the problem with having been active on the internet for over a decade and active on social media for just about as long is that sometimes i really realllly want to like. engage in healthy/casual debate about topics that i see being talked about but. i know it won't go that way. i know that if i engage in the way that i would like to (not just directly agreeing with what's being said) i'm going to immediately telegraph myself as some sort of chud trying to pick fights online over pedantic shit which in turn will immediately put people on the defensive. i've seen this play out. i know how this will end.

I will never understand why some folks are just SO adamant that certain kinds of pets are evil, vicious things that are SOOO dangerous to have in your home and "What if it gets out and KILLS you?"

And for the record, I'm not talking about venomous snakes or anything (which also are not Evil Creatures Out to Get You, by the way). I'm talking about the idiots who respond to me having tarantulas like they're going to break out of their enclosures in the night, seek me out, and then bite me over and over so that they can kill and eat me.

Buddy I can't even move shit on the shelf above her without Dancer bolting to her web to hide. If given the choice every single one of my spiders would RUN rather than bite. Even mister Spicy Menace runs before he threat poses, and he has about as much rage as one can pack into a teeny tiny little one inch fella.

I see this about so many animals, especially the pets that are considered "weird" or "for freaks" (that was a fun one). If owning my spiders makes me a freak.... Really? THAT'S what makes me a freak? Alright. Sure.

People who are stupid and uneducated about animals have no business commenting on animal care or safety, but somehow they're ALWAYS the loudest.

There is something amusing and bittersweet about seeing so many folks go “oh if Orion helped D kill Sentinel it would’ve been fine!” Because that’s just… not true. Like say Orion did cast away his morality for a moment. Say he decided that yes, our new society can begin with an execution, that’s fine for setting the scene for our new life. Sentinel deserves this immediate death rather than being judged by everyone he harmed. Yes, I can watch my friend fall farther into darkness by allowing his aggression and bloodlust born from trauma to take control. By allowing that death, by partaking in it, it still would proceed to the next scene of Megatron absolutely going berserk in his understandable anger, destroying the city around them, people getting caught up in it as collateral.

And Orion, kind spark he is, constantly aware of the impact of others especially with his previous lines of mistakes that hurt people, just could not allow that to stand. But since he allowed the death, that spark has already been ignited. There’s no stopping the flames.

We’d get the same situation in gist but worse. We’d still get them on opposite sides, fighting. But Orion would be on far more unsteady standing this time because he allowed this to come to be.

Phandom Historian?

Heyo Phandom! I joined a few years ago (~2019?) but I remember reading that the Danny Phantom fandom has been running since the show aired in 2003. I've stumbled across posts that rec old fics and mention older-era influential artists/authors, but are there any posts or people that are tracking the fandom history in one way or another?

I can't promise anything substantial, timely, or tidy, but I am interested in what a history of this fandom would look like... and I have a lot of time on my hands in the next few months...

actually johnny was kinda crazy for not telling anteros what happened w dex initially. like johnny you know damn well he was closer to dex than he ever was w you back then but all he says is “don’t get me started on dex” like oh my god. be honest w him. this is why y’all have issues.

like it’s fascinating to me that anteros and johnny’s whole issues w communication can pretty much be traced back to the start of sr2. like yeah they absolutely became friends during sr1, but sr2 is where the relationship actually deepens into something more substantial and intimate, but this also marks the start of the clear problems they have. johnny isn’t immediately forthcoming about certain things anteros missed, and anteros doesn’t tell johnny (or the saints) about his thing w troy. like i just find it very interesting that while the friendship truly begins here it also marks the start of their dishonesty towards each other. hm.

Sometimes its homophobia but because its their first reaction they have no idea what to say so they have to use funny word combinations or emojis and they’re really upfront and honest about how much they hate it

There’s also a lot of mass confusion I suspect from kids that aren’t exactly against being gay but have NO idea what to think about otherwise

And then every so often someone excitedly goes “They’re allowed to kiss? I didn’t know that 😳😳” and its like a whole new world has opened up to them
