Needle Lace Resources
This is a very long post, so I'm including a cut.
Tutorial-like Things, Others' Work
An overview of the stages of needle lace (specifically learning from Alençon, I believe. They link to a documentary type of video on Alençon lace): https://www.taixtile.com/needle-lace-first-steps/. This blog has links to other resources (one link is broken, if I recall correctly).
A very approachable first project, I think. From a lace maker who has done very cool illustrations with lace, Maggie Hensel-Brown: https://youtu.be/OLuRpJ96p4Q?si=gqBWqYxa755gFozr
This channel has videos of the stages of needle lace making. They specifically demonstrate Irish lace, I believe. But the stages are very similar to or the same as the stages in Alençon lace. https://youtu.be/dZVagIFCnLc?si=d8lRnPsmz5iTM0Z_
Pierre Fouché has a video about making dense filling stitches and even doing short rows to makes curves (something I tried but did not yet succeed at): https://youtu.be/DK5cMQND3b8?si=qySmT9yaoTcpsUV9 He also does really cool bobbin lace illustrations by constructing patterns in cell-like units.
An embroiderer tries needle lace in two videos. In one of them she tries different styles from different places: https://youtu.be/eTO7dA4oyl4?si=VInx35kql115bIIo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9Wa6-Qf5xw
Example of a different style of needle lace. Unsure what it is exactly. Some sort of cut work or reticella, idk: https://youtube.com/shorts/7DFogWC3tDI?si=uju74sPFbRj3_wrn
Sampler directions: https://youtu.be/oDKBfjDYBnU?si=shQYvaT4kAZD7BgV
Again, a more geometric style of needle lace. I don’t know the particulars of this style (styles?), since I’ve mostly been looking into styles similar to Alençon because I’m aiming for more illustration-like lace. This channel has multiple videos demoing and explaining that process: https://youtu.be/gJd6mkrsUCQ?si=AfVIiwljHvfismrX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6dk721UwW4
Not so much instructions but video of a very skilled lacemaker working on a project: https://youtu.be/01H2GdEXLrs?si=2suFHSG4Kwa6Yl2m
Another lacemaker's work on their blog. I don’t know if they do as much lace making as they do other needle arts https://www.robesdecoeur.com/blog/needlelace-my-work-so-far
A lacemaker's work... the site is older and kind of tricky to navigate. Like. there's no home button, as far as I can tell. Album of their work: https://www.lacemakerslace.oddquine.co.uk/album/index.html Home page, I think: https://www.lacemakerslace.oddquine.co.uk/
Useful/Interesting Things to Know
Alençon lace -- specific French style from the Alençon region, which has a history of point lace and a current institution dedicated to preserving the skills and producing lace. This is the style that I was looking at examples of to try and learn from.
Search terms like different styles of lace that I’m not qualified to talk about but you can look into and do research on: Battenburg, point de gaze (very very fine work, like gauze)… More to be added as I learn about them.
The terms "needle lace" and "point lace" are both used to refer to lace made with a needle. I'm unclear on if there are subtle distinctions between them or if it's simply a matter of location. But having versions of a search query for both terms should help find more results than just using one.
Encyclopedia of Needlework by Therese De Dillmont is an excellent resource to learn how to do different stitches. It seems these stitches mostly come from Irish lace, according to the book. HTML copy of book available on Project Gutenberg here: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/20776/20776-h/20776-h.htm I recommend using ctrl+f to search for "lace stitch" on the page. The end of each chapter in the HTML version seems to have a link to the Table of Contents that is at the end of the entire document. It has chapters for plenty of other needle arts, so it's a good resource all around.
If you want to find examples of needle lace, look on Wikimedia Commons! Using a variety of search terms will help you find more material for inspiration/observation than otherwise
If you want to design your own needle lace depicting objects, it might be worth looking at stained glass to see how larger shapes are broken up into smaller shapes that still feel complete.
You can use multiple colors! Let yourself use multiple colors, like stained glass!
Thoughts from the Learning Process So Far (some terminology used here, look them up so you know what the actual definitions are, but I’ll define what I mean by them)
Tacking vs Couching... I'm unsure about the actual definitions so I may be using them wrong here. In the videos I’ve seen tacking seems to be making a stitch that runs along the way the cordonnet will run. Couching seems to be just when the thread that secures the cordonnet comes up through the backing and goes down through the backing at the same point. With these definitions… Tacking went faster for me than doing couching, but it feels a lot less secure and precise for the form of lace I’m making. Unless I made the tacking stitches perpendicular to the cordonnet's path, the outline cord moved too much due to tension. If it's perpendicular and not a very short stitch, it might get in the way of your filling stitches or binding off stitches. Which might be fine, since you pull them out anyways. But it would also mean more holes in the backing, and at some point the holes are too close together and might tear the backing and pattern. I don't like that. Couching—much, MUCH more tedious for me because I’m not practiced at making the needle come up in exactly the right spot. but it feels more secure to me. The outline seems to be less affected by tension as you work. And I took some shortcuts for couching that helped. I don’t couch the doubled cord, instead I whip stitch back over the already-secured cord. I might make a post to demonstrate what I mean. It kind of messes with the shape/placement of my cordonnet, but for the sake of my impatience I’m willing to sacrifice the precise shape.
Backing material... To use fabric in backing like the instructions usually say, or not? Idk. For me, it’s hard to find the right hole for the couching stitches when I can't see my pattern from the back. It took a lot of trial and error until I got a feel for how to predict where my needle would come up. I don't like the way the poke-and-check method of stitching the cordonnet down tends to rip the pattern up (at least, with my easy-to-access materials. Probably better with better materials and more practice. Using my thumb to find approximately the right spot helped, but not enough). So I just used a sandwich of tape/paper/tape as my backing. If you're willing to fuss around with fabric in your backing, it might make it easier to remove the couching threads after you're done, and when I tried. The directions I've seen usually say to use a backing of doubled-up fabric, clay paper (I'm unsure what this is. might be a thicker paper than cardstock, or it might be paper made to contain clay particles. Probably more like the first option), and contact paper. My last attempt at making a backing used notebook paper (or other type of paper) with packaging tape on both sides to provide a smooth surface and structure. I think it worked fairly well, and I didn't have to figure out where to buy contact paper (or figure out exactly what contact paper was).

罠英語・Trap Words pt 5
ソース → ❌ Sauce → ✅ Japanese style worchestershire sauce
In Japanese common usage, the word 「ソース」 only refers to a specific subcategory of sauce - japanese style worchestershire sauces. Although in certain technical circumstances, 「ソース」 may also carry the broader meaning that the english equivalent does, calling something like soy sauce 「ソース」 in a regular conversation won’t get your meaning across.¹
We can see this in the Japanese Wikipedia article for ソース. Though the article is about the broader definition of sauce, there is a notice at the top of the page:
“This article is about the general name for a liquid or paste used to season food (the broad definition of 「ソース」). For Worchestershire Sauce (the narrow definition of 「ソース」), see Worchestershire Sauce.”² (my translation)
Side note: I know it's a meme but "Worchestershire" isn't hard to say. It's just "wooster-sheer".
Though ソース can be found as a part of various other words ( ミートソース/meat sauce; ホワイトソース/white sauce; トマトソース/tomato (pasta) sauce), when it is used just by itself, it almost exclusively refers to worchestershire sauce varieties. For example, you can’t abbreviate ミートソース to ソース, even when the context is clear.
Within the category of what Japanese speakers mean when they say ソース, we have ウスターソース, which is similar to the thin English Worchestershire sauce; 濃厚ソース, which is sometimes marketed as tonkatsu sauce and is very thick and viscous; and 中濃ソース which is somewhere in between. お好み焼きソース is also a type of ソース, similar to 濃厚ソース.³
グリーンピース → ❌ Greenpeace → ✅ peas
Yep… the word グリーンピース doesn’t refer to the environmental activism organisation Greenpeace, which I discovered to some surprise during an actual conversation with my Japanese partner. Since Greenpeace is famous for its anti-whaling stance, and Japan is the country with the highest levels of whaling in the world,⁴ it was only natural to assume that it was a direct transliteration of the organisation’s name. Maybe it’s a common point of discussion in Japan, I thought.
In reality, it literally just means peas. Green peas. An instance of the plural being built into the transliteration (like バケツ), since Japan has no plurals. It’s weird that it’s not グリーンピーズ though, don’t you think? I guess we can just chalk that up to an initial pronunciation error that carried though to the modern day.⁵
Why hasn’t it been shortened to ピース? Well:
Because ピース means “the peace sign”. This word/pose is so common in Japanese culture that shortening グリーンピース to ピース would likely be confusing.
To be clear, the organisation’s name is also transliterated as グリーンピース, but overwhelmingly in regular conversation, グリーンピース will mean “peas”.
トレーナー → ❌ trainers (sneakers) → ✅ sweatshirt
This might not necessarily be a trap word for people from the US, but it is at least a funny place for 和製英語 to show up. According to this source, this word was invented by a fashion designer named Kensuke Ijizu, who was apparently a big boxing fan, and noticed that the trainers always wore sweatshirts, and so decided to name the clothing 「トレーナー」 when he released his designs in Japan⁶. It’s rare that a trap word has such a clear explanation for how it came about! めっちゃスッキリした!
However, スウェット and スウェットシャツ are also both commonly used in Japanese, meaning the same as トレーナー, so this is really only a problem while listening, not while speaking.⁷ It’s also worth noting that トレーナー does mean “trainer” as in like, a personal trainer. That’s where the weird word for sweatshirt comes from, after all.

四手辛夷[Shidekobushi] Magnolia stellata
四手[Shide] : Sacred paper streamer used in Shintō
辛夷[Kobushi] : M. kobus
The petals are usually a rather pale pink, but some are darker, and their buds and the beginning of bloom are even darker.
Shide is also written as 垂, 紙垂, 椣 or 幣. But 幣 is most commonly read as nusa or hei, and shide and nusa are slightly different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gohei

Itoko listens in silence. Ono-san also listens in silence. The hazy sky when sakura blooms gradually descend. Heavy clouds pile up, weighing down Yayoi(the third month of the lunar calendar) with a gloomy mood. The daytime gradually darkens. Goshaku(5-shaku, about 1.5 meters) away from the Tobukuro(box for containing shuttersdoor pocket,) on the Sodegaki(low fence flanking a gate or entrance,) the flowers of Shidekobushi stand in a line of mysterious colors. Looking closely through the trees, two or three intermittent threads of rain are seen on occasion. It was thought they appeared (to run) momentarily in a diagonal direction, but then disappear right away. It is difficult to believe that they are falling from the sky, much less that they are falling to the ground. The life of the threads lasts just over Isshaku(1-shaku, about 30 centimeters.) 虞美人草[Gubijinsō](Field Poppy) by 夏目 漱石[Natsume Sōseki] Source: https://www.aozora.gr.jp/cards/000148/files/761_14485.html https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/219618541 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwO1kruewsA

BIBLIOGRAPHY - “ANIME FOODIES: LAID-BACK CAMP THE MOVIE”
This is the bibliography for our entry in the Anime Foodies series of panels, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp The Movie”. The sources include not only places from which we garnered background of the food we were cooking, but also sources that helped us determine how to craft our own version of the recipes we were creating.
This is the second Anime Foodies panel which has a formal bibliography of sources. Those marked with double asterisks are regular sources we’ve used in all of the panels in the series and are a good starting point for anyone interested in Japanese food and its history.

if you dont mind me asking how do you even do all the fancy text stuff on your fics? i havent used tumblr since the tumbpocalyspe of '16 and i feel so old and confused with this new fangled blog design...
asking for uh "reasons" *wink*
also tom hardy is def my top pick for a live action john hancock I just feel he'd embody the character the best
──★ ˙🍓 ̟
not at all! thankfully it's not too difficult 😊
what you're going to want to do is go to this text gradient generator and input what starting color and ending color you want (or you can randomize it - regardless you'll need an HTML color code). you'll also choose which direction you want your gradient to go - i usually go with horizontal.
then you'll type your text in the box provided, when done it should look something like this:
once you have it looking how you want it, you'll go down to this section and copy the HTML code:
from there you need to go into your post -> settings -> text editor, and select HTML instead of rich text:
once you do that, you're going to take the HTML code you copied from the gradient website and insert it. you can then preview it. it should show up as your gradient and then you can use tumblr's editor to adjust the size, bold/italics etc. tip: you can type in the HTML preview as you normally would without issue.
once you're done, go ahead and post ❤️it should display correctly and revert back to rich text. i hope this helps! let me know if you have any more questions about it/have any issues~
and i am v curious about these reasons 👀 also yes!! he's got the voice and the build, and would get the mannerisms down pat - really bringing hancock to life imo.

Yu-Gi-Oh thought
I'm in a Yu-Gi-Oh mood for some reason and just watched a really neat video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mArpqqJi58A) that argues that Thief King Bakura might not have been been Egyptian.
It's super cool and I love the theory, but I'm wondering if maybe there's another reason why he looks so different and has a name that isn't Egyptian. Although, I am taking a few liberties here. I'm counting being trapped in jewelry for 3,000 years as something of an afterlife since his physical body is definitely dead.
According to Egyptian mythology: "The name was regarded as an essential part of an individual, as necessary for the survival of the deceased in the After-life as the ba, akh, and the preserved corpse. The name of an individual was preserved by its inclusion in funerary texts, either on papyrus or on the tomb walls. Should they wish to do so, later generations could destroy the existence and memory of a deceased individual by removing their name from their tomb." (https://factsanddetails.com/world/cat56/sub403/item1949.html)
Bakura probably wouldn't have had any kind of funeral rites done. He didn't have any family to have taken care of that. He may not have thought ahead to do it himself if he thought he was going to win his fight with Atem. And nobody around him would've wanted him to have access to the afterlife; they probably just dumped his body somewhere to rot.
There's also this moment in the anime:
During mumification, "They left only the heart in place, believing it to be the center of a person's being and intelligence." (https://www.si.edu/spotlight/ancient-egypt/mummies#:~:text=They%20left%20only%20the%20heart,jars%20today%20called%20canopic%20jars.)
Since Bakrua's heart and name weren't preserved, it makes sense (in my head) that his soul wouldn't remember what his name was or what he looked like. So what he does is take on the name and appearance of his host.
It's been a while since I've seen/read the series, but if I remember correctly, the last season doesn't actually take place in ancient Egypt. It takes place on an rpg board created by Ryou under the direction of Bakura.
What's on the board is going to be what information Bakura and Zorc have. All the major players aside himself were high ranking individuals and most likely given good enough burials that would've granted them access to the afterlife. (Which is supported by Atem seeing all these people after Yugi beats him in the final dual of the series, but not Bakura.) So Bakura would've had information on them, but nothing about himself.
Nothing except things that Zorc remembered. Which is liberty number two. Zorc may have only remembered things to keep this fight going like Bakura's motivation, the fact that he lost/didn't get his revenge the first time he and Atem faced off, and what happened in their last fight (so he could learn from it and maybe win this time).
TLDR:
Video theory: Bakura's non Egyptian appearance and name are due to him not being Egyptian.
My crazed ramblings: Bakura's name and appearance were borrowed from his host because he doesn't remember either of those things due to not being given the necessary funeral rites.
#Yu-Gi-Oh#Bakura#Thief King Bakura#NOT FATE RELATED#I'm not bothering with spoiler tags because the series has been over for almost 20 years.

"New Turkey" Introductory Reader
I did so much research for my paper that the final product barely scratched the surface of what I've read or looked up in the course of writing it. As such, I feel like the scope of my paper is very basic compared to the depth of the issue. (And considering how quickly I wrote it, frankly I'm not that sure of its actual writing quality.)
My research topic was current Turkish politics, centering on recent policies of President Erdogan and his party, the AKP, who have dominated the country since the mid-2000s. In particular I wanted to look into the roots of, and meaning behind a sort of party motto/discourse/policy umbrella which started in 2014 when Erdogan became president and announced the arrival of a "New Turkey."
This motto has frequently been compared to "Make America Great Again," and is just as bold and lacking in specific meaning. It is also the mission statement behind much of what's happening in Turkey's social and political climate right now, so for anyone interested in what's been going on in Turkey in the recent past, or curious about where the country's current direction is leading, the "New Turkey" idea is central to everything.
Rather than just delete all my references I thought I would share them here for anyone who's interested. Consider this a bit of "New Turkey" intro. It includes most of what I used in my bibliography and some other sources I looked at but didn't get to include.
I'm including some newspaper articles here-- these are all very introductory-- they're helpful for people with no background at all on Turkey, as well as for anyone who's interested and doesn't want to go through an entire paper's worth of books and articles. All these should be accessible for most people, I think.
“Erdogan Elected Turkey’s President, Promises ‘New Era.’”
"21st Century Will Be the Century of Türkiye: Erdoğan."
"Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sworn in as Turkish President; Swearing-in Ceremony Caps Monthslong Campaign."
"Erdoğan's split personality: the reformer v the tyrant"
"Turkey, lavish new presidential palace proves divisive."
"Turkey Rages at Shoddy Construction of 'Earthquake-Proof' Homes."
(Also looking up information on the Gezi Park protests from 2013 or Fethullah Gülen and his movement will be helpful for newbies as well.)
Behind the cut is all the more scholarly stuff. I've included entries in citation form so all the info you could need is there; I've also included links to everything but I don't know how many will be accessible everywhere, or to people without accounts, or even usable (I had a couple links stop working during the process of writing this.) Hopefully even if you can't access them all through the links provided, looking up the article information or even reaching out to the author will get you access. Happy reading!

Haii I checked out ur website for ashes and was bored so i modified like 3 things (in my browser) so if u want u can use the code!
<html><head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"> <title>The Ashes Homepage</title> <meta name="color-scheme" content="dark light"> <style> body { font-family: Comic Sans MS, Comic Sans, cursive; display: flex; flex-direction: row; } body > * { display: flex; flex-direction: column; padding: 5px; } </style> </head>
<body> <section id="about"> <h1>Ashes, The Website</h1> <h2>(because i needed to organize the links or else shit would get out of hand real fast)</h2> <p> Welcome to this extremely barebones Neocities that my friend Quincy gave me the idea to make! I know there's a really low chance that anyone would ever try and make a duplicate of it but just in case, hello this is the official thing, the person typing this is tumblr user/ao3 author extraordinaire darubyprincxx, but you can just call me/us Keys or Six.</p> <h3>So, what is this for and why does it even exist?</h3> <p>About eight months ago at the time of writing this, I started writing a fanfiction titled "(i'll tend to the flames, you can worship the) ashes" <a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/42601899">over on ao3</a>, named after the chorus of <a href="https://youtu.be/crq-qc_r6Jk">this The Longest Johns song</a>. The fic is set in the aftermath of the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIh39HoDzao&list=PLehe4fdjKD0-jvHil8N_5hpLDnA-u85mW">Empires SMP Season One</a> apocalypse and features characters played by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@GeminiTayMC">GeminiTay</a>, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@fWhip">fWhip</a>, and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@Pixlriffs">Pixlriffs</a>. The reason why I am up at 11:30 PM eight months later teaching myself HTML for this is because since then, I've talked about it a lot over on our Tumblr and done some things in other places as well. There's a whole ass playlist that can be found on two platforms, a dedicated tag for it on our blog, and even an unlisted YouTube video of us reading the first chapter of the fic.</p>
<p>Basically, the project has sprawled over quite a large portion of the Internet since we've started it, and I wanted to have a centralized place for all that external stuff for ease of access and also because the opening notes on the fic itself are getting really, <em>really</em> long.</p> <p>For now, this page will probably stay extremely bare-bones- just a couple of paragraphs of important shit, hyperlinks, and dark mode. I finally defeated dark mode. It is 12:45 AM and the site colors are successfully not flashbangy.</p> <div></div></section>
<section id="meta"> <h2>Links for Things About and Related To the Fic</h2> <ul> <li><a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/42601899">Direct link to the fic on ao3</a> </li> <li><a href="https://darubyprincx.tumblr.com/search/ashes+au">Tag for the fic on our Tumblr blog</a> </li> <li><p>Fic Playlist </p> <ul> <li><a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOPTPqrotfhU6ln39eg1pG_qCzegoM0Ub">(YouTube)</a> </li> <li><a href="https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2HzC6x58YiSxyCr9Na0d6N?si=9486aaa1cf9048e5">(Spotify)</a> </li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="https://youtu.be/amnh3xAr_vw">Chapter One Narration (Unlisted)</a> </li> <li><p>Masterdoc (where we explain the nuances and symbolism and shit in the fic) [Coming Soon]</p> </li> </ul> <h2>Use Cases</h2> <p>I, the author of this work, give permission for those who wish to do so to download this fic for noncommercial uses such as sharing between friends or backing up physically for archival purposes, to make art (whether visual or musical) of scenes depicted in the fic, and to share snippets of the fic via screenshot or use in a video or article with credit to me via link to the work itself and naming me as the author. I ask that no extensions or fic of this fic (theories do not count) be written, for personal preference reasons.</p> <p>I do not give permission for people to repost my work without my explicit permission, pass it off as their own, use the fic in A.I datasets or submit its content in any way, shape, or form to A.I machines, or use it for commercial use in any way, shape, or form. Any of the actions mentioned in this paragraph go against the author's word for how this fic may be used and some of these cases can have actions taken against the perpetrator.</p> <p>If you have any questions about the points mentioned above, please email me at <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a> or send an ask to <a href="https://darubyprincx.tumblr.com/">my Tumblr blog</a>. </p> </section> </body></html>
This one has a two column layout and automaticaly switches to light or dark mode based on the users preference!
If u wanna add the auto style switch (which is importiant for accesability) then you can just paste
<meta name="color-scheme" value="dark light">
into the head element if you want!! (dont forget to remove the background-color and color properties from the css or theyll override it)
this is all /nf so feel free to delete or ignore the ask :3
this just deleted the original colors. thanks though i guess

Soft-Launching Myself with a Dev Diary No One Asked For
Author: panychu
The beginning of an adventure
Hi everyone!
Today, I will be humbly sharing a passion project I've been quietly developing for quite some time now. It's ambitious, full of heart, and still updating in real time.
Me!
(Also known as Pany.)
In this personal little dev diary, we'll be going through everything from soft skills, community magic, creative passion and a strong desire to be part of something meaningful. And while it does feel a little weird writing about myself like I'm a game update, I promise it'll be worth it if you bear with me and the quirkiness…
Now, full disclosure: I'm not going to pretend that this project is 100% ready for launch. But then again - does a perfect lauch even exist?
This is one of those cases where your passion leaves you no choice but to just hit "Go" and see what happens, no matter what. So here I am - genuinely passionate and excited to find my place at Envar.
Lore and all that good stuff!
Every hero's journey starts somewhere. Mine started… on deviantArt. It was the first platform that was my serious taste in creating a community, and maybe the purest experience of what it feels like when it's based around creativity, genuine engagement and unapologetic nerdiness.
So, while my Naruto-phase isn't my most sophisticated era, I do feel something close to pride (cringe-flavored pride, but pride nonetheless) when I think about 12-year-old me hosting massive forum-based art and fanfiction contests for hundreds of users - all fueled by pure passion and a very questionable understanding of HTML. It was my first taste of building and managing a community that was growing fast and big, escalating into character-driven ask-blogs, fan-discussions that led to many comics being created, and funny video edits.
The journey has since then been anything but linear, and I've come to accept that my chaotic roadmap so far is the result of a deep seated curiosity. In life, I've bounced between studying psychiatry, philosophy and rhetoric at university, switching to art school and diving into my passion for animation, and also working with event management and content creation professionally.
That Naruto-loving, forum-post-editing kid turned into someone who still thrives at creating spaces for people to connect in new ways like moderating Discord servers, organizing events online and offline, and creating things that get people engaged.
If there's one lesson I keep learning, it's this: Magic happens when people connect, and create together.
Game features: Pany's Core Mechanics
I haven't shipped any big game titles but I do still think Pany v. 2025 is going to be a great fit as your Community Manager, based on her current stats and features.
Creative Leadership: I've directed and production managed several animated projects, acted as a very active class representative in each class I've been in, and coordinated events online and offline. I co-founded an indie animation studio, where I've hosted animation jams with talented creators, and today we're producing a teaser for a little YouTube series that’s already started building a following, even pre-announcement. I'm organized, social and agile in how I work, especially when I lead teams.
Event Management: In my home-town Uppsala, I felt so frustrated about how hard it was to collect with fellow nerds, so I started a convention called "Continue". I created a lively community, built and managed a team and brand around it that became a huge success, with events held every quarter. Later, I have also worked as a main organizer at Scandinavias biggest Con - Närcon - for several years. I was responsible for guests, panelists and speakers as well as coming up with and hosting activities on stage, like Q&A sessions and panels.
Content Creation & Community building: I worked professionally with YouTube on the channels DunderHumor & ThunderHumor - doing voice acting, live-streaming, content-creation, illustration and animation in projects, collaborating with companies like Disney and Partykungen. I was very active setting up livestreams and connecting with fans live, in comment sections, and on-site events. Right now I'm an intern at Dataspelsbranschen and Game Town in Stockholm as a community manager and event orginizer. It's a place where I've felt incredibly at come, in a community of ambitious game developers and creatives.
Narrative and Voice: Communication has always been my strong suit (and somehow my internet slang hasn't ruined it yet) and I know how to put both passion and clarity into getting people engaged. I've built stories from scratch - both written and spoken - with a deep appreciation for storytelling craft across inspiring games, writing, and illustration/animation.
You get all of this, and a little more of course!
Pany v.2025 Bonus Stats Highlights:
-10% Nerf: Thinking too much about Sonic the Hedgehog. +20% Buffed: Art skills. Passive ability: Really really really fast typer. Active ability: Master of engaging in discussion about basically anything. ∞ Passion for roleplaying and writing stories. Special Move 1: Editing EVERYTHING into video montages. Special Move 2: Can sound like an actual seagull.
Next steps on the journey
So, I’m a certified (paradoxically extroverted) internet gremlin, incurable creative, and community-building enthusiast raised on fandom forums and huge conventions. You know the tip of the Pany v.2025 iceberg now… but what would I actually do as your Community Manager? Let’s talk about my quests.
As a result of playing a lot of League, I’ve been following Envar for years. Not just passively lurking, but actively following, being stunned by splash arts, environment art and concepts, and that signature, vibrant visual storytelling that puts your work on another level. I felt genuinely hyped beyond belief when I found out you were building something of your own - and maybe it's because I'm passionate about creating art myself, but from my perspective It just makes sense as the next step. The art and stories you're capable of creating, deserves a world of its own.
That’s a world I’d love to bring people closer to, with the kind of voice you instantly recognize. One that remembers usernames, follows up on feedback, and creates room for co-creation between developers and fans.
Since Envar’s new game is still under wraps, that means building up a community ground up. And just like building a game from an idea, there's infinite creative potential.
With consistency and devotion, something classic like - for example - a Dev Diary can become iconic, for one community and game in particular. Updates, social media content and streams can be so much more than just patch notes, memes and Q&A's. I'd love to turn them into something fun that feels personal, truly coming from the team at Envar. A serialized dev diary that’s more like a show than a blog, streams where the community create silly game-character tierlists together, or maybe a short-format series for social media where each dev gets a little introduction episode (complete with doodles, inside jokes, and mysterious lore crumbs in the margins).
In my experience, community culture can't be forced, and that's exactly what makes it great. It's something that builds itself while you set the tone. If you're good at seeing, listening, and if you can leave room for the unexpected while adapting to it, you get a lively, evolving and engaged community.
Not just a following - a culture. One that grows right alongside the world you’re building.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks so much for reading this chaotic little dev diary. It's a special one, as it's written just for you guys at Envar, and comes straight from the heart (or the kokoro as one might say, if they were secretly a Naruto fan, still).
Maybe this wasn’t the flashiest launch, but honestly, the best updates are the ones the devs don't let you see coming. This whole thing started as a quiet passion project and ended with showing up because it feels right.
I'm not the perfectly polished product. But if you're looking for someone who's all in - quirks, dedication, kokoro and all -
I really hope I get the chance to meet you, and maybe help build something wonderful together.
// Pany (Now available in v.2025 — patches incoming!)
