lmao ok this might be ambitious but the idea of the unpolycule meeting in a scifi setting has gripped my brain for the au prompts
Minthe tilted her head. "Ariadne? Isn't she in charge of the phyto-remediation project?"
"Exactly," Hades said. "According to Hythlodaeus, she's hit a bit of a snag with the actual metabolizing of the Umbral aether into a more active form. Because of your focus on biochemistry, we figured it was the best fit."
"You sound very well informed on that." Minthe's eyebrow raised.
"Part of my job as Chief Magicks Officer," he said smugly.
She rolled her eyes and took the docket. "I'll go see what I can do." If Hades only knew that she turned down the promotion on purpose he would have a lot less to be smug about...
Minthe skimmed through the docket as she waited for the turbolift from med-bay to hydroponics. She turned her head and gave a whisper of a smile to her crew-mate who stood next to her. He gave off waves of shyness, tallness, and orangeness.
"Ahh, where's your stop?" he asked in a quiet voice.
"Hydroponics," she answered politely before reviewing her docket.
"Th-the same, actually."
Am I missing something or am I truly intimidating? Minthe looked up from her docket again and got a more focused look on her crew-mate. He was wearing and engineer's uniform and the markings around his eyes were oddly familiar...
She sighed. "I am truly awful with names, but aren't you Daedalus?"
He nodded. "Yes. For my name. I don't know how awful you are because you managed to get mine..."
"Well, part of that is that you're the engineer on my docket."
"So you are taking the project?" Daedalus brightened at that.
Minthe nodded. "Emmoroloth has enough staff I can work part-time in med-bay. This should keep me busy for my other hours on duty."
"It is nice to be able to do something other than keeping the ship running. Well, the Aether conversion is going to help keep the ship running, but it's different than what I usually do..."
The two of them chatted as they rode the lift down to hydroponics. Minthe was pleasantly surprised that the conversation was keeping her attention. Even though she had signed up to be on the USS Etheirys for her work rotations, she didn't expect to be making new friend so quickly.
After dodging an ever-shifting Mori, the two of them made it to the hydroponics bay. Inside the bay were plants and mushrooms galore, all growing under lights or behind darkened glass. A woman with blue hair and a hooked nose was tending to something, and Minthe figured she was the right person.
"Ariadne?" Minthe asked, wishing she had taken the time to recall more of her crew mates' faces.
"Yes? Did I miss my med-bay appointment?" The woman asked. Then she turned and smiled at Daedalus. "Oh, hey! Long-time no see! You're on the project, right?"
Daedalus nodded. "Oh, of course I am. When I saw your name on the docket I instantly signed up. Minthe is actually on the project too!"
"Really?" Ariadne's eyes grew wide. "I had requested your help but I didn't think..."
Minthe tilted her head. "That's not how Hades made it sound... at any rate, since we're all here..."
Thanks for the prompt!

mayhaps this is a hot take but I truly dislike “Loid gets murderous and overprotective of Anya dating Damian” content
like. there are sm reasons I dislike it
first off, just fundamentally, I hate that trope. I think parents being protective of children in general is cute, and even maybe protective against their partners to an extent, but it rlly feeds into the Western (esp American) notion of parents owning their children. it gets even grosser when it’s the dad and his daughter, it’s just a branch of ‘women and their purity having to be guarded until they’re properly married’ sexism
secondly, if this is pre-reveal (either Damian comes over/talks to Anya in front of Loid and it’s p obvious he has a crush, so Loid, of course, course notices, OR somehow, post-canon yet not revealed, they get together), Loid would absolutely use that to advance Operation Strix lol
obviously Loid is NOT a bad or uncaring father, he is absolutely not that, BUT he does also very vehemently care about achieving world peace thru his spy work, AND ANYA UNDERSTANDS AND EVEN AGREES WITH THIS (to the highest extent she can as a child, at least). he would never partake in extensive manipulation that’d harm Anya emotionally (or even Damian tbh, his whole goal is to create a world where no children have to cry) but he would DEFINITELY encourage their relationship in order to eventually, somehow get to Desmond the ghoul-eyed freak
thirdly, even if this is POST-reveal, I still don’t think Loid would be unreasonable. sure, he may apprehensive due to Damian’s family and more concrete examples of Anya growing up (MAYBE bc honestly I think Loid would be ecstatic with every milestone in Anya’s life considering how genuinely supportive and proud of her that he is) BUT. but
he, again, not only wants to create a world where no children have to cry, so he clearly values the youth and their quality of life, but ALSO KNOWS abt how shitty Damian’s father is. personally, I think he’d be GLAD that Damian has a safe place to come to, with ppl who’ll support him (unconsciously, bc Loid is very oblivious to his own emotions lmao)
anyways, tldr; the “Loid being super hostile to Damian dating Anya” trope is tired and sucks and we should move onto appreciating a trope that honours the CORE of sxf, more found family, where Damian joins the Forgers, even before he and Anya potentially marry (even before they date if possible tbh)

so last night I post my silly mermaid fic chapter lalala and in that chapter I write a character who is a little ambiguous as far as like. being a hermitcraft guy is. which is typical of me! I do this all the time and I love it shoutout to the ooc writers because I love YOU. anyway.
this character was not named. they were described in great detail, but not named. I thought it would be funny if I had people guess! I mean I’ve been on a cubfan rampage lately so it’s a little bit obvious but I thought it would be fun. I was wrong. or was I?
iskall.
@canvas-the-florist YOU. you actually weren’t the only person say say iskall but you were RIGHT you were right you felt it in your bones and you were CORRECT. I’m looking at this and I’m thinking and I like oh god??? that kind of is iskall??? Like not entirely, because it’s also cub, that’s at least Half cub but it’s also iskall????? crisis. BUT THEN.
I have a solution. A grand solution. I have never made a fan kid in my life nor have I ever had the desire to do so but when I tell you this is canon I am 100% serious. ‘Atlas’ is the adored spawn of cubfan135 and iskall85 they fell in love and had a kid and it was awesome and like this is still cub like his eventual human name is going to be cub however I find this incredibly funny. goodtimeswithscar looks this guy in the eyes and says you are not Cub and Cub goes oh no, that was my father! actually that’s epic cheers.
now.
mermaids are hermaphrodites, they’ve got both parts, and gender doesn’t exist. it doesn’t matter. it is not difficult to put this child into existence. however. last night. wide-a-fucking-wake. I have a question. I have a question and I can not answer it.
..who carried the child…
I can not stress enough how much this does not fucking matter it DOESNT MATTER but it matters to me for some reason I have to Know *gender is not an obstacle it does not exist* WHO IS CARRYING THAT KID???????? who out of the two of them is it more in character. I don’t know.
help me
also if you want to read the fic or just the section I’m talking about you can do that here and scroll about halfway through the chapter below the ***

Signs of Michael and Joey’s romantic relationship in M2D:
(In no particular order.)
* They live together and co-parent a child.
* Actually say aloud they want more kids. Together.
* Fostered a second child, for a brief period of time. Likely would have adopted him if the law permitted it. (Ooh, now I’m sad.)
* They call each other “babe.” Constantly.
* Michael’s whole speech to his mother defending his relationship with Joey as parents. Even bringing up that she’d be happier if he was married to a woman. It was treated deadly serious. No laugh track.
* Joey calls Michael’s mom his “mother-in-law.” And she calls him her “son-in-law.” Again, no laugh track for these comments.
* Mrs. Taylor being the almost stereotypical neurotic mother of a gay man. Think Mrs. Bates. (Sorry, Michael.)
* Joey’s father struggling to understand his son’s choices in life mirroring conversations parents have with their queer offspring.
* Nicole walking in on them “pillow fighting” in the “Joey’s MIL” episode. Joey was trying to suffocate Michael in anger, but the implication that they were having “adult time” was still obvious.
* Michael dressing up in drag as Joey’s pregnant wife (Felicia) with whom he has 10 children.
* They frequently touch each other. Clothes adjustments, face grabbing, friendly punches, pats on the back, etc.
* Constant winking comments like “does this mean we’re dating again?” “whatever happened to ‘honey, I’m home’?” and “how come you never send me roses?”
* Alludes to their separation as a “divorce” in “Pop, The Question.” Played almost completely straight.
* They go to a marriage counselor in the same episode.
* “We’re nothing like a married couple!”
“How would you describe your relationship?”
“We live together, we raise a kid, we fight like hell. So, what, every Thursday?”
* Are somewhat hesitant in their responses to the “are you gay?” question she poses. (Michael STILL calls Joey “babe” in their answers.)
* Them getting drunk in episode one and waking up in the same bed. Clothes on, granted, but still.
* Michael’s definition of a friend: “Friend- Someone I have seen naked!”
* “And you are?”
“Joey Harris. The other father.”
“Ah. Divorced?”
“No, we’re living together.”
* Are VERY easily guilt-tripped by Nicole into living together as a family instead of being separated co-parents.
* They have the gayest “straight” friends I’ve ever seen.
* Clearly the commentary in “The Family in Question” mirrors comments made about real-life same-sex parents. Mainly that the media is questioning two men’s ability to properly parent a child.
