Fair point. I know in some versions he quit and in some he was fired but the point I was trying to make is that he was ready to move on and become Nightwing, considering he took up the alias not long after.

I think it's important to note that it's likely that he'll change his hero name sometime soon. Because finally, finally, his boy is focusing on himself. He has his friends back and a boyfriend and with recent runs being more 'Wayne family adventures' style when it comes to the family's inner workings, Tim is finally in a stable (ish) situation where he can learn and grow like the other Robins did, and like we can see Damian doing now that he is giving up Robin (by his own choice!!) to become a doctor. We can already see this happening with his discovering his bisexuality and getting his first noticeable long term partner since Steph.

Personally I believe his name would become something like Rook or Drake (of course that is if he follows the bird theme). Rook seems to be a good idea as Rooks are particularly known for their cunning nature. It is a reference to the chess piece, which displays his strategic way of thinking. Also his preferred costume style looks vaguely like the sleek black lines of a rook. Drake I think he would like the irony of, as well as using it as a bit of a flaunt that he has hid his identity so well that he can use his own name without anyone knowing his identity (and we all know he likes a challenge). But also I believe the name could be a reference to the Middle English work meaning 'dragon' which would fit him well as dragons are often connoted to power, strength and wisdom.

Anyone who makes fun of Tim Drake's hero name does not understand the significance behind it. Because, the thing is, every Robin has given up that title willingly and adopted new names which defined them now that they no longer fit into the legacy of Robin (well maybe not Jason but we saw the violent backlash his death had, part of it coming from no longer being Robin and being 'replaced'). However Tim had it taken from him.

When each Robin gave up the title, they were signifying the end of their childhood, and the new people they had become. But Tim never had that, as he had the title taken away from him, so when he took on the Red Robin name, it wasn't a display of unoriginality or after the restaurant (as a popular theme to make fun of in fanfiction) but instead a show that he has not quite grown up properly yet, and is not quite changed enough since he became Robin.

Which really hurts when you remember that when he took on the name Red Robin, he had just lost so many important people to him (Kon, Bart, Bruce), felt he had no support system (as Dick gave Robin to Damian), was not believed by anyone that Bruce was alive (and with people suggesting he should get professional help) and went a little bit psycho for a while (with the whole trying to clone Kon thing). And while all of this was happening he felt it was his responsibility to rescue Bruce, despite the fact that he didn't even feel like an adult yet.

I feel it's also significant because it shows Tim's attachment to the role of Batman's sidekick, which is likely because it has been his whole life since he was a very little kid running around Gotham rooftops unsupervised. Which is just so tragically sad. And when he became Robin it became his job to take care of Bruce, which once Bruce 'died' and Tim was the only one to believe he was still alive, he felt it was his responsibility to bring Bruce back, as it was his job as his caretaker, showing that he couldn't let go of his role as Robin, despite having the actual title taken away from him.

You know all those fics where Damian hates all of his siblings partners, thinking them unworthy and all of that.

Well counter argument, Damian loves Roy.

I bet originally Roy's whole carefree attitude would have driven him insane. But then Dick tells a story about how angry he used to be as a kid and Damian can suddenly see the similarities in their personalities (or at least the younger version of Roy)

And then he finds out how skilled he is, that he's one of the few humans running with metas and aliens, and he understands how much effort that takes. Then he sees Roy messing around with some technology or something and realises that it's not only vigilantism that he's so good at.

I imagine Damian sees Roy on a mission, where a perfectly shot arrow flies through a criminal's (who definitely deserved it) skull. And suddenly he's looking up at the guy, because he's killed for good and doesn't regret it, a freedom Damian has never seen before.

What I think was really the final nail of the coffin was how Roy treats him. Because Roy might be angry and skilled and free but he's also a dad. So I imagine that Damian is visiting Jason while Roy is around, and upon seeing this angry preteen, Roy ruffles his hair and makes him a hot chocolate then asks him about his day. And Damian, whose parents consist of Talia (who loves her son but could not save him from his grandfather, who trained and raised him in a cult), Bruce (who is so emotionally constipated it's sad, who Damian still refers to as "Father" and not "Dad", who he hasn't known most of his life and what little he had known him for was taken over by training and time as robin (and we all know neither of those are a good way to build a relationship)) and Dick (who tried his hardest but he's overworked and exhausted and trying to parents kids who aren't even his) and I think Damian would have just melted.
