good, but it also follows that if you act like a stranger, you will eventually be treated like a stranger - usually after the point where you've hurt your friend so much through neglect that they've mentally reshuffled you to the "I no longer care about this person" bin as a form of self-protection and ceased all attempts at maintaining the friendship from their end. If that happens to your friends, you need to accept that you hurt people, and take that as a lesson for the future.
The kicker is that I know for an absolute fact that this person is not trying to ghost me on purpose or give me a hint. They really do have problems maintaining relationships when IRL gets stressful for them, which is nearly always. But I'm sick of being made to feel like our relationship is just an acceptable casualty of that and I shouldn't get upset because "jealousy is a bad look", and I'm sick of being told that it's "not mistreatment lol" (thank you for the flippancy there, truly). It can have good reasons behind it or be an unavoidable lesser evil, that doesn't mean it's not also mistreatment.
Losing the friendship hurts, the ambiguity of non-communication and having to play the guessing-game and wondering if they still care hurts, the lack of closure hurts double, considering I'm in here venting to a stranger instead of dumping a rant into my friend's DMs.
Being decent here and not acting like the possessive clingy friend is so goddamn painful, and it won't be appreciated or even noticed. So if you find yourself ghosting your friends, and they express concern about being ghosted before eventually going silent, the least you can do is appreciate what kind of turmoil is likely going on behind the scenes purely to avoid adding more drama to your already-full plate. And maybe take the next friend for granted a little less. That's all I ask.
--
"We don't owe anyone time and attention" extends to you, the abandoned friend, not owing the abandoner your continuing patience.

eBay Rant
Boy, oh, boy do I have a juicy eBay rant coming your way.
So, I’ve been buying on eBay since 2016 and never run into major issues with sellers.
The stupidest seller I ever came across was one such person who thought it smart to ship me a *porcelain* doll in a cardboard box with no outer protection, and of course, she broke into a million pieces and I basically got her for free, lol. I never thought anyone could be more stupid than that.
But this one takes the cake.   🎂
So, I’m looking at this from two sides—as a buyer and a seller. I’m also a part-time seller myself. I don’t sell very often because I don’t have too much to sell; but if I want to downgrade and need the money, I’ll part with a few items in my own collection. I usually sell occasional doll items and have never had a major issue with buyers (I’ve had more issues with Facebook Marketplace than eBay), but naturally, if a customer had a complaint, I would not have responded in the way this bloke did.
Well, there’s a first for everything, right?
I’ve been buying and collecting high quality photos of old Hollywood stars for some time now and I purchased a Don Knotts photo on Sunday, January 1 (Don Knotts is one of my faves and I have quite a collection on him). The photo finally arrived on Monday, January 9 but unfortunately, it was not the high quality I expected. The seller claimed in the item description that the photo was from an original negative from a film print of a Steve Allen show episode (which are hard to find; only a few episodes exist on DVD). But naturally, the old Steve Allen shows (as most old tv shows back in the 50s) were not on film. They typically ‘’filmed’’ live using a process called kinescope, which is not tape or film, and the quality tends to be very low (you’ll notice any Steve Allen show episodes uploaded to YouTube are very poor quality, because that was the low, cheap quality they processed the show to be shown on the very small tv screens; there is no high definition version that exists, even with restoration. The quality looks worse on our big flat screens, something that was not very noticeable back then on small tube television sets in the 50s). But judging by the seller photo, it looked like it might be a higher quality glossy that I’m used to. I’ve also purchased some photos from the Red Skelton Hour that also used the same process of The Steve Allen Plymouth Show, but they were actual stills used to advertise the show in the newspapers at the time, so the quality was better. So, that’s what I was expecting, more or less.
Tumblr media
But I get a photo that looks like this:
Tumblr media
And to be fair, that is the quality of the videos you will see, but the seller photo just made me think otherwise.  Normally, I don’t buy items from sellers who are too cheap to afford a basic scanner to scan their items, because it’s hard to rely on crappy cell phone pictures that don’t determine what the photo will look like in person, but I decided to take a chance, because you know… I’m a simple man. If I see Don Knotts, I click, lol. And I’m a big fan of The Steve Allen Show.
The seller, despite only being on eBay since January 2022, also had good reviews from buyers (I always review their profile and reviews before buying, if I haven’t bought from them before just to make sure they’re okay). He was at 100% when I bought the photo but more on that later.
Tumblr media
So, to make a long story longer, I requested a refund on the day of delivery (January 9). I stated why I was returning the item when I opened the refund request. The seller responded on Tuesday, January 10. First red flag was that he did not use pleasantries. ‘’Hi, how are you? May I ask why you are returning the photo?’’ That’s how I would respond.
No, here was his abrupt response. And terrible grammar to boot (no punctuation at the end of his sentence, but I’m not here to be a Grammar Nazi).
‘’What is wrong with the photo?’’
(And I’ve blocked my name but really this seller does not deserve to be protected for privacy reasons; he is a cautionary tale for anyone on eBay.)
Tumblr media
But another thing that was strange, too, was that I have returned some photos before in the past or requested refunds for photos that were not to my standards, and the sellers were always polite and very rarely ever asked questions about my returns. They always refunded me promptly. There’s really no reason for a seller to ask, ‘’What’s wrong with the photo?’’ Buyers don’t necessarily need a reason for a refund; sometimes they change their mind. Yes, I’m aware of buyer scams, but I’ve cancelled orders before for buyers who just had their own reasons for no longer wanting the item. It isn’t my business to ask. For instance, someone wanted to buy an American Girl Doll from me and changed their mind at the last minute because they had a surgery coming up. Understandable. I moved on to the next interested buyer. The less you ask of your buyers, the better. They don’t need to explain themselves. If they don’t like it or it doesn’t match the item description, they have a right to return it.
I wanted a refund for an item I thought was going to be higher quality, but I got a very fuzzy, blurry photo. It wasn’t the seller’s fault; it just wasn’t what I expected.
Well, this guy has only been on eBay since January 2022 (and he’s not just a seller, but also a buyer; in fact, he has more reviews as a buyer than a seller, five pages worth, and he only had seven reviews as a seller at the time I bought the photo), so I should’ve known right off the bat he’s a newbie who isn’t familiar with the standard eBay procedure in how to deal with customers.
But in my experience, the sellers NEVER directly message me to ask me questions about why I’m returning the item or requesting a refund. I always state why when I make the request.
I always maintain cordiality no matter how rude the person I’m dealing with (I’ve worked customer service for years, so I’m used to it), so I just responded with an honest answer. I always try to treat sellers the way I would want my buyers to treat me. Most buyers would just yell at the seller for no apparent reason.
The seller seemed to soften after I kindly explained the issue and only then, did he start to use pleasantries. Because see? Niceness goes a long way. Usually if you’re nice about it, they’ll be nice right back. Usually.
Tumblr media
Well, he clearly stated that I did not need to return the photo and that he would give me a full refund on Wednesday evening (January 11). Good. I thought the matter was solved and I wouldn’t have to worry about it. I received a notification via email that the seller accepted my return. eBay did send me a shipping label to return the item, but again, the seller told me to keep it, and I did not want to waste more money sending it back anyway (the item was $10, and shipping was $10. With tax, the total came to be $20.84, for a photo that was not very good to begin with), so I hoped the seller would keep his promise and refund me ASAP.
Come Wednesday evening, there’s no refund. I waited a few days and heard no response from the seller, so I reached out again on Monday, January 16. Most buyers wouldn’t even wait this long.
Tumblr media
The seller did not respond so I reached out again the following Wednesday, January 18. I never heard a response. Again, the seller promised he would refund me LAST Wednesday. It had been over a week now. I think I gave him more than enough time to issue me that refund. I also saw him listing new items on his store between the time I messaged him three times, so he was clearly more preoccupied with his own business than actually assisting a customer. He was ignoring all my messages. I was not a priority to him.
Tumblr media
I wasn’t sure if I should wait for his response, but I was starting to think I was never going to see that $20 again. My first mistake was not asking eBay Customer Support to step in, but they gave me a message on the 9th when I opened the case that they would only be available to help until January 13, so it was already past the window for me to contact them, and I couldn’t figure out how to contact them through the website directly anyway (there was a number to call which I should have tried, and their live chat wasn’t very useful either). In all my years buying on eBay, I never had to escalate a return case to eBay Customer Support because the sellers always resolved the issue in a timely manner and never ignored my inquiries. Frankly, I just wasn’t sure what to do next. This seller was purposely giving me a hard time.
So, I was admittedly losing patience now and reached out to PayPal directly on Wednesday, January 18 (PayPal always refunds me for merchants who refuse to do so). I gave them all my documentation. I explained the issue and provided them with screenshots of my eBay order, the conversation I had with the seller showing that he clearly promised me a refund, and an Account Statement that detailed my credit (showing date of purchase, the order ID, and the card I used to pay for the item).
On Thursday, January 19, I left a negative review for the seller because he ignored all my messages and I think I waited long enough for him to respond, and if he just issued me a refund in the first place like he said he would, I wouldn’t have to be going through all this. This is also the first negative review I've ever had to write up simply because I never had to before. I prefer not to write them if I can avoid it, but this experience has been very trying. Most buyers would just go straight to the reviews and start lashing out at the seller before contacting the seller first, but I think I followed all the steps. I contacted the seller first, chatted politely with him in private, and agreed to settle the issue, so there was no reason for me to write a negative review, and that’s usually how I go about it. I’ve only written maybe two neutral reviews (which one seller had eBay remove and another asked me to change to positive after he refunded me the difference for overcharged shipping), but otherwise, I try to avoid it. I’m not out to ruin a seller’s perfect 100% rating on purpose. But this seller did not handle the issue properly and I think I gave him a fair chance. I also worded my review as kindly as possible despite my frustration. His rating is now down to 99.1% (not counting the false positives he’s received as a buyer from other sellers but more on that later).
Tumblr media
After reviewing the details of my case, on Tuesday, January 24, PayPal denied my case because I accidentally deleted the PayPal receipt, and I wasn’t able to recover the file from my email because it was more than 7 days ago. PayPal did give me from Tuesday, January 24 to Friday, January 27 to provide them the additional documentation of my receipt, but there was no way to recover it. All I had was the Account Statement to show proof of credit. They said ‘’because we never received documentation that proves you are due a credit’’ they unfortunately had to deny me. Because I reached out to PayPal, the Return was automatically closed on eBay on the 18th. Well, I was a little disappointed they didn’t see my side. It was the first time PayPal denied me.
It’s mostly my fault because it’s the first time I’ve failed to save the PayPal receipt. I usually always archive them in my emails when I place the order and save the receipt until the order arrives in case I need a refund, but I guess I just wasn’t thinking. Oh well. I had 10 days to appeal my case to PayPal, but since I can’t recover the receipt, I decided not to pursue the refund further and let it go. Sure, I’m short $20 now but I know for the future to just save the receipts and ask eBay to step in first. It’s not really a big deal, just a lesson to be learned.
I thought about disputing the charge directly through my bank or credit card company, but it’s such a hassle to go through all that for $20. If the charge was more, I would consider it, but I also don’t want the bank to think I’m attempting to commit ‘’friendly fraud’’ so again, I just decided to let it go. Life’s too short to worry about stuff like that. It’s not worth the aggravation and I have more important things to worry about.
On the same day PayPal closed my case, I did manage to reach out to eBay Customer Service via Facebook messenger (which I should have done in the first place) to just to double check if there wasn’t anything more they could do. They were very sympathetic to my case, but they explained because ‘’a dispute was opened with PayPal. Once this happens, it would take precedence over our claims process, and we would no longer have the ability to issue a refund on the order. It definitely isn't that we don't want to help, our hands are just tied. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to reach out to PayPal and see if the case can be appealed, or what other options they may have to help. We hope this is resolved soon.’’
So, that was that, and I just decided to let it go because there was nothing else to be done, and I didn’t think more of it. That was four days ago.
 BUT WAIT... THERE’S MORE
So, this morning, I see the seller messaged me at 11 AM, practically harassing me over the negative review I left for him. Like I need more stress in my life, lol.
Tumblr media
Sorry, I’m lmfao right now, this is so rich.
  🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
And, oh the awful grammar. Dude, please do yourself a favor and go back to school. I’m losing brain cells trying to make sense of this.
Something’s wrong with me? Mmkay. No, I think something is wrong with you. I asked you three times for a refund, and you chose to ignore me. You do realize it’s been three weeks, right? Or can’t you tell time?
Tumblr media
First off, I did not ‘’keep the photo free of charge.’’ lol what? 🤣 I paid appx. $20.84 for the photo that you NEVER REFUNDED, so you basically kept my $20 for yourself. Even if I printed out the return label to ship it back to you, you probably STILL would not have refunded me, and I would have been short even more money than I already am right now. (I’d return it now, but I no longer have the shipping label, and I doubt anyone would want this crummy photo. The 2 bids you see were both placed by the Gixen Mirror service on my behalf. There was no other competition.)
Also, sorry I wasted YOUR precious time sending you three messages, two of which you ignored, and having to go through PayPal and having them review my case for an additional week. Yes, I clearly wasted YOUR time. 🤣 Dude, really. It’s been 20 days since I opened the return on the 9th, and it’s been 18 days since I last heard from you. I gave you more than enough time to refund me, which you failed to do.
I’m sorry, I just can’t right now. XD I honestly think this guy is brain damaged. Ngl
Tumblr media
(Also, a funny thing happened when he shipped me the item. He assumed I was married (for some reason???) and addressed me on the envelope as ‘’Mrs. So-and-So.’’ Like… you *never ever* assume a woman’s marital status, or *anyone’s* marital status for that matter, like for real… I didn’t let it bother me, but still, it was hilarious. I don’t think he’s very smart.)
  🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
In all seriousness, I did not think my review was unfair. I only stated I'd been waiting for a refund the seller promised since January 11. I understand, of course, if he was busy filling other orders, but I gave him more than enough time to refund me and sent him two additional follow-up messages, one on January 16 and another on the 18th and he never responded to my inquiries. He's just now responding.
I just think it’s ridiculous that I’d been waiting for him to refund me since January 11, and, even if he was busy, he could have temporarily set aside his orders for a measly minute. I’m sure it doesn’t take nearly as long to send a refund. It took him six days to ship my order, so he’s clearly in no rush to fill orders. There was no reason for him not to take two minutes out of his day to issue me a refund. Most sellers I’ve dealt with in the past issued me a refund in no more than three days at most. He intended to drag this out longer than necessary. Also, the cordial thing for him to do, if he was so busy, was to reply to my messages explaining he would get back to me as soon as possible, and I would’ve understood. I’m aware sellers have lives outside of eBay, but usually if there’s a delay for whatever reason, a *good* seller will always keep me informed.
A *good* seller cares about customer satisfaction, as in responding to customer inquiries at your earliest convenience. If it were me filling a refund request, I would not wait weeks and weeks to get them their money. I would do so right away. And if life happens, just reach out. I basically did all the work messaging the seller regarding the issue. He did not have the common courtesy to reach out to me and explain why it was taking him so long.
One time, I messaged a seller to ask when they would ship an item after a week had gone by since placing the order, and they responded by saying their wife had suddenly passed away and there would be a slight delay in shipping, and of course I understood, and wished them sympathy and simply told them to take all the time they needed. Another time, a seller informed me they were out-of-town on vacation and would ship my item as soon as they returned, and I wished them a good trip and there was no rush. I received both items as promised from these sellers who were kind enough to take the time to explain the delay. This seller, however, did not bother telling me he was busy filling other orders, so how was I to know? Also, a few more reviews were left for him from other buyers a few weeks AFTER I opened my return case, so he should have refunded me first before he filled other orders. Why keep me waiting? And he only had until January 31st before eBay closed the Return. Why wait until the last minute? I feel like he was doing so on purpose, lol. There was absolutely no communication with him. Most sellers will ghost you if you agree on a refund. Sometimes, they say they will refund you and never follow through, and just keep your money, so naturally I assumed I’d been ghosted.
Again, he just didn’t go about this the right way. If you say you will issue me a refund on January 11, but there’s a delay for whatever reason, he should have reached out to me. Again, I waited several days before reaching out to him, trying to give him time to respond. I tried to follow up with two additional messages which went completely ignored, so at that point, there was no more excuse. The fact that he’s just NOW responding to me on Saturday, January 28, 11 days after the Return was closed by eBay and four days after PayPal closed my case, it just says enough about this seller in general. Obviously, a procrastinator. It shouldn’t take you nearly a whole month to give a customer’s money back. JMO
I always maintained cordiality and never resorted to threats, so I'm not sure why he feels the need to threaten me now. I have since blocked him, but I did reach back out to eBay Customer Support on Messenger and showed them this seller is going out of his way to harass me. I've been buying on eBay since 2016 and never encountered a character quite like this one. No buyer has ever left me a negative review either because I always try to be reasonable and understanding. I don't want to cause any more trouble, I'm just letting them know this eBay seller is prone to harassing his customers and I just hope he doesn't treat other customers in similar fashion in the future.
So, eBay did respond and said, ‘’Thank you! You're completely entitled to your feedback, and you don't have to delete it. We'll go ahead and report the seller on our end so our Trust team can take appropriate action based on their findings. On your end, I recommend not engaging with this user further. Please keep us in the loop and let us know if you run into any other issues, we're here to help.’’
So, I hope nothing more comes of this and this guys just quietly goes away.
 BUT WAIT... THE PLOT THICKENS
I did investigate him further and found out, as a buyer, he has several false positives from other sellers. He’s had at least four complaints from four different sellers for failing to pay for items, despite their constant notices and reminders. I wish I looked into him further before buying from him, because obviously, if he has an issue paying sellers, then he surely has an issue refunding his customers. But I probably wouldn’t have taken that into account, since I rarely request refunds and rarely experience issues with my items. I’m not sure if anything was done about it, apart from the orders being cancelled, or if these sellers tried to contact eBay’s Trust team to report him, but I’m just putting it out there. Unfortunately, sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers, so if a seller experiences an issue with buyers, and they leave a review, it will just be counted as a false positive. I wish I’d read all the reviews thoroughly. So, despite his generally positive reviews from other buyers, I wouldn’t let this deter you. He clearly has issues when it comes to money, whether it’s paying on time or issuing a refund.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you ever deal with him, proceed with caution.
I will say this whole experience has given me weeks long headaches and an upset stomach, but I also won’t say it wasn’t at least remotely entertaining. Shakespeare would’ve loved this kind of drama.
