As a total non-techie, can we take a moment to appreciate how much actual work and knowledge goes into building pirate sites in the first place? Like no matter whether you think that iteration of āstealingā is moral- not what this post is about- I MYSELF CERTAINLY donāt know how to format and host all that stuff. Nor do I know how to get the smutty advertisements to bring in a trickle of income at a time for all that site-building work.ļæ¼
A person who shoplifts (and again not getting into the morality of that, crisis of cost of living, etc) just shows up and palms stuff surreptitiously.
A pirater has to teach themselves and do a lot of stuff!!

Hey neocities community! I'm a freelance illustrator and game artist dipping my toes into web design for the first time. My ambition is to create a portfolio site with a point-and-click game vibe, using the most simple code I can put together. I would love to create a unique space that feels interactive and endlessly exploreable. The site will feature my various art projects, and there are already some (small) playable games up for download. I'm aiming to add more animated elements later down the line, but I'm currently learning the ropes of html and the site is still very bare bones. For now, please enjoy the fun visuals of my cave as I continue digging the tunnels deeper and deeper..
These are some of my current goals i'm seeking more resources/tutorials for: -Find a suitable way to add buttons and text on an image -Play animations when hovering and on button press -Layering images -Create a photo gallery with filters/tags in the style of the site -Make the site more accessible and scale everything consistently -Build a simple dressup game using drag and drop pngs -Find a new guestbook host, as 123guestbook.com is going away

hey does anyone know good websites to showcase portfolios?
i have a weebly website but its honestly a little annoying to work with; i want to have a site where i can just drag and drop stuff.
in theory i could move my portfolio fully to carrd, but that's not the most ideal

After doing some work and editing, I've updated my website! For those unaware, my website acts as both a method of finding me on other platforms AND to find information about my commissions. I've now included a new tab to show adoptables I've made and their availability <3
On the Work List page, you can also see the Comm Queue, available slots for both regular comms and stream comms, and the last time it was updated! The link to my site is in my pinned so it's easier to find without having to dig for it.
I may edit the Adopts tab some more tho š¤ I'm not 100% set on how it's laid out at the moment but it's at least functional. I did try putting the adopts like a gallery, however, that did Not look good so I'll have to tweak some more if I want the gallery option. It's currently in this 3 column setup instead with different sections for āØorganizationāØ
#JP shares stuff#website building#I also tried to make the colors/text less of an eyestrain#It may be simple looking overall but it works lol#jplupine art

Portfolio Website
Jess, our Illustration blogger, writes about the importance of portfolios for artists. Similar to a resume, portfolios help artists display their work for people to see. Read Jessā blog to see her struggles and likings while creating a digital portfolio!
We all know the importance of a resume, the sheet where we show the best of us, hoping to impress the person reading it. Well, for us artists, a resume is not the only way our employer/clients get to know us. Arguably, a portfolio is even more of a reflection of an artist. Therefore, recently, I have been looking around for websites that could help me build my website for free. Artist: Jakeā¦

A 'Fun' section has recently been added to the Info Geek (IG) website (https://www.ig.fyi/fun.html). For the moment, it includes the 'Daily Horoscope' and three mini games (Sukodu, Tetris and Connect the Bubbles). More fun is on the way. And don't forget to buy some IG coins on pump.fun or four.meme or one of our NFTs on opensea.io. Have fun! Ā

10 Site Speed Mistakes That Might Be Killing Your Sales

Your website is often the first interaction customers have with your brand. A slow-loading site can cost you not only in sales but also in customer trust and retention. If your site speed isnāt up to par, even the best website builder or most innovative ecommerce website creator canāt save you. Below, weāll cover 10 common site speed mistakes you might be makingāand how to fix them to improve conversions and sales.
1. Overloading Your Website with Large Images
Large, unoptimized images are a major culprit in slowing down websites. While high-quality visuals are essential for an attractive design, they need to be compressed and optimized. Tools like TinyPNG or ImageOptim can help you balance quality and speed. Pro Tip: Many website building online tools include built-in image optimization features.
2. Ignoring Browser Caching
Browser caching allows returning visitors to load your site faster by storing files locally. Not enabling caching can slow down your website significantly. Make sure to set up proper caching rules, especially if youāre building an ecommerce website.
3. Not Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
A CDN stores copies of your site on multiple servers worldwide, making it faster for users in different locations to access your content. If you're running an online reselling business, leveraging a CDN can ensure your website performs seamlessly across regions.
4. Choosing the Wrong Website Builder or Hosting Plan
The platform you choose to build your website plays a crucial role in its speed. Some website building sites or hosting plans arenāt optimized for performance. If youāre on a budget, consider the best free website builder options that still offer decent performance.
5. Using Excessive Plugins
Plugins are a quick fix for functionality, but too many can slow down your site. Audit your plugins regularly and deactivate the ones you no longer need. If youāre a reseller business owner, ensure your essential plugins donāt compromise speed.
6. Skipping Mobile Optimization
With mobile traffic on the rise, a poorly optimized mobile site can alienate a significant portion of your audience. When calculating website creation costs, donāt overlook responsive website design features. Mobile optimization is non-negotiable.
7. Neglecting to Minify Code
Your websiteās code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) might contain unnecessary characters and spaces that increase load times. Minifying this code can significantly improve speed. Use tools like UglifyJS or CSSNano for this purpose.
8. Not Monitoring Server Performance
Slow server response times are another common speed issue. This is particularly important if you're building an eCommerce website, where downtime can directly impact sales. Investing in a reliable hosting provider can make all the difference.
9. Forgetting About the Importance of Business Planning in Site Design
Your website should align with your business goals. A poorly planned website structure can slow down navigation, impacting user experience. Whether youāre focusing on reseller business ideas or trying to scale an online reselling business, plan for speed and functionality from the start.
10. Ignoring Regular Speed Audits
Site speed isnāt a one-and-done task. Regular audits using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix are essential. Consistent monitoring ensures your site performs well even as you add new products or features.
Why Site Speed Matters More Than Ever
Slow sites can result in higher bounce rates, lower search engine rankings, and lost sales. As you build or revamp your site, consider not just the website creation cost but also the tools and strategies that ensure optimal speed. A seamless experience will not only boost conversions but also strengthen your brandās reputation.
In the fast-paced digital landscape, even small delays can have significant consequences. Take the time to address these site speed mistakes and watch as your sales and customer satisfaction soar.
