Gfkshdjsh I’d like to think that after a number of weeks of Cloud dominance-posturing using Zack’s claws in front of Avalanche and nothing coming of it they would drop their guard a bit, like they might genuinely begin to internalise that it’s just a way of stimming for Cloud, might mistakenly believe that he’s not actually posing any power play but just genuinely plays around with his bf’s paws because it calms him down, and under that logic it’s kinda cute isn’t it? Like aww, Cloud must be overstimulated from the noise of the bar, Zack is so sweet to let him openly play with such an inhuman part of him despite how insecure about it he must be (he’s REALLY not), look at them go, awwww <3

meanwhile Zack is watching and Noticing the gradual slide in behaviour from 😱 to 😬 to 😐 to 🥺 to 🥹 and keeping it in mind… until someone says something he doesn’t like or that Cloud reacts negatively to, and then suddenly BAM his hands slam on the table/bar and his claws score deep scratches in the wood and in the sudden terrified silence he “politely” orders them to bite their fucking tongues or suffer their removal, and it’s all back to the start as everyone is reminded that those claws are, in fact, capable of killing them :)

Also unrelated but if Kunsel doesn’t come into the picture early I’d imagine that it’s actually Wedge who breaks the ice first between Avalanche and Zakkura :) something about him owning cats, making him notice how badly damaged Zack’s (still dangerous) claws are from the long trek and various battles and despite his fear he buckles up and offers to demonstrate proper claw care using some of his cats as examples, and Zack might not give a shit but Cloud sure does (this would be right up his alley in the “I can serve help him with this!” way) so he pays careful attention to how Wedge cares for his cats’ claws and slowly starts caring for Zack’s claws in the same way, and the small feeling of Usefulness it gives him has him ever so slightly happier which is what Zack (and only Zack lol) notices. Which makes Zack slightly happier, which leaves Cloud feeling more accomplished, which has him searching out other things to do for Zack, and when he goes to Wedge first for more advice, that’s when Zack decides Wedge maybe isn’t so bad. Maybe. He’s still not friendly towards him, but he tolerates his presence with slightly less bristling, as long as Cloud also sees no issue with it.

All this with the constant undercurrent of threat, of course, but Avalanche is quietly cheering Wedge on for being the first to gain a boost in survival chance with Zakkura :)

So... I forgot how graphic this chapter is. This chapter is the reason for the rating. *Shrugs repeatedly because I can't think of anything to say*

There's two new characters! If you follow my other fiction then you will know exactly who they are.

Luna Gomez - A short brunette with deep chocolate brown eyes. Barnard Graduate and heir apparent to the Luna Rum empire. But, she believes her father is too corrupt and has forsaken him to go her own way which is being a website designer. She looks like a socialite, she acts like a socialite, her mother is even a Real Housewife of New York, but she's one of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet.

Andrew Fredricks - Tall, midwestern Redhead from Ohio. He played quarterback for the Buckeyes! He's a corporate lawyer who really wanted to do pro bono work for the underprivileged. He just happens to work at Lodge and Associates with a certain other lawyer we know in this story. But he's the most golden retriever boyfriend you'll ever meet!

how i think asgzc handles being/behaves while sick

(except im actually projecting because im really sick and miserable and mildly (very) delirious)(also this was written mostly in the short period between like 30 min fever dream plagued naps… so its all over the place and don’t expect accurate characterization)

angeal: hes that one motherfucker that can have a high fever and will still insist on doing everything, he could be on his deathbed and still trying to do stuff and care for everyone else until everyone else literally forces him to stop and rest, and even then he will still try to downplay his illness and worry about everyone else

sephiroth: realistically he doesn’t get sick but like… we’re ignoring that… he’s absolutely pitiful but without even meaning to be, like he’s perfectly fine being alone and letting it run its course but he ends up just looking so pitiful that genesis and angeal can’t resist him, they won’t leave him alone and end up trying to comfort sephiroth in any way possible, and upon trying to cuddle him, sephiroth will immediately cling to them, betraying his original ability to be alright alone

genesis: gets super clingy and whiny and refuses to let sephiroth or angeal leave him alone, inevitably forcing them to get sick with him, and hes total crybaby the entire time, needing reassurance about everything he has ever done and will ever do because for some reason being really sick makes him reflect on himself which makes him emotional and regret everything he’s ever done and fear that he isn’t good enough for sephiroth and angeal, all the emotional baggage and insecurities come flooding out until he cries himself to sleep again, wakes up from the strangest fever dream, clings to whoever is closest and the cycle continues, only breaking every so often when he forces sephiroth and angeal to feed him or they force genesis to take medicine, all the necessities ect.

zack: whiny clingy and needy, will cling to cloud like his life depends on it and uses cloud as a living teddy bear, unable to be left alone because if anyone even mentions leaving him alone for a second he immediately starts looking like a kicked puppy and clings on even tighter, desperate to be comforted, and needs to be distracted often from the fact that he is sick or else he will complain about how shitty he feels 24/7, also he will throw a fit and refuse any medication like a child until angeal either shoves a pill down his throat like a dog or crushes it up and hides it in some kind of food… also like a dog… angeal basically has to employ every dog medicine giving tactic

cloud: tries to isolate and let the illness do its thing, not wanting to get anyone else sick, and also not really wanting anyone else to see him sick and think he’s weak because he thinks every little thing, including unavoidable things like getting sick, will make him seem weak, but zack refuses to leave him alone, trying to comfort cloud in any way possible, trying to tend to every single one of clouds needs and constantly makes sure cloud is okay, although cloud tries to push zack away because he doesn’t want zack to get sick, plus unfortunately zack can get a bit stressful and be a bit of a pain in the ass to handle at times

But also we need better writing for female characters bc a lot of these pieces of media have female characters in them, their goals and traumas just don't speak to me the same way. Also advocating for all characters always to be more Unhinged™ 😂
