We go hard and grind, some times only to be discouraged because we are comparing our progress or success to someone else's. But when we change the perspective and start celebrating ourselves and hoaning in on our crafts and mastering who we are and what we do, we open ourselves up to limitless opportunities to prosper. It's UNHEALTHY to use other people's success and progress as a barometer for our own. We can be inspired by them, use what we learn but never compare. When you believe in yourself and what you do there is no race fitting for how fast or slow you'll run...Just glide and know that your light shines brightest when you keep the batteries fresh and distractions clear. Keep working on yourself, keep planning and focusing on improving the quality of everything that comes from you. Reposted from @yahminahmcintosh_ - Having the right attitude will save you some time, energy and money. Laugh, Smile, Dance, speak life...repeat! So as my destiny would have it, as I was ending my day, I looked outside and saw that it was snowing heavyily!! Ugh, I stomped and there was some eye rolling too, lol. I know how the drive home usually is in weather like this and I was not necessarily feeling that long drive. Ok so that was my little fit I threw then I shifted, because I knew that my attitude toward the snowy conditions (inevitable because, hellooooo it's Winter Yahminah!!) would make my drive home not so amazing and longer than it should be. So Chile I had to get myself together and prepare for this journey. I took off my suit coat and heels, put on my coat (I wore my lighter winter coat today because I've been having some crazy hot flashes) and backpack and hit it! (I've always wanted to say "Hit it" like that. lol. I put one of my headphone plugs in my left ear and rocked out to "Summertime" by Will Smith. For a moment there I felt like I was walking in Slow Motion! It was so cool and I'm just amazed at the power of the imagination! I tell you at 43 years old I'm finding ways to always have the time of my life and today this came in real handy because I had quite an involved day. So as I walked out into the world and started the journey (notice I said "journey" and not "hike"...Oh the Power of Language) toward my vehicle the real inside work continued and what happened next BLEW MY MIND. Reposted from @yahminahmcintosh_ - Today has been a Productive, beautiful, insight filled and loooooooong day. I feel so blessed to be alive, so that alone gives me LIFE. I had a great workout and mind blowing meditation this morning that was so clearing and really helped to set the tone for my day. I then had a great conversation with Micaiah before school that made me look at my son and smile (Boy Oh boy, he's definitely not my "little man" anymore lol) The journey of raising him has been amazing and now I'm continuing on my journey of growth in the area of letting him grow up into the young man he's becoming. Today was day 1 of my effort to stop using my microwave all together and what an adjustment that was!! Now I don't use it a lot, but I have used it in the past and I want to see how life and health would be without it. This also presented an opportunity for me to teach Micaiah about the health benefits of not using the microwave and opened the door for a great discussion. I usually make Turkey Bacon and oatmeal for him in my microwave or warm up pancakes or waffles that I've made, so that means that I had to cook them the old fashioned way (well kind of) So I used my "NuWave Oven" and Toaster Oven instead. Anyhoo, this day is coming to an end and I'm looking forward to a nice dinner, relaxing shower, decompressing stillness and a good night's sleep. I have some things in spiritual gestation that are preparing to be birthed so that's causing me to redistribute my energy and to move differently. My prayer is that there is peace, hope, purpose and joy that rests upon all who receive this. Reposted from @yahminahmcintosh_ - Oftentimes I'm asked how does Lupus affect my life and depending on what stage of life I'm in, my answer will be short or loaded. Today I see it differently although the pain can sometimes be more severe during Flare ups or on not so amazing days, but Im alive and that is the blessing that keeps on giving. This picture is an accurate depiction of the type of discomfort that many of us with Lupus experience. I remember the last time I was training for a Trio of Marathons that were coming up in 2015 that I wanted to do. That was such an exciting time for me but it would also be the moment that I heard my body loud and clear and realized that it was time to step away and rest. My kidneys were in distress, I had a minor stroke and a host of other issues began to manifest. The road was bumpy, hard and a blessing all at the same time because I learned to listen to my body and started paying attention to the little things. Fast forward 3.5 years and I feel better than I have in a very long time although I still have some rough days. I take each of beautiful day as it comes and take excellent care of myself. I am a Lupus Warrior.
