people who say roadhog and junkrat are brothers or even father & son have such a blatant misunderstanding of their lore and dynamic. and i don't mean this to be rude or condescending at all! i just don't see how people can look at their relationship and see that.

it's okay to not ship roadrat, it's okay to not like it, and yes… it's okay to be uncomfortable with the ship because of its age gap and/or other reasons. but to say their relationship is familial is just... incorrect?

how can you see that lifeweaver and junkrat interaction and still think it's familial? like, i am genuinely asking. they are so clearly romantically coded, and to me, it just feels gross to misinterpret that.

again, not saying you have to like or ship it, but it's just... they are not familial whatsoever and i think people need to do some introspection on why they think it might be. not every friend duo with an age gap suddenly has a brother or father & son dynamic.

so i’m feeling better, relaxed a bit. i think i need to talk about my stance on the callout post with my name on it. this will be the final post i make about this. any asks i get about it will be answered privately unless i consider them important.

first of all, i would like to say that i don’t care who people ship together as long as it is fictional and as long as nobody is being harmed, i see no reason to throw a fuss over someone’s interests.

secondly, if you actively participate in callout posts like these, please block me. i don’t want to interact with you. i don’t like you.

thirdly, i am not a proshipper in the sense that i ship problematic/illegal ships. i simply believe fiction is fiction. i will never endorse ships like dreammare, fontcest, pjxfresh, etc., because they make me uncomfortable, but i won’t hate against anyone who disagrees.

lastly, don’t ever put me on a list like this again. this fucked with my day yesterday, and i’m here to enjoy my special interest. i want other people to enjoy my special interest. posts like these only drag people away. they only drag me away.

ship discourse in this fandom only tears us apart. a lot of us just want to have fun. by doing shit like this, nobody does. nobody has fun when they’re subject to harassment over fiction.

i cannot stress enough the use of blocking tags or blocking people. i have the dreammare tag blocked, because i don’t want to see it. i will never harass someone who makes this content, because the likelihood is that this isn’t the only thing they focus on. they’re human beings. they eat, sleep, drink, and enjoy the thrills of life, both online and offline.

some of these people need the internet, usually because they have nowhere else they can openly express their interests or because they’re going through something and need an escape. they can be a minor with an un-approving family, or an adult, who’s financially struggling to go to any events where they may find people with common interests. whatever it may be, everyone has a reason for their shipping choices. the most you can do is respect, because they may not be yours.

and yes, i support proshippers. personally i’m quite the fan of zu and syxadel, and i’m mutuals with people that are friends with kia. the point is i don’t care that they ship siblings together, because that doesn’t concern me. that’s their business, not mine. you aren’t required to like everything on a restaurant’s menu.

and for the love of god, don’t spread misinformation. my friend chair was listed as a proshipper on that list. i don’t know where the hell that anon got that info, but it is not. if you really want to make these posts, find evidence for your reasoning like you did in the 5th grade, dipshits.

i think the point of this was just to say don’t ever pull this again. not with me, not with anyone else. block and move on. don’t harass people, don’t send them death threats, don’t tell other people to harass their friends, don’t go on anon to tell other people to harass them, and don’t doxx them. don’t be a toddler.

besides the fact that comshippers are often traumatized, not everyone has the skills to create this very content that they want to use for trauma coping, and if comshippers are often traumatized => they often also have depression, (c)ptsd and many other conditions associated with a lack of energy to create content. viewing already drawn art and reading already written fanfics is much easier than drawing and writing them yourself.

by posting works in the public domain, they simply give the opportunity to see them to those who needed it and who do not have the energy to create and copy on their own. this is help.

I, in general, don't give 3 shit if you identify as an "anti" or "proship." I usually avoid both cause I loath shipping discourse with a passion and don't want anything to do with either partie.

If you ship something I'm not comfortable with, I will simply block you and move on. If you tend to get very adamant about shipping discourse, as well as the ships you dislike, I will block you because I don't want to hear it.

If you're going to associate me with something I'm not based on what I like that which isn't related to said label, then I will also block except you in particular can also go fuck yourself.

Saw a post of an anti saying that they are leaving AO3, as they are too uncomfortable to post their fics there now. The reason? They found out one of their long time readers was a proshipper, despite their fics having proship dni. And how "that includes silent readers too, I don't want you all looking at my content."

My brother in christ, you are posting on the fiction freedom site. The proshipping site. Dnis aren't god damn restraining orders. They are one tool in helping you display your boundaries. It's still on you to enforce your boundaries. You post something publicly, you forfeit your ability to regulate who can view your work. If you're obsessive enough, you can regulate who actually interacts with your work by stalking each person in the kudos list, comments, or bookmarks and then blocking snyone you don't like, but you do not get a say on who may silently read your posts. Not unless you private your work and only show it to specific people.

And if you don’t want proshippers to interact, get off the profic site.

literally just saw another “call out” post in my fandom, “this person ships these characters together, they support fucked up things in fiction. moots, unfollow them, they’re disgusting for liking these fictional things 🤢” can we please just. not do this? especially with all that’s going on in the world recently, can we please not try to take away people’s source of comfort? who cares what fictional things a person enjoys? they’re ✨fiction✨. they’re ✨not real✨. you don’t know what battle a person is going through outside of social media. you don’t know if fandom is literally the last source of happiness they have left. you don’t know if fandom is the only thing keeping them alive right now.

ask yourself, is it really worth it? you claim to be “morally superior” by “exposing” people who find comfort in fictional things you deem morally unacceptable. but is it really worth it if your words drove a person into harming themself?

are you really being morally superior by being the reason someone hurts themself?

these characters are fiction. but the person you’re harassing in the name of being morally superior is a real person with real feelings.

if you find something that you don’t like, instead of going out of your way to harass someone, scroll past it, ignore it, mute it, block it. and focus on the things you do enjoy.

with everything that’s going on in the world right now, now is the time we need to keep fandoms safe. they’re the last source of happiness some people have left.
