I had this book when I was a kid. I studied it to death.
Turns out it’s on the Internet Archive.

Today I somehow find out that there’s an entire NOVEL ( not a manga and DEFINITELY not a light novel) for the video game Lacrimosa of Dana without hearing about it first?? It’s by Anna Kashina and I so happen to come across it at the library?? Never expected that at ALL.

“How to Master The Video Games” and other books like it were heavily traded in my circle of friends when I was growing up. Outside of word of mouth and a few videos that would eventually get released, these were the sources for tip on how to play video games.

Book Review: Final Fantasy I * II * III Memory of Heroes by Takashi Umemura
May 9, 2024
Tumblr media
This is a novelization of the first 3 Final Fantasy games and is divided into 3 parts. Each story is basically identical to the game, with very minor differences. I admit, I’m actually upset that one character is left out of the FF2 story?? #LeilaDeservedBetter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I recommend playing the games first, as they do a good job at telling their stories and this book feels like an added bonus or extra treat. (Or in my case, a refresher!)
The overarching theme of all 3 stories is Light vs Dark and Chaos vs Order. It’s a very easy book to read, but I admit I struggled with the 3rd part because it had too much dialogue.
However, Final Fantasy III has the best story so I didn't hate it. I love the concept of light being impossible without the absence of darkness, and darkness is not possible without the absence of light. The story plays into that idea, making the Warriors of Light fight hand-in-hand with the Warriors of Darkness.
I really enjoyed reading this and would love to see more novelizations of the other Final Fantasy games. Their stories are very rich and detailed and would make for such fun reading!

I am a huge fan of FFVII so when I saw they had a book with two short stories based more on the Remake’s time line I HAD to pick it up!
I was mostly planning to just have fun with it but both the main stories were amazing and surprisingly emotional!
I really wasn’t expecting to have so much of Tifa’s story to be about digging her way out of medical debt.
Or for the surprisingly emotional story of Aerith and her adoptive mom struggling to bond through their individual grief.
If you’re a FFVII fan I highly recommend it!

hey guys, maybe before you pirate LEARN SOME ETIQUETTE
why are these important? well, if you openly share the sites, they wil get shut down. corporations are willing to copyright strike anything. you are only going to make accessing these resources harder.
remember: LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS
if you want to share resources, don't post them on public forums like tumblr, twitter, instagram or any popular site. remember how zlibrary shut down? yall want that to happen to more sites? do you?
also like if they get shut down, people who can't access these otherwise because they don't have the means for it or its banned in their country are losing access.
Don't post links online. Only share in private conversations.
try and avoid linking the sites directly. a workaround is sharing the downloaded files via other file hosting sites similar to google drive and drop box
DON'T SHARE ON PUBLIC FORUMS. EVER. PLEASE
Use a VPN. i personally like proton vpn, it is a freemium model but the free version works fine.
These are just the basics, there are others but please keep these in mind.

Videogames I wish were real #97
A roguelike game that takes place in the world's biggest library, which has been overrun by monsters, where you play as a librarian determined to save it. You venture inside the library armed with your weapon of choice and two messenger bags you plan to fill with whatever books you can rescue.
After you clear the monsters in a particular section of the library, such as the Poetry section, you'll unlock a permanent buff that will last for the remaining of that run. For example: clearing the Travel section will help you map areas faster, and also unlock the bookworm railway system that will allow you to move more easily between certain parts of the library.
Besides section buffs, you'll also be able to learn all kinds of useful attacks and skills by finding specific books in the shelves, reading them and carrying them in your messenger bags. The more books you carry, the stronger your character will be, and the abilities each book will grant you will be on theme with the book, it's literary genre or one of its tropes: carrying with you a bestiary will allow you to quickly identify the weak points of monsters you've met before, a book with an enemies to lovers trope will allow you to turn a monster into a temporary ally that will fight alongside you, a botany book in your bag will let you gather medicinal herbs growing in the library, and carrying a potions book will allow you to prepare healing potions (more effective than just herbs), etc.
Not everyone believes the library can be saved, which is why during your expeditions your mission is not only to kill monsters, but also to rescue books and bring them to the new library. Since getting books out is one of your main priorities, starting your runs with your satchels nearly full of books that grant you useful abilities won't be very efficient, so you'll need to decide how many books you want to bring back with you to the library during each run.
Fighting monsters is dangerous, and sometimes you get hurt, but also, sometimes books get hurt, which why after some runs you might need to stop by your workshop to repair any damaged books. The hides of certain monsters are very sturdy, so using them to rebind books will make them more durable.
There is no respawning in this game. If your librarian dies inside the library, the next librarian that ventures inside might eventually find their body. If you're close to death and you have a particular book from the Travel section in your bags, you'll be able to use it to summon a bookwork that will take you quickly and safely back to the entrance with whatever books are currently in your bag.
You love your library, and you are determined to save it, armed with the greatest weapon in the world: knowledge (and a sword), even if it's one book at a time.

i'm gonna go one step further and say it's actively good to engage with media you have fundamental ideological disagreements with, especially when you use that as a testing ground to conceptualize your own worldview and help you crystalize your perspective on things

I feel like comic writers and some fans have forgotten that Young Justice is mostly about the girls. The main storylines were about Secret/Greta, Cissie, and Anita. The boys were there but they had their own runs. Take Young Justice Dark Crisis, yeah it's all about the boys IF you only read the first 5 ish comics. After that it's either big comic events or about the girls. Really the girls are the main characters of Young Justice, the boys are there to draw people in.
