So, I downloaded an Incredibles poster for a new wallpaper, and I noticed something...
I noticed in the corner a framed picture of Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl along with other superheroes. The supers here are Everseer, Phylange, Hypershock, Apogee, Blazestone, Universal Man, Gamma Jack, Downburst, Macroburst, and Psycwave, all of which are superheroes killed by Syndrome... THIS MEANS THAT ALL 10 OTHER SUPERS WERE BOB'S FRIENDS! That explains why he was so horrified. He not only lost allies, but he lost literal FRIENDS! Hell, in his NSA audio file, he literally talks about Phylange, which suggested that they were close friends. In the comics, Everseer left instructions to the NSA shortly before his death to send a packet of information to Bob about a decade later, containing nostalgic entries about Stormicide and Gamma Jack. Everseer apparently foresaw his death years before the event, much to the confusion of Bob and Lucius who, whilst respecting his powers of telepathy, always considered his clairvoyance to be mere superstition. This led to Bob having to find the HARD way that Everseer was truly right. And all of this because he rejected his former fan.
“Universal Man is not really distinct from God; he is like the face of God in his creatures. By union with him, the spirit unites with God. Now, God is all and at the same time above all. He is at once immanent and transcendent; equally the spirit, in this state of Union, is united to creatures in their essences, by a direct intuition; at the same time it is like a diamond that mixes with nothing and is penetrated by nothing, because it participates in the Divine Reality which is sufficient unto Itself.”
Donna Haraway Reads The National Geographic on Primates
"...the markings of Universal Man are mediated through an animal, a primate Koko, who signifies not a female adolescent gorilla, or a particular animal at a particular place in a particular history, but rather, the animal represents Universal Man" (Haraway, 1987)
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
i'm very picky about tv shows, but my pickiness has only an incidental relationship to whether or not a show is "good". it needs to scratch a particular itch in my brain at the right moment. do i know what the right moment is? no. do i know what the itch is? also no. i can be relied upon to get instantly bored of 85% of tv shows and then turn the remaining 15% into a central facet of my personality for 3-5 business months and even i am incapable of predicting which one it'll be ahead of time.
