Sumiko sighed, looking out the window at the sky, an ink spill with only small slivers of paper left visible. She gently flipped the flower decorated sign “CLOSED”, turning off the lights, and sweeping customers’ dirt from the floors with her trusty broom, whom she named Berry.

After cleaning up, she smiled somberly, opening the light blue door with “EMPLOYEES ONLY” written in red in her neat handwriting.

Down the stairs she went, and deeper into her true self, Spider Lily came.

“Sis…ter?” Pure Lily mumbled, weakly sitting up.

“Sister! Stay— stay still. I told you, be careful with speaking, your throat’s not in good condition.” She warned, panic coursing through her as she sat at the bed’s edge.

“It’s…it’s okay, sister…cough…I’ll be okay.” The young sister smiled softly, optimistic.

“I know, I know. I’ll get the Golden Morning Glory soon, but for now!” She sang out the last word, preparing her “famous�� Rose Petal Stew. Despite its name, it wasn’t of flower petals, merely just a nickname for the beautiful red color.

The sister gasped joyously upon the bowl being placed in her weak, pale hands, “Oh sister! You didn’t have to, gosh-“ Only for her excitement to be cut short by another coughing fit. This one lasted a minute.

Spider Lily took the bowl from her trembling hands, placing it on her bedside table, “Careful, Pure Lily! Please, you know—“

“I know, Spider Lily, I know.” Pure Lily’s coughing fit slowed as she spoke, a shaky sigh exiting her lips. “But- still. Thank you, sister.” She took the bowl, placing it to her lips as she drank.

Spider Lily returned to her seat at her sister’s bed, watching her contently. She was mad, furious that her pesky servants couldn’t get the Golden Morning Glory yet again. Those stupid, STUPID girls! Did they not understand?! Did they not care?! Did they not know?! Any day, any minute, any second now her sister could draw her final breath, if she went without those mystical petals. But of course, those Flower Fighters had to keep it for themselves. 

Pure Lily sensed her elder sister’s anxiety, shakily sitting up and placing her cold, thin hand against the much warmer one. “Sister…please don’t worry. You know I’ll be okay….i always- cough -am, right?”

Spider Lily looked up, snapped out of her thoughts.

“Yeah…you always are, aren’t you.”

Do you like dark asks? Cause I wanted to ask [based off a disenchantment scene] how would the tadc cast react if Jax, while pranking a reader with a glass bulb head, shattered it, which causes reader to flat out die. The light in their head goes out before nothing

A/N: THISSS FHSJDHDHSH consumes ask i love this and disenchantment sm. It’s been a while since I watched it tho 😔. Sorta made a new setup?? Idk what I’m doing, but I think it looks neat.

Type/Summary: tadc cast’s reactions to Jax pushing a prank too far and breaking the (gn)reader’s lightbulb head, killing them. Reader literally dies, so if you guys are sensitive to that, shoo shoo, we’ll have more stuff to feed you that won’t upset you soon

LIGHTS OUT!

Jax:

He was walking from his room, down past the vibrant landscape of the digital circus until he saw you sitting at the couch. He commonly pranked you, and it never hurt too much, so what if he broke your head? Surely Caine could fix it, of course.

He stealthily snuck behind you, attempting to be slow and steady, that wins the race, right? Until someone made eye contact with him. Ragatha. There goes slow and steady. Knowing she’d warn you, he shoved you quickly, cackling at your yelp until-

CRACK

Your head…shattered. The light, gone, now eternally dark. Was he maybe possibly scared as hell? Yeah. But he couldn’t just admit that, we’re talking Jax.

“Pfft, they’ll be fine!” he laughed, trying to be hopeful in his own way.

Later, when having discovers that no, you were not fine, and somehow…dead, he couldn’t stand himself. He barely even knew you outside of his pranks, but still. He can’t help but feel like the worst human being to ever human being. Which, those now pent up emotions, anger, grief, sadness, all go to his pranks. They get worse and worse, with his mental state too. He just can’t live with himself. He didn’t mean to, he really, really didn’t. Or did he? He can’t tell. He can’t ever tell. You’re gone. He can’t apologize. Everyone, except Caine and the NPCs, treats him like a monster. He’s heard their whispers, he’s seen their looks. He knows he is.

Ragatha:

She was relaxing, crocheting in the main area when he spotted Jax behind you. Just as she began to jump up, her cloth lips beginning to move, it was too late.

A loud CRACK sounded in the room, the deed done. She scrambled to get Caine, who was nearby, thankfully, but he couldn’t do much.

You’d always been more closed off, unless to the likes of Gangle, Zooble, or Pomni, so she couldn’t know you too well. That, of course, didn’t stop her from feeling guilty. She should’ve known. She should’ve helped. She should’ve done something.

She knew you were gone the moment the light was, all those bright ideas, thoughts, jokes, plans, evaporated into the digits of code in the circus. She couldn’t help but feel like she could’ve - no, should’ve - saved you.

She was furious with Jax, but also herself, neither of the two she’d ever forgive.

Caine:

He wasn’t around when it first happened, sitting in his rocking chair, with his favorite digital pipe when Ragatha ran over, panicking.

“What’s the matter, my dear? Are you all dying for a new adventure this quickly?” He asked, worried the morning was too quiet.

“No! No, no, y/n is hurt! Badly hurt!” She was speaking quickly, wasn’t that his thing? Something was definitely wrong!!

“Hurt? I’m on it, my radiant pineapple!” He joyously shouted, teleporting the two of them to you rather quickly, despite it only being a short run. 

Seeing you shattered on the floor was startling, nobody had played that game before, but nonetheless, he’d have it done quickly.

“I’ll fix them up in a jiffy, dear Rag-“ he attempted to reassure the doll as he snapped, but oddly enough, nothing happened. “That was just a fluke, I’ll have them fixed up in no time!”and so he tried again. And failed, again.

After several snaps filled the room, he was beyond worried now, “D-don’t worry everyone! I-I’m not sure what seems to be the issue, this should be working…”

“Then why isn’t it?” Zooble interrupted, irritated.

“J-just calm down, I’ve got it!” His snaps became white noise, he tried desperately for a good 30 minutes before floating above you. He decided to just…clean you up and shove you away, unsure of what else to try.

It was upsetting, losing a valuable guest such as yourself, and all the adventures seemed a bit less…lit up. Even worse, he didn’t get it. Why didn’t it work? 

Zooble:

They got there soon after Caine did, being with gangle and Pomni. They wish they stopped Jax, maybe then you’d still be there. 

After hearing Caine’s unexplained snaps, the trio walked out, confused until Zooble saw you. They couldn’t believe it. You. Shattered across the floor. It was fake, yes, but a terrifying site for those close to you.

After realizing what happened, they never forgave Jax. They refused to believe he ‘didn’t mean to’

“Come on, I didn’t mean to Zoobie, you know me!” Jax would try to explain, but they didn’t take it.

“Didn’t mean to my [boink sfx idk], Jax, sure you didn’t. Sure.” They would ignore, simply walking away.

They tried to adjust, attempting to ignore you even existed. Think red guy in the Death episode of DHMIS, if you get what I mean. Just trying to ignore you’re gone, ignore the problem and it’ll surely go away, right? Wrong.

Considering you two were close, they were used to you helping pick their Zooble parts. They always felt better when you did, but now it just didn’t feel the same.

It never would. 

Gangle: 

She always worried your bulb head would break, she just didn’t expect it to be like this. 

She walked out with Zooble and pomni, shocked at the sight. She was horrified, letting out a small squeak of surprise and panic, her mask shattering as she flinched.

“are they okay?” Was all she could ask, was all she would ask. She couldn’t bear the thought of losing you, but she did.

She sobbed for hours, her mask breaking every time she tried to fix it for the next week or so. She just couldn’t believe it, no way, no way! This wasn’t fair.

Like Zooble, she struggled to believe Jax’s plea for innocence, her trust with him forever lost. 

She still had Zooble and Pomni, so they helped her as she helped them. After spudsy’s, she did realize the happy mask was pointless. What’s the point of forcing happiness? You’re not coming back, and that’s okay, it’ll be okay, right? Right. Right.

☆ typically he never pays too much mind to it, but he’s never seen someone so dedicated 

☆ sure, when he first entered, he tried to get the adventures done too, but not to this point

☆ he’s especially concerned when you immediately bolt in after him to get gangles mask in the mildenhall manor

☆ you barely even care, or notice Angel and the other freaks, dragging him along quickly.

☆ tried to warn you about the hall but you immediately ran down…and got possessed

☆ it was horrifying, to say the least

☆ he had to beat you with the gun, but at least the possessor was gone

☆ you barely even took a break, about to run down to try again and he forced you to sit

☆ when he tells you about Queenie, you’re empathetic but then immediately are like “okay but we gotta go, cmon.”

☆ he’s a bit…hurt, to say the least, but understands. He also wants to leave as soon as possible

☆ when you two make it back, you realize you somehow forgot Gangle’s mask.

☆ you attempt to find a way back to get it, but Caine brings you all back before that can happen

☆ he thinks it’s funny to be honest

☆ you get easily frustrated too, so he’s gonna bother you the WHOLEEEEE time if he can

☆ but you also just carried him like a briefcase on one adventure, just to annoy him back 

☆ he made gangle drive on the candy canyon adventure because he knew you’d want to

☆ gangle would’ve handed it over to when you protested, but Jax stopped that from happening 

☆ he couldn’t bug you as much as he’d liked to at Spudsy’s since the, y’know, ‘employee training’

☆ but he tried to anyway, you just shooed him off

☆ he was almost impressed by your work ethic.

☆ key word almost, because it mostly pissed him off

☆ anyway, seeing you go so far as to somehow injure yourself on adventures was hilarious to him

☆ all he had to do was convince you it’d help, and you’d do it

☆ even if it accidentally hurt the others

☆ he’s also really annoyed how you’re basically Caine’s favorite

☆ he’d poke at you about it though, just to annoy you

☆ but maybe sometimes he does get worried after adventures when you don’t even stay for whatever reward there could be

☆ like during the gloink adventure, did she literally watch you try and wrestle a goddamn gloink WTH

☆ you also insisted on taking care of her during the spudsy’s adventure

☆ you did crash out at a customer so you still got a B+ though

☆ anyway, she does appreciate that you try your best on every adventure

☆ she’s seen you get overly beat up in other adventures a lot, which always scares her

☆ despite the few adventures she’s been on, she’s seen how risky you can get

☆ when you’re not on adventures, you seem nice, but she’s still a bit scared of you

Type: silly fluff!! Gender neutral reader, as usual. lil bit of cursing too.

Summary: reader & Daisuke go out to steal sweetener packets, but somebody catches them red (or pink ig??? The sweetener IS pink) handed. They’re (possibly?) cooked.

You were resting after a long day of work on the Tulpar, letting your bed practically swallow you and your exhausted self whole. Until you heard light knocking at the door to your quarters, which got a bit rougher as the person out there called your name.

“Y/N! Y/NNN!!! Come on, get out here!” Daisuke whisper-shouted. It was that time again. Your weekly sweetener raid. It was more for him rather than you, but you indulged in the snacking sometimes.

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” you groaned, adjusting your pajamas as you stepped out of bed, opening the door to reveal your partner in crime. He was also dressed in pajamas, but predictably wore his Hello Kitty ones as he usually did. 

“You’re so slow!” he playfully complained.

“You’re just impatient.” you clapped back.

“Oh whatever!” he grabbed your hand, carefully dragging the two of you to the ship’s kitchen, careful not to make too much sound while going down the halls. 

It looked like it was really space in there, the void nearly endless down the corridors. You saw the area outside the kitchen illuminated in blue by the massive night screen in the living room. “Shh, quiet down!” Daisuke whispered as you entered the small kitchen area.

“I didn’t even-“ 

“Shhh!” He had to be messing with you, or just stupid. It was the former, by the way. “Anyway,” he attempted to fidget with the packet dispenser as you leaned against the counter, “you remember the code for the packets, right?”

“No? Why would I?” You responded, “This is mostly for you anyway.”

“Oh. Well damn,” his voice flattened, “I don’t remember it either. It’s probably in that book thing though, right?”

“Already there.” You beat him to it, leaning down in front of the book, flipping until you found…right. “We need the code scanner…”

“O-kayyy!” He responded with obviously fake optimism, “We can just guess, right? Or break it.” He spoke, jokingly or not.

“I mean you can try, I’m not sure if-“

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

You’re screwed. Three wrong guesses and the machine thinks there’s a burglar or something.

“Shit, shit, shit!” He panicked, desperately trying to turn it off, but what did he need now? The code scanner!!!!!! Because of course you two did. What else would you two need? “Man, I’m never gonna get a good reference with this!” and he still worried about that.

“Fuck.” now you were panicking too, as what you assumed to be Captain Curly’s thudding footsteps rang down the hallways, “Best thing to do is face the music, like Swansea always says, right? He‘ll still be mad, but proud of us for facing it, right?” You tried to calm Daisuke, knowing him to stress a bit easily.

“You’re like- totally right now that I think about it…that makes sense I suppose.”

“What are you two doing?” Curly interrupted the small moment, groggily walking towards the kitchen.

“We were gonna get some sweetener packets, but uh, neither of us remembered the code…” the intern sheepishly admitted, leaning against the counter in an attempt to seem casual.

“Really? That’s it?” Curly yawned, “I think I remember the code to turn it off, just let me…” he trailed off, walking behind you two and fiddling with the machine for a moment before silence filled your ears.

“Thanks, Captain.” You mumbled, still a bit embarrassed.

“Of course, kiddo,” he turned to you two, “just…don’t do that again, okay you two? I’ll let it slide this time, just be more careful.” He handed the both of you one sweetener packet, tiredly smiling, “And get some sleep while you’re at it, yeah?” he suggested, before heading back to his room.

“That went…a lot better than I thought.” You said.

“Same, I thought he’d like, totally get mad.” Daisuke agreed, still a bit shaken.

“You can take my packet by the way, I’m not hungry.” You handed your pink packet to him. 

“Oh, thanks man! You’re the best!” He hugged you briefly, “Goodnight!”

“Goodnight.” You yawned, watching him jog back to his quarters.

You took a seat at the couch, admiring the nighttime screen for a bit, before exhaustion got the best of you, forcing you to drag yourself to bed.

The Cosmos Come Again | OC Writing |

A/N: felt a bit silly, so writing for my oc, Uni!! (I stole her name for my own now shhhh)

Type: no clue, just a bit short and simple

Uni looked out into the cosmos, the stars sprinkled around like salt as she floated through. She wondered how long it had been since…everything. The ship, the realization, now this. She knew it was days. Maybe weeks, months, years, decades? She couldn’t tell. Couldn’t speak, breathe, eat, or even drink. Not like she needed any of that, but she sure did miss it after so long. Her green skirt floated through the nothingness, her hands moving up to adjust her pink and green party hat every few minutes. Her light brown pigtails floated with her, acting like guides through the void.

Until she saw it.

It was a massive, massive light. A star, obviously. It was bright, she shut her eyes to shield from the light. But her eyes didn’t hurt when she looked at it, oddly enough. She felt too close to it, like she’d burn up, but she didn’t feel warm in the slightest. Maybe she should get closer. Or get away. Or stay just where she is. She didn’t know, she wouldn’t decide either, as the flow of…something, decided for her. Her usually, steady and slow pace quickened abruptly, hurling her away. She spun, disoriented and confused. Her pigtails wrapped upwards, holding her hat in place as she steadied herself in a diving position. With her arms to her sides and looking frontwards, she saw the stars and asteroids in a blur around her. She saw what looked to be a ship for a split moment, before the first pain she felt in god knows how long. A pounding, thudding, pain echoed in her head after being slammed into metal, a ‘BANG!’ sounding after she landed, seated while holding her head. She groaned in pain, another thing she hadn’t done in forever.

She was already a bit surprised by the sudden schedule change, even more so by what she saw when she looked ahead.

“Hello, miss Uni.” Was the first thing she heard from a stiff, robotic voice.

Oh no, not again.

☆ he also used gingerbread a lot more in adventures. For some reason. It did freak you out a bit, to be honest, but you didn’t say much 

☆ I also like the idea that being a gingerbread fella you broke easily, so he’d often fix you up after adventures 

☆ he also gave you an oven in your room, to cook new limbs in case he wasn’t there to repair you

☆ he’s a bit bonkers in the light, so you accidentally scare him a lot

☆ he’s sorta like a parent figure to you tbh

☆ like during episode 3 if you get tossed with him and Pomni, he protects you two

☆ he’s purposely break off your limbs, because he would

☆ he probably also broke your arm off just to eat it, so see what it tasted like

☆ it tasted like polygons, much like other food in the circus

☆ he also probably tried to shove you in the oven in your room

☆ considering you occasionally need to bake yourself new limbs, you probably have some sort of frosting to re-attach them with

☆ which he totally stole and managed to glue you to your ceiling 

☆ and you still had to go on the adventure after that

☆ as she is with everybody, she’s super welcoming to you

☆ also protects you from Jax when he tried to break you

☆ in the instance he does, she IMMEDIATELY helps, she’s such a people pleaser oml

☆ like genuinely it’ll be the smallest thing and she insists on helping, it’s a bit overbearing

☆ you know she’s trying to be nice but god damn

☆ you let her help anyway

☆ she’s pretty nice other than that

☆ checks on you pretty regularly and stuff

☆ during episode 4’s adventure she does spill that she basically pities you.

☆ that definitely affects your relationship, but you try not to let it get to you

☆ they get the bullying from Jax, so they try to help

☆ sometimes it results in their limbs being yoinked, but hey, at least you’re okay

☆ they also help you with your gingerbread limbs

☆ you’re like a lot shorter than them, which they DO think is kinda maybe funny

☆ like they’ll never mock you for it but compared to everyone else you’re almost comically short

☆ surprised to have someone a bit shorter than her at first to be honest

☆ she’s pretty nice to you though!!

☆ she might worry about accidentally breaking you so she might avoid you sometimes, but she means well

☆ if someone (Jax) breaks your limbs she’s willing to help if Ragatha doesn’t beat her to it

☆ sometimes wonders if you’re edible, but then she realizes that’s weird asf so she never asks

☆ you had bumped into them, causing their slightly loose arms to fall off

☆ naturally they were a tad resentful, annoyed that they had to get Ragatha to help put their arms back on while Caine gave you a tour

☆ but oddly (and annoyingly) enough, you seemed to be fonder of them, sticking to them during the adventure.

☆ the adventure, an indoor one, was a simple paintball fight, with Gloinks running around for some reason

☆ they didn’t exactly mind you following them, tolerating you more since there was already a shared disliking for Jax. 

☆ You both targeted him the WHOLEEE time

☆ your clumsy ass DID somehow shoot them and yourself at multiple points, somehow, but it was fun

☆ Before an adventure, they asked you to meet them at their room after it ended

☆ to which you agreed,  couldn’t be that bad

☆ During the adventure you did notice they were a lot more…anxious? Fidgety? You were worried for them, that was the only thing you knew

☆ you tried to ask them if something was wrong, but they pushed you away

☆ they also were avoiding you too, so something was definitely up

☆After the adventure, you met them at their room as they asked

☆ They were there, along with gangle and Pomni down the hall watching, just in case!

☆ they took a few deep breaths when you arrived, calming themself down as they began to speak

☆ it took a bit of stalling, but then they blurted it out.

☆ it was almost immediately you suggested dating, and they agreed of course

☆ I don’t see them being very touchy, but if you wanted some physical affection, they’re happy to oblige

Yep, those were words that could definitely describe Pomni right now. Your every move, even just a light blink had her trying not to flush red. You were just so…so! 

Just now, she was sitting with Zooble and Gangle. Gangle was drawing as the two of them were watching. At least Zooble was. Pomni’s pinwheel eyes were locked on your soft, beautiful hair, and the way your lips moved as you talked to Ragatha, the way you neatened your already perfect clothes, the way your (E/C) eyes looked up at the ragdoll, how politely and kindly you waited your turn to speak, how tender and caring your voice was, how-

“Pomni? Pomniiiii? Are you okay?” Gangle’s worried voice cut through her thoughts, as she snapped her head to face the ribboned girl.

“Oh- uh- nothing, nothing, sorry. What were you saying?” She smiled weakly, using every ounce of her force to not admire you like you were a statue.

“I was just asking, should I use black or brown for the hair on this?” Gangle turned the notepad around, leaning over Zooble to show Pomni the drawing.

“Hmm…I think black would look better, what do you think Zooble?” Pomni glanced at Zooble, trying to include them.

“I said black too, jeez, what had you so distracted?” Zooble looked at Pomni, with a hint of an idea, as their eyes flickered at you, but they thought nothing of it.

“It’s nothing, just thinking, that’s all!” The jester reassured, going back to admiring you as the other two continued with Gangle’s OCs. She stared, fondness and love in her eyes, until someone had to ruin that.

“Sooo…when are you gonna tell her?” Jax grinned, leaning against one of the brightly colored blocks nearby Pomni.

“What do you mean? Tell her what?” If she just played dumb maybe-

“That you’re so down bad?” He chuckled, glancing at you before refocusing, “It’s obvious, you’re into the glass dolly.”

“I am not!”

With all their bickering, it had caught you and Ragatha’s attention. Ragatha, worried, glanced at them, then back at you.

“Do you think we should go help? I hate to see her all bothered by him.” Ragatha spoke, you knew she’d go anyway, but you figured you’d help.

“I’ve got it, Ragatha. Don’t worry.” You smiled, neatening your clothes for the millionth time as you cautiously stepped towards the duo, your shoes clicking across the checkered floors.

“Come on! It’s so obvious you like-“ Jax was cut off as you spoke.

“Leave her alone, Jax! She’s stressed enough, she doesn’t need you hassling her over- whatever it is.” You scolded him, unaware of what they were discussing.

“Yeesh, (y/n), no need to be so harsh!” He smirked, putting a hand to his chest in his typical faux dramatic fashion, “You might hurt my feelings.”

“I don’t even care, go away!” You made a shooing motion with your hand. Zooble and Gangle glanced over, popcorn suddenly appearing in their grips as they got into the drama, “Just because nobody here likes you doesn’t mean you can be a douche!”

Jax sighed, “Fine, I’ll leave the lovebirds be for now.” He shrugged, sneaking off to Ragatha, his hand grabbing something, seemingly a centipede, from his pocket.

“Are you okay?” You sat with Pomni, worried about her. 

“Uh- yeah- yeah…I’m alright.” She fidgeted with her suit’s pom-poms, her mind racing a million miles an hour. Her fingers feverishly tapped against the bench.

“Good,” you started, “I know he’s sometimes totally a…y’know, but try not to let him get to you, okay?” Your hand rested on hers, in a warm, comforting manner.

“Allllllright…” she muttered out, her brain hitting a blue-screen at the situation at hand. She was here. Sitting with you. Your hand on hers. Practically holding on. 

‘Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god-‘ was all her mind could cohesively think. “Thank you,” she almost blurted, “for uh- y’know- standing up for me!” She weakly grinned, trying not to embarrass herself.

“That’s what friends do, y’know?” You smiled tenderly.

‘I’m a fool, I’m a fool…’

“Yeah, f-friends, yeah.” She mumbled, looking away. She couldn’t help but feel a tad hopeless, maybe you didn’t feel the same?

“I’ll always be here if you need anything though, you are fun to talk to.” You smiled, squeezing her soft, gloved hand. You couldn’t help a light pink dusting your porcelain cheeks. 

Her eyes widened at that, as big as saucers, but maybe that was an understatement. If her cheeks were already pink, you bet they were now steaming red.

“Are you okay? Your eyes look…different.”

“Huh? W-What do you mean?” She sputtered, confused and a bit embarrassed, even though she didn’t know what by.

You knew though, her eyes were hearts. Pretty, adorable, cute, hearts. Like in your favorite cartoons from before you joined the circus, “Oh nothing, nothing doll,” You chuckled, “Forget it.”

The shape of her eyes defined much more at the ‘doll’, you could’ve swore you saw some light steam floating from her non-existent ears.

It was quiet. Too quiet. Something was up. Ever since you woke up, and gotten to work in the medbay, something was missing.

Daisuke.

He always poked his head in the room at some point, cracking a joke or giving you and Anya some doodles from his work with Swansea, which you both put up on the board. (Yimpy was your favorite, by the way!) You’d been working for hours, organizing and helping Anya, occasionally going around the ship to help Swansea, since the engineer’s intern was holed up in his quarters. 

As of right now, you were just in Utility, taking a break from your intern duties with Anya.

“So…have you heard from Daisuke at all? I haven’t seen him all day.” You started conversation awkwardly, figuring Swansea might know.

“Nope, haven’t seen the kid either. I tried yanking him from his room, but he was working on something. Didn’t even let me in.” Swansea groused, grabbing a wrench from his toolbox as he tightened the bolts on the cryopods, “Can’t help but admit I am a bit worried, the kid doesn’t pull stunts like this often, or at all to be honest.”

“I mean, I could check on him. I’m technically his best friend, right?” you suggested.

“Y’know…I suppose that could work. My next bet was waiting it out, but I’ll send ya down there. Thanks, kid” he spoke, the gratefulness evident.

“Anytime, Mr. Swansea!” you grinned, your feet swiftly carrying you from the utility room, down the metal halls and to the crew’s quarters. You approached his door, “Daisuke” written in dark pink lettering, with doodles of hibiscus flowers around his name. You raised your hand, your fist rapping against the door softly.

“Daisuke, are you in there? Can I come in?” you asked carefully, worried. Something was wrong. It had to be.

“Don’t- don’t come in! I’m busy.” he responded meekly, a hint of nervousness in his voice, “Besides uh- I’m- whatever, just go away.”

“I’m not gonna go away until you either let me in or tell me what’s going on. You’re worrying Swansea and I, as well as everyone else, I’m sure.” you insisted, the concern eating you alive, “You know these doors don’t lock, the only thing stopping me from coming in is the fact you’re responding.”

“Come on, (y/n), it’s really better if you just go, I’ll be done in a bit!” he fought back.

“Daisuke, please, you’re scaring me. I haven’t heard from you all day. I can tell something’s up.” you could hear shuffling from in the room, pens and pencils clicking against the wood of his desk. Your hand gripped the metal knob, turning it slowly.

“Wait, wait, wait!” Daisuke ran up to the door, closing it before you could open it as papers rustled.

It was a few moments before it flung open, the wind slightly pushing your hair back as you were greeted with him brightly smiling self. Before you could even speak, Daisuke spoke over you.

“Here! I’ve been working like, all day on this, so I hope you like it!” He smiled, handing you the paper.

You looked down and…it was a drawing of you. You knew he was good at art but…this was on a different level.

“This is so good!” You gushed, careful not to crumple the paper with excitement, “Swansea’s gonna be absolutely pissed but y’know, it seems worth it, right?” you chuckled, hugging him, still tenderly handling the masterpiece.

“Oh wow, I didn’t expect you to get this excited, but thanks, (y/n). Thanks a lot.” he hugged back, relishing the feeling of you in his arms. 

“Still, you should probably go to Swansea before he chews you out for 12 hours.” you pulled back, smiling still, a fuzzy feeling on your cheeks, “I’ll put this in my room immediately, though, it means a lot!”

“Fine, fine, see ya (y/n)!” He waved, jogging off to Utility. May he rest in peace.
