I've been ranking magical schools to see which is the best school.
Criteria for the ranking:
Do the teachers care about the students?
Are there any evil teachers (if yes, immediate loss of points)?
Are the students prepared for the world that they live in? Do they have experience before they get on adventures, do the classes teach them how to be heroes, or is there a solid job market and the school teaches them how to succeed and follow the rules of the world
Is the school safe? Are there precautions in place to protect the students?
How many students die each year?
What I don't look at:
Diversity of the school. The school can teach a certain type of magic and only allow in certain people and not lose points.
Meddling students. If the students go off on their own and meddle, and then they get hurt, the school does not lose points for that.
Does not looking at the moral quality of what they are learning, if they are taught how to survive in the world, even if the school is a morally corrupt world the school will be ranking high for what it is expected to do within the society.
My Ranking:
The Magic School Bus
Scholomance
Assassination Classroom
Royal Prep Academy from Sofia the First
My Hero Academia
Hexside: The Owl House
Augfort Adventuring Academy
Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters X-Man School
Jean Gray Institute for Higher Learning
Ninth House
Winx School
Shiz University from Wicked
Unicorn Academy
Wiztech from wizards of Waverly Place
The School for Good and Evil
Every Heart a Doorway
Hogwarts
Gowpenny Academy of Arcane Arts
Forth Wing War College
Camp Half Blood
JJK
Massachusetts Bay Academy from X-Men

so. totally unrelated fandom post.
i've only seen the first episode of the wizards of waverly place sequel (wizards beyond waverly place) but i have thoughts. the basic premise of the show is that justin russo has settled down with a non-wizarding wife (giada), has two kids, and has become an ordinary middle school teacher after being fired from wiztech. his life is upturned when his sister, alex, drops round with a delinquent young girl named billy who needs help learning magic—and, oh yeah, she's supposedly part of some big prophecy to save the world.
so far, all i've seen is criticism of the characters and the show in general, but i think a lot of it is unfair. i'll concede that replicating the character dynamics from the original show (with giada as theresa, justin as jerry, billy as alex, roman as justin, milo as max, etc) was a bad move, but justin's character in particular has received a lot of flack that i, personally, find unreasonable.
people say that justin wouldn't dare give up being a wizard; that the trajectory of his life makes no sense given his love of magic. but life doesn't always work out the way we imagine, even with meticulous planning and preparedness. we can't forget that justin's own father was very much the same; that jerry was a very skilled wizard who loved magic and could never imagine giving it up. given that, i think it makes sense for justin's character to settle down with a non-magical wife and become a school principal. he held on to magic the longest of the three siblings because he defined himself by his skill with it, but he learned, as he aged, that magic wasn't everything.
besides, seeing justin lose his magical lifestyle as his ages only to reclaim it again at the start of this series is a great, if obvious, analogy for what happens to most of us as we age. even those who hold on tightest to their younger years can find themselves losing the the magic felt in childhood; we have to reach out and take it back for ourselves. children are sometimes the best ones at showing us what we have lost, hence: justin teaches magical children and in doing so rediscovers his own magic.
(side note: being a middle school principal suits him for obvious reasons: his love of learning, love of rules, love of wonder. the whole "being fired from wiztech because of an incident with a unicorn" also makes sense to me because, as much as alex learned from him, he learned from alex, too.)
i have nothing to say about alex's character because selena gomez came back and fucking crushed it. the biggest problem is the delivery of the prophecy: she just drops it like "hey billy's the only one who can save the world" and then leaves. now, do i think this is bad writing? yes. but i also think it would make sense if this was utter bullshit; if alex only said this to justin to ensure he really, truly enveloped himself back into the magical world because she knows just how much he misses it. (it's just a prank, bro!)
what would i have changed? i'd probably have made it so that alex had a kid like justin, and justin had a kid like alex. i would not give justin two boys as i don't think that does anything for his character. i would include both jerry and harper, as their actors have a goddamn podcast about the show and deserve to be included. (not to mention how jerry's character, in mirroring justin's, could be very informative for the whole plot.) also, justin's wife? she's fine, but please at least address what happened to juliet. was it the whole "i'm a vampire and i don't grow old but you do" thing? because that only adds to the reasoning behind justin giving up his magical lifestyle.
(also, and this is a tiny thing, but people are wondering how justin the principal and his investigative reporter wife can afford their house? and, HELLO, we get told that max is now a billionaire—thanks to his sandwich enterprise, i think. he would've totally bought them a house after giada convinced justin to accept it.)
#idk if i've articulated myself well here#anyway.#the biggest difference is that justin's wife never knew about magic#idk what i think about that yet#justin russo#wizards beyond waverly place#wizards of waverly place#(i can't believe i wrote this many words on wowp. geez)

Huh?! I looked up "wizards beyond Waverly place" and you're telling me that basically nothing from the end of the original is the same?! We skip forward in time and Justin gave up being the wiztech professor to marry some mortal girl?! What happened to juliet?! Why did he stop being a wizard?! Bro gets given the opportunity to be a wizard anyways despite forfeiting the competition and he gives it up in a few years to be with some girl we never even saw?! It was his dream to be a wizard! I'm not watching that junk. It doesn't exist in my headcanon. If I got given a second chance to be a wizard after selflessly giving the win to my sister out of fairness, I'd never stop being one. Like wtf. You could have a family and still be the professor, couldn't you? Living in a magical world forever sounds way better than marrying some random girl, having kids, getting old and then dying. Just marry a girl in the wizard world man wtf?! Have kids there! Then there's no dying and you still get magic. I hate corporations. They ruined the show. They couldn't resist making some stupid half assed spinoff that makes no sense. The cash grab was too tempting. Noones gonna care about this rant except my partners and the gals I'm flirting with prolly so hi!! Hello all yall lovely ladies! Hope you enjoyed my crazed rant about a show I haven't watched!

I absolutely LOVE Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. It actually is a good Disneycom that both pays respect to the old show and creates new, interesting lore. At this stage in life I fully accept that it's not for my age demographic and I'm just watching for the nostalgia vibes.
Everyone's been talking about Justin having his powers when he shouldn't, and even that doesn't bother me. There's only been ten episodes. I have some faith that it will be addressed, maybe even become BIG DRAMA for the season finale. This is Wizards - you know there's going to be some loophole down the line.
I will say, I do hope they make a big deal out of it rather than sweep it under the rug with "oh, that law was overturned years ago" or something like that. I'm still raising an eyebrow at Roman's "skipped a generation" comment about his father's wizard powers, because I don't buy that either. I sincerely hope that comes into play again sooner rather than later - Max only got his full powers at 12, so Roman could be a late bloomer. He might even only be 11 depending on when his birthday falls.
But as for the "no marrying a mortal" rule, I'm putting my money on Justin "slightly bending" the rules so he could keep his powers, maybe with some (okay, a LOT) of encouragement from Alex. I can also see a case where Justin honestly, naively, hopefully assumed that because he "gave up" magic after the Wiztech fiasco, he didn't need to officially give his powers up to the Council (or "Tribunal" as they're calling it now).
Tbh I mainly want this to play out so Jerry or Theresa (preferably both) get really mad at Justin and say something like, "I always knew one of my kids would end up living outside the law. I just didn't expect it to be you!" Bonus points if they say it to both Justin and Max in the same episode and Alex stands there like "really??"

Ok Justin was 20 at the end of Waverly place (2012)
This show takes place in 2024 (12 years later)
His oldest son seems around 12/13
But he didn’t meet Giada (his wife) until after he was fired from Wiztech
So either
A. Justin was only Headmaster of wiztech for a very short time (a year or less) before the “unicorn incident” when he was fired, after which he immediately met Giada and had Roman
B. Justin didn’t meet Giada after he was fired. He temporarily had a Hannah Montana double life thing going on until he couldn’t handle it anymore. Eventually this pressure caused the “unicorn incident” and Justin fully committed his life to being mortal with his wife and son
C. Roman isn’t biologically Giada’s he’s either adopted (which I wouldn’t guess cause he’s a mini Justin) OR he’s from a previous relationship… this is a roundabout way of saying Juliette is Roman’s bio mom, which might also explain the lack of powers thing

Timelines in this new wizards spin off just isn’t adding up, Justin is 34, but his oldest son is like 10, so he has a kid at 24, but like he’s a traditional guy so he gets married say at 22, but then when did he give up his wand and left wiztech because in the finale he’s like 20 so what he has 2 years of being a full wizard and then gives it up to get married ?? When did he and Juliet break it off and where and when did he meet his wife???
#I blame Disney for me thinking 30 was old#why are they parents with their shit together#I like that Alex seems child free#but I want her and Mason together#she does mention she loves dogs#is that a call out to her werewolf boyfriend#wizards of waverly place#wizards beyond waverly place#Selena Gomez

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Question?
So original Wizards of Waverly Place made it clear on multiple occasions that if a Wizard was to marry a Mortal, they would have to give up their powers. But Justin can use magic. Did the Wizarding World get rid of that stupid rule, or did the writers forget they had that stupid rule?
Also if Wiztech existed before Harry Potter, how could Warner Brothers/whoever sue them?

I just saw the first episode of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and I can't believe the stuff I learned.
Justin was FIRED from WizTech after an incident with a unicorn. He felt so ashamed and believing himself to be a failure, he gave up wizardry and he is keeping his past a secret from his wife and kids.
Max is a billionaire?!!
Justin's kids find out about magic, but keep their newfound knowledge a secret from their dad.
Now the real question is how long until Justin's entire family finds out the truth and they don't have to keep hiding magic from each other.

I just know that everyone in her class at WizTech absolutely hates Alex because that girl didn’t do any work, broke all the rules, and had a 2.0 gpa and then she ended up saving the entire wizard world multiple times
#hugh is out there defending her with his life#‘she’s a good wizard i swear’ ‘she failed out of basic charms’#alex russo#wizards of waverly place

Not Wizards of Waverly Place getting a sequel series????
I miss Alex Russo soooo much omg. Was getting a kick of nostalgia and wanted to look into my favourite couples from that show.
First of all though, Alex Russo is such an Ashwini m'kay.
And secondly, I was kinda surprised that her first (and best) love interest is Dean who's played by a Jupiter nakshatra. I so wished he was Rahuvian but the Ketu x Jupiter pairing strikes again cause he's actually Purva Bhadrapada Sun, Punarvasu Moon and I think it'll make more sense if I just rewatched the show (very fitting for a Punarvasu to like a Ketuvian though). But I remember they had the most outstanding chemistry idgaf what anyone says.

THEY DID THEM SOOO DIRTY. Literally so much chemistry and cute banters gone to waste!!
Another one is not particularly a love interest but in Season 2, there was a whole WizTech storyline in which this evil kid falls for her. He's Ronald, a wizard like her, and he's a Hasta Moon -- which makes sense as he used trickery disguising himself as Dean to break up with her as him so that she could go to his school. Hasta men using deceit, trickery and disguises to get what they want... LMAO.

And her third love interest (endgame) is Ketuvian himself, being Ashwini Moon just like her. Also, a Rohini Sun (Ketu x Moon pair again). Visually they looked cute together and had amazing chemistry. And this was Disney's most beloved couple for a reason.

Loved them. All the angst and drama and shit.
BUT Dean was too much of a solid boyfriend and he was soo sweet and had no drama; I WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!
Okay but the BEST relationship she's had? Overall? Her and Stevie, IMO. Yup, Stevie who is Revati. Both effortlessly embodying the mischievous troublemaker trope so well. Them literally being partners in crime. Stevie is also Anuradha Moon. And Anuradha natives can often be misunderstood delinquents. But their dynamic was mostly Ashwini x Revati; both being gandanta nakshatras and both being extremely mischievous "evil geniuses" for their little pranks and schemes.

And they had a deep understanding towards each other and I'm pretty sure they were gay for each other too.
Yeah but I miss Alex and Dean's banter fr :(

Drarry at Christmas! 🎄☃️
Thank you, @thehoneybeet + @lemonlimelea for tagging me! You know, I haven't really thought much about this before, but I can't wait to figure out how my variations of the boys spend Christmas! Lea's is here, and Honey's is here!
everybody knows to dance!
Luna and Ginny host an enormous Christmas, and Molly is a bit pissed that she's not hosting at the Burrow, until she accepts it and learns to relax as Luna takes the reins. Harry puts the finishing touches on a lawn chair he's made for them, before Draco drags him out of the shop. Lots of mulled wine, lots of cider. A healthy dose of alien-like dancing.
soft hands and glowing eyes
Fluffy spends the entire day trying to attack the Christmas tree. Harry threatens to withhold her presents while Draco makes excuses for her behavior, before making sure to sneak her a few extra treats.
author's note
Draco wakes up early to work on his manuscript without taking away from the day. It's an epilogue, of sorts, though he's not sure what it's about yet. They spend the day with their children- probing Luna about what she gets up to at university, and laughing until they're in tears when Scorpius gives Draco a bound copy of some very smutty fanfiction, involving the two main characters of his books. They feel a bit weird about it.
Better In The Dark (I'll Try Anything Once)
Draco and Hermione chat quietly in a corner about some recent developments in the WizTech world, her daughter asleep on his shoulder. Harry dozes on the couch with a glass of red he's been nursing for two hours at this point, content to watch them chatter on. The fire in the hearth bounces off of his hair, and when he catches Draco's eyes darting to him in a lust-filled panic, he's extraordinarily pleased.
Reverie
Scorpius finally returns home for school for a few weeks with a fun surprise for his fathers: a new girlfriend! Draco and Scorpius play piano side by side, while Harry talks shit about Jameson from work with Scorp's girl, who is genuinely very interested in the drama. All is right with the world.
__
This was so fun! I'm so glad I got to revisit these stories and roll them around in my brain again. I can't wait to get back to writing. Happy New Year!

New official Wizards sequel dropped yesterday. Here's what we learned from the first episode. Spoilers ahead.
Justin got fired as headmaster of WizTech because of the 'Unicorn Incident' and gave up teaching wizards after that. He's now the principal of his sons' middle school. He has also never told his wife or sons that he is a wizard, and neither of his sons have magic.
Max, who inherited the Waverly Sub Station at the end of the original series, has turned it into a billion-dollar sandwich shop franchise.
Alex is now on the Wizard Council, which this series is calling the Tribunal.
Billie, the new main character, is apparently part of a rather cliche prophecy that she will stop the end of the world, hence why Alex needs Justin to teach her after all her other teachers gave up on her.
Wait what do you mean Justin's kids don't have Magic? How does that happen?
Justin getting fired is kinda bullshit like there was a Whole Thing™ about how he was so valuable to the world of Magic that he was allowed to keep his powers despite losing the competition.
Also they really did the 'super rebellious character with a dislike of authority is now part of The System™' bit huh. Hopefully this is Alex less 'ah this is a good career path for me!' and more 'if I want to make changes for the better I unfortunately have to game the system'
Good for Max tho
Also bruh why do we need some Prophecy can't we just have this annoying child like 'hey teach me Magic!!!"

WBWP rantings and questions (to be added on upon)
How tf did Justin expect to hide his secret from his family? Roman is probably in middle school so around ~12 years old. At this point Roman should’ve presented as a Wizard and gone through that wizard puberty. Is he going to have to wear the floppy hat?
Max being rich is a win !! My mans is smart and resourceful as seen when he sold bottled water. Max finally getting what he deserves. I hope Jake comes in at least one episode as a guest star.
Justin: “A wise wizard once told me: ‘You fail only if you give up.’” I’m done so cute 🥺
David Henrie I need you to find some loophole on how Justin was able to do magic at the end of episode 1. He is married and not at Wiztech anymore. Is Justin only able to ‘turn on’ the lair? Doesn’t that still count as magic?
How short of a time Justin was actually a Professor at Wiztech is CRAZY— Justin turns 34 in ep 1 of WBWP. Roman is approximately 12~ years old. So if Roman was born when Justin was 22, let’s say he met Giana at 20. Justin was made a Wiztech Professor at age 19. That is barely anytime to be a Professor
Alex: “So, what? You just hide out here in Staten Island and deny who you are?” She clocked him 💀
Justin you are a full grown man hiding your whole ass identity as a wizard to your wife and kids. Just admit she’s your beard to hide the fact that you want to be with your sister 😒
Justin pulled Alex by the hand in ep 1 to have a ‘private discussion’ moment !! What a throwback 😍
Mark my words Billie and Roman are getting together. Not this season, but if they have a season added on, this will be tried. It’s a bit ‘Justin/Alex if they were kept best friends as planned*’
The monsters at least at episode 1 are very intense compared to our campy WOWP. The scariest thing there was a jealous boyfriend who would wolf out and eat your ex whole. I wonder how the tone will be since they’re trying to build a plot of Billie saving the world. I think it’s nice that there is a pressure like that added in. WOWP had more of a sitcom feel especially in seasons 1-2 where the formula “Alex uses magic badly, she must fix it in order to have her parents not ground her.” was beat to death
*The whole ‘Justin-and-Alex were written as best friends then made into siblings!’ thing may be a rumor, idk. I haven’t seen any sources for or against it… except for having eyes ofc but don’t get me started

Are we going to see Billie’s family? Doesn’t the family usually teach the kids magic? Or were the Russos just home schooled??? There was a wiztech in the original but idk I thought those were just like…. Kids who needed extra help??
