anyway ! thank you for the request :D sorry it took me so long to write, i got busy with school but i also got thrown into writer's block </3

i freestyled this a little cause idk how u envisioned me writing this ^^" hope u like it tho !!!!

btw i refuse to make Ortho call Idia "brother" in dialogue where he's talking to him bc no mf does that. anywhere. ever. in the English language. so i'm sticking with the JP appellations !

It was downright unfair. Maybe even preposterous! Idia had been pacing around his room, mumbling and talking to himself – and the sheep plushies he and Ortho owned – about what had happened only ten minutes prior to him getting back to his room.

Idia had basically been forced to go into the real world to go get some equipment from Sam's shop, where he had encountered Vil. Vil wasn't the worst person to come across, but when Vil had tried to start up a conversation with him, which eventually lead to Idia asking him what he was there for, Idia got back a reply that made sense.

But it only made sense in the moment because as soon as he started walking back to his room he realized that Vil sounded a little.. off? He didn't even remember what Vil had said back to him, which made Idia a little nervous. What if he had sounded dumb? It couldn't have been that much of a fatal reply, right?

And so there he ended up, in his room, talking to the sheep plushies on his bed.

"It just can not have been so bad. There is no way. You guys would definitely agree with me if you had come with me and witnessed the whole situation, for sure!"

The sheep plushies didn't respond, obviously, but right after Idia finished his sentences the door to his room opened, Ortho coming in through the door a second later.

"Are you getting answers out of them, Nii-san?"

"Yeah, they're spilling the world's very own secrets to me right now."

Ortho wasn't one to use sarcasm much himself, since he thought it was confusing, but Idia used it almost daily. It got more frequent when Idia was thinking about a situation where he couldn't figure out what was going on.

Ortho then quickly managed to put two and two together, moving over to pat Idia on the back. "Nii-san, even if you completely missed the sarcasm, they most likely have already forgotten about the interaction."

"...thanks, Ortho."

Maybe he should just bring Ortho with him next time.

more Idia headcanons !!! (because he's still just like me fr) except i'm adding in some Ortho ones as well !!!!

- Idia, when walking anywhere that's not inside his room or any space he's familiar with, usually looks directly at the ground.

- Idia will wear socks basically everywhere BUT NOT UNDER THE COVERS. when he goes to sleep, or decides to just lay in bed, they need to be OFF !!!!!!

- Idia knows all the 'hacks' to those claw machines at arcades and stuff and makes full use of them.

- he doesn't actually go to arcades or so often bc he's a student and a social wreck but the few times he does manage to go he gets his prizes !!!

- a kid once approached him after seeing him win those games so easily and asked him if he could get them a reward. the kid handed him their coins and he won one for them ! but after that he had to take a breather because he hadn't expected anyone to just walk up to him

- Idia has a love/hate relationship with earbuds/earplugs/earphones, so he usually resorts to headphones

- Idia has played a wide variety of games due to boredom, depression, recommendations and also Ortho ! (Ortho will occasionally point out a game that looks interesting to him and then Idia checks it out)

- Idia got Ortho a sheep plush to match his own (Ortho wanted to match so bad bc he thought the sheep was adorable)

- Ortho often just stares at people, analyzing their behavior

- he doesn't really understand feelings in practice, he's got them down in theory though (just like his brother fr)

- Ortho LOVES animal videos, just put them on and he'll be watching for HOURS on end

- it doesn't even matter what kind, he just thinks animals are cool and neat

- Ortho once saw two sheep that looked like his and Idia's sheep plushies and he just RUSHED to show Idia (it cost Idia a win but he didn't really care in the end because, oh wow, those sheep do look like their plushies)

- Ortho knows he's not in a human body but sometimes he forgets and like... flops down on things. he has broken things before on complete accident. (i know he shouldn't be that heavy but still)

- the aforementioned things include; two chairs, an older bench on campus and a bed

- Ortho is very curious and often replicates people's behaviors to understand a bit more about what those people are like

- Ortho easily blocks out background noise and only really notices the background noise when Idia (or someone else) comments on it

- Ortho is absolutely terrible at naming things, Idia is as well. yet they both do it differently.

- Ortho initially wanted to name his sheep plush "Sheep," Idia initially wanted to name his sheep plush after multiple video game characters

Idia Shroud headcanons (he's just like me fr)

- he is autistic.

- deep pressure on his body helps him get grounded after stress/a meltdown

- Ortho tried to help once after a particularly stressful day at NRC but having metal laying on you doesn't help at all so Idia ended up getting some weighted blankets (extras for backup, you never know !)

- has a sheep plush he holds for comfort, it works well for when he's feeling antsy or anxious

- deathly afraid of getting the plush dirty or damaged so he usually just lets it stay on his bed, though he'd like to bring it along to places

- absolutely despises skin-tight clothing IT IS A SENSORY NIGHTMARE !!!!

- mostly unaware of the facial expressions he makes and his hands' whereabouts when he's not gaming

- completely understands emotions in theory, not so much in practice

- habitually lies about small things that don't matter, really

(like this ⤵️)

Ortho: hey where did you put the red pen you used yesterday ?

Idia: top left drawer under the desk

Ortho: it's not here

Idia: i lied it's in the bottom left one

(Ortho doesn't mind)

- doesn't like white chocolate because "it feels and tastes weird"

- when he goes to sleep he covers himself as much as he can with the covers

- gets sleepy during warmer (than average) weather very quickly

- auditory hallucinations of notification pings are common

- he does NOT understand the signs of his body needing to drink unless he's done something like.. actively participate in p.e, so he's often stuck with headaches due to the lack of hydration

- used to the headaches by now, though

- likes dating sim games a LOT despite the fact that he cannot differentiate platonic and romantic attraction

- (they are the same thing to him, basically)

- has very little to no issue with understanding accents, but won't be able to tell where someone is from based on their accent

- loves vocaloid (Ortho does as well)

- has made some covers to songs with voicebanks he bought

- has tried to get Azul into vocaloid, it didn't go the exact way Idia wanted it to go but at least Azul thought some songs were nice

- draws sometimes !! it's mostly doodles or concept designs though

- has tried making his own games before but ended up losing motivation for them before they were even remotely close to resembling a game

- Ortho doesn't drain his social battery at all

- spite is one of the few things that never fail to motivate him

Jade's approach is more physical like holding hands or hugging if that's okay w Azul

and Azul shows it in his own. very Azul way. you know what way that is (like being more lenient when it comes to Floyd's mood swings during working hours, allowing them to be more physically affectionate, maybe even leaving some "thank you for [thing]" notes)

obvsly Floyd would also happily go for a hug but i know for SURE that he LOVES telling the ppl he loves all the sweet things he thinks abt them

even if said "sweet things" are things like "you remind me of a [scientific name of a pretty jellyfish]"
