My 5 year old requested “a spooky background with a witch flying across the moon, all the stars, and rocks out front” for our haunted hotel. I saved myself some time with paper punches, but it still took a surprising amount of time to whip this together. We had such an amazing time learning about the different kinds of maple trees and the best kinds for #maplesugaring this past week while visiting v one of our favorite educational farms 🌻. . . Check out the #maplesyrup we brought home and have been using for #breakfast on Pancakes and even on granola. . . The lighter the syrup the closer to the beginning of the season it was drawn. The darker the Syrup, the later in the season it was drawn. . . We usually enjoy the more sugary darker syrup - so we decided to try the lighter, less sweet when getting our keepsake syrup. . . The rest of the monsters finished drying and decided to hang out in the haunted hotel. They’ll be going to their new homes soon and this weekend, we’re carving pumpkins!!! I’m so excited!! Usually, we have a few guests over to carve with us and make it a party, but sadly, we won’t be able to do that because of the pandemic this year. I will be simmering cinnamon and all spice in apple juice (from Whole Foods, so it’s still pulpy and thick like cider), my husband will roast the pumpkin seeds-he has a knack for it- and we will watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. Today, I set up an invitation to create for my daughters- glitter and metallic markers and pens on black poster board. Pretty soon in, my youngest wanted help drawing Hello Kitty, so I googled a tutorial and found a good one on Wikihow. She wanted me to hold her hand and help her draw, which was apparently super funny, so we got a squiggly Hello Kitty.
