The Doctrine of Perseverance is an indie horror and mystery game currently in development. It is being developed in RPG Maker MV and includes visual novel elements. A freeware demo was released in 2016. At the time of initial demo release, I was a senior in high school. Since then, I have spent many years developing my art and have returned to my first project. The game is still early in development, so everything is still subject to change, but I still hope you find interest in my project! I'd like to showcase some updated portraits from the 2016 version.
Melrose, the main character. The story begins on her thirteenth birthday (this portrait not yet shown), where a traumatic house fire takes place. Three years later, on Melrose's sixteenth birthday, the events of the past manifest themselves once again, showing that what happened on that day is far from over.
Suzetta, a childhood friend of Melrose. A stark contrast to Melrose, she is upbeat, mischievous, and more often than not, the most mature in their friend group. Her father is a close friend of Melrose's mom, Florence.
Silas is a friend of both Melrose and Suzetta and also Suzetta's neighbor. His family harbors distrust toward Melrose's family and the renowned 'founding families' in the city of Noxton.
For those interested in the previous rendition of the game, @flareblitzedyt has a great playthrough and playlist featuring it on Youtube. Although, I must advice that many story elements have changed since then.
The previous demo was taken down a couple of years ago, but the game page for it is still up. I intend to update it in the future. Thank you for reading, stayed tuned for additional information and screenshots!
I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE DATING SIM DON’T WORRY
I’ll admit, I put this game on hold because I have been really busy with my other game. However! After the S4 drop, it lighten the fire back! And over the course of my week vacation, the script for the demo has been completed!! Just had to do some editing and get some artwork done for the demo! Luckily, I am not working alone this time! Here are some monkey sprites!
I want to thank @sunwukongssuccessor for helping me with the writing! Please go support them as their fics are part of the reason I decided to start this project! I also wanna thank @looneylamb for joining the project and creating concept art for the game. Thank you all for being patient! Monkeying Around is back in progress!
not to overstate things but truly my vilain origin story is the number of people who seem to think that 'what are useful ways to interact with visual art' is not a complex conversation that's lasted for centuries
I'm Silk and this will be the official dev log for all projects currently under development by me. I am a single dev team with hopes to grow but for now I am the sole artist, writer and coder. I have a full time job and am new to writing so I'm slow going but I like doing it.
I'm developing a few visual novel games that are in various stages of pre-dev that I will be sharing on here and post updates on as they go.
I'm also here because my previous devlog was on Twitter and we all know where that's going.
Here's a few of my games currently in development!
Chimera is planned to be a bigger project broken up into different games. For now it is a point and click visual novel adventure.
The story follows a private detective, on a mission to solve a murder taken place in his home town. The mission thrusts you into the range of the local mysteries and dangers. While undercover as a housekeeper at a luxury hotel, you will have to navigate the other workers, the pompous guests, and this guy who's trying to break in that claims he's a Vampire.
Once, in a Dream is planned to be a free to play game I devised while I practiced coding an in depth routes system in Ren'Py.
You play as the Ole Lukøje, aka the Sandman, whose purpose in life is to grant the children dreams while they sleep. Though you travel to many worlds, you can only exist in one of the mind. On your journey you meet 3 peculiar little girls; two who are trapped in an endless slumber and can forever dream, and another who dreams of never growing up, and somehow gets her wish...without you.
This last one is only one concept art deep but I like it enough to make real. Furry dating sim where you're the child of a newly elected politician and are thusly now involved in the intergalactic politics of everyone else. Will you keep the peace or pursue your own interests?
Working title is Star Furs, aka all the star fox fan fiction i never wrote down.
I'll be posting more about each project as it goes but if you like any of these, I hope you'll enjoy following my development of them. Feel free to ask me questions.
OST is Reeaeaallyyy Relaxing, i think i did a good job on it, its a pretty good ambient thing!
Im fixing many plotholes, as before i just had a pretty simple idea of the plot, not really that finished yet, however im working on alredy programming and writing the most defined parts of the game!
I got some of the programming issues solved! horray!
I hope you enjoy the game once it comes out! :D
I have no idea what I did 'right' this time but NOW I can make sprites fade into one another rather than abruptly snapping from one sprite to another.
(when I attempted this before when working on PRISM, the sprite would vanish for a moment before being replaced, very distracting and I Did Not Like It)
We're so excited to talk about the game post-release's plans, and where you can go from here to truly enjoy the full Spooktober Visual Novel Jam experience — check out the post up ↑ here!
sorry for taking so long im a dummy and cant keep track of time ...
i cant do words good as you can see... icant do well thought out stuff because it would take me a million years .... which makes me me sad but oh well what can you do... (┬┬﹏┬┬)
I was stuck trying to make a password lock without a tutorial. I was ready to quit until I gave Claude 3.5 a shot. The free version actually gave me code that worked for a text button lock! I tweaked it with Claude and ended up with this password lock. It's still super early in development, and I haven't even started on the story.
The entire demo has been written and all cgs have been finalized. Base sprites are done but they need a little more tweaking. Some shifts in the art style have changed but it's not too crazy
