Disclaimer, please read:

There are SO many different perspectives on how it works. Mine is not the only one and though all perspectives are valid, I'm going to assume that you chose to ask me because you are familiar with my blog and how I personally view shifting.

I'm going to try to leave LOA out of it but that is how I personally view shifting.

What is shifting?

Shifting is when you become aware of the life you're living in another reality. The reality you shift into is just as real as the one you are currently in. It will feel real because it is.

How to shift

Strictly speaking, you don't have to do anything to shift. How people shift is so personal and customized and nothing is necessary to do it but I'll try my best to give "instructions" anyway.

You decide you're in your DR, you decide that it is true and it has worked, ignore anything outside of yourself that tells you otherwise, and know that it is true because you freaking said it was.

You decide you've shifted and ignore anything but that decision. That is IT. Don't worry about this reality, it doesn't matter. Don't worry about any aspects of this reality you can still hear see or feel, they won't stop you from shifting don't let them distract you.

ALL you have to do is become aware of your DR. I know that it can be hard to conceptualize that for a beginner so most people use methods.

Methods

To start off: It is not necessary to have a method. Many people just intend to shift and then they do. That's it. You don't have to do anything, however I recognize that for someone who isn't familiar with shifting "just intend to" is probably an unhelpful answer.

Most methods can be divided into two categories, awake and asleep methods.

Awake methods revolve around becoming aware that you are already in your DR.

Asleep methods revolve around becoming aware that you will wake up in your DR.

Common features in both kinds of methods:

Meditation

Visualization

Affirmations

Affirmations are pretty straightforward, you repeat a sentence that aligns with your goal over and over. "I have shifted. I am in my DR."

What I personally do

I robotically affirm all day "I am going to shift tonight" robotic affirmations are just repeated affirmations without feeling. So all day I just say it to myself again and again.

I then take some time to sit down and imagine my desired reality, my favorite street, pretty things I would see throughout the day, stuff that grounds me in the feeling of it.

Then I just lay down and tell myself I'm there no matter what. No matter what I feel hear or see I am there.

Doesn't matter I'm there.

Frequently asked questions

I am choosing to put these first because I feel like they really clarify what shifting is and how it works.

Will I have memories of my destination reality once I have shifted?

Yes, you have always existed in that reality and you have a life's worth of memories there. When you become aware of a reality and of the version of yourself that exists within it you also become aware of your memories there.

How does scripting work/ what is it?

It is a description of the reality you'd like to shift into, usually written. Think of it as an the address of the reality you'd like to shift to. You specify the details of the life you would like to become aware of. Having one is not necessary.

Can I script [insert anything here] ?

Yes. You can script anything, and I mean anything. If you can imagine it, it is possible. The realities we shift to do not have to follow the rules of this one and what is impossible here doesn't have to be impossible there. You want to script the sky is purple? Then it is. You want to have wings? Congratulations you can. I cannot stress this enough, ANYTHING you want can be scripted.

a sinking feeling set into your stomach, but you smiled, "good for him."

you sighed, cheerily stepping away, "well, gotta help everyone match clothes with their dates, so... see you later."

he frowned, looking between you and the werewolf but not processing, opting to pick up his order and leave.

rounding a corner later that evening, the dress you'd picked out draped over your arm, you were so distracted by counting the cobbles beneath your feet, you didn't notice a frame blocking your way until you crashed into it.

a blush swept across your cheeks, "merlin, sorry, i wasn't-"

you cut yourself off as you raised your gaze to the person you'd slammed headfirst into. remus.

the secret crush you'd been harbouring wasn't helped by him sheepishly holding your dress to stop it hitting the ground.

"that's fine, no worries."

the two of you awkwardly stared for a moment before he cleared his throat, "your dress is, erm- it's really pretty."

you flushed more, dipping your head and trying to eliminate the shake from your voice, "oh, thanks. i wasn't totally sold, but i suppose, yeah."

the smile you gave him shot honey through his heart as he blurted out, "it's beautiful. and you're going to look beautiful in it. your date is er, very lucky."

your heart leapt at the possibility he was trying to figure out if you had a date yet - but you pushed it down, not wanting to get your hopes slashed down.

"i don't have a date." it was a bit blunt, but you weren't really paying attention.

remus brightened then, gryffindor (specifically marauder) confidence returning to him.

"good, because i was planning on asking you to be mine."

once again, your dizzy smile rendered him unfocused, but he saw your head nodding enough to gauge your answer, "i'd like that."

with a jolt of happiness, he said, "i'll walk you back to the castle, then?"

you nodded, a lovesick grin spreading across your face as the two of you left the village. he kept the conversation flowing with ease, carrying your dress for you, and when you reached the hufflepuff common room, he kissed your forehead and waited for you to go inside before leaving.

the night of the ball arrived only a few days later, and after a very hectic environment within your dorm (which you were sure was mirrored around the castle), you were satisfied with your appearance.

if not slightly anxious to leave your room.

remus had said he'd come pick you up, so you could walk over to the hall together. most dates were doing the same.

the first girl to leave your dorm was on her way to the ravenclaw tower to pick up her girlfriend.

the second ducked out when her slytherin date arrived at the door.

the third was going by herself, determined to have a good time with her friends and waltzing out when she was ready, waving you goodbye.

and lastly you, descending the stairs and peeking around the entrance just as remus turned the corner. he stopped abruptly as you fully revealed yourself from behind the wall.

"you look really nice." he managed after a moment of stunned silence, to which the familiar tint coloured your cheeks.

"so do you remus." you returned shyly.

his clothes may not have been polished and first hand like you knew some people's would be, but they were so distinctly his.

somehow, you figured remus could show up wearing anything and pull it off.

the whole event was a giddy blur of twirling and laughing and spinning and chatting and slow dancing and drinking (james seperated the drinks into spiked and not spiked).

when your brother and his "date" (or as you liked to refer to him, the potter family's beloved yet illegal lodger) showed up, seeing you giggling with remus, the gape on their faces suggested remus hadn't told them.

making a huge show of swinging hands, the two approached you, "moony, what is this!? you're romancing my sister?" james demanded, sirius lightly stamping his foot for effect.

before either of you could reply, he'd dramatically collapsed into sirius and you honestly wondered if the two had planned this little choreography.

remus tucked you slightly to the side, because their performance was expanding in radius and he worried you were about to get kicked. you had to stifle your laugh into your sleeve as you watched james straighten himself.

"thank you honey, you're always there to catch me."

"of course my lovebug, always."

remus groaned, "you two could win an oscar, seriously."

the other three of you, purebloods, frowned, muttering, "oscar?", "you mean that hufflepuff guy called oscar?", "oh, he's running a competition?"

remus sighed, brushing it off, "nevermind. dance with me, y/n?"

your focus was entirely on him as you joined the dancing, james and sirius standing at the side.

sirius clapped a hand onto your brother's shoulder, "think of all the guys at hogwarts for a sec - moony's gotta be a better match for your sister, right?"

he nodded, "suppose so, yeah."

"and if, you know, he got her pregnant or something, he's all responsi-"

right, so jtta ended yesterday, and i did consider just taking a break from writing, but it turns out i Need to keep doing it or i get antsy. not having something to actively work on (no matter how slowly) appears to be very bad for me

3rd anni is less than a week away, but i'm opening the requests in advance so i can get started - they'll be posted here on tumblr (and probably also compiled on ao3) starting from the anniversary, which is march 7th.

A couple months since Nanami met Mizuki, she received an invitation to his home. "Oh look Tomoe! Mizuki sent us an invitation!" Nanami said and showed her familiar the paper.

"We haven't heard from him in months and he just sends an invitation so suddenly? Something's fishy." Tomoe mumbled as he stared at the paper with a raised brow. "Please Tomoe? It might be something good for once!" Nanami begged with a pleading look. Tomoe pinched in between his nose before sighing. "If that's what you wish, Lady Nanami." Tomoe folded his arms.

When they arrived to Mizuki's 'shrine' everything was slightly more colorful than usual. "How odd." Tomoe said as he looked around. The door opened revealing Mizuki who looked really happy. "You're here, Nanami!" Mizuki said with a smile as he walked up to her and Tomoe.

"I'm very sorry I didn't specify why you two should come in the letter." "No no, it's alright. So what was it you wanted us to come visit you?" Nanami asked and tilted her head to the side a bit. "I've found a new wife!" Mizuki exclaimed and clasped his hands together.

"That's wonderful! Where is she?" "Who knew you could achieve another wife so fast." "He's inside reading right now. I'll take you to him." Mizuki said, ignoring Tomoe's comment. "Did he say he or am I hearing things?" Nanami asked Tomoe confused. "He might of said he by accident, who knows." Tomoe told her before the two followed Mizuki inside. They took a few turns till the ended up at a door that was decorated differently than the other doors.

"Y/n!~ I've brought some quest who would like to meet you!" Mizuki chirped before opening the door. You turned your head to look at them before a gentle smile formed on your lips. "Good afternoon. Are you perhaps Mizuki's friends?" You asked and closed the book you were reading. "Yes! Are you Mizuki's wife?" Nanami asked with a smile. "Yes, but I'd like it if you'd say husband since I am a male." You lightly laughed before standing up and walked over to them.

"I'm Y/n L/n. It's nice to meet you." You said and shook Nanami's hand. "I'm Nanami Momozono and he's Tomoe, my familiar." Nanami introduced herself before they all sat down on some cushions. "So, Y/n, how did you and Mizuki meet?" Tomoe asked.

"Well, I came across him when he was a snake and thought he was really cute so I took him home with me, but after I had placed him in a tank I had, there was this strange mark on my hand. So after I went to get that checked out I came home to him like he is now and he explained to me that he chose me as his 'wife'. But I didn't really agree with it since I didn't know him that well so we took some time to get to know each other and here we are now. Very sorry if I'm talking to much." You explained as Mizuki laid his head on your lap while you stroked his head with a gentle smile makin him snuggle a bit closer to his lover.

"Aww that's adorable! Right Tomoe?" Nanami squealed and looked at Tomoe. "You can say that." Tomoe said, a small and unnoticeable smile present on his lips.

Movelang #000 - Introduction to the Language and Noun Class System

Nophhurra, my friends! Today I begin a series of posts showcasing an experimental conlang that I've been working on now and tinkering with for just over a year. At the moment, this language does not have a name in-conlang, and so I'll be referring to it for the time being by the language's project name "Movelang". Originally this language came about as the result of an idea that I wanted to experiment with in a conlang, and the language has since solidified and expanded in more ways than one. In this post, I'll be introducing you all to Movelang, along with the goals that I have since codified for it. As it stands, this language currently holds no connection to my Personal Conworld Project, as it is currently only an experiment, and I don't see it being adapted in any way for it, at least for the time being, but who knows, that could change one day!

The origins of Movelang lay in a discord server that I was and still am actively a part of. At the time, a group of us were discussing neat and nontrivial noun class systems that could potentially be used in a conlang, and one of us (I can't remember exactly who right now, but I do know it wasn't me), suggested an idea for a noun class system that is based on the mode by which nouns in question would be transported or moved around. We all loved this idea right away, and we set originally to put together a server collaborative conlang to implement this idea. After some time passed though, the project fell into obscurity, but I still found this idea to be super cool, and wanted to experiment with it further, and so I ended up stealing the idea, and building it into my own personal experimental piece!

The resulting noun class system shown above is what I ended up with after reconsidering the original class system that we had come up with together. The system I devised consists of 8 noun classes, a slight upgrade from what had originally been 6 more broad classes, which are distinguished by a mode of moving, carrying, or transport used for associated nouns in the appropriate class. I also gave each class a cool name that reflects the mode of movement associated with it as well! The class definitions are of course broad as well, as is the case with all languages that make use of noun classes, and not all nouns that fit into one of these classes will follow the category specified for each one.

In terms of goals, my primary goal was of course to implement the cool noun class concept that the group I was in had originally devised: to set up noun classes based on mode of movement for prospective nouns. Aside from this, my intention is also to experiment with a couple of other aspects of conlanging that I had been wanting to use hitherto. One of the big ones is being able to create a lot from a little in terms of derivations, which I've been able to do for the most part already, in addition to a loose adherence to naturalism, which hasn't been as big of a goal for me with this being an experiment, as already mentioned, but has helped me to keep the language looking plausibly realistic for the most part.

As I continue sharing more bits and pieces with you all about Movelang, I hope to show you how I've been able to adhere to these goals as its development has moved forward, slowly but surely, and I can't want to show you all what I've made very soon!

What qualifies someone as a bestselling author? Which lists "count"? Obviously NYT is the big one, then USA Today. But what other lists mean you can properly call yourself a bestselling author if you're on them? Does being #1 in a category on Amazon count? The bestselling book at your local store? A little bestseller banner for a short time on the B&N website?

I guess 'bestselling' CAN mean anything, but generally speaking, if you are using that as a bragging point, you'd want to specify. NYT Bestselling, USA Today Bestselling, PW Bestselling, Indie Bestselling (ie, appearing on the Indie Bookstore Bestseller List) -- those things mean something. In the UK, Sunday Times means something. In Germany, Der Spiegel means something. (If you appeared on multiple big lists like that in multiple countries, you could say "Internationally Bestselling.")

If you were to just say "bestselling" without a specification, that's kinda dubious. Whaddya mean by "bestselling"? Bestselling at your grandma's retirement home? That doesn't count.

Also, having a banner on B&N or a yellow thing on Amazon, or being "#1 > books > children's books > sports > pickle ball " or whatever doesn't really count. Those "rankings" fluctuate by the hour -- if somebody places a big order for your book at 5:15, that might make it a "bestseller" in that niche of a niche category for a while, maybe even a long while until a different pickle ball book sells -- and that's exciting and fun! -- but that doesn't indicate sustained good sales. Whereas if to get on the NYT or Indie or PW or USA Today lists, you'd have to have good sales all week, against EVERY book in the children's category, not just against every pickleball book or every sports book.

So yes. This has been a loooong time coming.

Hi there, so if you're reading this, it is likely you agree that I am quite terrible at maintaining a consistent taglist, so I'm going to scratch it off and start all over again. And I'm also terribly disorganised, so yes, but that's a story for another day.

I haven't like worked on a lot of Guinevere fics, because I actually.. haven't finished Guinevere yet. I know, I know. I'm a terrible person. I still have 4-5 chapters to go and I'm collecting a lot of diamonds to pay for all the scenes, so apologies lmao. I mostly would write for MC x Artura because Artura is the GOAT. I also haven't prepared a masterlist for that, so maybe I'll do that in the coming days. Either way, let me know if you'd like to be tagged for Guinevere!
