THIS. DESIGN. TOOK. WEEKS. I love it, though. :D I did this Where's Waldo-style illustration for a plate that we put in the June @rainbowcrate. The last slide is a list of all the books represented in the pic - can you find them all? I included a few random close-ups, too. It was fun trying to imitate the style of those books, right down to the color palette!

ALL of these books were approved for use by the author or agent, and getting that all coordinated was a zoo that I thank Danielle for doing. I'd say I don't have the patience, but I did this whole piece of art, so that's not really true lol. I did some characters that ultimately weren't approved for one reason or another (including the Schitt's Creek cast), so I might post them sometime just for fun. Never any hard feelings - I get it. But I think it would be fun to post them if I can find the time to go through my old versions of the file and screencap them.

You can see the final plate on the @rainbowcrate account right now, and some more pics will go up tomorrow! I ended up coating my plate with clear spray paint to bring out the vibrancy of the design and it looks GORGEOUS!

June was a heavy design month for me, but I got to read some GREAT books. The book this first illustration was based on, The Left Hand of Dog by Si Clarke, was my absolute favorite escapist read this year! PLEASE read it, I'm begging you!

Funny design note: I went through so many flag colors for the "tea." My favorite was the alternate agender flag, but we decided to go with rainbow in the end. They both look great, though!

This design is one of those that you really have to read the book to get, and I smile every time (also wish this was a real thing!).

I also really loved this texty art I did for @rainbowcrate based on The Disasters by MK England! This was used as the case design for a really cool collapsible straw! I have been keeping it on my desk because it's so cool, but I need to move it to my bag soon so I can use it!

For everyone looking for some rainbow today, here is the “lgbtiqa+ bookshelf” illustration I did for Rainbow Crate’s November box. We put it onto coasters and they turned out So. Darn. Good!!!

The second is a photo of the coasters from regal_leaves on Instagram. They’re going to be a staple in my house for a LONG time, so I hope to take some good photos of them, too, over time!

Yes, every book spine is an LGBT book on there. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!

@pynchpromptweek Day 5: Future

This is my cute little ode to the scene in Call Down The Hawk where Ronan dreams of a future Adam, standing in a field, feeding him ripe tomatoes. I looked up dream symbolism after that, and tomatoes, particularly the consumption of, indicates happy married/domestic bliss. I’m pretty sure Maggie knew that when she wrote this. ;)

Day 4: Smut/NSFW

I almost skipped this prompt entirely! I love smut, of all shapes and orientations, but it just feels weird in this style. Weiiiiiird. I’ve drawn plenty of smut in a regular style, but I’ve never gone beyond artful or funny nudity in chibi style. But hey, it’s still kind of cute! Your guess as to why Ronan and Adam are on the top of the BMW, naked, looking down on Henrietta from the rolling hills. All your guess . ;) Enioy!

Here’s my day 3 piece for @pynchpromptweek!

Day 3: Historical AU

On day 1, I went for a darkish, neutral theme. Yesterday was sad and muted. But today is all the colors! AAAAAALLLLLL THE COLORS. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do for this prompt. My first impulse was Victorian-era type of stuff, but I wasn’t feeling it. I mulled it around forever. But I guess that it was inevitable that I’d land on Greek gods as a “historical” theme (nobody worships them any more, I mean, right?), as I’ve been reading Percy Jackson recently for the first time. So!

So, have a pretty Ronan-as-Ares and Adam-as-Apollo. Oh dear. I need to find out if there’s anything in Greek mythology about those two, now. I know there were a loooooot of Greek gods that dabbled on both sides of the fence, so to speak.

Sad Lynch Brothers Pt. 2

I’m officially obsessed with vintage motorcycles. Thanks, Margaret. I have never once cared for motorcycles in my entire 30+ years of existence. I was vehemently against my ex getting herself one. — whether it was the biker aesthetic, the thundering exhausts in the middle of the night, or the sheer bulk of them, they seemed like overly masculine machines sure to bring about a grisly death. But I’d never seen a vintage motorbike until I googled it for this drawing. Now I have and now I want one. I’m now an Adam on a vintage bike STAN. I’m now also a Jamie on a vintage motorbike stan. 😍

Damnit. I’ve got a lot of expensive things on my to-buy list, but I’m basically poor. >.>
