to be clear I am not taking shots at this creator of this post. I am using this post as an opportunity to address the entire fandom (although i'm sure less than 50 people will see this) because over the years I have lost the sustained ability to debate with people about things that are obvious and frankly not debatable.

I thought hunger games fans were supposed to be better and smarter because hunger games itself is a very unique kind of series, with its unprecedentedly bold and accurate commentary about a lot of different aspects of society, while still being entertaining. I thought its thought-provoking nature was part of the appeal. but no. the fans still lack critical thinking skills. they still have the tendency to ignore evidence to favor their own beliefs, to reject any kind of complex or contradicting facts (even though primrose's death has been staring us in the face since mockingjay), and to blame one entity for all problems, effectively sacrificing the truth for easily fathomable solutions. they still have the capacity to be as toxic as any other fandom, and personally attack people they don't agree with, simply because they feel brave enough to do so behind a screen. they're just people, after all.

and hey, I'm not immune to lapses in judgement. but I have made it a priority to always be willing to learn and grow. I especially don't bully people on the internet. and before you call me a keyboard warrior, I will point out that you don't know me personally. I will tell people this to their faces. I may be a bit socially inept in that regard, but I promise I have the right intentions. I just can't stand it when people refuse to think critically. it's why a certain dumbass keeps getting elected president of the united states. it's why suzanne collins keeps writing more books. it's also why I think everyone should be required to take a psychology course in high school (speaking as a psych major in college).

and so if necessary, I will whip out my chief debater alter ego, even if it takes years off of my life.

I am not trying to start a fight on here. I'm partially just screaming into the void a little, because I find this more effective than journaling. but mostly, I agree with this post, while also acknowledging the inherent hypocrisy in it.

If I had a nickel for every time a community episode helped me answer a question on a final, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice

#1: opening scene in season 3, episode 16 - virtual systems analysis (I used it on my biology final in high school. I shit you not. it was incredibly helpful.)

#2: about 5 minutes into season 1, episode 4 - social psychology (used this on an intro to psych final in college. thanks duncan for teaching freud lol)
