Imagine being in a state of ecstasy, constantly from start to finish, during a battle must be terrifying for Luffy's opponents

Imagine a dude GENUIENLY laughing, giggling and making fun of you in a battle where powers that destroy literal buildings are colliding and haki that would make an entire island worth of people pass out clashing

Luffy isn't taking anyone seriously, joking around and doing shit for fun.

It get so fucking scary when he gets serious. He's still smiling mind you. But he's got that dangeous glint in his eyes constantly now instead of random moments of it appearing.

Red eyes setting off the alarm bells in your head and his giggles probably sounding like hearing a child laughing in an abandoned forest while you're alone in there.

NOT TO MENTION THE FUCKING DRUMS. Just. Random ass drums start playing. You are in a fight that will probably destroy you. And there's fucking music randomly playing in the bg.

fuck luffy's gear 5 is pure awesomness

It's so joyful and full of laughs, but so incredibly creely at the same time, I feel like it encapsulates Luffy's entire self perfectly

He's a fun guy, serious when he deems it necessary of course. But there's just something about him being an unstoppable force whilst smiling and laughing all the way that makes others shiver in fear of what he could do.

His unnaturally wide smile, arms twisting and bending out of shape, red eery eyes that stare right into your soul, immense presence that would make a man cower in no time and strength that gives him his title as a Yonko

I love him so much.

I like to think that the crew just forgets that Zoro is a murderer, like he doesn't give a shit abt the lackeys or enemy pirates

Because to the crew, he's just a grumpy alcoholic swordsman that's also their reliable vice-captain.

And then they remember that he was a notorious pirate hunter in the East Blue, when they fight against enemy pirates. Chunks of people (arms, legs, organs) just laying on the ground as they fight and the crew has to avoid the different dead bodies and parts.

The long range fighters in the back just look to the front and see Zoro slicing and dicing people like Sanji cuts their food 😭

After the fights they throw Zoro into the bath so he cleans himself of all the blood and so they can get a breather and then everything is normal again!

Zoro still pats Choppers head and listens to Usopp, bickers with Sanji and gets nagged at by Nami

Sits next to Robin while she reads, Franky when he tinkers with his projects and Brook when he plays, Jinbei when he steers the ship during calm days

Lets Luffy jump all over and around him and talk his ear off, drag him all over the ship or nap with him

So... I managed to watch the first two episodes of OPLA!

And then i stopped, not because it's bad! But because i despise non-animated/live action stuff.. I HATE THAT I CAN'T WATCH OPLA AAAAAAAA I WANNA SEE THE STRAWHATS

Live-action gives me such like Uncanny valley feels, and I also feel everything the characters feel.. I saw the scene in Buggy's circus with the chained up villagers and immediately felt dread and almost yoted myself out the window cause I felt so horrible

Thank you! Luffy is a super interesting character and complex even with how.. how to put it, simple? he is.

He's both, it's amazing to see how Oda made Luffy. I do worry that sometimes i can't completely and correctly characterise Luffy, but i try anyway

He's straightforwards, simple, has ideals and dreams he follows until his death and never does what he doesn't want to do. He's someone who is truly free and has people around him bend so his whims, whether they know it or not.

He's hard headed and doesn't change his mind, like ever. I've never seen him be completely in the wrong, his innate senses just make him always be correct for some reason (unless im misremembering lol) It's a unique trait i'd say

His freedom influences everything and everyone, and his demeanor pushes anyone who sees him forward into their own journeys. A beam of hope and happiness in the dark that is their reality.

But his stubbness and his unwillingness to show weakness (unless absolutely unavoidable) is quite prominent. He's someone who accepts the truth as it is, knowing he won't bring the dead back to life and is able to process such heavy information in months. Some people take years to get over the deaths of loved ones, yet you see this 19-year old process it in a tiny amount of time

He doesn't even talk about it to his crewmates

He's someone who has had people around him affected by their heritage, background or past so prominently that they escape from their lavish home into a jungle or angrily lash out at the name of their dad. Luffy knows, so he doesn't ask, not Ace, not Sabo, not his grandpa and not his crew. After all, living in the present is the best and bringing up the past won't change much.

He's someone who experienced being alone for years, until he met his brothers. He felt so isolated and lonely, the thirst for love being quenched for a bit by Shanks. After that though he got brothers. And they loved him and he loved them. Then Sabo died.

They weren't alone but it felt empty. Luffy experienced loss early, he knows what it's like. The empty space of the deceased person makes you feel even lonelier than if they just left on their own two feet. He and Ace cheered each other up.

Of course in Luffy's mind, all of this is simply thought and let go of. He now knows that he doesn't care for the past much. The past would stop him from living in the present and using the skills he learned then to do something in the present is possible without sinking into the memories. There's no need to complicate life. Death will come for you, early or late, so why not have fun and eat and sleep and fight while you can?

Zolu is Zolu

Even when separated they are both not completely normal, following their passions without a care for much else and their determination unvavering even when faced with death

Zoro fights and fights, doesn't stop battling and protecting what's his, never wavers and is resolute. He has his values set and stays himself even in the worst of situations, a pillar standing strong even in the worst of wars

Luffy is also resolute, but goes about his days without a care for complicated matters, choosing to free anyone in need of freedon and feed anyone who's hungry. His carefree nature and simple-mindedness keeps anyome around hooked and interested

Together they are a two man army, capable of advancing forward like no others. Knowing that they have each others backs, no matter the situation or place. Their innate senses adapted to each others presence in mind boggling ways, truly something rare in nature

Even outside of battle the bond they have stays, leaving the other crew members wondering if they've known each other for years, about how they met. Surely such a thing wouldn't happen in a day?

The partnership the captain and the first-mate share is frankly bizzare, even amongst the strawhats - people notorious for being weird

I've been thinking abt Luffy, which isn't unusual ofc, but the way Gear 5 is i feel like a theme of eldrich horror would suit him haha

Being too much for his own body so he keeps bending and twisting and moulding into a more suitable shape. His laugh is too loud and his smile is too wide and his arms and legs stretch too much and everything is too funny and he can't keep still and everything looks so interesting and like a playground rather then a battlefeild, he can't stop looking at everything from the new perspective

Just like an enigma, absolutely not normal in any way, unlimited by logic now, uncaring of the natural laws of nature

Like he IS the unknown now, gods should be an incomprihensible being imo (ofc Luffy isn't a god just has a devil fruit named after one, but when they're so similar in personality well... he takes after the god at least a bit hehe)

Wanna know some things abt Gear 5?

When Luffy first awakened it, and you can see it in the animations, his heart-beat was so strong it could be heard by others and it made him wobble around like a drunk. For a bit he got tossesd side to side and front to back because of it

He also wobbled a lot because his body became more maluable. He was already used to a stretchy but firm body, whereas now, it is quite maluable and very easily bends. He can also make the ground bouncy so when he awakened, he couldn't keep steady because the ground suddenly became a bouncy house

His haki is now quite a lot stronger, thanks to the presence of "nika", it's still all his ofc

Luffy looks so round because his joints are now basically for nothing during gear 5. His body can bend however now so they really don't matter

Zoro would've woken up if he wasn't having a meeting with death itself at that moment. We all know Zoro and his loyalty, but i bet that Luffys haki had a bit of an impact on Zoro and getting him fight to stay alive

(Could be considered canon cause it fits but it's not actually confirmed canon,... i think)

I don't think they'd like come together one day and confess their feelings, or ask each other to be boyfriends or something like that

They're soulmates and it's enough for them, they don't need any labels or anything

They didn't ask anything either, everything just happens. They are people that communicate through their actions

If Luffy wants to hug, they will hug

If Zoro wants to get a drink together, they'll get a drink together

If they put on rings they fished out of the sea one day, and Luffy says they're married, then they're married

They don't need to say anything, their actions speak for them. It just happens no need for complicated words or feelings

Oh how wrong they are. Only Dominique and Jeanne know why he truly has all those wounds and it hurts them more then anything.

Those are wounds he inflicted onto himself. He bites himself every day. Every day without ever forgetting to do so, he bites and bites and bites, to not forget Vanitas. The memories flow from his bloodstream into his brain and for a moment, it's like Vanitas never left. It's like Noé never killed him, never saw him die and never became free.
