thinking of how arthur's "i thought i knew you. i trusted you." "why didn't you tell me?" "merlin, you're not a sorcerer I would know." were less "i trusted you and you lied to me?" and more "i trusted you, i thought you trusted me too?"

I've always felt that in terms of looks, John Constantine should stay looking like Sting but as Sting is famously into health and taking care of himself he shouldn't look as good as him. I don't mean make him ugly, there are plenty of issues where it's clear John can take care of himself and cleans up nicely but he's probably not going to get as expensive of a hair cut as Sting or have a personal chef/nutrition. He smokes constantly so his teeth are gonna be a bit worse for wear too.
I got frustrated with some of the later Hellblazer comics because in the beginning, John has clear ups and downs. Sometimes he looks great, his suit is neat, his hair is combed and he's going around confidently but then when shit hits the fan or his mental health suffers he can be seen looking unkempt and haggard. Later writers seemed to have him rolling off a perpetual bender which kind of took away from the realism of how John's mental health had been portrayed in the early stuff. Before, you knew he generally liked to be clean and to take care of his appearance. It makes it more painful, more human when you see him fall into depression and stop shaving or washing up. You know he's not supposed to be this way, you know it's not how he likes to be. You see the effects of his mental health suffering clearly. Later, when he's scruffy and scuffed up all of the time it's comes across as gimmicky and doesn't mean anything any more. The ups and downs of the character were one of the humanizing factors that really drew me to him in the first place and I know I'm not the first person to give my opinion on this but I was disappointed by this shift in interpretation and depiction. I didn't like him constantly being some slob who was just happy to roll around in filth and shit, when he get's like that it's because he's going through the bad times again. Otherwise it's just a meaningless gimmick.
So yeah, I maybe biased as a Sting- enjoyer but I like it when he looks like Sting. I just don't think he should be as generally fit and polished as Sting. I think of it as kind of like those pictures of identical twins where one twin smoked for 20 yrs and the other didn't. Also if one twin had vastly more money and didn't experience untold horrors every other week.

i cannot stress enough how important it is to write at your own pace. to give your mind and spirit room to breathe, to process your creativity and allow it to come organically to you. goals and discipline are a good and necessary part of any hobby, especially writing, but so is rest. rest prevents burn out. and if you push yourself until you burn out you will wind up taking even longer to complete projects or meet goals. even if you are already burnt out that's okay. this is your sign to give yourself the grace to take breaks. your story, your muses, your brilliant ideas will be waiting for you to pick them up with proper enthusiasm when you're ready.

You might think he's the normalest guy in pm in fact why is he even here he should be at the library LOUD WRONG BUZZER even mori is a little scared of him
His most favorite student is Tachihara Gin. His least favorite is Kajii because his ideal type is someone who loves lemons and that's it.
Higuchi: you won't believe what i heard about- Kunikida: idc abt rumors Higuchi: Kunikida: Kunikida: i have 5 minutes to spare
Hirotsu's smokimg buddy. He sometimes forgets Kunikida is 22 years old and not a single father with 4 kids in his mid 50s.
Akutagawa: I haven't been able to stop thinking about the weretiger ever since our last fight. Why do you suppose- Akutagawa: Akutagawa: No Kunikida: I'm going to hold your hand while i say this
If you see Chuuya drag him into a storage room by his tie and they come out twenty minutes later buttons undone and sweating... pretend you didn't see.

As a feminist, reading old books is sometimes a weird experience. It's not that I'm not prepared to big -sometimes massive- values dissonance, but the willful -at times outright obtuse- blindness authors seemed to have about the world around them is just...baffling.
Take the trope of the "Unhappy old maid", for example. There are tons of books -and tv shows, radio shows, movies, comic books and so on- that describe in-depths the horrors of a life as an unmarried woman past a certain age (what age it is, it mostly depends on the author's opinion). But at the same time, a lot of them also had to confront the sad reality that at least some women were unhappily married, and that husbands could and did make their wives' lives miserable. So they went on to also describe those particular horrors.
And this is where things get strange.
Surely, you may think, being an old maid had to be better than being married to an alcoholic who spent all your money and gave you an STD because he regularly hired sex workers, right? Nobody in the right mind could say otherwise!
Well, it turns out they could. In fact, many old-time novels did exactly that: they proceed to describe how horrible a wife's life could be, usually through no fault of her own, only to turn around and declare that marriage and children was the best thing that could happen to women and they'd better not become old spinsters, the worst fate a woman could have. Like, what?
This is why I don't quite believe that people just "didn't know any better" back then. Many of them willfully chose not to see the obvious reality in front of them and staunchly refused to connect the dots in favor of their own ideology. Or to appease some propaganda.
It's like in the 2000s when many tv shows had a sudden anti abortion message that came completely out of nowhere: many writers abviously knew opposing abortion is wrong and dangerous, but they still put these storylines because this is what was required of them.
