Question for any vampires, vampire hunters, or bored tumblr users:

My girlfriend and I saw a welcome mat that said "Welcome Fall" and I said 'they would die to vampires', under the rule that a welcome mat counts as permission. She countered that it said welcome fall not welcome all and that puns don't count. I say intention matters more then wording.

I haven’t read the books so forgive me for being out of the loop but the newest trailer. Who established these vampires rules? Was it Armand’s theatre cult? From what I gather the rules are discarded later for Armand’s benefit?

The rules were set up, or at the very least passed on by the Children of Satan, taught to Armand through Santino and Allessandra (ca. 500 years before that trial):

It's these rules (from "The Vampire Armand"):

One, that we were formed in Covens throughout the world, and each Coven would have its leader, and I was destined to be such a one, like unto the Superior of a convent, and that all matters of authority would be in my hands. I and I alone should determine when a new vampire should be made to join us; I and I alone would see to it that the transformation was made in the proper way.

Two, the Dark Gift, for that is what we called it,, must never be given to those who were not beautiful, for the enslaving of the beautiful with the Dark Blood was more pleasing to a Just God.

Three, that never should an ancient vampire make the new fledgling, for our powers increase with time and the power of the old ones is too great for the young. Witness the tragedy of myself, made by the last of the known Children of the Millennia, the great and terrible Marius. I had the strength of a demon in the body of a child.

I'm not sure what you mean by "discarded for Armand's benefit"?

Because Armand, as the coven leader, more or less lives by these rules long after his coven(s) is(are) gone (especially rule #4). He still "cleans up" vagabond and young vampires, wherever he lives later on, for example.

The rules were more or less discarded later on because Lestat refuses to follow them (and keeps refusing to follow them...). (There is a bit more to it, but simplified here, also Louis published his book in the books).

The trial is a farce though - them bringing up the rules is a fig leaf. Oh, the coven might think they're justified (re Claudia), and Armand does not try to stop them, but ultimately... ultimately the trial happens because Armand is tired of his theater/coven and wants Louis to himself.

And that, unfortunately, is the very bitter, very harrowing truth of it all, which will be a very harsh pill to swallow I bet (generally speaking, not aimed at you^^).

Writing durgestarion smut and thinking about all the Astarion smut I've read that just ignores all the vampire/undead stuff like I guess he's just a guy with trauma and dietary restrictions to a lot of people?

So here's my personal vampire rules:

He can't breathe, he can only pretend to breathe

No reflection (mirrors, glass, water, polished metal, etc)

No shadow (he has a shadow in-game but screw that, boring)

He can't/doesn't sweat

He is generally the same temperature as (or slightly warmer than) the air around him and only get uncomfortable from being too hot or cold in extreme temps that could damage him

Exposure to naturally running water (rivers, streams, but not faucets) burns like the sun (suppressed by tadpole)

Being in or trying to enter a residential home without permission burns like the sun; only people who have slept in the home have invitation privilege; he can be uninvited (suppressed by tadpole)

His digestive tract is used as overflow storage for blood when his bloodstream is full up, circulation is accomplished thru magical means, not muscle/heart action

Fangs are little sippy straws that feed right into his bloodstream

Vampire saliva has healing properties (suppressed by tadpole)

He can't get drunk off of alcohol, he just drinks it because he's a stubborn dumbass

Food/liquid that he imbibes that isn't blood magically evaporates on its way to his stomach

He can get drunk/high off of blood with bonus chemicals in it

He gets tired/sore because the tadpole suppresses his vampiric healing so his muscles wear out and need rest

He does not need to work out, his excellent muscle tone comes from the vampirism and is maintained by his vampiric healing (and the active lifestyle he lives while he's tadpoled)

He only has abs when he's starving because he's dehydrated

Personal NSFW vampire rules:

Cazador kept him just fed enough to 'appear' human, that includes being able to get hard, but! as long as he's got blood circulating, he can maintain an erection however long he wants

his ejaculate is unimpressive to non-existent, quantity-wise and it also tastes stale; he's shooting blanks

How do plus ones work for vampires?

okay if a vampire’s friend gets a plus one to a party, and the friend brings the vampire as the plus one, is that permission enough for them to come in? will that invitation work forever or just for the party? what if they asked then changed their mind and brought someone else? would the vampire still be able to enter the house on the initial prompt of becoming a plus one or just be sad?

So today I heard someone phrase the entry rule for vampires as "vampires cannot enter unless they've been previously invited", I found this to be extremely vague, and after reading most of the other threads about this sort of thing I am left with some questions:

1. If a vampire was invited to a house by a previous owner, can they still enter or do they require a new invite from the current owner?

2. If a house a vampire was invited to is demolished but the family who invited them builds a new house on the same spot, would they still be invited?

3. If a family does renovations that end up changing the house (whether by layout or just material) by more than 50%, would the vampire's invite still be valid? (This can also apply to add-ons, but only if the add-on increases the total size of the house by more than 50%)

4. If a separate dwelling is built on a property (like a treehouse or a small cottage) and the vampire was already invited to the main home, would they be welcome in the new living space?

5. Disingenuous invites, do they count? Do vampires (like the fey) work on the letter? Or on the spirit?

I promise that I am not a vampire, and that I am not asking this on behalf of a vampire

Stardew Valley Vampire Rules:

+ Cannot go out on a sunny day (not raining or snowing) without a wide brimmed hat (cowboy hats, sombrero, trash can lid, etc.).

+ cannot enter a residence (building with a bed) without being invited in. Invitations can be spoken or sent via mail, but must indicate that the player is encouraged or welcome to enter the house of the character talking. (This is easier than it sounds, Pierre, Robin, and Willy in it's the player to shop at their stores pretty quickly).

+ must erase a heart of friendship from an NPC one a week. Must build up a heart of friendship and then reduce it intentionally. This is the life force you require to survive. If you can't do this, you must end every day by passing out with 0 energy until you can.

+ Addendum, you cannot gain friendship at all with Evelyn and George. They are retired vampire hunters.

+ Alternatively, if reducing a heart is too difficult, player can track friendship points and reduce by 100 rather than a full heart (250).

+goals: put your ancestor's spirit to rest, drink the snake's blood (Mr qi, floor 100 of skull cavern), kill Mr. Qi (walnut room, buy mr. Qi's hat)

++ optional restrictions: no livestock other than void chickens; no fish other than void salmon, midnight carp, and ghostfish; can only eat red food

I mean, in case of scenario 2, I could see Irina being just a smidge pissed because her dinner is now out of reach, lol. But that's really the only reason she'd maybe lose it just a bit. But also-
