Because I enjoy making myself sad apparently I've decided to headcanon that Dream's whole "making it rain when he's sad" thing started out as a self-soothing gesture.

Like when he was young (or, y'know, young for an Endless) he would get upset and unconsciously make it rain because he loves the rain. He would listen to it patter against the palace walls, or go outside and enjoy the cold, clean air and the water against his face, maybe splash in a puddle or two if no one was looking, and it would help him clear his head and center him and then he felt better.

But then, he overheard and/or maybe someone said to his face something like "oh thank GOD you're feeling better so the rain's finally gone, it was so dreary/depressing/inconvenient/annoying/etc" and Dream was like. Oh. I did something Wrong. I'm being a bad ruler. It doesn't matter if it makes me feel better it's more important to take care of my subjects and make sure they're happy.

So Dream tries his very very best to metaphorically sit on his hands when he's feeling bad but it's hard, it's not something he's fully in control of, and it actually gets worse because now instead of enjoying the rain and feeling better fairly quickly, he feels guilty and frustrated and ashamed which makes him feel even worse which makes it rain more and it turns into a vicious cycle.

I'm not sure if he tells Hob all this or if Hob just puts the pieces together himself, but I think he starts being very open to Dream about how much he loves the rain too (and he's not lying or anything, he really does love the rain, he's just a little louder about it when Dream is around). I think he also gives an impromptu lecture about the value of stimming and how people should respect it (under the guise of something with a student or something idk) and maybe Lucienne and Matthew get recruited to help too, and I haven't figured out how it ends but it ends with Dream learning to enjoy the rain again and wait shit oh goddammit now I have another wip fuck me

Somehow Sparkle’s detonator buttons are considered an actual threat and a subplot is dedicated to making sure that nothing bad happens, only for the buttons to ignite fireworks or something equally silly

Sunday is found alive but defects to the Everflame Mansion’s side in an attempt to outrun consequences

The Destruction/Duke Inferno and his family are finally relevant to Penacony

2.3’s main event is something to do with business management (like the museum event) but this time ✨IPC flavoured✨

Boothill and Aventurine end up on good terms by the end of 2.3’s epilogue quest

Robin is chosen to become the new head of the family but ends up recommending some new, soon-to-be-playable character

Alternatively this is an Alhaitham situation where she’s the ‘temporary Family head’ and is trying to find any way to give someone else the title

Gopher Wood mysterious disappears (flees) from Penacony

After Aventurine is saved (?) from Boothill, Ratio says something like ‘…I’m glad you’re safe, dear gambler.’

Jade’s first appearance is major deja vu for Aventurine’s first appearance in Penacony

Firefly shows up and subtly hints at what our next destination is

Jade turns out to be sympathetic because she also grew up under tough conditions like Topaz and Aventurine

Completely ignoring Han Gyeol's canon personality or dislike of hyunjae (because I haven't actually read the novel yet, I just got access) so this is Very Much an AU but :

I want a fic of Sung Hyunjae being a doting father, please and thank you 😭😭 at this point I'll write it myself if I have to because??? Imagine dad!hyunjae?? His aura and eyes both softening near his kids and he'd the type that teases them a lot but it's never truly sadistic like it is with others, like,,, y'all know the exceedingly gentle sjh in the mindscape when yoojin talked about his regression? That's what I'm taking about

And and! Gyeol calling yoojin daddy as expected BUT he also calls Hyunjae as papa?? SOFT FAMILY FEELS??

And he'd be such a protective man too, I ain't forgetting how when he saw yoojin afraid of him because Song lowered his fear resistance and this man went "what have you done?" and just,, straight up kicked song across the face, none of his usual elegance and melee attacks found in that moment

Like just,,,, I can't decide what'd be better, having gyeol living with hyunjae in the fic? Everyone knowing that the Jupiter guild master has only One Soft Spot and that is for his son who also adores him to bits without being afraid, when one day Yoojin gets seriously injured and Gyeol just throws himself off Hyunjae's grip to run at Yoojin screaming "daddy" all the way?

Or having Gyeol live with Yoojin and no one knowing Hyunjae is the other parent (although some people have their suspicion) until one day some unfortunate fool manages the miracle of kidnapping him and both Yoojin and Hyunjae are on the warpath?
