im busy with an art trade but wanted 2 share some recent scraps of charlie. i haven't posted abt her in years oh my god

list of problems the removal of icons causes:

i cant see my friends

ruins the sense of community

can't tell at a glance who's online right now and what they're interested in

literally cannot tell without scrolling back up who put a post on my dash if it has a single addition attached to it. or like. 2 paragraphs in the op.

i cant click my own icon at the top of the dash to quickly view my own blog

can't tell who someone used to be if they change their username

squashes the margins between the menu and posts, making the whole dash feel more cramped

ruins the quick visual cue of how long each post is and where it ends when you're trying to scroll past ones youve seen before

people put a lot of creativity and individuality into icons, and now i never see them

makes people who primarily reblog instead of make their own posts all but completely disappear

ive never in my life seen a website or app that has profile pics forcibly HIDE them, so i guess you did it you made the dash unique again in the worst way

here's some more feedback: maybe when you run an a/b test you should, idk, actually have a feedback form people can fill out about it somewhere

PSA: Tumblr/Wordpress is preparing to start selling our user data to Midjourney and OpenAI.

you have to MANUALLY opt out of it as well.

to opt out on desktop, click your blog ➡️ blog settings ➡️ scroll til you see visibility options and it’ll be the last option to toggle.

to opt out on mobile, click your blog ➡️ scroll then click visibility ➡️ toggle opt out option.

if you’ve already opted out of showing up in google searches, it’s preselected for you. if you don’t have the option available, update your app or close your browser/refresh a few times. important to note you also have to opt out for each blog you own separately, so if you’d like to prevent AI scraping your blog i’d really recommend taking the time to opt out. Threaded Replies are here!

Ever find it difficult to figure out what someone is replying to? Same! Now, when you reply to someone’s reply, it’ll create a nice indented thread. 

Reply to a thread by clicking the reply icon at the bottom of a comment or tapping the meatball menu on a reply, then hitting “Reply.” 

Collapse a thread of comments with “Hide replies” or load more with “Show more replies.” 

Threads are only one level deep—replies to a thread will show at the end of that thread. 

You’ll be notified when someone replies to you.

This should help keep conversations in replies more organized, meaning you don’t have to scroll back to find the beginning of an exchange: It’s in a thread!

since tumblr is removing icons on the side of posts on the dashboard i think they should also remove them inside the posts

and then they should change the way the reblogs look so that each addition is below and on the left of the previous one so that it makes a sort of stairs shape

maybe they could even underline every username!

oh and they should also add vertical lines for every reblog, i think it would look cool

and if there's a ton of reblogged additions they should make the first few ones all squished and stuff to the point where every letter has it's own line and you're just reading words vertically
