If you ask me, this above all else is the reason Bruce treated Stephanie the way he did. Stephanie's unassuming earnestness has a way of disarming people. She tends to worm her way into their hearts and coax them into opening up no matter how hard they resist just like she did with Cass and Damian. It's practically her superpower. Bruce spends a little time with her and finds himself trusting her with parts of himself he's never trusted anyone with before, he realizes she's got him lowering emotional walls he puts a lot of care into building between him and everyone around him and that, more than anything else, scares the shit out of him.

i think itd be fun if tim went through a phase shortly after darla or steph (?? idk timeline) and before bruce died where he swore up and down to his best friends (kon and bart) that he was DONE for GOOD with romance and that if love didnt find him by 40 he’d, he’d marry kon! and unbeknownst to kon he was excitedly awaiting that day until one day years later tim comes in to the tower gushing and blushing about his new boyfriend and kon has a sudden terrible realization

i know lots of people have probably talked about this before, but one thing that has been bothering me recently is how freely people use the term queerbaiting, when most times it's just queercoding or queer subtext.

queerbaiting is advertising somethin as queer, to attract audience, but there's actually no overt queer representation. but some people have taken to calling queerbaiting anything that's just not explicit told to the audience.

it feels like homophobes some people wont accept that characters are written as queer until the point where it is explicitly said by the character (and sometimes not even then). and on the opposite side of the spectrum, some people will call out any type of media for "queerbaiting" or for not having good representation, because they hint at things without just outright telling it.

it honestly feels like there's a lack of media literacy, because people just refuse to accept that some things can be shown and not told.

that being said i do acknowledge that queerbaiting can be a problem with media, and sometimes it comes hand in hand with, at least some level of queercoding, it just bugs me when people ignore how something is written a certain way, just because it's never "confirmed".

my favorite thing about navigating fanfiction is finding a really good one and being all “oh boy this was good, I hope they have more!” and literally every other story they’ve ever written was for like Miami Vice

I hate when I say things like "oh I want an ipod classic but with bluetooth so I can use wireless headphones" and some peanut comes in and replies with "so a smartphone with spotify?" No. I want a 160GB+ rectangular monstrosity where I can download every version of every song I want to it and it does nothing except play music and I don't need a data connection and don't have to pay a subscription to not have ads and don't have popups suggesting terrible AI playlists all over the menus.

Gimme the clicky wheel and song titles like "My Chemical Romance- The Black Parade- Blood (Bonus Track)- secret track- album rip- high quality"

one time, as a kid, I watched someone make an omelette. after stewing on the idea for a full day, I asked my mother how it worked, got a basic lesson, and then proceeded to spend the next three months in the omelette mines making 3-5 omelettes every single day (depending on how many of my siblings were left with any tolerance for eating them) until I felt I had really truly certainly gotten a grasp on the concept of the omelette

I then repeated this every time I learned a recipe, which is funny because I didn't even like cooking beyond a passing interest, I was just really interested in the idea of being able to max out the skill or something

as soon as I demonstrated mastery over something, I immediately dropped it and moved onto the next thing, and this was an understood pattern to the point where my siblings would try to prompt me into spending a period of fixation on whatever they wanted to eat at the time, and then they'd have several servings of it a day until they got sick of it and started to hate it

but them enjoying it wasn't really the goal. largely tangential. I mostly just wanted to get it down and then move on.
