letting celebrities think they can and should "use their platform" to speak on all current events and political issues regardless of how educated they are on them was a grave mistake

Angela Orosco Silent Hill 2
#in anticipation of the incoming remake#i tried my best to imitate the SH font but#silent hill#silent hill 2#angela#angela orosco#theme of laura (reprise)#i've said it before but in spite of its occasionally clunky diction i think silent hill 2 is an unusually emotionally intelligent game#for any year and still today but especially so for where gaming storytelling was in 2001#and for as many pitfalls a story like hers could've dipped into i think it particularly shines through with how they treated angela#not just choosing to depict victimhood as something that can be ugly and fractious and open quote “difficult” but then this#actively rebuffing james for trying to offer hope and dressing him down for it too#“i know you mean well and want to help but this isn't a simple problem"#“and it's really hurtful and a bit insulting that you act like you can”#the switching to a first person view turning it into an address to the player as well#maybe even old videogame tropes too#“this isn't some princess in a castle kind of situation dude this is more serious than that”#it felt like a very deliberate statement about the depth and severity of a trauma like this#and in doing so showing it so much respect#there is no quick easy solution to this and you won't get one#then angela just leaves#and you never see her again#i really don't think it was to imply that it consumed her i think it was to underline what was just said#this isn't your problem to fix#this is where your part in this story ends#there's some strength in that

one thing i do enjoy is using the ending-comma to indicate a joke. it's a tone indicator of it's own! punctuation already serves this purpose, but most frequently, it's in quotations or exclamations or question marks, yeah? and you can use the period for pacing, but you can also use it for hostility. but the beloved comma, who notes the thing unsaid, or when something has gone wrong,

The most important part of the Altissia chapter is when they're being questioned by customs and Ignis looks at their party of:
1) Him 2) A college age punk 3) A man wider and taller than a fridge wearing no shirt and with several enormous scars 4) The actual crown prince of a neighboring country, making no effort to disguise himself
and decides their best cover story is
"✨We are students of the culinary arts.✨"
And it works.

really need jean to have a flirty moment with a random girl on campus and for jeremy to be standing right there. and when she leaves he'll turn to jean and say (with the fakest smile known to man) "she's pretty". jean will stare after her for a long second then he'll turn to look at jeremy. and he'll stare for a loooong minute. at jeremy's eyes. at his freckles scattered all over his cheeks and nose. he'll look at his still too false smile and then he'll lift his hand and poke his finger into one of jeremy's dimples. jeremy's smile will falter. he'll swallow, so obviously nervous now at the feel of jean's finger on his skin. and only when jeremy's eyes and expression finally reflect how he actually feels in that moment. only then, will jean move his finger and say "i've seen prettier" before walking off

bsd fans looooove their ADA-PM truces, but I have one note:
A truce is an accord not to attack each other even though you want to. If they're (regularly) working together on the same things and/or sharing information in a mutually beneficial exchange, the word you're looking for is alliance.

i don't like when people reduce glinda's decision to stay behind into one simple thing, when there are so many moving parts that contribute to why she didn't go with elphaba
on one hand, she's scared and she hasn't reached the part of her character developement where she's ready to stand up to authority like that. part of her recognizes that staying with the wizard will be personally beneficial, and she's willing to make moral compromises for her own gain
but she's not being entirely selfish, either. she's actually primarily concerned about elphie. glinda recognizes the dangers of rebelling against the wizard like that, and doesn't want elphaba to get hurt. glinda genuinely believes that if elphie stays behind, puts her head down, and plays the game, she'll be able to further her cause more than outright rebellion
part of this belief probably comes from the fact that staying with the wizard is the easier thing to do, but glinda's also still naive about how the system works. she's only ever benefitted from the status quo, so she believes that change can still occur within the system. even while they're literally being chased by the gale force, glinda is like "if you say you're sorry, we can fix this"
and i think her role as glinda the good is complicated, too. like, on one hand, glinda knows the truth about the wizard, so she kind of has to play this role for her own safety. but it's clear she also enjoys the attention and praise she gets by being "glinda the good," which is why she doesn't go find elphaba like fiyero suggests
but i also think glinda believes that she's doing good as "glinda the good." like, she's making people happy and bringing them much needed joy in uncertain times. she's trying to promote kindness and charity. obviously, this ignores the fact that she's complicit in the wizard's rule, but her character development in act ii is her deciding to be truly good and stand up to that system
glinda genuinely wants to be a good person and do good, and her character arc is her learning how to do that
idk this is probably just rambling but i get bothered when ppl reduce glinda's decision to her being selfish or not loving elphie enough. she's way more complicated than that and i think that's what makes her so interesting

no one's gonna stop you from making wade a twink but just know that it has never been canon ever, and also maybe think about why you want him to be a twink so bad. is it just because he acts more effeminate and so you think he should have the stereotypical body to match? are there implicit biases and assumptions forced on your labelling of people as twinks? is it just because you want him to be more personally appealing to you? <3

The thing I never got about the fan reaction to Mel and Jayce's relationship (in general) is that people were incensed on Jayce's behalf that Mel used him for political gain, but like... that's what happens when the government sponsors your research. Obviously the funding mechanisms aren't the same because Piltover is an oligarchy where civic functions such as the Enforcers and even Zaun's ventilation system are privately funded instead of through a common pool of taxpayer money, but the purpose is the same, which is to benefit from the conclusions drawn from the results of the research.
I don't understand how anyone in the audience could be shocked or angry that when Mel, a high ranking representative of Piltover’s government, chose to invest in hextech it wasn't clear that she and Piltover would benefit. And it's not like this foreign concept to Jayce, he was originally being SPONSORED by the Kirammans', which is almost the same relationship except it's more explicitly private to the Kirammans' benefit, but I didn't see any pitchforks out for Tobias and Cassandra.
It's just such a double whammy headache to end up reading posts where Mel is hypervillainized while Jayce is practically infantilized because as an adult man in his 30s he simply can't understand complex relationships or make his own decisions. The way some fans have been offended on Jayce's behalf straight up erases any agency or even intelligence he has.

Jerk Ford AU: Stanley Design
Tumblr media
[Art by @tearosepedall]
"Please, you can just call me Stan. Dr.Pines is my brother."
A lot of stuff about Stan is mainly determined by the artist because I don't know anything about the education system, and Stan is a teacher.
Quick facts:
He has a PhD in Chemistry, and a Masters Degree in Education.
Chemistry was the only scientific discipline Stan and Jerk Ford had in common. But Stan's specialty is Analytical Chemistry, while Jerk Ford's specialty was in Biological Chemistry.
His adopted son Soos is a former student, and currently the drama instructor (Stan sometimes works with the theatre department)
Wendy is also former student and his current Teachers Assistant (TA).
He was Gideons teacher the latest school year.
Anyone who grew up in Gravity Falls in the past three and a half decades has had Stan as their teacher at least once
Design Notes:
He's taller than canon Stan and has proper, straight-backed posture. He doesn't slouch.
His hair is long enough he can pull it into a ponytail or a braid. He leans more towards the latter during the summer with the twins because of Mabels love for braid-trains.
During the school year, if he's working at the elementary school instead of the middle or high school, he'll wear different hair clips/pins to amuse the students. During the summer with the twins, Mabel makes little hair clips for him that match the design of her sweater for the day so they can match with each other.
His zodiac symbol is on a hidden necklace.
Stan in the image is using a marker board tap method to get students to quiet down or pay attention to the board.
Sea Grunk Era outfit TBD.
