Someone here asked (rhetorically) what is the difference between "clean eating" and "restricting" or "intermittent fasting" and "skipping meals" and this is it. THIS is the difference.
When you break your fast or exceed caloric limits, do you feel like complete shit and punish yourself by overexercising, fasting longer, purging/insert other type of self harm here, or just goes "oh well, that happens" and move on with your life?
People who do clean eating or intermittent fasting responsibly don't restrict under a healthy caloric deficit, don't restrict for more than 18 hours and compensate that with a very rich meal and don't do heavy exercise while fasting
Some aspects might be similar or even identical, but what separates those things is how you behave and act when something doesn't go as planned.
THIS is the difference between an ed and dieting
MY ANA RULES
(i do not promote eating disorders, this is just for me to look back on)
- no breakfast, small, low cal lunch and dinner only
- NO MORE than 700 cal per day
- one cheat day per week is okay, but never exceed 1,000 cals
- eat in moderation
- walk at least 5-10,000 steps per day
- don’t EVER eat until you’re full
- drink lots of water
- drink (black or minimum sugar/cream) coffee to curb appetite
- watch ED videos on youtube often to trigger yourself to stay on track
- time your fasts- try to beat your previous one by at least one hour (never go more than 72 hours without eating)
- take a sip of water between bites to fill up faster
- no sweets, fast food, fried food, or anything overly preserved or processed
- if you’re hungry, distract yourself- drink water, go for a walk, draw, etc.
- fast for 17+ hours everyday. (if you don’t eat past 6PM and don’t eat before 11AM, that’s 17 hours)
- no eating anything in secret. if you need to hide it, you don’t need to eat it
- look at thinspo every day
- if you get the urge to eat something you shouldn’t, throw it away without giving it a second thought, just throw it away. you don’t need it.
-  check weight every morning and log it
- TRY to burn at least half of the calories you intake every day
- at least one liquid fast for 24-48 hours every week
- if you HAVE to eat make it low calorie
- if you accidentally buy clothes that are too small, keep them. don’t exchange them for a bigger size. use them as inspiration to be smaller and use them as a milestone marker to see how far you’ve gotten to fitting them every week.
- don’t eat something if you don’t know the calorie amount
- done ever eat a food item that’s over 100 cal by itself. if its less than 100 calories (ex: a fun sized kitkat is 70cal) dont eat more than one or two
- keep an edited photo of yourself on your phone and look back at how good your (edited) skinny body looks before you dice to eat again (photoshop doesnt have to be perfect, as long as you get the point across.)
- try to limit carb intake, eat zero carbs if possible (an option to avoid carbs when eating out with friends to avoid suspicion is to just say you’re gluten free)
- always count calories and log it
- NO DAIRY OR PASTA
- never ever exceed the daily calorie limit unless on a special occasion (birthday, christmas, thanksgiving, etc) and dont ever exceed withing 500 calories of the daily calorie limit. since my calorie limit is 700 per day, i will not exceed 1200 cal on holidays.
