17:35. Kuantan, Malaysia
The faint scents of black coffee and your favourite raspberry black tea tickle your nose as you rouse from a rather deep sleep. What should have been a little catnap turned into a full-blown siesta…
Huh. Somehow you don't feel quite like yourself as you rose from your bed— a two poster with a breezy canopy, the colour to your exact liking. There was an impression on the other side of the bed though the sheets were still neatly folded, as though someone had just gotten up from being comfortably seated for a while.
"Finally awake?"
Nanami's deep voice cuts through your still-muddled thoughts as he takes a seat on your side of the bed this time. He brushes up the hair on your forehead and presses a tender kiss to your temple that leaves you a little baffled.
"Kento! How long have I been asleep?"
"Long enough," he replied as he gently handed you a mug of your tea. You noticed he had the same one, though it was full of his black coffee. It must come in pairs, then… The tea wasn't piping hot anymore, just enough for you to take a sip without burning your tongue. And he never forgets your single sugar cube, too. "You were grumbling in your sleep, but not the sort that would make me wake you."
"Oh, it was probably because I was dreaming—" You cut yourself off before you could even tell him about it—
—all the screaming, all the blood, all the danger that seemed to follow even after all the running you've done.
Was it an omen? A sign of sorts? You didn't want to dwell on that nightmare any further because even just remembering it upset you.
Nanami carefully takes back the mug when he notices you visibly trembling. "What's the matter?"
And you catch the little glimmer of a golden band around his left ring finger, one that matched the diamond ring on yours.
We're married.
You look him in the eyes and you know now for certain that you'd love him in a different life— in that other life, too, but that didn't matter and shouldn't matter anymore because the reality is… There was no blood, no danger, no running around aimlessly— there was just you and Nanami in your cosy seaside residence, the soft chill of the salty afternoon wind gently blowing through your curtains and canopy.
"You know what, I can't remember anymore. It doesn't really matter that much, either," you said with a defeated sigh, your lips slowly curling to a smile as you tried to reach for your tea again. Instead, he slides into your eager arms and hums in agreement.
You're further brought back to your senses when he coiled his long and tense arms around your waist, dragging back your sleepy self to the matter of fact. His voice reverberates against your chest and you feel yourself cling onto him. "You're right. Why bother when reality is so much better?"
— he's here. He always has been. And he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I love a good meet-cute and have somehow ended up with a little collection of Fiyeraba stand alone meet-cutes, which I'm calling Timeless, a series (named such for Taylor Swift reasons). In honour of Wicked's 20th birthday today, I thought I'd post one.
He Just Knew: Fiyero isn't sure what to think when his longtime girlfriend suggests it time they make a decision about their future. He loves her, but always thought he'd know when it was time to propose- like his father always said. Going home to clear his head seems like the best idea. And then he sees a green girl across the room... and he just knew.

TIMELESS — JACK HUGHES
jack hughes x fem!reader
surprise song! part (and final part) of the Speak Now Fic List
summary: in which y/n writes she and Jack’s first dance song and it’s Jack’s first time hearing it
notes: Taylor doesn’t exist in this alternative universe, and you’ll understand why! (2.5k words)
Tumblr media
“i want you to write our first dance song.”
when Jack had told me that just five months ago, i was at a loss for words.
i’m no pop star, by any means, and i’ve never desired to be one. i dabble in song writing as a way to release my anxiety and that’s it.
i’ve bounced lyrics off of Jack for as long as i can remember. we went from facetimes in high school, after practice, singing him verses i was unsure of, to sitting beside him in bed, my guitar in my hands as i tried to work out lyrics and having him put his two cents in.
he knew i never planned for anyone else to hear them. they were for he and i’s ears only. yet he still complimented my voice, my lyricism, the instrumentals i played out in the dead of night.
he told me i wrote like a poet. he called me the greatest storyteller who’s ever lived.
but the greatest compliment, and also the greatest challenge, he’s ever given me, was to write the song to which we’ll have our first dance as husband and wife. to write our love into the purest form of art.
it took me four months to write what our love felt like, into words. constant lyric changes, and multiple instances of scrapping a song altogether and starting anew. it took another month for me to get it all made in a rented studio. recorded and produced into the song it is now.
but as i took so long to perfect it to my liking, i took the greatest risk of my songwriting journey. i never once bounced lyrics off of Jack. i wrote only when he was on roadies, hiding my journal inside of an old blanket that sits on the high shelf in our closet when he was home.
i wanted this song to be a complete surprise once it was finished. i wanted him to only hear it once it was in its perfected form. and that would be today.
my leg bounces on the couch, my fingers playing with the fringed side of the decorative pillow that lies within my lap, as i wait for Jack to get home from practice.
my nerves are quickly rising, my anxiety getting the best of me. if he dislikes this song, then i only have one month to create an entirely new one.
i feel sick. like i could both pass out and lose my breakfast at any moment.
my head perks up as i hear the apartment door open, the un-hushed whispers of Jack and Luke reaching my ears, and when they step into the living room, the signature smile on Jack’s face brightens.
“hi, baby.” he grins, bounding forward to press a kiss to my forehead. “i didn’t think you would be awake already.”
“i got it.” i rush out, the monotonous small talk of the moment not appealing to me in the slightest.
“got what, doll?” Jack’s brows thread together in confusion, and i can hear Luke’s pots and pans clattering in the kitchen.
“the final demo of our first dance song.” my teeth sink into my bottom lip, watching realization settle over Jack’s face. “the producer sent it to me this morning.”
“that’s great, baby! why do you look like your gonna throw up?” he laughs, taking a seat beside me on the sofa.
“because i’m scared you’re gonna hate it.” i confess. “i spent so long on this one song, making it into something i’m proud of, but it all means nothing if you don’t think it’s good enough.”
“hey.” he coos softly, a gentle hand raising to cup my cheek. “i love everything you write. and i know that this song is gonna be no exception.”
his forehead rests against mine, my eyes fluttering shut as i take a deep breath.
“are you ready to hear it?” my words come out in a whisper and i can feel him nod against me.
“i’ve been ready since the day i asked you to write it.” i pull back to smile at my fiancé, heaving out a deep sigh.
“hey Luke?” he calls out, getting a distracted ‘yeah?’ in return. “you mind giving us a few minutes alone?”
“uhh-” Luke peeks through kitchen entryway. “‘in my room’ alone? or ‘leave the apartment’ alone?”
“in your room is fine.” i assure him gently and he nods.
i watch as he turns the stove off before walking to his room. as soon as his door shuts, Jack is turning to me with an excited smile.
“okay, let’s listen!” my hand shakes as i lean forward, clicking on my laptop that rests on the coffee table, pressing play on the file.
the first notes echo throughout the living room, the gentle guitar strums causing Jack’s eyes to crinkle as he smiles softly, bobbing his head, his eyes glued to the laptop screen.
“Down the block, there's an antique shop
And something in my head said, ‘Stop,’ so i walked in
On the counter was a cardboard box
And the sign said, ‘Photos: twenty-five cents each’
Black and white, saw a '30s bride
And two lovers laughin' on the porch of their first house
The kinda love that you only find once in a lifetime
The kind you don't put down”
he looks over at me, confusion written across his face, but his eyes still shining with joy.
“And that's when i called you and it's so hard to explain
But in those photos, i saw us instead
And, somehow, i know that you and i would've found each other
In another life, you still would've turned my head even if we'd met”
his eyes grow softer, my cheeks heating up.
sure, i’ve written love songs about Jack in the past, but this one was special. this one speaks a truer and deeper meaning than any of my past songs.
“On a crowded street in 1944
And you were headed off to fight in the war
You still would've been mine
We would have been timeless
I would've read your love letters every single night
And prayed to God you'd be comin' home all right”
his smile is gentler now, his eyes glistening with unshed tears as he snakes his hand over to hold mine, and i know he’s thinking about the same thing as me.
remembering the time early on in his NHL career, when i confessed to him that every time he went on a roadie, i had so much worry that he would get hurt and i wouldn’t be there for him. when i admitted that, regardless of me not being a highly religious individual, i prayed before every game that he would come out okay. that he would come home in the same condition as he left.
“And you would've been fine
We would have been timeless
'Cause i believe that we were supposed to find this
So, even in a different life, you still would've been mine
We would've been timeless”
salty tears roll down my cheeks at the sight of his, gathering on my chin and dripping down onto our conjoined hands, gripped tightly together in my lap.
“I had to smile when it caught my eye
There was one of a teenage couple in the driveway
Holdin' hands on the way to a dance
And the date on the back said 1958
Which brought me back to the first time I saw you
Time stood still like somethin' in this old shop”
he pulls me closer, until i’m practically sitting on his lap, pressing his lips to my cheek, and i wonder if he’s thinking back on when we first met too. but what he doesn’t know is that i saw him first. i’d never told him that bit.
how i silently pined after him for months until we really met. it’s written in my vows though.
junior year, when i first saw him in the school hallway and it felt like everything around me had frozen.
he had been standing at his locker, laughing about something that Trevor had said. i heard the laugh first, and my entire body felt warm. but then i turned and caught sight of him, and it felt like time had stopped. my heartbeat had sped up, everything around me drowning out until all i could focus on was him.
“I thought about it as i started lookin' 'round
At these precious things that time forgot
That's when i came upon a book covered in cobwebs
Story of a romance torn apart by fate
Hundreds of years ago, they fell in love, like we did
And i'd die for you in the same way, if i first saw your face”
our foreheads press against each other, my thumb wiping away his tears.
“In the 1500s off in a foreign land
And i was forced to marry another man
You still would've been mine
We would have been timeless
I would've read your love letters every single night
And run away and left it all behind
You still would've been mine
We would've been timeless
'Cause i believe that we were supposed to find this
So, even in a different life, you still would've been mine
We would've been timeless”
his lips slot against mine, perfectly placed in harmonious synchrony, our fallen tears mingling together upon the meeting.
“Time breaks down your mind and body
Don't you let it touch your soul
It was like an age-old classic
The first time that you saw me
The story started when you said, ‘Hello’
In a crowded room a few short years ago
And sometimes there's no proof, you just know
You're always gonna be mine
We're gonna be-
I'm gonna love you when our hair is turnin' gray
We'll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we've made
And you'll say, ‘Oh my, we really were timeless’”
my thoughts drift back to the first time we really met.
it was on new year’s eve in our junior year. Cole was having a joint new years and birthday party.
*** DECEMBER 31ST, 2019 ***
Cole’s house is crowded. insanely so.
i didn’t originally plan to come. but Cole’s become a good friend of mine through our shared history class, and he’s been blowing up my phone all day, begging me all day to attend.
so now here i stand.
alone in the crowded living room of Cole Caufield’s billet residence, a red solo cup in my hand as i people watch.
i’m unsure of what to do. Cole currently sits on the couch with a few of his hockey friends from the US National Development Program, and i feel awkward going over there. but i don’t actually know anyone else here.
i tend to keep to myself more often than not, which results in the rest of my friends being fellow introverts that would never be at a party like this.
“y/n!” my eyes grow wide, my head snapping to find where the call of my name had originated from, and i’m slightly surprised to find Cole grinning over at me, his hand waving in the air and motioning me over.
my eyes flicker beside him to see Jack sat next to Alex, both paying no attention to anything going on around them.
with none of Jack’s attention on me, i figure it’s safe to go over and wish Cole a happy early birthday.
i push my shoulders back, standing up straighter, attempting to push my way through a horde of fellow high schoolers.
but my walk is a lot less confident once i witness Jack’s gaze drifts towards me. i stumble a little, crinkling my nose as a guy i share pre-calculus with bumps me in the back.
“hi Cole.” i force a smile on my surely red face, fidgeting under the gaze of all the boys, but especially anxious now that Jack’s attention is on me.
“hey! you came!” Cole rises from his seat, pulling me into a hug, recklessly causing my drink to slosh in its cup.
“well you were texting me all day. you wouldn’t take no for an answer.” i chuckle as he plops back down to the couch with a sigh.
“i couldn’t throw my birthday party and not have my favorite girl show up!” he shouts, my face heating up. “oh! guys, this is y/n! she’s my friend from history!”
the guys all mumble out distracted ‘hey’s, no longer paying any attention to me, more interested in their new conversations or, in Trevor’s case, trying to charm a girl.
except for Jack. his baby blues are still locked on me, the corners of his mouth pulled up in a small smile.
“hello.” it’s only one word, but my heart races in my chest. i’ve been pining after this exact boy from afar for months, and now he knows who i am. “i’m Jack.”
“hi Jack.” i shake his hand, his touch sending shivers down my body.
*** PRESENT ***
Jack’s hand rubs my thigh, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“We're gonna be timeless, timeless
You still would've been mine
We would've been
Even if we'd met on a crowded street in 1944
You still would've been mine
We would've been
Down the block, there's an antique shop
And somethin' in my head said, ‘Stop,’ so i walked in”
*** ONE MONTH LATER ***
my arms wrap around my now-husband’s neck, my hands toying with the hair at the nape of his neck.
our family and friends watch on from their seats, Ellen’s eyes catching mine, tears already threatening to pour over.
the first guitar chords stream out from the speakers as Jacks hand wrap around my waist, and we begin swaying around the dance floor.
Jack’s eyes gaze into mine, smiling as he whispers the lyrics back to me, relieving some of my anxiety from our guests hearing my song.
i grin back at him, craning my neck to press a kiss against his lips as the song nears its end.
i purposefully avoid looking anywhere near the crowd, laying my head on his chest as the song ends, the final chords strumming.
his heartbeat echoes in my ears, quickening as he presses a kiss against the top of my head.
his words are mumbled into my hair, his lips pressed to my scalp- “our love is timeless.”

“Wait, wait, wait. So you’re saying you’re me?” You shook your head as you processed, staring at…well, yourself. They looked like you, just ever so slightly different. They felt different, too.
“I know, right?” They laughed, looking down. It was evident they were just as shell-shocked (pun intended) as you. I mean, it really is baffling. Whether you believe it or not, the multiverse is actually real. You would think will everything you’ve seen in your time of knowing the turtles, this wouldn’t be so shocking.
But this was all so overwhelming. There’s another you? Not to mention another Donnie, Mikey, Raph, Splinter, April; all so different from each other…and another Leo.
“So…your Leo is really something, huh?” They cleared their throat, motioning their head towards the two blue-clad turtles. Your Leo was laughing obnoxiously (, probably at one of his own jokes,) and their Leo looking a little embarrassed.
“You could put it that way…” You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help the smile spreading on your face. He was your Leo.
They snickered in response, “For sure…mine is a little dense, but I still love him.”
Your eyes immediately shot up to meet theirs, full of surprise. “Wait…you guys are, like…a thing?”
“Yeah, you guys aren’t?” They seemed confused, almost like they already knew the answer.
“No, no, we are…I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.” You looked away, your head spinning with questions.
I mean, how was this even possible? Are there other versions of you? What are they like? What have these turtles faced? …Does this mean soulmates are real?
You looked up to them once again, hesitating. “Do you think it’s like this in every timeline?”
They met your gaze with a warm grin, taking your hand in theirs before looking back at their Leo then to yours, “I really hope so.”
You didn’t say it, but you did too. You really, really, really did. You wanted every iteration of you to find what you two have. To be pulled by the invisible string of fate and find each other. Even if every Leo wasn’t the same, that there would always be one similarity. That he would your Leo. And you’re sure that every version of you felt that way, too, especially the one sitting in front of you now.
“Please,” they spoke up again, “I want to hear all about you…and your Leo, I guess.”
You laughed openly, nodding, “where do I even start?”
…………………………….…………………………….………………….
versions for Raph, Mikey, Donnie, and April???

Timeless ❆ Aaron Hotchner
Tumblr media
☃︎ SUMMARY: a timeline of Aaron’s and his soulmates’ love life.
☃︎WARNINGS: random asshole character at the beginning, aaron and jack being cuties, death and mentions of an undisclosed illness, a funeral :(
.。❅⋆⍋∞。∞⍋⋆❅。.
“We would have been timeless, ‘cause I believe that we were supposed to find this. So, even in a different life, you still would've been mine. We would've been timeless.”
Day One
“Aaron!” the barista called into the busy cafe, setting down a carrier of four drinks. His name was quickly sketched across all four, signifying his loss to the team.
Aaron, Penelope, JJ and Luke had made a bet that Aaron would have a home cooked meal for five out of the seven days they were in town. He’d caved on day four, getting home late and craving the acidic burn of pizza sauce and greasiness of mozzarella cheese. He couldn’t help himself, forgetting all about the silly bet he’d made.
He remembered in the morning when he came eye to eye with the Italian man on the pizza place’s logo. Aaron figured it would be easier to just come in with their prize, coffees from Penelope’s favorite local place, and accept defeat than have to confront each of them.
So, he picks up his tray with a sigh and continues his way to his car, hoping to get to the BAU as soon as possible.
However, this would prove difficult. Aaron is shocked to see a big SUV blocking him in, and a lady jumping out of it. “YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!” She yelled into the open door, slamming it at the end of her sentence. Aaron could see the passenger side window roll down. He heard a man’s voice this time, with a much darker, violent tone, “YOU SHOULD’VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU GOT IN THE CAR, BITCH!”
The law enforcement officer in Aaron kicked in when he heard the foul names being thrown towards this lady. She was gearing up to retaliate, but he stepped in front of her. Aaron used his free hand to quickly pull out his badge. It was a bit clumsily, due to the weight of the coffees in his other hand.
Once he was standing protectively in front of the lady and had his badge on full display, Aaron spoke, “I’m going to have to ask you to leave before you cause a further public disturbance.” His voice was low, the same way he talked to suspect. “Oh, fuck you.” The man said one last time, making eye contact with the lady, before pulling off.
“Are you okay?” Aaron turned around to face the lady. “Yeah, the guy’s just an asshole. Fucking offers me a ride and thinks that means he’s getting laid?” You’re rambling at this point, aggravated at the entire situation. “Where are you trying to go?” His entire plan of getting to work quickly went out the window when he saw how beautiful your eyes were.
“I work at the office around the block. I usually drive but someone hit my car yesterday and it’s in the shop today,” Aaron was growing more and more concerned with your wellbeing as you spoke, “I’m just gonna walk. Thanks for taking care of that asshole, I can’t believe I’m gonna have to see him later.”
Aaron knows he should probably walk away, but he can’t stop himself from asking, “See him later?” You nod, “He’s my fucking neighbor. Sorry, I don’t usually cuss this much, he just really pissed me off.” Aaron laughs at this, seeing as the first thing he heard you say was “fucking asshole”.
“You’re sure you don’t need a ride?” He asks one more time. “No, I could probably use the walk to cool off some. Thank you,” Your voice trailed off, not knowing what to call him. He stuck his hand out for you to shake, “Aaron.” He filled in the blank for you.
You told him your name, shook his hand, and bid him goodbye. You made it maybe six steps before you turned back around, “Aaron!” You hollered, walking quickly to catch up to him. “I know this is bold and I don’t even know if you’re single, but you were very kind and I think you’re very good looking. Could I get your number maybe?”
Aaron meets you with a laugh. You’re wary, not knowing that a laugh from Aaron was extremely rare, and something a lot of people would kill to hear. Your nerves are eased when he says, “I’d love to give you my number.”
Day 16
The night was going wonderfully. Aaron was proving that chivalry was, in fact, not dead. Just lost in older men. He was comfortable meeting you at the restaurant, he pulled out your chair for you, ordered a bottle of the fancy wine the restaurant carried, and was currently sliding his credit card into the check holder.
The conversation between you two flowed beautifully all night, making it seem like time flew by. He signed the bottom of the receipt, leaving a very generous cash tip, and turned his attention towards you. “Ready to go?” Aaron asked, not wanting to rush you away. You gave him a shy nod, trying to figure out a way to say you want to see him again soon without sounding obsessed.
Aaron stood and you followed, interlocking your arm with his. You two walked out of the restaurant, only letting each other go when he held the door for you. “Which one’s yours?” He asked, wanting to walk you to your car. You held out the key, clicking the lock button to get it to light up.
Aaron walked you over, opening the driver’s side door for you. “Look at her!” You squealed, excited for him to see your car, “Fresh out of the shop!” Aaron laughed at your excitement. Once you were comfortable in your seat and buckled up, Aaron went to speak again.
“I had fun,” He smiled at you. “I did, too.” You replied. “Would you like to do it again, sometime?” He asked, fumbling over his word a bit. You couldn’t help but find the way you made him nervous adorable.
“I would love to, whenever you’re free.” He’d told you about how hectic his work life could get, which you understood. “I’ll call you.” He promised, getting ready to close the door. “Goodnight, Aaron.” He gave you once last smile, repeated your sentiment, and closed the door for you.
Day 102
“Why’d you pick him?” Aaron’s son, Jack asked. “Jack!” Aaron laughed, loading up spaghetti noodles on his plate.
It’s your first time meeting Jack. You were both scared and excited, not knowing how he would react to Aaron bringing home a new girlfriend. “He protected me the first time I met him, I felt like I owed him.” You joked as Aaron passed you the pasta. You smiled when Jack let out a loud laugh.
Dinner continued like this, with teasing and laughter. You felt incredibly welcomed in the Hotchner household, loving the energy both of the boys created. You fit like a missing puzzle piece, being able to help Jack team up on his dad, and be there when Aaron was feigning sadness at one his jokes. Plus, both of them were happy to have a home cooked meal for the first time in about a week. Jack even said you could come over whenever you wanted, as long as you cooked.
“I think he likes you,” Aaron said as he climbed into bed next to you, later that night. “I think so, too. We laughed a lot.” Aaron nodded, moving over to press a kiss to the side of your head.
“Welcome to the family,” He muttered as he wiggled down into the blankets, falling asleep quickly.
Day 1534
“I do.” You said as you slid the ring onto Aaron’s finger, missing the first time due the tears welling up in your eyes.
Everyone seated for the ceremony cheered as the pastor said, “You may kiss the bride!” Aaron pulled you in by your waist, pressing himself as close as possible to you. The kiss was appropriate, considering there was a crowd watching, but full of love.
After you pulled away, you moved yourself behind Aaron, pulling his best man in for a big hug. Jack smiled against your neck, squeezing you tight. You grabbed one his hands, and one of Aaron, walking back down the aisle with both of them by your side.
“Mr., Mr., and Mrs. Hotchner,” Jessica smiled, introducing you three to the reception. You were ready to dance and celebrate with the people you loved most in the world. And you were so excited to share their last name.
Day 12152
You had always hoped it would be you to pass first. Something easy for Aaron, Jack, and his children to handle. Passing away in your sleep, peacefully and free of pain.
But, wishes are rarely granted. You were sat next to Aaron when he passed. As hard as his battle with illness had been, he fought as best he could. You knew he’d spent his whole life fighting, so you, as sad as you were, you relieved to know he was somewhere safe and relaxing. Somewhere where there was no fight to be had.
He would be surrounded by people he loved, more than he had around him in his old age now.
Jack held you tight at the funeral, knowing you were heartbroken. Part of him was relieved too. His father was no longer in pain. When he knelt at his dad’s casket, he made one last promise to look over you. To take care of you, to love you, and to protect you, just as Aaron had done since the day he met you.
You weren’t too worried about it, though. You knew you’d join him when the time was right, and he would be waiting for you. You two were meant to be, even if you’d met late in life. No matter how long it took, or where you guys were, you and Aaron would find each other.

Summary: Once Bucky regained consciousness and was no longer the Winter Soldier, all he missed from the 40s was his wife. But maybe she's closer than he thought.
Warnings: English is NOT my first language, so I'm sorry if there are too many errors. A little bit of angst, Rape, memory loss, betrayal, trauma, Insecurities. And the best part: Thanos doesn't exist here

“Even if we'd met on a crowded street
in 1944
And you were headed off to fight in
the war
You still would've been mine, we would
have been timeless
I would've read your love letters every
single night
And prayed to God you'd be coming home
all right
And you would've been fine, we would
have been timeless.
‘Cause I believe that we were supposed
to find this”
~ Timeless (Taylor's Version)
You and Natasha arrived at the medical wing, the last time you had been here was when you woke up to the doctors and Tony doing tests.
You hadn't been able to pay that much attention to your surroundings, but now you were hiding behind Natasha as she walked towards the room.
She went in first, talking to Bucky and asking details about the mission and how they got hurt, you continued behind her until she took two steps to the side, finally allowing Bucky to see you.
He seemed very surprised to see you there, opening his mouth to say something but not being able to produce a sound.
“Hi” you said shyly, thinking it would be up to you to break the silence.
“Hi” He said with a smile “What are you doing here?”
“She wanted to see you” Natasha said, hiding her smirk from you.
“Well I..." you stuttered nervously, Bucky smiled at how cute you looked nervous "I... It's not... I just... I was worried" you pointed to his human arm, which was where, you noticed, he got hurt.
“Were you worried about me?” he said pretentious “No need to stutter, thank you, doll”
You froze at the nickname, realizing no one had ever called you that before but with Bucky it felt so right.
He noticed how disconcerted you were and only then did he understand what he said.
He panicked, it was so natural to call you like that, he didn't realize that it wasn't anymore.
“I meant... I...” He stuttered, having no idea what to do to fix the situation, and what if you got scared and moved away from him.
“Who’s stuttering now, huh?” You joked, looking away and biting your bottom lip to hide your rosy cheeks.
He looked at you confused, weren't you surprised? You wouldn't be scared by the nickname and move away?
It seemed not.
Then he smiled at you, still a little embarrassed, but hope seemed to shine in his heart in a way it hadn't in a long time.
Natasha had a hand over her mouth almost in shock at the way Bucky seemed to have suddenly become a teenager, stuttering and flirting, that was definitely not the Bucky she knew.
That made her smile, it wasn't the Bucky she met at the compound, but it was the Bucky you met back in the 40s.
A week passed after Bucky was injured on the mission, and Steve and Natasha were currently sitting at the breakfast table, watching Bucky eating with a smile on his face, wishing good morning to anyone who passed him.
“I think he’s sick” Steve whispered to the redhead
“Lovesick” Natasha whispered back, which made them both contain a laugh.
“Oh my God” Steve put a hand over his mouth in shock. “In 90 years I have never seen Bucky Barnes wake up in a good mood.”
“90?” Natasha said with doubt “He looks like he just turned 15 and is having his first girlfriend”
Tony arrived in the kitchen passing Bucky who happily looked at him and said “Good morning, Tony!”
Tony looked at Bucky with an expression of true fear, quickly moving away and heading towards Steve and Natasha.
"He is sick?" Tony said with a terrified expression.
Steve and Natasha looked at each other before turning to Tony and saying together:
“Love Sick”
It's been like this for the last week, Bucky started spending more time with you, and consequently Bucky seemed to be constantly in his own pink world, no one had seen him this happy in a while.
Despite that, what was still killing him inside was the fact that even after a week here you still didn't remember anything.
He was losing hope that you would remember, but he didn't care about winning you over again, he didn't care about marrying you again, he would do all this dozens of times if it meant he would have you.
He was spending the rest of his hopes on the plans he had set up for today.
“Good morning” you said as you arrived in the kitchen and sat down next to Steve, extending your hand to take a toast that was on the plate when Tony patted your hand.
“This is mine, Little Princess” He said, taking the toast and putting it in his mouth.
You smiled with furrowed eyebrows. “What’s the difference between this one and all the others?”
“I wanted this one, so I got this one” Natasha and Steve laughed. “Earn your seat before choosing the toast”
You laughed, crossing your arms.
“Since you are the voice of wisdom in the kitchen, reveal to me what toast I can get with my insignificance”
He looked at you surprised by your answer, you knew how to suck up, he was starting to like you.
“Y/n don’t do this, If there's anyone sucking up to Tony he's going to get even more arrogant” Natasha said taking your hand.
“I’m just earning my place”
Bucky joined everyone who was laughing at the situation, sitting next to you.
“Good morning” he said, looking at you with affection.
It was still weird to you the way it felt like you had known each other your whole life even after just 8 days together.
But what could you do? You've never felt so comfortable with someone before.
“Good morning, Buck” You felt it was unnatural the way the compound made you feel at home.
“I have a surprise for you” He said, finishing eating and guiding you to your room. “There’s a dress in the wardrobe, I’m going to take you somewhere”
Here begin their last attempts to make you remember.
You went to the wardrobe finding a very beautiful dress, simple and beautiful, you seemed to have seen it somewhere before, but you didn't really know where.
You dressed feeling weird, in the week you were here you only wore hoodies similar to the ones you wore on the first day.
You put it on and decided that you would look better with your hair up, after taking a look in the bathroom mirror, you spent a moment trying to memorize how you looked, it was such a weird sensation that it felt like you were a spectator looking at you in the third person.
Weird, Weird, Weird, it was all Weird, you were tired of using that word for everything this last week.
It was weird having lunch with Bucky, it was weird watching movies with Steve, it was weird going to sleep with music.
You needed to find another word, "weird" was already losing its meaning in your mind.
It was like... It was like...
You sighed, giving up for now, but you would find a word.
You left the room going to the living room that faced the kitchen, Steve, Natasha and Bruce were sitting there.
As soon as Steve laid eyes on you he choked on his own saliva, Natasha patting him as she looked at you with a surprised look.
“Look at her so pretty, where are you going?”
You opened your mouth to respond and then you realized: you didn't know, Bucky hadn't told you anything.
“It’s a surprise, I’m going to take her somewhere” Bucky appeared in the room, placing a hand on your shoulder.“Have a nice ride” Bruce said friendly.
"Yeah, enjoy” Natasha said, patting Steve more.
“Thank you” Bucky said leading you out of the compound, only when you left Steve took a breath.
“What was that, captain?” Natasha said “I thought your hundred years were beginning to take you to the higher plane.
“That dress” Steve said, still a little breathless “It was the dress she wore when Bucky proposed to her”
Natasha opened her mouth in shock. “How did he get a similar dress?”
“Persistence” Bruce said, getting both of their attention “He’s determined to make her remember”
You smiled as the air hit your face and messed up your ponytail, it was the first time you had seen the city in a long time, And it was the first time you had ever been to a city without any mission to kill someone.
Bucky looked at you smiling, You were so beautiful that he fought every instinct to put a hand on your cheek.
"Where are we going?" you turned to him “I think we’ve been in the car for more than twenty minutes”
“I told you it’s a surprise” He said, after a few minutes you noticed a sign approaching.
‘Welcome to Brooklyn’
“Brooklyn?” You said with a smile “It’s my first time in Brooklyn”
Weird, that sentence didn't seem right.
“Weird” again???? What was the other word you were going to use anyway?
Bucky's smile faltered for a moment after you said that, it was quick, if you had blinked you wouldn't have seen it, but you did.
“Yeah, well... I like it here” He said looking into your eyes “It reminds me of home”
Weird, it felt like home to you too.
Agh, someone remove weird from your vocabulary.
When you noticed you were in front of a hospital. Wait, a hospital? Was this Bucky’s idea of “Surprise”?
"A... hospital?" You said, watching the nurses for too long.
It felt right, but you refused to say the word “Weird” again.
“The best place to park is out front” Bucky lied, he wanted to start where you started. "Let's walk"
The two of you walked for a short time, but everything seemed to be hitting you in the gut, the buildings, the streets, even the stores.
Bucky stopped when you arrived at a square, it wasn't that busy but there were still a lot of children and their parents.
Bucky looked at you, searching for any trace of memory on your face, you guys used to come here sometimes on Fridays before lunch, where you would look at the children playing after they got out of school and planned the future, planned children, you would have three children, two boys and a girl because you always dreamed of brothers Michael and Steve protecting the little Olivia.
You looked at the children, smiling with the desperate parents with the naughty children.
“Ah, I always wanted to have children” You said looking around. “Thanks to Hydra this is no longer biologically possible” You saddened, Bucky broke down.
“They… They…” Bucky couldn’t finish the sentence.
“I was kind of a toy, they took out my uterus for safety” You said, looking at Bucky with a smile to prevent him from falling to the ground right then and there “But I'm fine, thanks to you, You are my “Avengers” heroes, thank you for getting me out of there”
He still looked inconsolable, looking at you as if his puppy had died. You didn't want to ruin your day.
“Come on, what do you have planned?” You shook him, trying to make him forget.
He shook his head, seeming to remember his intentions from earlier in the day.
“That one there is the best ice cream ever” He said, pointing to an ice cream cart in the square.
“I can’t wait to try it”
Bucky smiled weakly, you used to prefer desserts before lunch, he always thought that was strange, but according to you it was the fun of being able to be a happy adult.
You went to the old man who was taking care of the ice cream cart.
You stared at the yellow car trying to remember where you recognized it from, but you were unsuccessful despite it sticking in your head.
“A cone of chocolate ice cream, please” Bucky asked, handing the money to the man.
The little old man handed you the cone, looking into your eyes as if he were an old friend, you smiled back, feeling something in your stomach twist.
Bucky guided you to another place, but you continued to stare at the old man, the weirdest thing was that he also kept looking at you and smiling as if he knew exactly what was happening.
You and Bucky sat on a bench near the toys and the noise of the children made you pay attention to the present again.
You tasted the ice cream, feeling astonished when the taste seemed so familiar to you.
You stopped, looking at the ice cream as if trying to figure out if there was some kind of pixie dust in it.
You looked at Bucky
“In fact, it’s the best ice cream I’ve ever had”
He smiled at you, waiting for something more, something like “Oh my God, I remembered all the times we ate ice cream before lunch because I looked like a spoiled child!”
But nothing like that came out of your mouth.
“What do you say we have lunch now?” He asked, the idea seemed quite pleasant to you, so he took you to a nearby restaurant.
As soon as you entered, you felt the atmosphere change, the restaurant smelled like home on Sundays with the family, homemade food, barbecue, children running around the house.
You never had any of this, no family on Sunday, so why did it all feel so strangely right?
Bucky seemed to notice that you felt the atmosphere of the place intensely. “It’s a good place, right?”
You looked around, your eyes seemed to shine and you felt like crying, stupid, why would you cry?
You placed a hand on your chest, walking through the restaurant and watching the customers sitting there with their families, children laughing, the sound of forks meeting plates, and a little melody in the background, God it made you want to cry like a child, And you couldn't find any plausible reason to be so emotional about a normal everyday scene.
Bucky walked behind you hopefully, his eyes almost begging you to remember all the moments you built here.
“How does it feel knowing this is your last day as a single woman?” Bucky held his hand, with a huge smile on his face.
You smiled, looking around the restaurant. “tomorrow I’ll be a married woman” You sighed at the title “Who knew, when I saw you the first time I was sure you weren’t a man who would marry one day”
“And I wasn’t” He laughed “I never was, until I met you” He observed every detail of your face. “I still don't know if I'm going to do this right, but it's not about being a man to marry, it's about knowing that I'll never be able to spend a moment of my life away from you"
He meant every one of those words, It hurt like hell every second he spent away from you after he had redoubled old Bucky's consciousness.
As soon as he left Wakanda, he and Steve went in search of any trace of you, Hydra had taken everything, even photos of your funeral, he spent a long time believing that you had died of cancer many years ago, never having married after him.
This left him inconsolable many times a day, you never having married again, never having had children, never having sought happiness after him.
And now he was here, willing to wait for your love regardless of how long it took for you to love him again.
“Lets sit?" He asked, and you seemed to snap out of your trance, looking at him and nodding.
You sat at a beautiful table that overlooked the entire square you were in before.
Bucky asked if you wanted to choose, but you didn't know exactly what to order so you left it up to him to choose.
You smiled in surprise when a combo with a burger and fries arrived at your table.
You grabbed a fry, putting it in your mouth and letting out a sigh at how good it was.
“This is really good, I don’t think I’ve ever had something this delicious before.” So you picked up the burger to take a bite and as soon as the flavor hit your mouth, your brain felt like a building on fire.
You let go of the burger, pressing your temple as it hurt more, the more it hurt, the more laughter you heard.
That's when you realized the laughter wasn't coming from the people in the restaurant, it was coming from your head.
“I’m always head over heels for you, Doll.”
“Are you okay, Y/n?”
You no longer knew what was really happening and what were voices in your head.
Then, just as it started, it suddenly dissipated.
“Y/n what is wrong?” Bucky asked once again, you looked at him and saw concern in his eyes.
“My head... It started to hurt like my brain was being roasted.” You placed your hand over your forehead “I started hearing things”
"What kind of things?" He asked, still worried, what if it was some side effect of something Hydra did to you?
You looked at him, how would you explain that you suddenly remembered hearing his voice somewhere?
“Things” you said bluntly, removing your hand from your forehead, Suddenly Bucky was laughing. “What's the fun?" You asked confused.
“You just got sauce on your forehead” he took a napkin and wiped your face, you laughed weakly, going back to eating your burger. “When you're done eating, let's go back to the compound, okay? I’m worried about your headache.”
You nodded and took another bite of the burger, this time the taste didn't hurt your brain, The taste was comforting, the way it seemed so familiar was weird.
Not weird, but... Ah, you haven't decided on a word yet.
You finished eating and Bucky left to pay the bill, so you were left wondering what could explain why you heard Bucky's voice in the middle of that chaos, what if Natasha was right? Did you know each other?
"Let's go?" Bucky's voice broke you out of your thoughts.
You walked calmly to the car, Bucky made a funny comment every now and then, and then you fell into a comfortable silence.
When you were near the hospital, Bucky took his keys out of his pocket and with them his wallet fell out.
He didn’t seem to notice so you bent down to pick it up “Buc...” the name died in your mouth when you took a look.
Your knees weakened and everything inside you felt like it was burning now.
There was a photo, a beautiful couple, it didn't seem so shocking until you realized it was Bucky
And you.
The breath left you when you took a look at the image, you were wearing a wedding dress and holding a bouquet of lilies, Bucky was in his suit and kept his eyes on you the whole time.
You stood up, feeling dizzy from the impact that photo had on you, were you married? No, it's impossible, you met 7 days ago, how could you be married?
Bucky turned back only to see your indignant face holding his wallet, he panicked very quickly.
“Y/n... Listen...” He tried to get closer but you took two steps back, dropping your wallet as everything in your body burned just like in the restaurant
"Who are you?" You almost screamed, but your voice didn't come out, tears falling from your face as you felt more headache.
“Come on, doll...” He said, and you remembered his voice that you heard from the restaurant, calling you doll.
“I’m always head over heels for you, doll.”
“Stop!" You placed your hand over your temples in an attempt to calm it all.
“What’s going on, Y/n? What’s wrong? let me help you please!” He begged, but his mind felt like it was starting to go blank, as if several light bulbs were flickering on and off.
“I promise to be true to you, in joy and in sadness, in sickness and in health; I will love you and honour you all the days of my life"
You smiled with tears in your eyes.
"You can kiss the bride"
You looked at Bucky as the memories made you more confused, God! it was driving you crazy, you had two people in conflict inside your head fighting for position.
That's when Bucky approached, holding you by the elbows, As soon as he touched you a key seemed to turn in your head.
It felt like someone had taken glass from your eyes.
Everything seemed to make sense.
Your heart seemed to make sense.
“Bucky” you whispered, tears streaming down your eyes, you raised your hands to touch his face, gently running your fingertips over the marks on his face.
He smiled “Yes, doll, Bucky” then he spent more time watching your face, he started to get rigid as soon as he noticed your gaze changed.
It wasn't Y/n from Hydra
It was his y/n.
His wife.
As soon as he realized this, he desperately placed a hand on your cheek, feeling you, feeling the heat of your skin, feeling your labored breathing.
“You’re alive” You said weakly, but before you could hear his response the headache overcame you, your vision became blurred.
Strong arms held you and you knew you were home.
It wasn't weird, it was... it was...

Taylor Swift x Elriel
Just a (pared down, believe it or not) collection of my favorite Taylor Swift lyrics that remind me of Elriel. I have a whole collection and I'm not ashamed.
Timeless
That's when I came upon a book covered in cobwebs Story of a romance torn apart by fate Hundreds of years ago, they fell in love, like we did And I'd die for you in the same way if I first saw your face
In the 1500s off in a foreign land And I was forced to marry another man You still would've been mine We would have been timeless I would've read your love letters every single night And run away and left it all behind You still would've been mine We would've been timeless 'Cause I believe that we were supposed to find this So, even in a different life, you still would've been mine We would've been timeless
Untouchable
Untouchable, burning brighter than the sun And when you're close, I feel like coming undone
In the middle of the night, when I'm in this dream It's like a million little stars spelling out your name You gotta come on, come on Say that we'll be together Come on, come on Little taste of heaven
Cruel Summer
And I snuck in through the garden gate Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh) And I screamed for whatever it's worth "I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
Sweet Nothing
They said the end is coming Everyone's up to something I find myself running home to your sweet nothings Outside, they're push and shoving You're in the kitchen humming All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing
Paper Rings
I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings Uh-huh, that's right Darling, you're the one I want, and I hate accidents, except when we went from friends to this Uh-huh, that's right Darling, you're the one I want
I Can See You
You brush past me in the hallway And you don't think I, I, I can see ya, do ya? I've been watchin' you for ages And I spend my time tryin' not to feel it
But what would you do if I went to touch you now? What would you do if they never found us out? What would you do if we never made a sound?
'Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me And I could see you up against the wall with me And what would you do, baby, if you only knew? That I can see you
Ivy
How's one to know? I'd live and die for moments that we stole On begged and borrowed time So tell me to run Or dare to sit and watch what we'll become And drink my husband's wine
Oh, goddamn My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand Taking mine, but it's been promised to another Oh, I can't Stop you putting roots in my dreamland My house of stone, your ivy grows And now I'm covered in you
Let me know if you have any adds!

The next portal takes them not to another Hyrule, but across the map. Wild steps out into swirling mist and the echo of laughter. He turns to grin at the others, only to pause.
“Hey, where are the others?”
The only ones there are Twilight, Legend, and Warriors.
The captain looks around and groans. “Why can’t Hylia send working portals? We’ll have to find the others. Hey, cook, do you know where we are?”
“I do.” Wild grins as he reaches out to the magic of the forest. “We’re in the Lost Woods.”
“Great. And I’m sure everyone else will be just peachy on their own. Is there anything dangerous here?”
With a shrug, Wild waves for them to follow him. “We’ll be fine. Come on, I’ll take us to the center. If the others aren’t there I’ll go look for him.”
“I could track them as Wolfie?”
“No, the forest will turn you around. Better to keep everyone in one spot.”
The hum of magic is familiar and Wild loosens further, glancing at the others. They don’t react. Then again, these are the members he’s Claimed.
Timeless, sigh the trees around him. Ancient. Watching. The magic here is slow and soothing. The champion hums to himself as he walks. It will be nice to see Hestu again. And the Great Deku Tree! Would the others be able to see the koroks?
Following the hidden lines of magic, Wild turns first right, then left. A few more steps and he doubles back, then cuts to the side.
Legend sighs behind him. “Is this really necessary? How do you know where we are going?”
“I can just…feel the path. It’s fine, I navigate the forest like this all the time.”
“We’re going to cross the whole thing three times before we make it to the center.”
Wild gives him a grin that’s more like a baring of teeth. “Why don’t you pick a direction and find out what happens?”
He gets a considering look. “Am I going to be snatched off a path? Plunged down a hole? Eaten? Entranced?”
With a laugh, Wild gives him a little push. “I’ll keep you safe. See what happens.”
The vet isn’t appeased but pulls out a compass. The needle spins wildly. He tries checking the sky and trees, but that doesn’t help in the forest. Finally, with a shrug, he steps confidently into the mist.
It only takes a few steps for the magic of the forest to go on alert. Intruder! Danger! The laughter grows louder and the mist swirls closer.
Legend bats at the air, sending it swirling in little eddies. “Wild? Is this normal?”
“Yep! Keep going! I think you almost made it!”
He turns around with a glare, hands on his hips. “You’re a little shit, you know that?”
Go away, go away! Says the magic. It reaches for Legend, curling in the beginning of a spell. Wild’s aura reaches back and touches the forest. Mine, it says, and the echo matches the shining not-cage of the Claim on Legend.
Warriors shines with it too, bright in the dimness of the trees, even though it’s not something Wild sees with his eyes.
The magic subsides and slips back into the normal rhythm in recognition. The mist thins and swirls, aimless.
Legend is still looking around; he can tell something has changed. “What was that?”
“The magic of the forest. It confuses people who don’t follow the path. Usually, the spell dumps them near an exit.”
“Why didn’t it take me?”
This time, Wild’s smile is satisfied. “Because you are Mine.”
Warriors claps a hand on Twilight’s shoulder, ignoring his frown. “As interesting as this exercise has been, any chance we can move on and find the others?”
With a nod, Wild turns back to the invisible path and leads them deeper into the forest.

‘Dear Lily,
Things have been less than exemplary here, I’m afraid. Peter has been practically breathing down my neck as of late… (I’ve just been told off for even writing that) …and I overheard mother and father talking yesterday. They’re going to force me into marriage.
I know I should be happy. This is my sole purpose as princess anyway, I should feel honored to have found a suitable prince to marry. Yet… I cannot help but to feel anything but. It feels like I am wasting my life away… why can I not find a man for myself? Why must I marry without falling in love?
I apologise for how short this letter has been. But it is becoming rather difficult to keep Peter from reading over my shoulder and quite frankly, I do not wish to succumb to another one of mother and father’s rants. Peter is such a sneak.
 With all my love,
                                 The Princess’
The princess sighed as she signed off her letter, narrowing her eyes up at Peter where he stood, an incredulous look upon his face as she rolled the parchment, tying it with a red, silky ribbon. “You don’t have to give me that look, Peter,” she said, fixing up the bow she had tied. “The letter is between me and Princess Lily, you don’t need to be such a snoop.”
Peter hissed, watching the princess as she rose from the desk, dusting off the skirt of her gown. “You understand that it is my job to keep you in line?” He scoffed, following close behind her heels as she walked up the steps of the Owlery, catching sight of her beloved owl, Athena. “Your mother will be very displeased if she were to know the contents of that letter.”
Her eyes rolled in their sockets as she soothed her fingers on Athena’s mottled brown and white head, a satisfied hoot slipping from her beak. “Which is why I trust that mother won’t hear of this,” she said, her lips curved in a cheeky grin as she tied the parchment to Athena’s claw. “Deliver this to Lily, would you, Thena?” She cooed at the owl, the creature giving her knuckle a tender nip before she outstretched her wings, pushing her body off of her perch, soaring out the window and into the night. The princess sighed as she watched the owl take flight, an envious burn in her heart.
“You’re lucky I am feeling extra generous today,” Peter replied and she huffed, turning back around to face him. “‘Extra generous?’” She chuckled as she pushed past him, holding onto her skirt as she made her way back down the steps of the Owlery. “Since when were you capable of being generous?”
With a smile, she turned her head around to peer over at Peter just in time to watch his eyes roll in their sockets. “You jest, my princess. Perhaps I’d laugh if it weren’t damn near midnight. You should be in bed, may I remind you.” She sighed as she pushed her way out of the Owlery, Peter following close behind like a shadow. “Don’t get your knickers in a twist, Peter, I’m going,” she giggled as they made their way through the garden and back into the castle, stepping inside one of its many hallways.
“My knickers are not in a tw–”
“Goodnight Peter! I cannot wait until the morning where you will chastise me again,” she smiled and waved at the Royal Advisor behind her, lifting her gown as she made her way up the staircase. She could hear Peter scoff behind her, her lips still curled into a soft smile as she made her way through the corridor towards her quarters, yawning and rolling her neck as she smiled at the guard outside her room. With an indifferent expression, he pushed open the door for her, stepping aside to allow her to enter the bedroom.
The room was warm with the marmalade glow coming from the candle she had left lit earlier and she hummed at the sight of her handmaiden, Marlene, in the corner of the room, silent as she focused on the parchment in her lap. At the sound, Marlene snapped her head towards where the princess stood, pushing the parchment off to the side as she scrambled to her feet. “My princess! Let me grab your nightgown for you…” Marlene hurriedly stammered out, rushing to the closet to grab one of the princess’ many nightgowns, pulling a long, white lace one from the sea of many fabrics.
The princess’ lips twitched in an amused smile as Marlene practically sprinted back towards her, presenting the gown for her to take. “Marlene, what have I told you?” The princess chuckled, graciously taking the nightgown from her handmaiden’s hands. “You can relax when you are with me. You make me seem like one of those stuck-up, snobby princesses that care very little for others’ wellbeing. It is almost insulting.”
Marlene’s rosy cheeks flushed and she bowed her head, locking her shaking fingers before her. “M-my apologies, your highness,” she hardly managed to stutter out, earning yet another roll of the eyes from the princess. “Marlene,” the princess called her name again, reaching out with her hand towards the handmaiden’s chin, tilting it up until their eyes met once again. “Relax.”
Marlene’s chest heaved when she inhaled a deep breath, her muscles visibly relaxing at the sound of the princess’ soft, gentle voice. She exhaled as the princess’ lips grew in yet another warm grin, making her way around the dressing screen and making quick work of her dress. “Do you need help with your corset?” Marlene’s voice called over the screen just as she unlaced her own corset, her muscles aching in gratitude, her waist finally free of its confinement. “I’ve got it,” she sighed, tossing the corset until it hung over the top of the screen as she began to shimmy herself out of her dress.
“Princess,” Marlene’s voice called again and she hummed in reply as she tossed the dress over the screen as well, rolling up her nightgown until the head was visible. “The King and Queen requested you for brunch tomorrow. Apparently, Lord Sirius will be spending the day in the castle.”
Her lips twitched at the mention of Lord Sirius and she stepped out from behind the dressing screen as she soothed the nightgown down her body. “Thank you, Marlene,” she nodded her head. “May I request that I wear that midnight blue dress, you know, the one I wore the last time Lord Regulus came around?” Marlene’s face lit up in an almost knowing grin, although she tried to suppress it. “Trying to impress Lord Sirius?’ The handmaiden couldn’t help but giggle and the princess chuckled as well, shaking her head as she made her way towards her bed. “No, of course not,” she replied. “Lord Sirius is only a dear friend. And I like that dress. It is very comfortable– you did well on it.”
Marlene flushed and bowed her head, “thank you, princess,” she murmured shyly. The princess smiled as she tucked herself beneath the covers, gazing up at the dusty pink ceiling of her bedroom. “Is there anything else you’d like before you sleep?” Marlene inquired and the princess shook her head in response. “No thank you, Marlene,” she murmured softly. “Have a good night.”
 “Sweet dreams, princess.”
The princess blinked up at the ceiling as the marmalade glow faded when Marlene blew the candles out, the room slowly shrouding itself in darkness until she was gazing into a void of black. She listened to Marlene’s footsteps as she sauntered out of the bedroom and out of her quarters, leaving her alone in the room much too big for one woman.
Everything was still, the sky outside her window was black and frankly, she should have been asleep. Alas, her mind was reeling, a dark, swirling tempest of much-unappreciated thoughts. What was she to do about her impending marriage?
Call her a sap, call her a hopeless romantic— she wanted love. She didn’t want a prince of some far away kingdom, she didn’t want to be his shadow— she wanted to properly fall in love with someone, to marry someone on her own accord. She was still so young and still had so many years ahead of her, how could she be forced into wedlock!
The thought put a sour look on her face and she turned to her side, wedging an arm beneath her pillow to support her head. She gazed out her window at the night’s black sky, eyeing the twinkling stars illuminating it. This couldn’t happen, it just couldn’t— she’d find a way to be sure of it.

Remus howled in pain as he stumbled through the back door of Lord Sirius Black’s manor, his muscles aching and the contents of his stomach bubbling at the pit, threatening to spill from his chapped lips. He could hear footsteps somewhere on the other side of the mansion and he hoped to whomever it was watching down on them that it was his dear friend.
 “Remus?”
Remus growled as sweat beaded down the side of his face, crashing into the bookcase against the wall as he tried to regain his balance, chest heaving as a thread of saliva fell down in a string from his lips. He groaned as he blinked up at the figure approaching him, hardly able to make out the face in the darkness of the manor.
“Sirius,” Remus managed out, yelping at another particularly rough jab of pain in his abdomen, practically slamming his forehead down on the nearest shelf of the bookcase.
“Merlin, let’s get you upstairs,” Sirius muttered, grabbing a hold of one of Remus’ arms, tossing it over his shoulders as he used his other arm to hoist his friend off of the wall. Remus hissed through his teeth at the pain and squeezed his eyelids shut, throwing his head back as he tried to move his feet to aide Sirius.
Sirius grunted as they approached the stairs, practically dragging his friend up the steps, much to Remus’ displeasure. His belly lurched at a particular rough landing on one of the steps and he pursed his lips together, hoping the acid bubbling in his throat could be willed to stay down. Sirius grabbed a hold of Remus again and hoisted him forth, finally arriving on the second floor of the manor.
He rushed Remus into one of the empty spare bedrooms, practically tossing his dear friend on the mattress as he rushed for the waste bin he kept in here for this sole purpose, handing it to the man. Remus wasted no time in spilling the contents of his stomach, a sour, rotten odor Sirius had grown far too accustomed to to care about imbuing the bedroom.
Sirius found a washcloth and poured some cold water over it, sighing as he plopped down in the chair beside the bed, handing the cloth over to Remus once he was done vomiting. He fell back against the pillows on the bed, chapped lips agape as he tried to catch his breath, slapping the cold rag down on his entire face. He squeezed his eyelids together hard enough to see stars, feeling his heart drum against his chest.
“Sorry,” he managed out, his voice low and husky. Sirius rolled his eyes and scoffed from his bedside, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. “I think we’re well beyond an apology, my friend,” he chuckled. “Besides, you know I don’t mind.”
Remus huffed and coughed against the rag, furrowing his brow as he folded it to only lay on his forehead, pressing it down hard enough to let some of the water trickle down his skin. He sighed at the feeling of the cold water reaching his chapped lips, his tongue swiping between them just as Sirius pressed the rim of a bottle to his lips. Remus’ lids shot open and he peered over at Sirius before back down at the glass of water, practically ripping it from his friend’s grip as he chugged the entire thing down, hiccuping and wiping the little bit that had dribbled onto his chin before handing it back.
“Sorry if I woke you up,” Remus apologized, letting his head fall to the side to get a better look at Sirius in his night clothes. Sirius shook his head, setting the glass of water down against the nightstand, once again leaning back in his seat. “No matter, I was awake anyway,” he replied. “Was just figuring out what to wear for brunch at the castle tomorrow.”
Remus rolled his eyes at this— somehow, it always seemed to slip his mind that his best friend was rich, and a lord for that matter. “Right,” Remus muttered. “While I’m doing my best not to die, you’re rubbing elbows with royalty. Almost forgot.”
Sirius, too, rolled his eyes and snickered at this, “it’d do you well to remember that I’m the one making sure you’re not dying in this very moment. Wouldn’t want to jeopardize your position right now, would you?”
Remus scoffed, rolling his head to gaze back up at the ceiling. “Right,” he murmured. “Well, thanks for helping me out, mate. And don’t worry, I’ll be out of your hair come morning.”
“Now, wait a minute here, you’re not going to get rid of me that easily,” Sirius chuckled, leaning forward in his chair. Remus peeled a single eyelid open, glancing over to his friend. “The full moon’s not for another few weeks now, is it? And you’ve already got it this bad.”
“Two weeks, actually,” Remus sighed. “My symptoms seem to have gotten worse lately. Not even one of your million galleon beds takes away the pain.” Sirius pursed his lips, “not a million galleons, for one thing. Second, I thought you didn’t get this bad until the day before a transformation. Are you alright?”
Remus opened both his eyelids again, cocking an eyebrow towards his friend. “Really?” He scoffed. “Oh, I’m doing just fine and dandy here, thanks so much for asking.” Sirius’ chest puffed when he huffed, “I can throw you back out onto the street if you fancy.”
Remus huffed, easing himself further down into the mattress. “I’m better now,” he sighed. “Just… tired.” Sirius eyed his friend, Remus’ skin still slick with a layer of sweat but at the very least, he didn’t seem prone to hurl his dinner out at any given moment anymore. Sirius soothed his palms over his thighs before pushing off of his seat, fingernails scratching at his scalp. “Get some sleep,” Sirius said as he made his way towards the door. “Leave whenever you need to tomorrow. I’ll probably already be gone.”
Remus’ lips tugged into a smirk, “off rubbing elbows with the royal family?”
Sirius hissed and rolled his eyes in their sockets, “piss off.”
With that, Sirius closed the door behind him, leaving Remus all alone in one of the manor’s many bedrooms, blinking up into the black above where the ceiling would be. His muscles were sore and aching, the upcoming full moon lingering in the corner of his mind. How much longer would he have to bear this? How much must he suffer before he finally went numb? Before he felt nothing at all?
Remus sighed, letting his eyelids flutter closed, hoping sleep would overtake him soon. He was grateful for Sirius, for having at least a comfortable bed to sleep in, unlike his own bed at home that was no better than sleeping on pins and needles. Remus let himself fall deeper into mattress, slowly but surely feeling himself slip into the arms of a deep slumber…

When the letter came into the mailbox, underneath junk mail and scattered bills, sat the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School letter.
It made you cover your mouth and shake your head, as you hear Bradley throwing baseballs outside in the backyard. Giggles and laughing that peer from your daughter and her friend that came over.
It would have killed Bradley to know he had to leave once more. After a successful mission, Bradley told you what he had to do. The Navy was offering him the job as an instructor for the fleets. However, coincidentally, you had given birth and he was on paternity leave for those weeks, successfully missing the letters.
Now, there was no way to get out of it.
Walking over to Bradley, seeing him shirtless as he helps Nick get his pitching position correctly.
“Bradley,” You call, attempting to get just his attention. “Bradley!”
Bradley flips his view from Nick to you, eyebrows crossing together in worry. “Yeah, honey?”
“Can I talk to you? Privately.” Bradley nods and follows you into the house. You sit down at the couch and there sits the letter, as you burn your eyes at it. Bradley looks, understandably, worried as he sits next to you and lets his hand fall against yours. “I was looking through the mail today. And—and I saw this.” Picking up the letter and handing it to him, you cover your face and you see Bradley read the paper.
He opens it with his thumb and pulls out the folded paper. Bradley reads it and says the other part aloud. “...and in reasonable consideration, we will see you on the 1st day of September.”
Bradley drops the paper against the wooden coffee table. His hand goes to cover his mouth as he stares at the paper. “That’s tomorrow. The damn Navy decided to tell me this today, when I'm leaving tomorrow.” He can't look at you.
“We’ll get ice cream tonight, let the kids stay up, and we'll write you notes to look at. You'll be fine.” You scoot closer to your husband, hand holding onto his, and you lay your head against his shoulder.
“I know. It just really sucks. Six months away from my babies, you, my whole life is out here.” Bradley turns his head to look at you, eyes welling with dangerous tears that fall when be blinks.
“We’ll be fine. Everything will work out.” You comfort and you hug him. The gentle feeling of him as he wraps around you tightly.
The day comes at 11:30 in the morning. Bradley is standing there, holding his bag against his shoulder as he is practically crying. Nick holds on tightly to his dad's leg and Caroline is in his arms as she kisses his cheeks.
“I'll be home before you guys know it.” Bradley says to Caroline and Nick while he kisses her head softly. The warm San Diego air is pulling you back to your car and in the AC, but you can't leave Bradley for all that you pull. “Swear.”
“I’m gonna miss you. Don't get hooked on any bar girls. Still mine honey." You hear the sound of the plane starting and you hit his chest. “You come home to me you hear that?” You lay against him as he sets Caroline down. He pulls you into his arms and kisses you.
“Swear I'll come home to you. No bar girl is gonna take me away from you. You don't get stolen either honey.” You laugh with him and steal kisses from him. His lips envelop you as they begin to call any pilots to the ship. “I’ll see you honey." He grabs his stuff off the ground and he starts walking towards everyone.
“You come home to me, Bradshaw!”
“I will honey! Swear on my dead body I will.”
