Part Eleven

“I just wanted to thank you.” Harry spoke quietly even though they were completely alone into the library, everyone else was having dinner into the Great Hall.

Draco slowly shook his head as to tell him not to worry, that he was doing it more for himself than for them actually.

“About…what happened…in the astronomy tower…” Harry’s cheek flushed to a bright pink color.

“I’m sorry, I really don’t know why I kissed you.” He said as he fidgeted with his fingers, looking down at his own shoes.

He didn’t even know why he had brought up their kiss again, he had told the blonde that they could have acted as if nothing happened.

But he couldn't stop thinking about it, and it seemed Draco couldn't either, given the way he was blushing as well.

“It’s just…whatever, Potter.” Draco replied as he tried not to show his embarrassed.

The blonde got up from the chair and was about to head towards the exit, just wanting to go to bed and get some well deserved rest but Harry grabbed his hand to stop him from leaving.

“It’s not just whatever.” Harry replied, looking at the other male.

Draco lost himself for a moment into the depth of Harry’s green eyes but he couldn’t afford to give up to the other.

“I can’t. It’s too complicated.” Draco said as he shook his head.

Part Ten

In just a few days time they had found and promptly destroyed Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup, Hermione and Ron had to admit that Draco had definitely helped them in the quest.

The unexpected alliance felt strange to everyone but Draco was determined to prove himself at every cost and that’s why he was in the library by himself just a few days later.

He was trying to figure out what the next Horcrux to destroy was and where they could have found it.

Harry walked up to the table Draco was sitting at, he placed his hand onto the blonde’s shoulder.

“You should rest.” Harry said, he knew Draco was working hard to try and prove himself to the three of them.

“I know.” Draco replied with a sigh, he knew he should have taken some time to rest but he needed to help them find out about the next Horcrux.

Draco closed the book laying onto the table in front of him, rubbing his eyes as he tried not to let exhaustion get the better of him.

The weight of his past mistakes haunted him, urging him to press on despite the fatigue.

Harry looked down at Draco, his platinum blonde hair reflected the moonlight coming in from the nearby window and he couldn’t help but stare a few seconds too long.

“Draco-“ he cleared his throat, blushing ever so slightly.

It was the first time he had ever called Draco by his first name, it just came so naturally to him that he didn’t really think twice before speaking.

Draco seemed equally surprised, he thought Harry was still his rival but he couldn’t help but think back at that night when Harry kissed him on the top of the astronomy tower.

He had almost pushed that thought away, into a secluded corner of his mind but now he wasn’t sure about what to think.

Draco had been waiting nervously outside the library, only partially aware of the discussion his presence out there had generated amongst the members of the golden trio.

Harry had sent him an owl letting him know that they would meet the next day just outside the library.

As the time approached, Draco's anxiety grew, conscious of the skepticism surrounding him but he couldn’t ran away now.

The blonde saw the three students walk towards him, he stood there with a blank expression instead of the usual grin he permanently had on his face when he had approached them in the past.

“Malfoy.” Hermione greeted him before Harry gestured to follow them as Hermione and Ron entered the library.

They four of them settled into a quiet corner, away from prying eyes as Hermione grabbed a few different books.

The two seemed to be very much reluctant about letting Draco in their conversation while Harry tried to make the blonde aware of whatever they had discovered about Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup even if it wasn’t much.

Part Eight

Harry had been in a different mood, Hermione and Ron could definitely sense the change.

He seemed more determined and optimistic in their hunt for the next Horcrux but they didn’t know why since they haven’t been able to track it down yet.

Harry still didn’t know what to tell them or how to find the right words to let them know that none other than Draco Malfoy had accepted to join them.

He worried they might not understand, or worse, mistrust Draco’s intentions and believe he was up to something.

Of course the rest of the holden trio wasn’t going to be as understanding of Draco as he had been himself and because he knew they will surely be opposed to his idea, he needed some time before letting them know.

A few days later he found the courage to finally tell his friends and their reactions are just like what he had expected.

Ron was completely against letting Draco join then, thinking he would try and get the Horcrux before they could destroy it and help Voldemort.

Hermione seemed to think about it a bit more, he knew he could convince her that it was a good idea eventually.

Part Seven

After Draco ran away Harry could only curse himself for being too careless, if only he had not kissed Draco they could have talked more about how he wanted to help him and maybe Draco would have even accepted but he had lost his only chance.

A few days later Harry, Hermione and Ron were about to track down the next Horcrux they would need to destroy.

Harry was walking down an hallway when he turned around the corner he saw Draco just a few steps ahead of him, he was quick to catch up to the other male.

“Malfoy.” He called out his name as he placed his hand onto the other’s shoulder. “I’m sorry about what happened.” He said sincerely, Draco seemed startled as he turned to face Harry.

“Potter…” Harry didn’t even let him add anything else before stopping him.

“Just…as if nothing happened…please, I will help you.” He looked into Draco’s eyes as if trying to tell him that he could completely trust him.

Draco didn’t know what to say, maybe he actually needed help, maybe he could trust Harry and escape his already written out faith.

“I…” Draco bit his bottom lip as he tried to find the right words. “I will help you destroy the Horcruxes.”

Draco was waiting for Harry at the top of the astronomy tower, he had an awful day and just wanted to see Harry and feel better thanks to him.

Harry walked up the stairs, taking the invisibly cloak off when he reached the top of the tower and seeing Draco there waiting for him.

“Hey.” Harry almost whispered as he walked up to Draco who was sitting down onto the rather cold ground, he leaned down and placed a soft tender kiss on the male’s forehead before sitting down next to him.

“I missed you.” Draco mumbled quietly as he rested his head against Harry’s shoulder, the blonde looked sad and Harry wrapped his arm around the other’s shoulders as his thumb slowly rubbed against the soft, yet way too thin for that cold night, fabric of Draco’s white crisp shirt.

Harry brushed his nose against Draco’s hair, he took in his scent of fresh expensive leather, something woody and something sweet. “I missed you too.” The shorter male replied softly.

“It’s cold.” Draco whined as he shuffled closer to Harry’s body, the green eyed male pulled Draco into a hug as he made him sit in his lap.

“Better?” Harry asked as he wrapped his arms about Draco, the blonde wrapped his own arms around Harry’s neck as he straddled the male’s hips.

Draco nodded as he looked down at Harry and when their eyes met he leaned down to kiss the other, the tender kiss quickly deepened as Draco pushed his tongue into Harry’s mouth exploring it once again.

Harry needed so desperately to feel Draco’s skin against his, he was quick to unbutton and toss the blonde’s shirt onto the floor while Draco did the same with his shirt.

A Second Chance

Part Six

Harry was left alone in the tower, he stood there confused to what had happened.

He kissed Malfoy. Why did he kiss Malfoy?

The blonde had probably been completely disgusted by his action and ran away, he just wanted to talk to him and help him but ultimately had only managed to scare him away and now he would never get another chance to help Draco.

He groaned and kicked a nearby wooden box on the ground as he ran his fingers through his dark hair, he felt so useless now as he wasn’t even able to help out someone without his stupid feeling getting in the way.

He couldn’t even talk to anyone about what had happened, he didn’t have e any excuse as to why he had kissed Draco and he wasn’t going to admit his feeling towards Draco to anyone else any time soon.

Meanwhile Draco was running down the stairs as his heart felt like it could rip open his chest and fall out, he almost could still feel the ghost of Harry’s lips on his own.

He didn’t know why he ran away or maybe he did but wasn’t going to admit it, he ran away because he was too afraid he would enjoy Harry’s kiss and lean into it which he couldn’t afford to do.
