Jason is one of the most distant in the family. No one really knows what happened after he got resurrected in the pit, and it's not like they'd ask. Jason was a pretty private man, after all.
In this AU, they don't know about anything that went down with the outlaws. Nothing with the LOA, either. So sometimes, a conversation will go down like:
--
Tim: Don't you think it's a bit weird that Penguin hasn't done anything as of late? What if he's planning something big? There hasn't even been a single appearance-
Jason *eating a sandwich*: He's in my walls.
Tim: Sorry- what?
Jason:
Tim: What the fuck did you mean by that?
Jason:
--
Dick *on the phone*: Hey, wanna go out for lunch this week? There's this case I have to speak to you about-
Jason: Sorry, I'm in Nepal right now.
Dick: Oh? You on some big solo case, or-
Jason: Nah, I was gonna visit my favorite magic cult, but then I ran into Talia and I haven't seen her in a bit so I doubt I'll be able to see you this week haha
Dick: What.
Jason: *hangs up*
--
I dunno, I just really like these kinds of AUs. The comedy is limitless.

I find it hilarious, how, when Hyorinmaru gets a wielder too young and weak to safely handle bankai, goes 'okay I can finangle in a timer for you so you don't overdo it, and I can make it pretty, but I'm not giving you its full power until you're old enough. I can give you most of the abilities for now though, if weakened, alright? Don't get hurt.'
Meanwhile Zangetsu, upon Ichigo gaining bankai the day before, went 'you've got ten minutes before your body collapses and disintegrates from the strain, no I won't help you, in fact you're going to get painfully possessed by a hollow mid fight with no explanation who's going to yell at you for doing terrible by proxy'.

Awww, this actually makes me feel for the guy a little.
He's got every right to be uncomfortable, because he really shouldn't be in this position. This form makes literal what has been a struggle for Toshiro during the entire story-- he really has been asked to grow up too soon. I'm not saying that the spirit academy should have turned him away, but they probably should have had a special educational unit or program for guys like him and Gin, instead of throwing them into the army immediately.
Instead, he got put in a (relatively highly ranked!) officer position, and had to take over when his CO ran away, which also moved the one remaining caregiver in his life into a weird position where he was also her CO. Then Aizen made his a target of his criminal conspiracy, which saw him and all his loved ones manipulated and grievously wounded. And then during the war, it all happened again. And now he's here, battling this mythical giant, and trying to teach basic common sense and responsibility to a man roughly 1000 years older than him.
He'll do it, because he has to, because there really isn't anybody else who can. But I do think that deep down, he wishes it didn't have to be this way.

do you think that when jason gets ticked off, he pauses and looks at alfred and says, “how much money would i have to put in the swear jar if i said–” and he whispers something in his ear and then alfred clears his throat and says, “oh sir that’ll rack you up to at least fifty dollars” and jason looks in his pocket and then says, “i can’t afford it”

I have been pondering the recent rash of "post canon NHS and LXC would never ever reconcile bc even if NHS wanted to have Er-ge back, LXC would never ever forgive him for [insert reason of choice here]" type of posts + the "do you think NHS thinks very hard about how much Da-ge would hate him for becoming [the way that he is now] by choosing to seek vengeance" type of posts, and I think fundamentally the reason these posts do not jive with me is that we have no indication, in the show or in the book that uh, NHS gives a shit about either of these things very much anymore?
The first type of post is predicated on the assumption that LXC's forgiveness or lack thereof some some sort of either extension of mercy (which NHS obviously does not deserve <- or so assumes the post) or some form of punishment (which is obviously the correct answer) but the last scene we get with NHS both in the book and the show make no indication that this is a thing he wants? Or cares about? Book NHS has *sauntered off* with his little hat trophy and Show NHS walks off screen after saying something along the lines of "What is my responsibility I won't shirk, what isn't my responsibility I won't care about." Now, arguably, show NHS is having a worse go of it emotionally, but shows no real inclination or interest in either apologies or making up and being friends again with LWJ, LXC, WWX, or other people. Book NHS seems pretty pleased with the outcome of the events as a whole?
The second type of post is predicated on the fact that NHS finds Da-ge's judgement a horrible burden to bear at this stage in the game, which! He might! But again especially in the book we get no indication that he has any fucks left to give about what Da-ge may or may not have wanted since Da-ge is dead. In both the show and the book, NHS went about revenge taking very specific and complicated actions with the desired result of JGY dying, but he certainly took the scenic route getting there, which, he didn't need to? As I've written about before, JGY didn't see him as a threat. If he wanted JGY dead he could've arranged to poison JGY's tea like, 10 years ago and had done with it instead of his complicated Rube Goldberg life ruining scheme. If he is still sickly anxious about how Da-ge might feel about the scheming and the trouble causing and the whole everything, that's certainly possible, but he must've decided it was worth it anyway regardless of that, and I don't know that it necessarily would've changed just because he got what he wanted at the end.
Overall, I think as a fandom we think a lot about like "will and should this relationship ever be repaired or similar to how it used to be?" and "does this character deserve/not deserve the forgiveness of people they've hurt or abandoned?" which can be interesting questions! I do feel like these are often taken as "is a character morally good (deserves to be forgiven) or morally bad (deserves to rot in hell forever never forgiven ever ever)" and based entirely on if Character is the meta writer's blorbo. Under this paradigm the concept of "Character did bad things to get exactly what they wanted and were happy about that and no relationships were ever repaired and the emotional detachment of people they used to care about no longer matters to them!" is uncomfortable.
It's just that for NHS I've increasingly come to the conclusion that canonically, I don't think NHS thinks he has anything to apologize for, nor is he super interested in being forgiven! He got what he wanted the way he wanted it to happen. Which is potentially supremely unsatisfying but I think is very sexy as a narrative concept.

It's a Fenton thing
A lot of Dead on Main fics have Danny and Jason get together over some form of violence and have it be how ghost courtship works.
Sometimes it's kicking someone's ass. Sometimes it's kicking ass on their behalf. Sometimes it's about making a point of showing off your ass-kicking skills in front of them.
It's all fun. It's all valid.
But what if, hear me out, it was not a ghost courtship thing but was a Fenton courtship thing.
How many times has Jack Fenton said "Man that's hot" in response to Maddie kicking ass?
Do you see my vision?
Jason going on a rampage when his enemies kidnap Danny. Danny swooning so hard it takes him a minute to remember how to phase the restraints off. Then he bounds over to fight by his boyfriend's side with a big, lovestruck grin with just a hint of viciousness.
Both of them showing off their combat skills for the other to admire.
At some point, someone asks if it's a ghost thing, and One of the Fentons replies "no, that's just how hotness works," at the same that a ghost replies "no, they're just like that."
Imagine a universe where Jazz's first crush was on the one other kid in her karate class who could best her as often as she beat them.
Imagine the Fentons having a colorful history of falling in love on battlefields and in underground fighting rings.

I need a situation where one of the younger batkids are in an argument with Jason, and bring up the fact that he "wasn't a good kid"
Damian: "Tch. Todd, you are just angry because you were too busy rebelling to get father's attention."
Jason:
Dick: "..What?"
Damian: "Your degenerative behavior as a child is the whole reason father does not respect you now."
Bruce: "Damian, Jason was a saint."
Damian: "What?"
Dick: "Jason had a self imposed bed time."
Bruce: "He had a weird obsession with homework.."
Dick: "Once, I tried to sneak him out, and he cried."
Bruce: "I once implied that he could sneak out, and he cried."
Damian:
Jason: "Dami, B and I don't get along because of our terrible morals."
Bruce: "Well, I wouldn't say that-"
Jason: "He hates me because we both have extremely fucked up versions of justice that we don't agree on-"
Bruce: "Now, I never said-"
Jason: "I was a child and he hated me. He hates children-"
Bruce: "God damnit, Jason-"
Damian:
Damian: "My whole perspective has been altered."

I know I take Jason too seriously but there is just something about like. Being the ultimate image of a voiceless victim: a murdered child. Being something that everyone in the family was able to project their tragedy and beliefs onto, a glass case mirroring their thoughts.
And then to come back, furious and sharp and nothing like the silent grave. To have a voice again and be screaming.

I know the popular take is that Jason responds to familial affection by going ew fuck you gtf off me or whatever but to be honest I think if someone actually tried it he's ending up weeping wailing face red sniffling coughing collapsing to his knees in the rain type of reaction just completely sopping pathetic. his eyes are so swollen he can't see shit and falls off a cliff

You know what pisses me off about batfamily fics post jason's resurrection, especially when they play bruce up as this grieving loving father?
The whole reason jason went looking for sheila is because bruce explicitly said he WASN'T jason's father.
"I'm not your father, Jason. I don't need your teenage rebellion."
What a fucked up thing to say to a child that you SHOULD know well enough to realize that was not appropriate to getting him to cooperate or listen to you. You pick up a traumatized kid. LEGALLY ADOPT HIM, and then do none of the work to build a real relationship beyond using him as a little sidekick.
I want jason to throw this is bruce's face. I want jason to legally no longer be a wayne before he even goes back to gotham as hood. Bruce chose to sever that parental bond before jason was killed and still wants the guilt associated with grieving a boy that by his own admission isn't his child.
I don't care what people say about his intentions or not meaning it. Who gives a fuck about what he MEANT when what he said was essentially ,"I don't love you, you are not my son. You are only useful as Robin." To then take Robin away from him.
No wonder Jason was willing to chase the tail of a woman he'd never met who lead him right into the arms of the clown. And bruce fails him again, because he was in Ethiopia not for Jason, but for the Joker.
I just hate that bruce gets this loving fatherly role when he wasn't even willing to admit he was one.
DENIAL IS A RIVER IN EGYPT.
Jason deserves to continue to keep that boundary that Bruce established like a blade to bruce's and the others throats. He died thinking he had no family alive that loved him, and in my opinion he was right. He's not bruce's son. Just a good soldier, right?
Sorry for the rant.
- 🪼
YOU'RE RIGHT AS ALWAYS.
because he literally called Jason Robin before he adopted him. He took him in specifically to be Robin. So of course when he was benched in ADITF he ran. He had always been under the impression his place in Bruce's life was tied to Robin. He had always been a soldier before his son. LITERALLY EVERYTIME THEY WERE TOGETHER OUTSIDE OF SUITS THEY WERE STILL WORKING ON A CASE.
I HATE YOU BRUCE WAYNE

Jason: BITCH.

Jason: PUSSY.
Bruce, tearing up slightly: would you like to be my son again?

imagine attacking Mondstadt though. 'oh you wanna attack mond? don't do that. they have one fanatic nun and another who hides knives in her nun dress. they have a workaholic acting grandmaster, and a witch for librarian who graduated from the akademiya early. they're friends with a wolfpack and a wolf god and there's this kid who literally howls at the moon. they have a princess...? from another world? they have a knight whose friendly interaction is calls for vengeance. there's this kid with the worst luck ever who's actually alive. the most powerful witches throw tea parties there. one of them has a student who can look at you and tell you when and how you'll die. another one of them has an arsonist daughter who makes bombs. for fun. she's shorter than your knee and she'll kill you. one of her big brothers is a witch-made alchemist and the other is khaenri'ahn royalty. whose brother is literally banned from snezhnaya by the decree of the cryo archon herself. oh did I mention the resident dragon.'
