"Pedophilia is bad! Ban pedophilia!" -> "Queer is synonymous with pedophiles, let's ban queer media too!"
That's how the pipeline always fucking goes
"Oh but I won't mistake queer identity for pedophilia!" someone else with more power then you will. And it won't be a mistake.
There is no middle compromise. There is no 0.9 or 0.4 or 0.6. It's 0 or 1. All or nothing.
"I don't want to read this" is totally valid.
"This is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't want to read this because it is disgusting to me" is totally valid.
"I don't think anyone should be allowed to read or write this because it is disgusting to me" is authoritarian.

Name: Agent 'A' Angel Age: ??? Role: Caretaker, Field Medic, Back-up Physical Description: Appears to be a humanoid man in his late 60's/early 70's with salt and pepper hair. Wears a traditional butler's suit stained with what appears to be human blood and a domino mask. The back of the suit has two pairs of white wings embroidered onto it. There are holes in the suit on the right side on both the front and back of the suit that suggests he may have been shot at one point in his life close to the heart, but there does not seem to be a corresponding wound and there is no blood. Cause of Death: Gunshot wound to the heart (unconfirmed) Powers: N/A Weapon of choice: A muted sawed-off shotgun with considerable wear and tear to it. It is currently unknown how the shotgun is muted- there are no visible silencers attached to it.
Extra: Agent Angel (referred to as 'Agent A') appears to be the primary caregiver of a gathering of cryptid vigilantes in Gotham known as 'The Brood', despite Batman being the father and de-facto leader. He is known to have excellent medical skills, which suggests some sort of military training as a field medic. While Agent A does not appear to have any powers, unlike the rest of 'The Brood', it is still currently unknown whether or not he is human.
---
Name: Batman Age: ???? Role: Father, Creator, vigilante Physical Description: Appears to be a somewhat quadrupedal creature with an as-of-yet undefined skeletal structure. His eyes appear to be completely white and shaped similar to a bats, and will glow slightly under dark light levels. There are two bat-like ears at the top of his head and each of his limbs end in retracting claws resembling that of a cats. Wears what appears to be a sentient black cape and cowl made of shadows Cause of Death: N/A Powers: Umbrakinesis (Shadow manipulation), Fear manipulation, Flight Weapon of choice: Claws, but uses throwing knives in the shape of a bat as a long-range weapon when needed
Extra: Batman is the 'father' of The Brood (barring Agent A). He is known to be ferociously protective of his children- known as 'The Younglings', despite some of them being fully grown in human years, and is also extremely knowledgeable in the caring and comfort of human children. He appears to be somewhat pained by sunlight- although whether or not it is because it truly hurts him, or because he is unused to the high levels of light because of Gotham's ever-present clouds is unknown. It is unknown as to what Batman is- many sources, however, call him a 'demon'.
---
Name: Nightwing Age: 20-30 years old Role: Brother, Vigilante Physical Description: Appears to be a well-built, young Romani male with tanned skin, short, black hair, and dark blue eyes. The neck has been broken in two places- once at C2, and again at the C4 bone, rendering Nightwing being unable to keep his head up. There are also multiple unhealed fractured and broken bones along the arms and legs, however they do not seem to impact Nightwing's ability to stand and move. Wears a black, skin-tight one piece suit made of an unknown fabric with a dark blue V at the front and back and black gloves, possess a pair of wings of the same color that seem to have been shattered along multiple places, rendering Nightwing flightless. Face is covered by a bird-shaped half-mask made of what appears to be human bone. Cause of Death: Falling Powers: Electrokinesis (electricity manipulation), aerokinesis (Air manipulation), Flight (through aerokinesis control) Weapon of choice: Two electric escrima sticks.
Extra: Nightwing, the original holder of the 'Robin' title, is the eldest "Bird" and rumored to be the spirit of one Richard Grayson of the Flying Graysons, who died along with his parents during a fall accident in Gotham many years ago. It is to be noted that Nightwing does not appear to know much English, despite being the original founder of the Teen Titans, and has a severe case of Palilalia (The involuntary repetition of words or syllables). Nightwing is currently situated in Bludhaven.
---
Name: Finch Age: mid-20s Role: Brother, Vigilante, Hero Physical Description: Appears to a young male of Irish descent with severe malnutrition (Wasting malnutrition), however does not experience many of the side effects known to the condition. Also shows signs of extreme sleep deprivation despite excellent reflexes. There are multiple frost-bite burns along the wrists, hands, neck, chest, and face. Wears a grey, skin-tight one-piece suit made of the same material as Nightwing's, with padded shins and knees and an armored, red overshirt made of what appears to be Titanium, as well as a tattered black cape with red edges, a black utility belt, black gloves extending to the shoulder, and a black domino mask. Cause of Death: Hypothermia Powers: Dream manipulation, Hyper Intelligence Weapon of choice: Extending Bo Staff made of an unidentified metal.
Extra: Finch was the 3rd holder of the 'Robin' title before 'evolving' into Finch. He is rumored to be the spirit of one Timothy Drake, who died due to the neglect of his parents, which landed Janet and Jack Drake in Arkham. He is currently the leader of Young Justice.
---
Name: Starling Age: Late Teens Role: Sister, Vigilante Physical Description: Appears to be a young woman of Asian descent with brown eyes. There is a length of rope around the neck with a burnt end. Wears a full-body, skin-tight suit made of the same material as Finch and Nightwing's with only the neck and eyes visible, with bright yellow stitches at each joint. Mouth appears to be sewn shut and unable to heal, making the front of the suit stained red with blood. Cause of Death: Strangulation Powers: Umbrakinesis (Shadow manipulation), Audiokinesis (Noise manipulation) Weapon of choice: To date, Starling is one of the only members of the so-called "Brood" to not use any specific weapons, instead preferring to use her fists.
Extra: Starling is unable to talk, and uses a mix of ASL and BSL to communicate along with hand signals that seem to be localized to the family only.
---
Name: Red Hood Age: mid-20s Role: Brother, Vigilante, Crime Lord Physical Description: Appears to a young male of unknown descent with several actively bleeding Gunshot wounds to multiple areas of the body. Wears a black muscle shirt, a brown leather jacket, black tactical pants, and black gloves stained with blood. Face is covered with an armored red motorcycle helmet. Cause of Death: Gunfight Powers: Super Strength, Thermokinesis (Temperature manipulation) Weapon of choice: To date, Red Hood is the only known member of the so-called "Brood" to use a variety of guns.
Extra: Red Hood was the 2nd holder of the 'Robin' title before an unknown incident caused him to disappear. He re-appeared several years later as his current 'form'. He is rumored to be the manifestation of the spirits of children who died in Gotham's infamous Crime Alley. He is currently the head of The Outlaws. —- Name: Mockingbird Age: Late Teens Role: Sister, Vigilante Physical Description: Appears to a young female of unknown descent with a black mask covering the lower half of the face and blue-green eyes. It is to be noted that due to Mockingbird's Mimicry powers, she is often seen 'wearing' someone else's face. However, when not using her powers, the visible sections of the face appear to be disfigured, with several burn marks consistent with the results of an acid attack. The left eye has been sealed shut. While using Mimicry, the left eye appears to be cloudier and paler than the right. Wears an armored black body suit with purple edging and a black cape with a hood, as well as purple gloves with clawed fingertips.
Cause of Death: Acid attack to the face Powers: Mimicry Weapon of choice: Twin batons, clawed gloves
Extra: Mockingbird is also known as 'Spoiler'. Unlike the other members of the so-called 'Brood', Mockingbird started out as an independent vigilante focused entirely on the former Rogue known as the 'Cluemaster'. Upon his death, Mockingbird was brought into the rest of the family. It is theorized that the acid attack may have been extended to the neck as well, as she is unable to talk without using another person's voice
—-
Name: The Signal/Signal Age: Late Teens Role: Brother, Vigilante, Gotham's 'Signal' Physical Description: Appears to a young, dark skinned male with a shaved head, dark brown eyes, and several scars on the arms and neck consistent with ritualistic scarring. Eyes do not have pupils and glow a strong golden color. When using his powers, the scars will glow the same color. Wears a white mask, a light grey toga with several tears at the bottom, and appears to have a halo of some sort floating above his head, which will occasionally manifest bat-like ears seemingly at random. Hands are covered with white gloves made of an unknown, flexible metal, and there are cufflinks on his wrist, which appear to be some sort of power inhibitors. Cause of Death: Unknown Powers: Advanced Healing factor, Photokinesis, Invisibility (using Photokinesis) Weapon of choice: Two metal sticks made of an unknown material with a bat-shaped blade attached to the ends
Extra: Signal, also known as The Signal, is rumored to be the physical manifestation of the Bat-Signal used by Gotham's Police department to summon the so-called 'Brood' during the day, and is the only day-light vigilante in Gotham —-
Name: Oracle Age: N/A Role: Vigilante, Hacker Physical Description: Oracle has no physical body, and is rumored to be a particularly intelligent AI. However, her work can always be identified by finding a 'sigil' of sorts- a green eye, with the outline of a bat in the same color as the pupil. Cause of Death: N/A Powers: All-Seeing Eye, Technokinesis (Technology manipulation) Weapon of choice: N/A
Extra: 'Oracle' has only been heard through communicators, through either a modified voice or an AI text-to-speech. She is also known as 'Gotham's Eye', and appears to have full control of Gotham's security systems.
—-
Name: Robin Age: 8-10 Role: Brother, Vigilante Physical Description: Appears to be a very young male of Arabic descent with a body that terminates at the waist, with the lower half being replaced by shadows, as well as green eyes. Mentally begging people to realize that just because the author wrote [x] a specific way doesn’t mean the author holds those same values please this is genuinely basic elementary logic I’m going insane

A queer piece of media a day (except I started late): Torchwood//T.V Show
A spin-off of Doctor Who, Torchwood features Doctor Who's Jack Harkness, along with his entirely human team, defending Earth from alien threats in absence of The Doctor. Torchwood made headlines during its 2006 debut for having an entire main cast who were (mostly), ambiguously queer, with only Jack, Ianto, and Gwen having their sexualities explicitly stated. One of TW's most defining traits is the fact that despite the fact that the main cast is entirely all queer, the show doesn't fall into the same trap other queer media seems to do, where characters are defined solely by their sexualities (yes, even Jack "I will fuck an alien today I think" Harkness isn't defined by his sexuality in TW either). A very good watch for DW fans who haven't discovered TW yet, and highly recommended if you want to see disaster queers try to be secret about their not actually very secret organization. ("Who the hell orders a pizza under the name Torchwood?")

A queer character creator a day (except I started late): Eret//MCYT
Most commonly known for their Dream SMP era and deep voice, Eret is now a variety streamer on Twitch with sporadic YouTube uploads. Eret uses any pronouns (except it/itself) and identifies as genderqueer and bisexual, and recently celebrated being 1 year on HRT several weeks ago. It should be noted that she is currently on social media break, but did have a stream 7 days ago on Twitch.

A queer piece of media a day (except I started late): Honourable Mention- Star Trek//T.V Show
While Star Trek only recently started fully implementing queer characters (within the last 5-ish years or so), Star Trek: The Original Series receives an honourable mention for being part of the thing that paved way for most of what shipping culture is today, in the form of the wildly popular mlm ship, Spirk (Spock and Captain Kirk). [It should be noted that for those who take "765874 - Unification" as part of the series, Spirk may be canon to Star Trek]
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is the first of the franchise to feature two queer characters: Lieutenant Commander Dax, and Lenara Kahn. While the characters do not get together (due to some in-universe rules regarding Dax), they were very nearly the first WLW couple to hit Star Trek's screens. Lieutenant Commander Dax is also technically genderfluid- being joined to an alien symbiote called a Trill (the symbiotes are not placed in exclusively men or women bodies), she has lived lives as both a male and a female.
Star Trek: Discovery introduces five canonically queer characters all at once: > Engineer Paul Stamets and his husband Ships Doctor Hugh Colber > Jett Reno (played by openly gay comedian Tig Notaro) > Adira Tal and Gray, who are non-binary and trans respectively, and whose actors share the same identity as them
Star Trek: Picard hints at a WLW relationship between Seven and Raffi Musiker, the main character.
A good watch if you're looking for some sci-fi, without the really dark themes of Star Wars, as well as some killer worldbuilding.

A queer character creator a day (except I started late): Martyn Inthelittlewood// MCYT

Often mistaken for a different MCYT content creator (Phil/Philza), Martyn is most known for participation in the following Minecraft SMPS: > Misadventures SMP > The various -Life SMPs, hosted by Grian > Rats SMP > Pirates SMP Martyn is also often named one of the ‘honorary Hermits’ from the Hermitcraft SMP fandom, due to his numerous collaborations with the SMP’s members both in and out of the -Life SMPs. Martyn identifies as gynesexual, a term used to describe the sexual attraction to feminine people regardless of their assigned gender at birth.

A queer piece of media a day (except I started late): The Mortal Instrument series//TV shows and books
In a world where angels and demons exist, humans with angel blood find themselves battling a daily war against said demons, and sometimes monsters too. Everything gets turned on its head, however, with the emergence of Jace and Clary, two siblings separated from birth. Both with twice the amount of angel blood a Shadowhunter is supposed to have, giving them unique abilities no other person possesses.
The Mortal Instrument series feature two main queer characters that alternate between being background and main characters, depending on the book: Alexander 'Alec' Gideon Lightwood-Bane, a gay Shadowhunter, and Magnus Bane, a bisexual warlock and Alec's husband. There is also a background lesbian relationship- Aline Penhallow (A Shadowhunter), and her wife Helen Blackthorn (Half Shadowhunter, half fey), and in the beginning of the series, Raphael the vampire is present, an asexual Hispanic. There are a number of other background characters who are queer (with most of them coming from the short stories and The Infernal Devices- which happens in the same universe but several generations beforehand), but listing them all would take too long.

A queer character a day (except I started late): Jonathan ‘Jon’ Sims//The Magnus Archives

Often seen as Welcome to Nightvale’s more horror-based sibling, The Magnus Archives is a unique take on a horror/supernatural podcast. Jonathan Sims is the main character of the podcast and works as an archivist at The Magnus Archives. While not explicitly stated by the podcasts’ characters at the time (because they were all dealing with… things), the creators of The Magnus Archives have confirmed that he is Ace and Bi. It should also be noted that TMA’s writer, who goes by the same name of the main character, is queer himself, and has a nonbinary partner. TMA also features plenty of other queer characters, with these two being the most prominent: > Martin Blackwood, one of Jon’s assistants (MLM) > Timothy ‘Tim’ Stoker, also an archival assistant (Bi)

A queer piece of media a day (except I started late): 9-1-1//TV Show

A team of firefighters, dispatchers, and police officers find themselves thrust into high-energy, tense situations everyday, all while dealing with familial and friendship drama.
The show features many queer characters, including: > Paramedic Henrietta Hen’ Wilson (lesbian) > Supervising Dispatcher Josh Russo (gay) > Firefighter Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley (Bisexual) > Karen Wilson, Hen’s wife > Michael Grant, the ex-husband of Field Sargent Athena Grant-Nash > LAFD pilot Thomas ‘Tommy’ Kinard (gay)
It should also be noted that 9-1-1 had a spinoff called 9-1-1: Lonestar, taking place in the same universe with a different set of first responders. Lonestar included the following queer characters: > Firefighter Paul Strickland (Trans Male) > Former paramedic Tyler Kennedy ‘T.K’ Strand (gay) > Police Officer Carlos Reyes (And T.K’s husband) > Paramedic Nancy Gillian (Bisexual)
A good watch if you like high-tension scenarios and a bit of the found family dynamic within the firehouse. 9-1-1 is still ongoing, while 9-1-1: Lonestar was cancelled back in 2024 due to financial issues.

A queer piece of media a day (except I started late): The Sun and the Star//Mark Oshiro and Rick Riordan
Written by acclaimed author Rick Riordan, as well as queer author Mark Oshiro, The Sun and The Star are part of the extended Percy Jackson universe and a spin-off of the Trials of Apollo series.
Featuring two queer characters, Nico Di Angelo (gay) and Will Solace (Bi), the story follows the pair down to the depths of Tartarus, following a voice that's been crying for help in Nico's dreams.
It is soon to be followed by The Court of the Dead, which will be released by the two same authors in September of 2025. A recommended read if you're looking for a book with queer characters that doesn't necessarily focus on their relationship, along with the usual Riordan-esque Greek mythos and shoelace soup.

A queer character a day (except I started late): The 15th Doctor//Doctor Who
Played by queer actor Ncuti Gatwa, the 15th Doctor is the first reincarnation to be as explicit about the character's queer identity as it was, and features the second instance of the Doctor being in an openly queer relationship- the Doctor and Rogue in their brief lovers doomed by the narrative arc. While 15 isn't the first to wear a skirt/dress on screen (that honor goes to 3), he is the first to wear one for longer than just a scene or two.
Ncuti Gatwa's run is also characterized by the following queer background characters: > The Maestro, played by drag queen Jinx Monsoon > Ruby's unnamed boyfriend, who is implied to be bisexual > Rogue, played by by gay actor Jonathan Groff
