For the ship bingo! (Sorry, I was in a hurry this morning and forgot 🤦‍♀️) Quincey Morris/Jack Seward, Beatrice Baudelaire/Bertrand Baudelaire/Lemony Snicket, and, since I remember you reblogged W.I.T.C.H. fanart recently and I'm reading the comics now, Irma Lair/Cornelia Hale?
Thank youuu ;))))) Apologies if the pictures are are a bit sloppy, I was editing them on my phone. This turned out longer than I expected, so I put them all under read more!
Quincey Morris/Jack Seward
Tumblr media
I like them! I really do. Though, I will admit that I'm more insane interested with every side of suitor's trio that has Arthur in it - mostly because I feel like he's a bit underappreciated!
All three suitors are so tender with each other, and the way Jack immediately brightens when he sees Quincey while having the worst day of a no good very bad pretty terrible week is saying so much! Another thing about them: I feel like from outside perspective it might be surprising that this is not a friend of a friend situation? An amieble aristocrat being friends with wealthy American and a pretty well-off doctor is not too surprising, but two people with (seemingly) completely different interests and personalities!.. Except they like each other! A lot! They think the other one is delightful all around! And have common hobbies of being adventurous and ride-or-die for people they care about. Them being paired together for the last roadtrip is even more sad - they might've met on the roadtrip too!
It was probably comforting, to have the person you trust and love travelling with you again, especially because of how high the stakes were this time! But with your dear friend you both settle into familiar routine, and it makes you breathe easier.
And then it ends.
The another guy (s) is the rest of their friend group, including Lucy and the unnamed post-canon wives. Except Van Helsing, the proud father figure!
Lemonberry Ice~
Tumblr media
OT3!! Throuples of any kind and formation are my weakness, my Achilles heel. So is angst. And Lemonberry ice caught me, hook, line and sinker! I love, love when a person who seems to be only in love with one of the couple has actually fallen for both! I love when the couple is also smitten with said person. I love when said person has to fake their death/pretend to be dead. I love it when it happens so many times they no longer have any hope of knowing whether it was truth this time. I love when they get married, all three of them, with the small group of trusted friends as guests, only for one to go on the lam. When they have never been together, but cannot help but wish, wish, wish. When B. and B. share their wedding night with a person they cannot keep for more than that.
When L. tries to look after their children, is always few steps behind or ahead, but never in time. When their children do not know what 'Lemony' means. When they might've been told, but the distressed chronically late narrator has no way of knowing and even less desire to think of this possibility and what it could mean.
When L. and B. had the same chaperone. When B. and L. have the same flair for dramatics. When B.'s eldest daughter might have the eyes of a family that shares a taxi, and not his own. When their youngest once thought about pushing one wicked man in the right direction. When their middle child loves knowing the right word definitions.
Also movie!L having big awkwardly cut photograph of B. and B.
Do you ever think if Baudelaire household had too many teacups? Had an odd number of silverware? If Beatrice and Bertrand were strangely attached to certain little things that neither of them really used? If their children never put too much thought into it, but also started treating these things with more care than others?
Would B. and B. keep L.'s favourite mug? His old shoe that somehow found its way in the attic? Was there a third chair near the too-big a fireplace where usually there are two?
And of course. How did Lemony learn of the fire? Was this day no different from all other days, until he picked up a newspaper to read? How was it - to learn such devastating personal news through a newspaper? To feel how the world starts to rearrange itself into something more bleak and sinister, with the desperate hope for this to turn out to be another scheme still dwindling down.
They make me a little cray-cray =))
Irma Lair/Cornelia Hale
Tumblr media
I see your vision! To tell the truth, this ask made me reread the beginning of the comics - I forgot how good they were! It also made me realise that both Irma and Cornelia realised what they could do first - and that Cornelia was the most skeptical and suspicious about their newfound powers (very Susan Pevensie of her! She might've survived in Madoka Magica!). And how their reactions to suddenly having magical powers were something like this:
Irma: Oh this is so nice! ☺️ I can have a little fun in the bathroom with water! (And maybe cheat on the tests too?)
Cornelia: No one knows how good I already am with my power! Just one wish was enough for my room to be clean again!! I can't wait to see what else can I do!!
This made me think that Cornelia could make a wonderful mad scientist!
I like their banter, the way Irma is more easygoing and more likely to crack a joke and Cornelia more witty and strategic, but also very caring.
The other guy is mostly there because I remember enjoying the dynamics between Cornelia and at least one of her boyfriends from later chapters, so!
Also the way these two often share a smirk is adorable! I like that they don't often see eye to eye too - it makes them all the more interesting!

Okay, let's finally talk about EPIC's Apollo
I feel very compelled to say, first of all, that I do not dislike Epic. In fact, I am very fond of Epic and have been following its production and status very eagerly! I attend all the launch streams, I watch all of Herrans' update videos; I am, at the end of the day, a fan and I want it to be known that my words are spoken out of love and passion as much as they are spoken from a place of critique.
So really, what my problem with Epic's Apollo?
In the briefest possible terms; the choice to have Apollo be defined by his musical aspect in God Games is thematically strange. And not in the 'oh well in the Odyssey, Apollo was important to Odysseus and his family so it's weird that that wasn't kept in Epic' strange, strange in the sense that Odysseus' character arc since My Goodbye has been getting more and more obviously Apollonian and so it is positively bizarre that when we get to meet Apollo, the god seems entirely disinterested in him and his affairs. So much so that he is not even defined by any station that would indicate that he has been watching over and protecting Odysseus and his family.
What do I mean by 'Odysseus has been following an Apollonian arc'? I'm so glad you asked!
Remember Them is the last song in which Odysseus explicitly uses his sword until Mutiny where he must use it to defend himself against Eurylochus' blade. He uses it to help enact the plan to conquer Polyphemus and, due to Polites dying in that battle, Polites who wished for Odysseus to put the blade down entirely and embrace a post-war life, Odysseus also retires his sword. This is an action that symbolically separates him from Athena - and the image of Odysseus as a traditional warrior set for him in Horse and Infant - as much as My Goodbye physically separates him from the goddess and her war-ways - from this point onwards, Odysseus will no longer be leaning on Athena's wisdom or methods to solve his problems. Likewise, he will no longer be able to rely on her protection.
Odysseus thusly solves most of his upcoming problems through diplomacy and avoidance. He approaches Aeolus - a strange and ambiguous god (both in gender and in motivation) and appeals to them for help. Circe too, he approaches not with wishes to conquer or for revenge, but for the safe returning of his men and an alternate way forward. In all of these scenarios, there is some Apollonian element which is subtly interweaved alongside the influence of other gods; it is with a bow and arrows that Polyphemus' sheep is slain (and thus it is this Apollonian element which is at the root of Odysseus' spat with Poseidon), it is a vision of Penelope that warns Odysseus that his men are about to open Aeolus' wind-bag, Circe's peace offering to Odysseus is to refer him to a prophet of Apollo who has since died.
In this way, Apollo is walking alongside Odysseus for all of his journey after Athena departs - even in the Underworld, he is guiding him. It is Tiresias' proclamation that is the last straw for Odysseus, it is by the power of a mouthpiece of Apollo that Odysseus decides to embrace his ruthlessness. It is with the bow and arrow that Odysseus subdues the siren who sought to trick him, likewise, Odysseus does not attempt to undermine or escape the fate of paying Scylla's passage price - he knows of the doom about to befall the six men and quite unlike the rest of the journey until this point, he does not fight against it. This all comes to a head on Thrinacia where it is a blade which sacrifices the sun god's cow and brings destruction upon the crew once more.
My point with all of this is that when I heard the teasers for God Games years ago, it made perfect sense to me that Apollo would be Round One - he is not Odysseus' adversary and has no reason to oppose Athena's wish to free him. From other teasers about what will happen in the climax of Epic, Apollo will still be walking alongside Odysseus - it is Apollo's bow that Penelope will give the suitors to string. Likewise, it is Apollo's bow that will prove Odysseus' legitimacy and identity. That bow will be the power by which Odysseus hunts his adversaries and cleans out his palace - it is Apollo who is the avatar of Odysseus' ruthlessness, not Athena.
So tell me, truly, what was the point of having Apollo raise a non-argument in God Games? Why have him appear unconcerned, aloof and slightly oblivious? Why have him appear in his capacity as the Lord of Music at all?? And if the intention was never to make Apollo an active player in Odysseus' life like he was in the Odyssey, why keep Odysseus as a primary archer?
The answer of course is that Apollo is inextricable from the fabric of the Odyssey - his influence and favour exudes from Odysseus just as much as Athena's. In Athena's ten year sulk, it would have been Apollo who kept Telemachus and Penelope safe. It would have been Apollo protecting Odysseus from Poseidon's gaze as he travelled the seas (according to the Odyssey anyway)
Forgive me for not being excited about something that I thought was being purposefully set up. I was extremely ecstatic about all of the little Apollonian details that litter the sagas because I know where this story ends up (loosely) but all God Games did was reveal that maybe those Apollonian details were not intentional at all, but merely the ghost of the Apollo who persistently haunts those he favours, even if he cannot explicitly come to their aide in an adaptation.

Lucy and the boys' first non-surprise date. Lucy tells them about Mina and Jonathan, happily married BABIES, and gets engaged.
Which is, of course, just a precursor to all of them becoming Arthur's sugar babies.

Saw a post by @toldasor about what if there was a dating sim where you play as Lucy, and that gave me a desperate urge to draw the Suitor Squad™️ as dating sim characters. I had way too much fun drawing these

People relegating Sige to being 'Wrio and Neuvi's daughter' miss out on the awkwardness and comedy of Wrio trying to get close to what is technically his Matron's kind of an uncle/old friend of family. Who is also old.
fellas is it gay to rizz your mother figure's mother figure? asking for a friend.

Gotta love how the locals ALL react to Jonathan. They see him head to the wolf's jaws, one who is known for his taste for youth and go "oh that's a baby... I must give up my OWN good luck charm for this kid!"
Jonathan's whole beginning is such innocence facing its first big experience. Very first step out of the hearth.
It also juxtaposes with Jack, Quincey and Arthur, who are experienced men who have had many adventures overseas already!
Jonathan being a child in the eyes of the locals is something that has been discussed a lot, but I still feel for them. Because in a way, Jonathan is still a child, he is away from home, fresh from exams and with a fiancee, to have his first job in the field.
So the locals see this young man who doesn't even speak their language, but is polite, and has the kind of freshness that only inexperienced young people have in his eyes. They don't think much of it until he tells them (in broken german) where exactly he is going. Then, after Jonathan's revelation what the locals only see is a walking corpse, or worse another young soul trapped for eternity.
What the inkeepeer's wife sees is a lonely mother in a candle lit home, waiting and waiting for any kind of news of her son, looking at the window for hours so she doesn't miss the arrival of that young man she raised, and sent to a foreing land.
What the locals see is another victim. It seems that horrible being lost the fascination for the taste of their young (or has already devoured so many), and now he is bringing more innocent young people to his cursed tomb of a castle.
So they try, and try to keep that young man away, but he is a stubborn english man (it's his first job he can't mess it up).
They see the determination of his eyes (or desesperation and confusion), and let him go.
Maybe if they give him some protections he can put the clues together, and survive (it's impossible). Maybe if the coachman goes faster than that devil he can make the young man wait for tomorrow.
Compare Jonathan to these charming men, older than him, who had already seen so much more. The three of them have the kind of "mindset" that Jonathan lacks when it comes to danger. However, I think that even with all of their experience, none of them would have survived what Jonathan has been through in the course of these days.
I know it sounds unbelievable, or even cruel. Still, based on their characters, and the kind of masculine archetype that each of them represent, would Arthur, Quincey and Jack see through Dracula? Absolutely they aren't fools. Would they survive the kind of game that Dracula has been playing with Jonathan? I don't think so.

Dc x dp idea:
Klarion gets his ass handed to him by young justice so hard that he is on the verge of death. With what little energy he has left he creates a teleportation sigil before passing out.
When he wakes up he’s in the far frozen with teekl 1 and 2 next to him and a yeti and a boy slightly older than him across the room talking.
After talking with frostbite and getting to know Danny, Dani and Jazz he becomes a part of the Phantoms and by extension, a prince of the Infinate realms.
He’s still allowed to cause chaos on earth but he needs to have a way to communicate with frightknight or Danny and have both his now immortal cats with him.
The same old song and dance happens until young justice visit the Infinate realms and attack Klarion on sight only to be arrested.

Good news: [redacted title] post season three fic word count has passed 34k words and is finally. fucking. outlined. Start to finish, scene by scene. Roy Kent in therapy. Roy Kent turning therapy into a competitive sport. Roy Kent grappling with what it means to be a coach. Touched starved Roy Kent making excuses for Jamie to live on his couch all summer. Jamie Tartt hiding his fucking problems while simultaneously trying to live on Roy’s sofa. Keeley running Colin’s Gay PR Crisis. The Richmond lads going undercover to spy on the rival Nigerian restaurant (poorly). It’s all drafted. It’s plotted. Entire scenes have been written. Ive done all the bits I usually struggle with. I just have to flesh it out - which is the part I like and am actually good at!
Bad news: it’s going to be so long. Jesus fucking Christ it’s going to be so long. I am not a brief person, and I really, specifically, critically need to articulate every reason the Jamie forgiving his dad storyline felt like a slap in the face. If this doesn’t balloon x3 past it’s current size I’ll eat my sandals.
Worse news: I can’t write chronologically to save my life so the odds of this seeing the light of day before it’s 95% done are basically non-existent, leaving me at the mercy of my own self-motivation.
The WORST MOST AWFUL NEWS: I HAVE A FULL TIME REAL ADULT FUCKING JOB AND SOMEHOW, WHEN I’D RATHER BE WRITING, I HAVE TO GO TO MEETINGS INSTEAD. FUCK. WHY.

I’m sure it’s been said more articulately elsewhere, but can I just say how much I love how Jonathan and Mina are placed amongst these Classic Heroic Gents (Stoker’s various Issues+ notwithstanding)?
While I have and will continue to feel two ways about how Mina is ultimately Madonna’d and damsel’d--Van Helsing and the Suitors going full diet misogyny/chivalrous, Jonathan just wanting to keep his wife out of the line of fire, Period--she’s so clearly established as a vital support the guys were missing. She brings intel, organization, and, what with the Victorian testosterone poisoning at play, an emotional anchoring point they can’t quite dare to seek out in their own best friends; Too Unmanly. Can’t Be Done.
Then they get introduced to Jonathan Harker.
He of the harrowing adventure in Castle Dracula! Scaling stone walls and cliffs on the fly twice! Slipping free from a den of four centuries+ old vampires alive! Coming within inches of a killing blow to the Count but for the damned trick of the basilisk gaze and the (un)timely arrival of Dracula’s men! Jack can’t have been the only one expecting a Man’s Man among their group.
But, no. Jonathan Harker is Jonathan Harker.
He of the golden retriever spirit and bottomless good manners and pretty eyelashes. If Mina is the nascent New Woman (don’t tell her that, she only knows what a New Woman is from the Punch comics), then Jonathan is the New Man. There’s no chest-pounding bravado, no jealousy at all these comparatively ‘threatening’ men--a lord, a rugged cowboy, a man who runs and owns his own asylum--gushing over his wife. It’s just as it was with Van Helsing.
Jonathan: Yes, Mina is amazing isn’t she? Please, continue telling me how great she is. :)
Mr. Harker, who spent two months imprisoned with the Terrifying Mega Vampire that needs an entire cadre of vampire hunters to attack, who was ready to see himself dead rather than risk joining the Brides, who landed a soulmate as fantastic as Mina...
...Is also the same Mr. Harker who takes comfort in law books and organizing paperwork, who pens wistful entries about nice meals and pretty landscapes and how much he loves his wife, whose defining trait when not in Vampire Hell is that of his friendly charm and kind nature.
He has endured nightmares and accomplished the unthinkable on par with the adventurous daydreams of any Classic Hero-Man of his era, yet he did it all while being the soft-spoken prettyboy sweetheart solicitor who stepped off the train and left Jack stunned.
Between his example and Mina being--to borrow a double-edged phrase from Abe-- ‘a pearl among women’ (that is, being openly intelligent, competent, nurturing, and proactive), I have to assume that there is plenty left unwritten in the diaries about how the Suitors Three are adjusting to the Harkers’ unconventional nature in their time and place.
And perhaps, after all the vampire business is over, they start taking some notes and undoing the performative chokeholds they have on themselves and their hearts.

I don't know a lot about Victorian name conventions but Seward being caled Jack (not even John) and persumably also saying Art instead of the last name and not even Arthur strikes me as big familiarity, so far.
This is a rather belated response but I agree with you, anon. The backstory hints are too entwined and for the most part the suitor squad seem to be quite close... but at the same time there are a couple odd moments like this where there's a possible element of clarifying who one of them is. Quincey for Jack, so far, but if I remember correctly a slightly similar moment with Jack for Quincey later on (though less pronounced).
If anything, I'd suspect that those two have been mostly out of touch for a while despite previously being close. But they both definitely seem to still be in contact with Arthur throughout. Maybe it's been a while since all three hung out together, and Jack and Quincey both respectively weren't fully sure that Arthur still remembered the other one super well/was spending time with them currently.
I could see a scenario where Quincey runs into Jack unexpectedly after proposing to Lucy and invites him to come drown his sorrows together and try to cheer themselves up/have a reunion party/congratulate Arthur. In this version I think both Jack and Quincey would know that Art also proposed successfully to Lucy, but maybe not about one another also trying to propose to the same woman until they start getting deeper into campfire storytime. Perhaps they hadn't been in contact at all for quite some time.
All that said though, I personally prefer them all to have remained in touch. I do personally think Arthur may have the closer relationships with each of them, but that's not to say Quincey and Jack don't get along or aren't familiar with one another just fine as well. I mean, I've also heard the Korea line speculated to be an in-joke, or maybe it could be just another facet of the 'good old days' Quincey is trying to remind Arthur about, who knows. As you say, they've got nicknames and everything, which certain feels more casual.
