𝐈. In the beginning...

Vampires and werewolves have been enemies since the dawn of time. A cat and dog rivalry, constantly chasing, attacking, and killing one another. In the past however, they were able to disguise their factions and fights, preying on humans in the shadows. The only ones aware were each other, bickering about not being careful, or splitting the rations of blood.

𝐈𝐈. Covens formed, packs were joined, and throughout history, they prevailed. However, as times would change, so did technology, and their deceptive ways had begun to grow detected. Tensions rose as wolves blamed their bat enemies for not being cautious enough, and vampires blaming their wolven rivals for rampaging in their werewolf form in the night.. over time, they resolved this conflict with an shared idea, as hunters arose as a threat.

𝐈𝐈𝐈. The covens and packs migrated deep into the woods, where they’d be hidden from humankind. This seemed like a perfect resolve.. but problems are never truly over- as now, a new night stalking Shapeshifting beast has been thrown into the ring.. having been hidden in the woods for decades since.

i know i've mentioned this before but the number of hunters on kindred tumblr genuinely baffles me. like obviously they are spying on us to become more familiar with our habits and there are still fledgelings out here with their names and locations available??? also, just, the audacity. it doesn't matter how nice or catboy or otherwise woobified the hunters are, guys. they want to kill you. they want to kill your loved ones.

these hunters, especially these Second Inquisition hunters, see you as parasites. monsters. they want nothing more than to completely eradicate you and your loved ones. they want you to be extinct. they're being polite to you on the internet or making silly haha jokes with you because it makes you let your guard down. it lets you get closer to them.

kindred who JOIN the hunters are a whole other level. you realize that the SI is going to kill you next? you realize that your hunter buddies are going to kill you once they've killed everyone else? you realize that when they come for you, there's no kindred in the world who's going to step up to help you because you've killed their loved ones?

i'm not even angry i'm just disappointed.

i genuinely feel like some of the hunters on here don't get it. a couple of you genuinely seem like you've ingested so much of this SI brainrot that you think you're "one of the good ones." you think you're helping. but listen to me. LISTEN TO ME. the second inquisition doesn't care if you're "one of the good ones." they're not just getting rid of the "bad kindred who hurt people." they're not just going after the serial killers and the dormitors and the people who commit atrocities. they are going after *everyone.* they want every single kindred, YES even that nice one you know who only drinks from blood bags, to be SYSTEMATICALLY ERADICATED. christ. fuck.

Hey, @bennettarthur? Can you please wait a little bit before asking Magnus to go do something very early in the morning? He came back from helping you, with that thing you needed to do with your sire, absolutely exhausted. I had to carry him to bed, he was that tired. I understand if something important comes up, but I've been trying to help him fix his shitty sleeping schedule, and having to get up very early can be.. counterproductive. He is still available to do stuff during the day, but I would prefer if you waited a while before having him do stuff at night. I hope you understand and again, I understand if something important comes up where you need him.

Katarin comes from the 2005 film BloodRayne, which... quite frankly, I wouldn't recommend to anyone haha. It's pretty bad. I am fascinated by it, though, and I do like the idea of Rin's character. When interacting with her, there might be violence, blood, gore, and death. Except for violence, all of these things will be tagged as cw: [subject] when applicable.

Personality: Katarin is tenacious, steadfast, and occasionally arrogant. Her stubbornness and rigid opinions/beliefs are impressively difficult to break, often to the point of being infuriating. She'll make sure to plainly lay out what she thinks as well. Her trust isn't easily earned.

She's not afraid to do whatever it takes, no matter how extreme. She's worked hard to harden all her soft parts, which she perceives as weaknesses that could potentially build up to a greater failure. As a result, she can come across as ruthless, cutting down those in her way with minimal hesitation.

In the end, she's convinced that the choices she makes are the right ones, and that regardless of any death or hurting that occurs in the process, she will help achieve a better tomorrow in the end.

Katarin primarily grew up within the walls of the Brimstone Society's fortress. Brimstone is made up of vampire hunters. Not only do they travel out and kill bloodsuckers, but they also work to oppose a terrible vampire king called Kagan. From a very young age, Katarin was trained to do battle by her father. She was taught to never trust someone after they had turned, regardless of who they used to be. Her father was never a very parental man and that, combined with Katarin's headstrong nature, often caused them to butt heads. She frequently ended up turning to Brimstone's leader, a man named Vladimir, for emotional support growing up. When she was sixteen, her father was bitten. It is expected in Brimstone to kill a comrade quickly after this happens as a common courtesy, but Katarin did not have it in her to end him. As a result, he was exiled from the society. He retained much more of his humanity than most vampires, but a greater strain was placed on their already rocky relationship regardless. By the time she was twenty-three, she had become one of Vladimir's closest confidants and a member he often has accompany him out.

Some other stuff:

Katarin hails from 18th-century Romania... A version of it, anyway. I'm not opposed to time travel and things like that in threads, though.

In BloodRayne, she dies upon having her necķ snapped and blood drank by the lead character, Rayne. However, it follows a betrayal that I hate the buildup to, so I'll largely be ignoring it <3 But you might still hear Katarin complain about the dhampir.

While trained to handle a multitude of weapons, Katarin is most skilled with swords, followed closely by a bow and arrow.

She has not seen her father since his exile. However, the two of them do occasionally exchange letters. Being unable to kill him is what Katarin considers her greatest moment of weakness.

Her father is the only biological family she has ever known personally, but she does also consider Vladimir a parental figure of sorts.

Vladimir's other closest confidant, a man named Sebastian, is a bit of an older brother to Katarin.

She has a fleabitten grey horse named Bela.
